the menu is invisible in VR. I can still launch games from my computer, but is is inconvenient & I've never had this specific problem before. It also works on a different computer & I don't know why. I also originally tried to install the version listed on the AUR, but it failed and I am unable to uninstall it.

Can confirm that this problem still persists on Arch Linux.

#

Occasionally the SteamVR Dashboard does become visible, but then goes back to being invisible.

Do you have a second GPU?

Just an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT.

verify the file integrity of steamvr and maybe run the binding patch

Previous version also doesn't work.

The only time I had this bug is when it was using iGPU for encoding.

1.27.5 branch does work!

#

Still can't launch anything besides SteamVR Home.

nevermind this broke my ability to launch games

#

so, it looks like I can either have a dashboard, or launch games, but not both.

The current, beta, and previous versions are all indistinguishable from each other.

In the one version where I can see the dashboard, I can't launch games.

Are you using Wayland or x11? I find the steamVR menu seems to be intermittent on Wayland but find in x11 but streams worse on x11 so I just been using wlx-overlay-s to control computer screens and access steam library

AMD 7700XT
nixOS
ALVR version 20.6.1
SteamVR with vrmonitor.sh command and steam-run alvr so it links to anything impacted by fhs noncompliance.

x11

I'm still having this issue.

I've ran into this multiple times. In no particular order:

  • giving it 5-10 seconds and multiple attempts right after starting the stream
  • that it is actually enabled in the steamvr settings
  • the vrmonitor.sh prefix thing,
  • restarting pipewire and wireplumber and steam
#

and otherwise, disabling and reenabling alvr in the steamvr addons, as silly as that sound.

i have never had this bug, but the stuff in op "installed aur and unable to remove" sounds rly dubious - get rid of it

#

its difficult to support ppl if using ancient version or with corrupt environment

I'm also having this issue
gentoo 6.10
ALVR 20.10.0
vrmonitor command on steamvr (black screen without it)
AMD 6900XT
wayland plasma

same issues here:
EndeavourOS (Arch Based)
ALVR 20.11.1
