yeah i swear ive read all the guides i just cant get Patches to save him for some reason

im thinking maybe its becaues i had Seigward's set in my inventory from the previous NG cycle

Did you check if patches still had the set in his shop then?

he did have the set for sale still when i talked to him in firelink and told him about Greirat going to Irythyll

i was on NG+2 and hadnt rebought the Seigward set at all. i am gonna put his set in my storage box. im about to do NG+3 and give it a shot again.

i just read that you have to kill a boss other than Pontiff, so maybe i killed Pontiff first

like tell Patches where Greirat went, then kill a different boss without having bought the Catarina set.

i also read that you need to sell the Catarina set before starting the NG+ cycle so i will try that too

possibly just storing it wouldnt be enough

Second Run: After passing the Irithyll barrier with the Small Doll, Greirat may scavenge the Boreal Valley. Greirat's Ashes are found in the sewers of Irithyll before the kitchen by the Distant Manor Bonfire after a boss is defeated unless saved, which allows him to return and continue to scavenge. Siegward of Catarina may save him if rescued from the well in the Cathedral of the Deep by giving him the Catarina Set, if he is found inside the kitchen. Entering Irithyll Dungeon moves Siegward from the kitchen to the Dungeon, and he will no longer be able to save Greirat. Unbreakable Patches may save him if Siegward is stuck in the Cathedral of the Deep well next to the Cleansing Chapel Bonfire, the Catarina Set has not been bought, and he's spoken to after Greirat has left. Entering Irithyll Dungeon prevents Patches from asking about the scavenge, and he will no longer be able to save Greirat.
