any advice regarding UGs usage in pvp?

ive been doing some invasions at meta lvl and I'm having a really hard time with the FUGS, does anyone have any advice? if UGs are just dogshit i would be open to a new weapon type thats a bit more beginner friendly

The whole gist behind using UGs is that most ugs can have unpredictable combos and in general unpredictable reach so if you learn how to bait people in PvPs UGs can be extremely powerful once you stop spamming attack all the time. Also most UGs can have a swipe attack which if you turn your character while swiping at the same time you can bait the other player to attack you and follow it up with essentially a 360° swipe attack

If you still really dont like UGs than stepping down to normal greatswords would be the safest bet as it has all the benefits of the UGs however with less reach and less damage but because of the much faster speed youll have a significantly less punish window

Greatswords have more effective range than the horizontal ultra greatswords

there's nothing unpredictable about the range of ultra greatswords, they are among the most punishable weapons in PvP

If your opponent simply walks out of range when they see you start using the thrust, then walk back in to hit you with a faster weapon when you are in recovery frames, there is nothing you can do

tl;dr: ultra greatswords are not good in PvP

the people you're fighting need to have next to no concept of spacing and not understand how hyper armor functions in order for you to beat them consistently/reliably, which is the case more often than not while invading

you can avoid and punish every move an ugs has based on pure reaction

this is a flaw that cannot be attributed to every weapon, contrary to what youre saying
