Hi All,
Has anyone any experience with the ESP32 PoE for hardwired integration into home assistant?
I see a real gap in the market for hardwired devices, unless you’re willing to spend crazy money on knx etc.
I’m currently in the process of wiring a renovation and have the opportunity to get some cat5/6 run in wherever I like and don’t want to miss the opportunity.
I have a background in industrial automation and wouldn’t dream of wireless tech in this field because of reliability. Whilst I understand the irony in using a development board obviously negates this argument, but I can’t help but feel hardwired is the way to.
One thing I’d like to use it for is temperature control. I’d like to install some floor temperature sensors and air temperatures in each zone so I can calculate a temperature differential (it’s useful for the commissioning of the underfloor heating flow rates, temperatures etc)
Would this board be suitable for such an application? Has anyone done anything similar? I might even run these values back to a PLC somehow, maybe via node red or even MQTT directly, as the PLC will be handling all the temperature control throughout the house.
Thanks for any help/insights you can provide into this.
