I'm using a Quest 3, with Quest 1 controllers as feet trackers. My GPU is a Nvidia RTX 306012GB OC edition, I have 32GB of ram, 4TB m.2 SSD, and a AMD Ryzen 5 5600x

Whenever I launch Steam VR with ALVR open itll detect my controllers but it wont launch the application in VR. I use Air Link and it gets extremely laggy (pretty much a few frames per minute) in the headset until I close out of Steam VR. I'm not sure what the issue is because all my settings should be correct. On the Steam VR app it shows that its searching for the headset but it'll never connect. I used to have a cable that I would hook up to my PC for wired gameplay in Steam VR but that cable broke a while ago.

I also just found out theres a ALVR app on the Quest store, I installed it and tired connecting the headset to the PC, even manually, and I couldnt get it to connect to the ALVR Streaming app

both apps are 20.10.0

got it to connect and launch Steam VR, how can I connect my quest 1 controllers to ALVR?

#

it should just work

#

probably rift S right? they use the same controllers iirc

#

it doesn pick them up though

reboot and retry, make sure controllers are on - reboot headset - i bet it magically starts working

I rebooted my pc and headset and now they don’t connect anymore 🫠

supple marten
#

its very particular about startup procedure, how exactly are you doing it?

#

and did you reset settings and add headset as trusted again after installing new version?

are u using airlink or alvr?

robust rain
#

ALVR

supple marten
#

turn off airlink on headset and meta software on pc

#

just reboot and retry

#

look at errors in logs

robust rain
#

there are no errors

supple marten
#

is the headset showing as trusted device?

#

is network set to private?

#

is pc using ethernet?

robust rain
#

my PC is using ethernet

I got the connection issues all fixed, but my Q1 controllers still arent showing up.

#

@supple marten

robust rain
#

now it doesnt show any headsets..

supple marten
#

the controllers connect to the headset i believe - so the problem is not related to alvr or pc

#

try update or reboot headset is all i can suggest

#

check software version and charge level on controllers

robust rain
supple marten
#

update alvr to latest version on headset maybe

i have quest2 and quest3 - and never had any trouble with controllers

#

are you using any exotic tracking options or extra stuff?

robust rain
#

I only have a q1 and q3

supple marten
#

oh wait i just read the OP lol

#

you are using q1 controllers are foot trakcers WHAT!?

robust rain
#

yes

#

I never bought the q2

supple marten
#

so the normal hand controllers are working fine? but you want extra stuff

robust rain
