Does anyone know why I might be getting these swarms of errors and even the alvr window crashing, but steamvr is still being streamed to my headset just fine?

#

I'm using the Quest 3 headset on Arch, I have an nvidia 3060

#

I would get logs, but the "Open logs directory" just opens my home folder in my web browser.

#

Not sure where they're meant to go.

this assumes its a laptop, if its a desktop when disable your igpu and thats easy fix

#

this also assumes you have nvidia drivers installed properly - run nvidia-smi to check

and alvr's window crashing as well.

what does nvidia-smi say?

#

so you say it all works? and the errors are just spurious?

I'll have to get that later, my computer is offline, i ran it before and everything seemed fine at the time

although maybe the performance was being impacted

#

but it's a pain because i can't adjust any options when this happens

working with potato quality does not rly count

#

its falling back to software encoding and not using your gpu is what it probably means

upper coral
#

that works add up

#

it would explain why it runs fine in the steam "waiting area" where nothing is happening

#

i was running a heavily modded game so i couldn't tell if it was just bogged down from that

solution is to probably reinstall nvidia drivers - which ones are you using?

I'll have to get back to you on that so i can get you a better answer than "the latest of whatever i installed"

#

I ran endeavour's driver installing script that's meant to get the recommended drivers for my system however.

#

is there a way i can see if alvr has fell back to software encoding?

by looking at logs

#

how did u install alvr?

#

get launcher

will do

#

are you aware the GitHub still recommends the aur?
