have great trouble in shading with pencil any good youtube tutorials @rose compass
what's that?
what type of realism? please elaborate. Send a reference of what you want to achieve
@lean salmon @scarlet plank what type of materials you guys use?

Let's get into shading a drawing! We'll explore form, planes and light on form. I'll guide you through making an object feeling 3 dimensional by indicating the elements of light on form - highl...
hi what is a good-quality, cheap paper for pencil drawing?
Also, I've just bought my first art pencils (Staedtler) to persuade myself to draw as a hobby, but I don't really know where to start.. any newbie pointers? 😅
@granite shoal no matter the tool or the medium any printing paper will do the job except if u are planning to do great piece directly
to start i would recommend to alternate between learning the basics like shapes and simple perspective then study art pieces copying them. sometime draw something for yourself no matter what. It's important to keep drawing as an amusing subject.
there's tons of youtube channel to learn these.
there is no one way to learn how to draw ^^
staedtler is great already
@granite shoal You can use these links as a support
https://drawabox.com/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLqWX7onVmU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22XYoenU-0c
@granite shoal read this convo I had with another user if you want
this is supposed to be for an assignment
it looks great, wow
thank you tadano pfp
you are welcome One Shot's main character Niko pfp
lol someone knew about oneshot
fucking awesome game, sad it is not too famous, but I guess it's a consequence of the art style + no marketing
wdym the art style was gorgeous
yeah could be
the marketing was at steam only i guess
@ocean patio @karmic jay wow... thank yall so much!!!! this is a lot of information so it'll take me some time to read through, but thank you Cwispy for the links. I've heard of drawabox and youtubers like Proko and Sycra.. definitely will check out Design Cinema as well.. and I will certainly take your advice about how to start learning to draw.. thank you zeni for the convo, will look at that as well.. hoping I use the Staedtler pencils correctly haha.. wow yall gave me so many resources, I didn't expect this much help thank youu 🥺 😊
but general public doesn't like it
and youtubers playing it
yeah it appealed to the indie games market i think
you can always come back and ask for more
ty ty.. bit overwhelmed rn, I think I'll just pick one of the videos and start drawing haha
just do it, no shame
will do 😤
I'll try to silence my inner perfectionist..
@karmic jay have you/ are you studying art?
ahhh I see 👀
I've never taken a proper art class but I drew this a couple days ago:
it was from a youtube tutorial
could you send the tutorial? I'm interested
nice
I'll try to find it
try to practice line control, it will help a ton
idk if we're allowed to send links here
of course you are
but the tutorial is called How to Draw a Rose Step by Step | Hihi Pencil
wow.. looking back at the video, my rose looks kind of bland 😆
I see it, I recommend not watching those kinds of tutorials
they are really bad imo
ohh why's that? just curious
they teach nothing, it's void but on paper
if you want to know how to draw, that is
like, "the right way"
you haven't understood what the lines she made are, why is she choosing to draw the petals first, how does she constructed the flower's form on her head, etc
ahh I see, well guess I got a lot of learning to do lol
those videos are linear processes that can only teach one simple thing and it's basically useless, since you will not be able to draw another rose from any other angle
we all have
welp thanks for the help, appreciate it a lot!
I'll check back soon to show my progress~
anyone got some Feedback for me ?
(Arms and Horns i still Need to change)
any critique is appreciated
much better than anything i could do
@ocean patio i Just looked Up your Art in this Chat and that Statement isnt true at all
ah yes its called, being an artist
the fight between your ego telling you its really good and you trying to balance it by telling yourself its terrible is a constannnnt
idk
i Look at it and think Like man its better than what i thought i could do atm but at Same time im Like "man its still Shit"
Connect where
tits are floating and the fabric/cloth is not connecting
hatching on almost every place is inconsistent
arms and legs are kinda looking like balloons/sausages
hair looks strange because the direction doesn't change even though it's being dragged behind the ear
crosshatching on shadow placements
too little shadows too; light source is inconsistent
that's what I could point out, I don't know if you want to achieve kind of a realism and I don't know if you really care about anatomy and physics. That said I think there are some fundamental things you could fix
oh damn some i didnt notice but now that you mention it
tyvm tho
Like i Said Always Love critique
@karmic jay
that's great, I hope I helped
I would appreciate if u have any comments I need to improve in my drawing
My insta is “ artsy.block” if anyone wants to follow🙈
what do you need help with? it looks really good
maybe some depth that could be created on the fur a bit BUT it's looking really good imo
Thank youu!!
Hi, here's some daily sketch!
adore your style
Can you guys give me tips on how to make the water look more realistic?
If anyone’s interested my art ig its artz_dil
I’m not an artist myself but just wanted drop by and say that all of your work look awesome 🤩
study of helmets I did last week
all from memory and the bottom one is a creation
I'm too scared to paint or finish anything, I must combat this fear
I draw watercolors
https://www.watercoloraffair.com/the-secret-to-realistic-watercolor-painting/
Maybe this can help
Thank youuu
I'm not sure but through my previous drawings, you need to clearly observe the watercolor to distinguish, layering to create depth as well as white space to look more realistic, quite complicated. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ctCJC6JhLU
Watercolor painting of waves at the rocky shore. I tried to keep thing painting more of a simple demonstration. Hope you will enjoy this watercolour painting of the foamy ocean water waves.
Materials used
- Brustro Watercolor paper (A5 sheet) https://amzn.to/30aywMD
- Masking tape https://amz...
I drew everything with prismacolor pencils actually but it was still helpful thank youuu
anyone do animation in here?
what do you need help with?
UwU
https://rarible.com/token/0x60f80121c31a0d46b5279700f9df786054aa5ee5:1037544?tab=bids
Posted my first art piece on Rarible, it is one of 5 other digital artworks in a body of work I called "otherworldly" it follows themes of post-modernism and post-structuralism and was inspired by Kurt Vonnegut's "Slaughterhouse 5".
Gethsemene was the Garden in which Jesus prayed in prior to getting crucified and I wanted to depict themes of human suffering in this specific piece of work. I hope you everyone enjoys my works as much as I did making it. 🙂
Feedback would be nice
Noiiiice ✨
You guys are so talented at such a young agee😍 damn
hey guys i've got an art assignment that needs to use acrylic paint but i have 0 experience in it what should i expect?? The closet ive done to it is watercolor or some oil but i failed badly at both
It’ll dry faster than oil paint and because of that you can add more layers if the paint is dry. Though this can also be a disadvantage if you want to work on a more blendy work.
I have never tried oils though but that’s what I read from comparison between the two
Ahhhh icic it’s fine then because my assignment asked for only element of acrylic so I could use other stuff like digital to do the rest easily niceeee
Thankss tho
thanks!
@spring ore NAHH THAT IS SO BEAUTIFUL! @normal robin @kind delta why yall are not famous 😭you guys are so talented! ❤️ draw mee 😂 😄 😊 Big hugs
pay me
Thank youuu ❤️❤️
LMAO "draw me"-- our favorite phrase
Lmaooo but I think that person said that as a compliment idk
oh yeah im sure ahhaa
Thank youuu💙💙💙
@karmic jay here's a lil progress update of me trying to figure out what pencil grades work well together.. I ended up using a random Google image as my model.. and since I know you're wayy more experienced with this type of thing, I would love it if you critique the hell out of my drawing, thanks hehe
hey, it looks good! I would like to know your drawing process. Also, what style would you like to draw? I never asked it, I think.
idk I kind of just sketched out an outline with an F-grade and then went in with more grainier pencils like 3B and 5B to add texture (I smeared graphite on the edges for the shadow effect)
I have no idea what style I'm going for, possibly realistic and nature-focused works 😅
you should do layers of shade (lightest to darkest) gives it more smoothness and clean look, and only use dark pencils when necessary (not on unwanted areas. Hope this helps! but id draw to many human body parts or humans, i just love to use graphite. LOL
looks pretty gud tho ngl
ahh okay thank you! I'm struggling with the lighter shade pencils in my set.. it feels very scratchy like I can't draw smoothly with them- I'm using the Staedtler 12-pencil set btw
@granite shoal I recommend looking into geometry first
the geometry/planes of the subject you are drawing
BUT first you need to draw in simple shapes like cubes and circles
do you know where I can find some geometry resources?
I'll try
I think I recall a 100 box challenge that drawabox has, idk if its free tho
+- this
I think it is
woahh did you draw that yourself?
no
ok cool I'll look into it!
that looks difficult 😅
hmmm I think I need to practice the proportions of the mouth/facial region and practice the shapes/planes as you said
also it seems like the shadows are key to drawing human features, so I may need to look into that as well
that's why you have to understand the solid shapes first
not yet
shadow is something complex if you don't study geometry and form first
yes you're right I need to take it step-by-step lmao
@karmic jay hey zeni what would recommend me to do for a drawing warmup?
a lot of lines. Small lines, big lines, curved lines
try to re-create the same line over and over, like a pattern
same length
circles too. Try to do a "perfect" circle, with the beginning being connected to the end
make at leas a whole page of it
try using the flat side of ur pencil, gives smoother shades
thank you, I’ll try 😊
np
Hey guys what do you think?
I am not proficient enough to critique your art but I love how you’ve captured the warmth in their eyes.
thx, it's bc in the picture the sunlight is hitting them directly to their faces so
horse.
her nose is too much to the side, it looks wrong
the hand (right one) is too soft, it looks like an unfinished bread?
horses dont have hands. they have legs i think
this is the reference image
hands have 5 fingers
of course, I was not talking about the horse
ah fuck off. my english is pretty shit
i love you man. your the sexiest man on this discord
you can see the highlight and a tiny little bit of the septum and even little of the left nostril
your drawing is giving the wrong impression, the side looks flat and it doesn't look it's turned, but fully in side because of the shading and the almost no difference in light
k something else?
I think her face is a bit wider than it should be
but it looks really good
like, it's gorgeous
i was giving it an 8/10, but after that i guess 7/10
thx
I give it an 8/10 imo, the colors are a bit too strong but I liked
damn you're the unique kind of persons that can actually tell me more than a straight point tat I could care of the next time
also for the hand, just doing this bone bump will help I think
it will add 3dmentionality to it
yep i'm gonna make it man, th really
I really liked the guy's face, the hard shadow looks amazing, great job
we're all going to make it
if you need anything just @ me 8)
i did it while streaming it so i didn't pay that much attention while doing it, so i think I did the best I could for this time
of course I will
idk man I can't solve it
should be approx. 9
k thanks
Idk how old you are but I think your proportions are really good esp the girls. I think you used colored pencils. With colored pencils u have to work very lightly and gently because you cant really blend them otherwise.
And oil based or wax based pencils really make a big difference in your drawings. Big sets are expensive and too much for a beginner, who has no experience with these pencils. But you could buy a small set.
I would even give it a 9/10, its the pencils that dont perform well not you, you did well with the choice of colors though
does anyone have any tips for indesign? i have to layout a whole book til june 7th for a uni project and i can't figure out how to do it right 🥺 if you know any good step by step or ANYTHING REALLY pls tell me im desperate T_T
what are you designing/have to design?
Yep I used colored pencils, I’m 16
Thanks, I use prismacolor junior, the 24 set literally
Yupp but if you want to level up your game I suggest you using the premier ones. Its more expensive tho but totally worth it
Uhh i need to do some comic strip for my homework but i dont have any idea what can i do
Idk dude, I feel like if I can’t do some good stuff without prismacolor premium then I don’t deserve them
Maybe about a video game, a little story
Oh good idea thank you
I once made a story with brawl star characters, ever since I didn’t want to create by myself characters
what is your homework about?
Youre good tho
Layout a whole book? are you only creating the design aspect of it or are you given a whole copyright file that you have to design around? Maybe give us a rundown on what u need to do.
my teacher gave us a novel's script and we have to do the layout and design using indesign
⬆️
Does ur professor want u to make a Document file or Book file? I'm personally not familiar with using Book file in InDesign. I only know Document but u can still set up a whole novel with it as long as u're familiar with setting up Master pages which makes designing process so much faster and Guidelines for how you want the text structured throughout.
we can use a document file. i know the basic of master pages but that and all the styles and stuff sometimes are really confusing
i'm really terrible at everything that involves editorial design :c
May I ask what the novel's script is about? Have u picked out a theme?
What kind of styles are u trying to use?
guys !! what's your favourite brushes in procreate? and why?
I'm obsessed with the texture you created for the hard shadows!!
give off a very soft tone wich fit my cloudy theme and art style
easy to shade with it due to the blur
go very well with my line weight
the cons would be that its tough to use
filling in leaves spots behind
erasing it cause the softness and blur to go away sooo you can re do too much
if you you use transform tools it will get even more blurry
i gotta try this one thanks a lott
hi everyone! so im an artist who is switching from autodesk to procreate. So far i love procreate but i dont understand how to blend colours, can someone explain?
All you have to do is use the smudge tool!
oh thank you!
hum...idk? 🥺
Looks amazing

thanks!
Youre welcomee
what do you think about this luminous art?
cool light, but no shadows
and it is kind of difficult to understand where the light source is coming from
all the group muscles are missing and the brachioradialis is too bulky + wrong place
the proportion is kinda strange too, the deltoid is too small imo
this is better
Hello~ I have a question to who does 3D art, have you used 3D max? And is it possible to work on mac because I heard it works for Windows TvT
the extensor digitorum is missing too
In this video i'm going to show you how to install 3ds Max on Mac OS with Parallels Desktop 15. First I'm going to download and install 3ds Max 2020 on macOS Catalina, after that i'm going to use it with primitives and I'll check a render.

Yaaay!!! Thank you so much! I appreciate your help
very nice
I’m not an artist per say, but I really like the way the colors complement each other and the way you made the bricks look kind of overgrown 😌
Hey I have just started sketching as a hobby but I don’t really know from where to start and end (the sketch) and would like advice on other things in sketching as well. All dms are welcome .
they say to just paint the stuff as it is, not what you think it is
like you trace the outline of the stuff u wanna imitate, instead of drawing the symbols that represent the thing
for example:
you dont draw a stickman, you draw the person
you suck at first, cause you just started duh lol
i suck at first as well
but if you are really dedicated, you'll get better with time
that's my 2 cents on the thing
Hey,do u think that I should use any specific tools for it and what r your recommendations?
you have a pen/pencil and paper? it's enough to start
just do something
present it
then someone will appreciate it 😄
hopefully, that appreciation will boost you up
that's just my opinion
Haha thank u buddy
Hi : ) what do you guys think? im pretty new to shading and i feel that this looks a bit flat
I started by drawing portraits of celebrities from movies or TV shows I loved
Like my first one was ryuk from death note
Just an HB pencil and A4 printing paper
Then I got set of 6 Artline drawing pencils (HB, 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B, 10B)
And an A4 drawing file
Different shades of pencil can help with darker tones
Here's a collage of all I made so far. Latest is of Venom
Damn dude u got some sexy skills

Sure thanks buddy😊
Btw your sketches look really good 👍
it looks good but you certainly need to add more values
all the shadows are too soft

^^ more contrast in the hair would really help (darker strands and shadows from hair)
i love how the shading on the face's skin looks tho. super soft and relatively well blended together. the lips could use a more solid line for where the mouth opens but it also depends on what style you're aiming for
Thar professor is sexy, you should draw Berlin
The professor in pajamas though
anyone want help w music theory?
love the artwork here
Any tips on how to make free hand PERFECT lines? Badly need help
i love thiss
@gentle fossil you drew that hand free ? 😯
That looks so perfect just like you drew it with a ruler, how awesome !
My tip for drawing straight lines has always been: drawing using the strenght movement from your shoulder (long lines) or from your elbow (shorter lines), depending on how you want to portray the line
Naaah asked my prof bout it said itstll needs consistency lmao idkwtd
Thaaaaankiyoooooooo😘
does anyone have any tips on painting lips (oil paint)?
im currently trying to pain the girl with the pearl earring but i can't get the lips to look good
continue doing until you're satisfied
you will eventually get better
no way around
wanted to show some progress
Does anyone have any tips for 2d animation? Specifically with animating clothing?
Maybe, big maybe, try making lines with a pen. We tend to over correct when using pencils. And maybe that finalty of a pen is something that might help. Idk.
When we used to draw buildings and inner perspectives our teacher recommended pen over pencil, because with the pencil and eraser thing one tends to fuss too much over a line. Idk.
very pretty :)
ah yes, thats a good idea! 😍 will you color it later on, as well?
ah understandable, ye it already looks very nice like that so yea :D
yea please! 😍
just for fun, here's nobara:
Nice job, did you draw this on paper or on an electronic device?
tablet + photoshop lol. and thank u! ✨
Do you have a behance profile or something similar?
I do have a personal web portfolio but that has personal info lmao. Behance will have to wait till I have an official style 🥲
WOW! That HAND!!
u like
?
😳 It's incredible! Love the perspective on it
Thank you lmao even though it's all chicken scratch
oc x ushi
you gotta tell me the name of ur webtoon if you actually end up publishing them
i still need somewhat help on the kid design tho
there's gonna be a kid too?
this is gud on god
this is the first design
looks very promising
ooo, then the character design is great (from what i can see)
thank you!
i even have a story coming upp
wanna see?
YESYES
i have sketch so far
you dont have to ask me twice!
btw her name is arimura
kasumi
so the ship is called ariushi
but i prob need to think of something cooler
arimura. the name suits her character design
thats.....really catchy 😳
cloud is the theme thats why
cloud? how are they two connected?
kasumi means mist or haze
her hair is cloud sunset color
and have very bouncy but dense personality
i see the connection, niceee
NICE
oh my god you put in a lot of thought into her design whaa
thats so good ;---;
ty beb
well thank you
there an entire love story that im working on
Dudeee how do u draw blood man I’m struggling so much to make it look gluey
I’m on procreate anyone know what brushes are better to do blood
honestly, u dont need a specific brush. Idk how procreate calls their brushes but I just use hard round or hard stroke brush to draw out where the blood will be. Then to shape it out, use a low opacity or soft eraser to shape and fade out how I want the blood to look. I'll try to find the closest a video closest to how I do it.
**Consider: **
Is it dripping from a source? was it splattered? what direction was the splatter? Where will it leak to? (if it's like from nose to mouth, the blood would go all over the crevices of the lips then down to the chin as gravity pulls) is it dried or fresh? If it's being smeared, it'll be streaky, etc. etc.
This'll do. She's got it going in speed paint but tbh, you'll get the gist of it just by watching--at least I feel that way >_> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nl4iJTxC9v4
guys can anyone tell me what materials and techniques were used in this painting (The River Nile, Van Diemen's Land, from Mr Glover's farm 1837) plzz im struggling and can't find it online
ahh thats amazing😍
no sorry...no idea ;-;
❤️ i ship them hhaahah
nice :D
oil on canvas
heres the link
if it miss anything let me know
ohh thank you sooo much
This is a draft for a small animation (wind blowing clothing and hat), and if anyone can give me tips on making it more realistic I'd really appreciate it. This is the first animation I've actually done so I have hardly any idea what I'm doing. 😢
Damnnn just seeing this and WOW
really good dude 👍
Thank you so much!
oh what u using? adobe animate or?
yee adobe animate, I've never used it before so I've been trying to figure out some of the features
Oooooh im not a huge fan of adobe animate but it's really the only software i've done animation on lmao. I think u did a pretty good job on the windy animation. R u gonna add more inbetween frames?
just wanna share a doodle of our savior 🙇♀️
anyway, can anybody recommend resources for learning crosshatching?
Oh yea definitely, hopefully I finish most tonight
Aphonso Dunn on Youtube
ohh i'll check him out, thanks!

hi
so nice
music is art, right?
yes
yes siiir
hey guys... i REALLY don't know much about artistic drawing or ever anatomy and stuff. this person was supposed to be a pilot, i guess (yeah i've drew a "helmet" cause idk how to draw hair.) but i don't know what i'm doing anymore lol
i'm gonna cry, does anyone have a material for me to improve my drawings? I'm suffering to do the art activities
(please don't laugh at my wonderful pilot.)
it's a good start! I think this looks nice as it is. Is there a reference photo and r u trying to aim for realistic look or semi-realism?
Very new to digital drawing, a quick sketch I made between lessons
oh thank you 😂
so... my goal is for it to be semi-realistic and i've kinda just took the idea out of my head, i didn't use any reference photo
wow. this is so good, loved it
me likey
highly recommend to always start with basics if u wanna get to semi-realism. It's a tedious process to go step by step but basically "Learn the rules to break them" type of scenario
I'd go straight into studying shading / lighting with basic objects especially spheres and then you can study the anatomy of the skull if you want to get better at faces and heads at least that's what has helped me
Learn shapes, 3D shading, and sure u can try to jump onto drawing ppl immediately but anatomy is hard when u dont get the base down, especially the concepts of shapes. Depends how u wanna learn it in order but I would add perspectives soon cuz it helps with creating dynamic poses look even MORE dynamic lmao
it hard but it's fun!
Thanks for the tips! 🙂 It's a little hard for me to lose the pencil and paper feel, but I believe I will get used to it later
yeah, I really think this will help me. sometimes i don't have time or i get lazy...... but I really want to improve so i'll start studing hard from the basics, i'll try my best to stay motivated :)) and thank you again!
whats a good 3d model program thats free? i wanna make some fashion designs and i have no idea what to do. (i tried clo3d and that shit was too hard
good old Blender is perfect
bet
is it easy to use?
and do i gotta download other models?
try 24 fps/2 frames per second. focus on timing and maybe even try copying animations that have anything flowy (clothes, hair, w/e)
https://youtu.be/JKSeADfrd94 it not lit but i got it done
Wanted to add more stuff - someone walking in the background, more shading and the person in the background reacting.
Unfortunately during the 2021 spring semester I had to constantly take my dogs to the vet every other week for about 3 months straight due to new and old health complications. Covid vaccine knocking me out wasn't helpful either.
yes and no, but you can download other models very easily
oooooooo! I like how this piece still has a really traditional/sketchy feel. Personally, I think it's really cool and unique when digital art still has a traditional touch to it. I also really love the concept!
A for effort
Ty ty ty :))
Accurate.
Muah
10/10
damn you guys are good
i really like your style mate
thanks kira, even if i don't have any consistent art style haha <333
Female anatomy

good start good start 👏
I’ll try to submit at least one picture of my studies daily to keep myself from stopping my momentum
Instagram @ outis.01
@spring ore do as much as u can of these..they r so beneficial
@still timber love it <3
Ok!!!! I get these mainly from Pinterest and copy them.
me likey. I like the use of tiny halftones
Thanks!
yeah same
guys new drawing:
i decided to go kinda fun on this one, btw this is the krabby car from spongebob squarepants (if u know that show)
ahahahha Oh my goodness this is cute
✨ 💚 Krusty Kraaaaaab babbyyyy
yes thanks lol
Hi hi anyone down to share with me female hand models for a game? Or if someone down to work with me in my project I'd love to collaborate
female hand models? like 3d models or just reference photos?
snownownownownownownow
Any suggestion on how to make a simple egg shell mosaic art?
Nice~~ this is a really cool concept, right now I'm trying to practice digital painting as well, can i draw a similar concept as a practice?
@silent gull yes have fun😊
Thanks!
anyone here doing architectural drawing and sketches? want to learn how to do them so i can add them to arch profile for college next year
I'm a 3rd year architecture student! Would be happy to help @tepid cove
Iam currently doing the same - just for male
Coolio
Alright day two
Which part do you mean?
aaaaah
Wow
omg it looks so good
Another quick sketch that i liked
Me likeeeyyy
Maybe it's just me but I recommend using a lighter, mid-tone gray rather than ones nearing black on the gray scale. The one I tend to use is this hex: #959595 . Especially since u're using black to sketch, the visibility will be better 👍
yooo
new attempt at drawing a person...
Improvement
hey, can I ask a question about music in this chat...?
Does this chat say music?
imean you could if you want. music is an art and theres no music help chat so ask away!
Either way go ahead
yeah ok
does anyone know what's the best type of cable to connect a keyboard to a notebook?
to kinda transmit the keyboard audio to the notebook
Smol brain for tech sorry
Good luck m8

I'lll see if any of my music friends know but I can't guarantee
overall I think it looks fine! I think some frames can be added more (or revised) at the beginning for ur OC. Some anatomical/proportion criticism: ur OC's torso may need tweaking (especially the first seconds of frames.) Correct me if im wrong (anyone), I feel like Ushi's upperleg/quad wouldn't be visible in this angle even if he's squatting. I think the way his calves already shift is enough to indicate he's prepping to catch the volleyball serve.
highlight
looks better
😄
Yep
wo u guys so good at digital art, i havent even touched a ditital program to do art
i only do traditional
i kinda also like traditional better
but thats just my opinion
I used to do digital but no more pc so traditional now
3d hand models yes
show

Harambe

what do you consider spiritual theme?
something that has to do with religion, or anything in common like nature, wildlife etc. the colour pallete plays a important role in this type of painting
not able to decide
nature? studio ghibli

Art
help
Same
help on...? Only thing I can suggest is flip ur canvas to fix any issues u didn't see prior (flip horizontally if using photoshop or reflect ur canvas if that's how it is on other softwares to see another view of ur art)
more tones I guess. It looks too close to each other
who
Tones look to close to each other? what?
you said "help" and this is the way I am helping
it is your choice to think if it is helping or not
yes it isn't, but I think it could get better with more different tones
I think = opinion
i know, i just ask why you think so
because I think it would look better and it can add more three dimensionality
better = more realistic
yeah, agreed. Adding more values to your grays will add more depth. @strong rivet U've got the base details down, now just add more to it so u can show more details like the darkest shadows, midtones, etc.
Open mindset
something wrong with: ass
It's not realistic
the trunk should be turned more strongly, and the right arm, depending on its position, is less visible.
you cannot turn your head in this position of the torso
The body has a muscle(anatomy) and we have plays where's shadow always in Some plays, learn it in internet(anatomy)
Because your shadows too not well
with?
it doesn't seem like perspective is really used here tbh. I know it is only a sketch but I think it's the most important step to make a believable drawing
i mean
shes looking down
at us in that angle
yeah but it looks more like symbols than cylinders on space
oh yeah that helps...
hi, anyone here knows how to use After Effects?
he's an adult version of Near from death note. opinions?
beautiful hair
thanks
Guys what are oil paint necessities? I have brushes, oil paint but I know there are mediums like paint thinner and stuff
But idk which brand is affordable and good
And what type of paint thinner I need
imo the first or the last one. The first one has "more" to it because of the little mushroom on the top right side but the last one seems more real

will go with third tyty
hey bb, if u need further explanation, i dont mind talking in dms. Im also learning anatomy and the biggest help so far for me is Michael Hampton's book "Figure Drawing: Design and Invention." Here's my take on urs:
Imagine the upper body as 2 3-D squares that always open up depending on the spinal curve.
I really like ur shading btw
💚
bruh what this i love it
✨
Hey) I Know)
cool, I'm trying to upload an image but I only want it to last a few seconds, is that possible? A tried to shorten it the same way I do it in Premiere but it won't let me.
Yes, you want just cut the video or u want to speed it up?
none hahaha, i just want to adjust the duration of the image to a few seconds (my video i going to be around 30 seconds to 1 minute long more o less)
do you know if that is possible? since I haven't found the tool to do that (I just opened the program yesterday for the first time ever, maybe I didn't see it)
Thanks for telling my mistakes
I m soo happy that i joined thizz server
So if u're trying to do perspective, u may need to amp up some things a little bit more because even though shes looking down, it's kinda falling flat cuz nothing else is helping with the angle. What u have now is good. Here's just my take on it. I've changed the leg pose to add on to the perspective a bit more and just making it dynamic (I have some anatomical preferences so take what u will from this 😅). @karmic jay maybe u can add more to this idk
Nice
very cool, srry cant give u feedback im not really good at drawing humans, so to me that looks perfect
idk if u were looking for feedback anyways, but oh well
guys vote for ur fav
wowie ur so talented! im proud of u :))
thx so much really means alot, vote by reacting to ur fav drawing
ur welcome :3
:3
man, the reflection work is craaazy
on which one?
yellow and red one
oh thx
superb fren
you did a great job to explain it imo. I can add some more by showing thid
I did it in like, 15 minutes and it's a clear example of how perspective can dictate the right dimensions and space of the human body
and I think it helps in almost any drawing, not just this one specifically
I just placed some boxes and added the gesture
I know it does not help saying "uuh so ez lol"
but it is very much easier to do it right than to do a """lazy""" job and not studying the fundamentals
Yeah I feel the same lmao , yellow and red r my favorite at immediate first glance 😄
also @delicate bridge thanks for @ me, I really like to help people here 8)
Hi I’m new here 🙂 does anyone have any tips how to make the colour scheme of each character fit together better as a group? Especially with purple girl I don’t think the colours fit together with the other characters
It’s a commission so I can’t change any of the colours too much from what the person asked for
Hopefully I’m making sense 😅
@deft citrus how do you think her burple doesn't work?
She just kind of sticks out since her colours are quite cold where everyone else has like warm browns in there somewhere
Like she’s in a different kind of lighting almost
maybe less saturation on the color?
I understand
Also any other critiques (anatomy or anything) are welcome haha
I’ll keep tinkering with the colours 🙂
the illustration is great imo @deft citrus
but if you feel like changing it, go for it
I personally cannot help too much, I think there is nothing really wrong with it
maybe it's the lack of "real" background? like, if they where on a forest or something it could look better
yeah I think the illustration is rly nice as it is. The lighting on the icy-purple skinned girl makes sense with the rest imo. The directional lighting seems to be above and to the right which is shown on all of them just right 👌
If u used photoshop, u could even play around the lighting more under Filter > Render > Lighting Effects to see if u wanna exaggerate it more or look at it in different types of lighting (if ur PC permits. I cant use it often cuz of my poopy graphics card * cries *
)
Hi art peeps, I have a bit weird question, but is it okay to have nudity drawing is your portfolio?😭
I feel it may confuse some people, but like... I have a really nice one that represents my style and my drawing ability so clear! It's not an art portfolio, it's more about web development, but it's under the section Digital Drawing....
Did anyone have resolved the same problem?
to answer, it depends @next rampart
what is your portfolio about?
if it is about drawing people in a scene, then maybe
Web/Game Development, but because I dont' have much to show from my sphere I'm tring to show my best sides that might be helpful in Game Design too
if it is a game development, then maybe no
like, not because it is "illegal" or something
but there is no purpose to see a nude drawing when you are trying to show your programming/designing skills
maybe if it is ideas based on a human naked body, like playing with anatomy, then maybe yes
it's a good point! hmm.. I'm just afraid I don't have much to show other than that in terms of design, but thanks anyways! I'll think about it a bit more
then do it more! I understand the struggle but maybe this shows how much you lack and you can use this as a boost
to create more
Fair enough! I will try that
Oh thank you
that looks SO good!!!!
I love it
❤️ thank you!
oh ok, thanks
could you explain?
Hey guys, do any of you have recommendations for beginner cameras? Specifically one that can be used for both video and photo?📷
my dad still uses the Canon one, I have used once and loved it
my dad is a professional camera man, he shoots photos and videos and this was his first camera
good enough for him, it might fit you too
I'll definitely look into these! Thank you so much, this is really helpful!
np fren, I hope you can find the perfect camera for you
Looks like a witchy hand
Oh nice! Is this your character or from a show or something
I was doing commissions and they picked this image
It’s between friends type of commission. I don’t get payed
Nah that aint flying with me even with my friends. If it's something complex like this, they gonna pay at least my usual with some discount. If it's a doodle and a sketch, I dont mind them getting it free
Lmaooooo
I guess I’m just too friendly
Damn
My AoT Photoshop Edit lol
Photo shop
Now photoshop a loli and make it mega kawaii
Canon M50
Here are some shots I took with my M50
It's a very good camera and it's easy to learn on
@tall violet
dang, these look awesome!
Thanks!
Okay has anyone got ideas for an art project which has to to with sneakers and “perishable”?
perishable as in food?
can you make sneakers out of food 😂
sounds like a pretty cool project to me
Yeah well its perishable like in food but for example fashion is also perishable
Dont know if thats the right word tho I looked it up bc I didn’t know how it was called
oh cool, so it could be related to trends that have gone out of style?
Ayo that’s what I was thinking!!!
i feel like theres an abstract link between function of sneakers as well like 'walking' cuz shoes take ppl where they want to go ? idk maybe that links somehow
Yeah exactly because time is scarce
Maybe that’s a better explanation, it has to be related to the scarcity of time
So it could have to do with food, but also with clothing style, or culture etc
fast fashion ? how theres like thousands of shoes w similar but slightly diff design
im just thinking of the 'walk a mile' saying lol
That could be cool! Maybe ill add it into the design
Yeah also a good idea! Don’t see any possibilities of making some art about shoes with it tho
what kinds of art are allowed? just 2d images or sculptural stuff
Everything that can be handed in via google Classroom
And that is possible to finish in around 5 hours
Did you leave it for last hour? xD

Hi folks,
I'll be meeting up with a production manager from an animation studio based in LA, Cali. One of their recent projects have been: "Over the Moon" "Age of Sail" "June" "Dear Basketball" "Duet" and more. Their Founder, Glen Keane, was the one who created The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Beast, Tarzan, and Rapunzel.
So if curious! DM me or ping here what you're curious about in the animation industry. Will be meeting them in 2 hours as I post this.
holy shit

i like ur art
@calm merlin hello drawirist
Thanks!
I'm a beginner too, the technology looks stunning now
yeahh I like the new version as well but keep struggling with those buttons 😔
made some 3d lamps for a lil project im doing (the project being more lamps for a lamp store which i have learned requires a lot of lamps)
lamp lamp lamp lamp lamp
Those are some beautiful LAMPS
thank
ur pfp is art itself
yours is nice ^^, where is it from it looks familiar
oh it's my personal illustration of me ahhahaha where'd u think u've seen it from?
oh thats dope!, i must be buggin then
They are really cool - what tools are you using?
Thank you, I'll check those out
How long did your lamps take?
About an hour each
That's really impressive. 💪
Ty ❤️ feel free to hmu if u ever need help with 3d related stuff . Always down to help.
Thank you 🙏
Thanks!
behold.. a r m (just a quick sketch I did in my free time)
the forearm looks short but otherwise pretty good!
yeah haha I think I ran out of paper space 😓
thankss 😌
Woah !
Still cool as hell :0
❤️
i love it
this is super good, great job on shadows too i love it
thank ü
thanks a lot, btw those two had no references, was trying to be comfortable again doing it
and this man's from one of my dreams, he appeared for two consecutive times so i drew him
i'm trying to stop drawing with references too but i catch myself going back to it every time cuz i fail. do u have any tips maybe??
maybe draw with ref for now and then do that drawing without ref after the first session
thats what i do when i get tired of references
repeat everything just from memory
ima try this, tysm!
aight man! let me see that when its done
cool i will! gotta finish these last 2 days of finals and then i'll have time to draw again
there's nothing wrong with drawing from reference 🙂
unless you've mastered anatomy and everything already
there's so much benefit to using references
That's soo cool, what kind of brushes do you use?
shading in the hair and eyes is pretty dark but there isnt as much under the neck, so i would give more shading under neck. also add more shading or creases in clothes? its coming out pretty cool though!
Okayyy thank you so muchh☘️i will try it out
my brother challenged me to draw Vegeta !!! and here’s the result
Good luck on that!
Yes!!!
I use the default brushes on Medibang, but the brushes I mostly use for renderings are the round brush and oil pastel.
I am now exploring the wonders of the flat brush hahaha
If anyone has an art twt here or ig let me follow you! ❤
u can find more of my art here:
ig/twt: @inpulblum
and no this is not a promotional hahaha
niceee 👏
thank you ❤️
You're AWESOME 💕🌸🌸🌸😳😳😳😳😳
omg
thank you 💜
My bad, deleted it
try shading the hair, too much white space is there and same goes with the neck
and also try defining the left eye (lateral inversion) a bit more
i made three drawings last week, this is one of them
reflection. i have no interpretation for this.
drawing black people, is a whole different aesthetic in iteslf. this is the third one
Okay,,thank youu
try adding a brighter bg color and hints of different colder shades cuz i rly feel the canvas is a bit blank
and it'll also elevate the woman a bit more
yes?
he hot

used to paint last semester, these were my last (both unfinished). but yeah... engineering and fine art don’t go together lol
but if anyone wants help with oil painting / realism... i got u 😉
very nice job
thank you!
you better help me in the future then 😭 🙏 i chose art for my a levels and I'm not all that good at oilpainting
I feel like engineers are always good at art!
sure they are, it's part of their job
Love this to bits
so cool!
sure thing! you can message me anytime on instagram, i just use it more often @collar.ful
also😩 i heard a lot about a level art being so demanding. damn. i admire your passion in wanting to pursue it. best of luck!
So pretty!!
https://www.artstation.com/artwork/nYkQ4o finished my lamps
Felt the sudden urge to make a bunch of ornamental lamps, always loved how these looked and thought itd be fun to have a go. Mini project that took approx 1-2 hrs per lamp. 500-3k polys each. 2k map set. Patterns done with an alpha (with blur and -height to give the edges a more realistic look).
that didnt look dodgy at all lmao
hiii does anyone here know any good and free websites/apps to draw 3d-shape products??
Hey anyone here can give me some advice on learning anatomy
im still learning anatomy so idk if u should use my advice cuz i suck but using reference of a body when drawing is important if u wanna learn, u will then learn to memorise how to draw one i think ? i study visual arts i should actually know this 😭😭
Np dude you can do it and thank you for your advice
thanks and you’re welcome:’)
You are the best dude thank you
oooh I'll respond to u later LMAO. I'm also learning anatomy but I have some recommendations 😂 !! I'll respond during my work break
Thank you
i’m not really big on 3d art but i’ve heard of tinkercad @safe glacier
woah. these are STUNNING
thank you!
ty
AAAAAAAAAAAH Sorry I got so tired from work that I friggin fell asleep after eating. Stupid food coma.
Anyways, when you're starting off in anatomy, you probably shouldn't jump on it immediately unless u're already comfortable with shapes and lines. I know that can sound like it's easy peasy but the more comfortable you are with those, the easier learning anatomy can be since almost every part of anatomy is broken down through said things.
Perspective (to show depth) and form (to create the illusion of 3D) can also help you with anatomy. These 2 basic concepts can be applied while u practice shapes/lines to get comfortable with them. Now to skip some things...
I'm currently learning a pretty simplified version of anatomy with this book: https://www.amazon.com/Figure-Drawing-Invention-Michael-Hampton/dp/0615272819 along some other references but let's stick with this one for now. Even though I've studied anatomy before starting again, I don't think I've ever fully focused on the things he talks about in his book. It's perfect for beginners because it's straight forward, simple, and it gets you where you need to be. In his book, he also breaks down shapes and lines to see how it's implemented when learning anatomy.
Besides this book, when I'm trying to get a pose I have in mind, I tend to use myself as a reference because sometimes, despite the vastness of the internet, what you have in mind may not be exactly how you want on those pose references on pinterest, deviantart, etc. If you want to do quick practices, then by all means, find photo references on pinterest or just google images and try to break them down with the knowledge you have in anatomy to see the progress you have when you observe a person (at least in this instance, we are focused on human anatomy rather than animals and plants). Im talking about using actual photos of people rather than already broken-down anatomical drawings. However, trying to imitate those anatomy references can still help!
One more thing: when learning anatomy, don't worry about making the pose perfect. When you start to get conscious of how some parts look, it'll start affecting the way the person is drawn and it can start stiffening the look of their position rather than making it dynamic. You're practicing and learning after all so it's allllll good.
This is long, I know LMAO, but if you need more emphasis, I'm sure others here can chime in or if you want me to look at somethings to give feedback, my PM is open. Hope this helps! If not, then.. oops.

didnt know you were into novel writing nai 👀
Btw can I ask a question?
Yes sir, u can
As you said learning perspective would make it easy to learn anatomy should I do perspective simultaneously
if you want to! i think it comes in naturally when u learn basics before anatomy tbh but if u want to do it with anatomy already, go for it. I think it's more of a matter of what you're comfortable with right now. You can try it out and see if it feels like you're okay with it. However, if it's overwhelming to learn perspective while learning anatomy, you should hold off and just learn basics of art with perspective, rather than with anatomy. U can learn anatomy without perspective but that lessens more options for you in terms of what you can draw. (Idk if im making sense. Im typing after my 1 round of workout
im kinda dying--)
essentially, understand your pacing. I'm not sure what level u're at to tell you a more specific answer but yeah
okay thank you so much!!
pretty unrelated but do you have any recommendations on how to study perspective and form?
i made a shark
this is unbelievably helpful.. tysm!!
did a sketch for like an hour and instantly gave up. opinions?
Damn, looks good
any improvements i can do?
right eye is smaller than left , blood from the eye doesnt flow / Look Like that and head is a Bit small compared to the shoulders
nose Looks a Bit weird since you are showing a Front View but the nose kinda Looks Like a 3/4 view because only one nostril is showing really
might be wrong on that tho
I really like how the fabric is coloured
this is sick 👍🏽
the 'blood' isn't blood, it's a red accent i added because i left it on grayscale and had to add contrast to break it up. thanks for the feedback ^^
i was also trying out a death note-esque art style
thanks <#
Welcome back!
This is the final page for this fight, hope you have been enjoying this journey! I will be back soon with more works stay tuned!
