Yes, i will list pretty much what you need to master it. Take in consideration that this is construction + observation, not only sight size:

I need you to memorize this grid, it is required for you to be able to remember this all the time you are drawing.

Within this grid, it is important for you to also spend lot of time with the skull

you can use this simplification at the beginning, but i recommend you to actually draw a real skull, from different angles.

After this give it a try :

This is a male european skull, make sure to also understand the female skull.

it is at little bit different

but has lot of similar things.

Make sure you have memorized the basic head grid from the major angles, front, 3quartrs and side view. Also make sure you have memorized somewhat of the skull, even if its only the simpler version.

2nd step.

Start with facial features such as eyes, nose, mouth and ears, you need this somewhat memorized too. From profile, side view and tree quarter view.

Make sure you are drawing from actually masters, dont copy anything you find on the internet, after going to the facial features its time to learn the abstractions of the head.

This is a very simple one, but it will help you understand the gestural flow of the human facial configuration.

This is a more advanced version of the same:

After training with this, you will start doing drawings on real people, such as these ones.

Later on you will need to do shadow mapping and value study.

People I need help with my setup, I'm changing the walls to a fake brick wall of 2 different colors (white and grey) and you can cut the pieces as you want and mix both brick colors. Just like this one

Offcourse this one on top is simple and 0 creative, but I don't really know how to arrange the colors/bricks in a creative way and somehow as well clean. I could even buy some more colors and try to create a real painting, but that is just too risky. How would you creatively mix white and Grey bricks on a wall?

What’s ur medium and what do u usually make? I was in a creative rut maybe 2 months ago (I’m majoring in painting for my bfa) and what helped was doing something way outside my comfort zone- I worked abstract (usually I work more figuratively). even tho the work I made wasn’t the most interesting or impressive, it really challenged me and it felt soooo good to make something challenging without putting pressure on the outcome :p
These r the paintings I finished with and it honestly had changed my entire practice even tho they were just short 1-2 day paintings

Does anybody know any good resources for learning how to sing?

I've sang now for around 6 years now, mainly in choirs, and really to learn how to sing you just need to be singing all the time. Sing the songs on the radio or in your home and whenever you can that's not annoying or embarrassing.

Once you're more comfortable singing (dont over think it), just join a choir at a church or if you're in school and then offer choir, take it. You may have to audition, but that's a 50/50 and unless it's really competitive, choirs just want singers, so you shouldn't have problems in that regard.

If you can afford it, and prices vary depending on location, it's worth getting a private voice coach and just meeting once a week or every two weeks, just to get individual critique from a professional.

I'm gonna assume that you're most concerned about technique and music. You learn music really quickly when you join a choir if you're actively trying to learn. Ask questions. Technique is harder to explain, but #1 is usually diaphragmatic breathing (look up yt vids).

Sounds clichéd, but seriously just have fun. Some of my favorite memories are from choir, and you really grow with the music and the people there, which will launch your singing as well.

hello i just started studying at art uni and im having a hard time fit to my teacher's standards as she wanted to see my work that i do in my free time. I didn't have my sketchbook with me so i only showed her my digital art (i started drawing digitally more often) which she replied she is not familiar with and it does not mean anything to her and now i feel bad 🥲 however my traditional paintings and the stuff i did on entrance exams were okay because i was the 3rd yet she still compared my digital paintings to one traditional i had a picture of and told me the traditional looks worse and that we'll see how i do in her art classes.

i am sorry if this is chaotic but I just came here to say that i am not sure if i will fit into this art uni since the teachers do not work with digital art but it could still help me to have a higher chance of getting a job which is probably the only motivation i have right now.

hey rmb that art is subjective and everyone has different preferences. Just bc your teacher was not impressed with your digital art doesn't mean it's not good or that you're not talented🫶 . Art should be about self expression and creativity, not about meeting other people's expectations. Keep practicing your art, experimenting with different mediums and techniques, and making art for yourself and your own enjoyment first and foremost. be proud of yourself for being brave enough to pursue your passions!

thats ok, you don't have to decide right away, it's always good to give things a try first and see how it goes. It's also possible that even if you're not learning digital art, you can still find other ways to practice it on your own time and gain knowledge and experience from this school. So don't be too hard on yourself for not meeting other people's expectations, and take the time to explore your options and decide what's best for your own personal path.

if you're a 2d artist try to learn about cross hatching and shading basic forms and shapes, the cross hatching helped me give texture to my art and visualize it in 3d so i can handle it better when you're getting started : it's all about breaking down your art into simple shapes and applying a simple shadow to it

Very nice try maybe adding more shades of gray to add even more depth to them it like if you you only have one F grad pencil to work with you can't get as much rage as you can with H4 D6 together. Hopefully that helps

start by building up a community post as much art as you can it can only help you, you can also share your art with other artists via art trades or "draw this in you style" and art-trends can help you too, then you can start building a chart with prices, stick to the classic services full body, upper body and head shot. The prices are different from an artist to another depends on your level

also art comissions aren't the only way to make money if that is your goal

don't forget to list things you are not confortable illustrating and always ask the client the context of what you are drawing you don't want to end up drawing weird scenes without knowing it

and keep sending progress to your client, ask as much references and ideas from them, anything to get their vision

If you want to draw portraint paintings. I suggest you to study planes of the face first and practice each part of the face from different angles. But for anatomy, I think you should start learning from fundamentals like sphere and boxes.

The nasal bridge does connect with the brow ridge, but depending on the style some people can leave it out if the nose bridge isn't that prominent.

Actually, it really depends on the nose shape regardless! My characters have more prominent noses (the one on the left has a sharper, more triangular nose while the one on the right has a nose that curves slightly outward.)

Yep! For instance, a lot of men can have small button noses while a lot of women can have large hooked noses.

late advice but the best way to start is by drawing things you enjoy (characters from a series you like, things that interest you in your day to day life, etc) to just get a "feel" for drawing. if you focus on anatomy and all that technical business right off the rip it'll be a drag

once you get into your groove then you can start doing research towards improvement !! hope this helps

you have nice selection of color choices and values but i think its important to keep in mind where your light source is coming from. right now your shading is attentive to the object outlines but once you get base colors down try adding shadows and highlights for more depth/contrast based on where the light is coming from. doing that brings out more dimension or as they say alive and dynamic to look at :) so far pretty good tho!

here's a nice hand reference for that posing too. i usually break down the hand into shape parts, circles for joint positions, and lines connecting them to visualize pose. then i stylize the hand for the person (there are many ways to go about it but try breaking it down into simpler shapes) hope this all helps!

what helped me was to understand shapes and human/natural forms and how they work, all you really need is some paper and art materials, tho i would recommend starting off with a sketchbook and getting coloured pencils, pencils and maybe something like oil pastels, watercolour, acryl paint or some other more fun to work with material so learning isnt too regiment

also dont follow books or vids 1:1 but ratehr gather tips and implement them in non straightforward ways

I actually disagree cuz i feel even if i practiced it will be nothing compared to someone who has the talent

imo its all a perspective

i think anyone can paint accurately (given enough time) but when you give a piece your own interpretation is when it gets hard

i think people like to interpret right away without too much knowledge of the form of objects which leads to weird looking paintings

for example we interpret our arms /legs to not be too long and when we paint from that interpretation it looks bad cause our arms and legs are pretty damn long

getting good at painting for me is finding a balance between that interpretation but also keeping the painting pleasing to look at

that "natural talent" might be attributed to that perspective of seeing things accurately without too much interpretation

of course this is just my opinion

because i see my brother drawing :D faces on everything just because they are happy

Try doodling firstly randomly. And yea as the other guy said, simplify stuff. It helps a great deal. Initially you'll have to push hard in order to get great proportions (I did too. I sometimes rubbed the whole thing off and re do it.) but as things progress, it'll be fine.

Go with drawing simple sketches of animals, then move on to drawing cartoon stuff, then move on to people (don't focus on realism or shading stuff yet) just go with basic figures and practice those. Then you can go with shading. In that start with objects and different angles of light. Then again back to people. This way you'll have a structured way to progress 👍👍

i’ve been drawing for almost my whole life and i still consider myself a student. for me, watching master artists or people on social media is really insightful because you get to see a range of different styles/techniques. also it may be tiresome but practicing whenever you can really does help.

That's good, very good. Loved it. I think the hair strands on the right side seem a bit off, they'll look better with more density in beginning of hair and get thinner at end. 👍

Hi ! I'm trying to draw a man's face (the crow) but it's looks a bit feminine face he doesn't have beard or mustache and my drawings look like a girl's face -and even resemble Harley queen because I'm working in charcoal- how can I draw more masculine ? Do you have any suggestions ?

okay so the chin i feel like the one you did is a bit thin, to make it more manly ig you will have to make it a bit bold..the jawline is not like a straight line from chin, if you notice the ref pic you can see there's 2 paths..like its going side and lifting up. Dont you think the nose in ref pic is not going up but instead going straight down? The eyes part im not sure i do have a suggestion but im afraid if im right about it..try the ones i said about nose and jaw..and lmk

I really like the eyes, but what I felt is maybe your eyes are right and the difference is that dark spots around the eyes, like try adding that dark value in your sketch as its in the ref pic

Art is alive when it makes us feel something. Ask yourself does it make you feel something? If yes, then it's alive. If not what was the intention after designing this character? What inspired you to draw this particular one? Once you get the idea of what made you create the character itself, you'll know what's lacking and what's not 🫶🏼
