and on examination inspection palpation percussion and auscultation what we get the findings
If you mean no breath sounds on auscultation
DDx would involve life threatening asthma and upper respiratory obstruction
Assuming no sound Bilaterally
Unitlateral
DDx would include :
1-Congenital diaphragtic hernia (the child was really young)
2-foreign body obstruction
3-Pneumothorax (the breathing could be diminished or absent)
4- pleural effustion (the breathing sounds could be diminished or absent)
Tbh there could be more
Not sure how much you want
I believe it is not foreign body obstructions since he is in distress but it is an emergency procedure because it can be near trachea also
But the question is incomplete, there is not enough history or detail to the q
Also we wont do auscultation , i think we will do direct xray scan to see the location of foreign body and quick removal of the foreign body , who knows the child swallowed battery so its always treated as an emergency procedure since trachea is the most common site for its obstruction
Option 1,3,4 are the most suitable one
but for hx and exmn presentation we have to say the clinical part , invg is not asked in that viva
Please someone answer 7. b.
Life threatening asthma
Answer for B
Is metoprolol
We don't use B-blockers with decompenstaed heart failure
Yes I know , but why... Is it because it will reduce heart rate.. which will reduce CO?
Oh
Well it will cause a negative inotropic effect
So it will weaken the contraction
nah it's digoxin
coz its chronic chf
digoxin is c/i in chronic chf
as it excarbates cardiac remodelling
lvh
left ventricular hypertrophy
beta blockers are actually given in chronic chf, believe it or not
i see 6 years
I mean you are right if this was an acute case
you would be right if it were an acute case
it would be metoprolol in acute case
oh wait
i might have made a mistake
lemme recheck my notes lol
oh yes im right
Yeah sure we give b- blockers in chronic cases
Digxoin takes long time to work so we don't give it in acute cases
That being said
According to first aid book we don't use b-blockers in case of acute decompenstaed HF
Btw why cannot I put pictures here?
yessss
i did say that here :)))
ill change that in a bit
My bad then
I misunderstood your statement
Thanks
the above is a case of chronic chf
we don't use beta blockers in acute chf
in chronic chf, we give b-blockers
we don't give digoxin in chronic chf coz it increases myocardial contractility, which we don't want in chronic chf conditions
in acute chf- we aim for reducing edema, increasing hr and increasing myocardial contractility
in chronic chf- we aim for reducing the load on heart, by vessel dilation and reducing cardiac remodelling (common in long term crisis of chronic chf)
metoprolol is a beta blocker---> used in chronic chf ---> coz it reduces heart work load
digoxin althought has vagomimetic effect (reduces hr), it also increases myocardial contractility which is indicated in acute cases but not in chronic chf
the answer is: digoxin
@brazen wagon @regal patrol
Sorry it was bothering me that i wasnt getting my thought process across
The patient became decompenstaed
Aka the case became an acute decompenstaed HF
We don't use b-blockers in this case
Digxoin needs time to work
But since the patient is already using it
She can continue
Wait a sec
Imma send you picture in dm
"Decompensated heart failure" can be considered both acute and chronic depending on the context
the context here is '6 years'
Sure but a chronic HF can trun into acute Decompenstaed HF
Why was she hospitalised then?
can it?
acute chf*
Imma send you a picture
Tbh it doesn't matter since the whole idea behind digxoin is to relive the symptoms
Yeah thanks
yeah, its not worth the time actually
also im pretty sure this is a question from indian med school uni exams, there's not much thinking involved here
Why would you give it an acute case
Digxoin takes time to actually work
So wouldn't be helpful to start it acute sitting
in acute chf, you use digoxin in conjunction with other drugs (mostly beta agonists and PDE inhibitors)
to make up for the delay
im mostly basing my answers assuming that its a chronic decompensated hf
Wouldn't explain why she was hospitalised
i mean... chronic cases do get hospitalised
for idk long term damage which has accumulated to a condition where hospitalisation is the only answer
Aka complications
yessir
.<
You can see silent chest in case of life threatening asthma
Btw thanks again for allowing me to post pictures
nw, its on for everyone on this channel now, i should have done this ages ago
Hi a-a 👋 so as you know metoprolol (b- blocker) can not be used in decompensated HF… first when someone has lets say, functional cardiac disorder or any cause that leads to reduce ventricular filling or ejection of blood——-> then decreases cardiac output ——> Heart failure. that decreases in CO also causes an initial drop in blood pressure——> triggers a compensatory mechanism, like the body wants to save the other organs bec there is not enough blood coming from the heart. The compensatory mech. is by activation of sympathetic n.s and RAAS, and that would be so helpful for the other organs and organs will get enough perfusion but the problem is that this compensatory activity that will save the other organs over time will hurt the heart ( and the heart is already has the main issue) …sympathetic, RAAS and ADH if it stays stimulated for long time, will lead to chronic stress to the heart and something called ( deleterious remodeling)——-> then decompensated hf occurs ( the heart gets so tired from that activity and even will no more responding to that compensatory sympathetic and etc.) and can’t even work properly so now we are in a state that we wish that this heart can respond to sympathetic stimulation so it can increases its heart rate and contractility not the opposite by giving him something to block it
So that’s why when the heart failure is still ( compensated) , part of the management is to give the patient beta blocker, to block that sympathetic activity from the beginning ( to reduce heart rate and myocardial oxygen demand and also decrease the vasoconstrictors ) that will help to focus on the tired heart already and prevent that state that called ( deleterious cardiac remodeling= decompensated hf) and thats why we call beta blocker ( cardioprotective) . But once the patient stabilizes from the decompensated state then we slowly start to give them the beta blocker again 😁
I actually have an issue also, which is the channel and I think some other channels keep disappearing completely for days then suddenly they show up
i have the exact opposite concept 😭
to prevent the further exacerbation of said 'deleterious cardiac remodelling', we should give beta blockers
not the opposite
by not giving beta blockers, when the heart is already remodelled for eg. left ventricular hypertrophy, you are basically dooming the heart to further complications
it's cause you have already read the messages and there are no new messages to show.
To view those 'hidden' channels, just click on the right facing arrow '>' present on the left side of the respective folder
I’m trying to find a source that can make u change your concept
oh no
:(((((((
@wet tinsel
imma read up more, and give my answer in a few hours
since the food reach the esophagus, the swallowing process become involuntary, right?
Yes
Wait can someone clarify so for ACUTE decompensated HFrEF we DO NOT give beta blockers, we give digoxin for symptomatic control?
But for long term control you give B blocker for HFrEF, correct?
if angiotensin II stimulates adh does that mean angiotensin II is indirectly implicated in a decrease in blood osmolarity?
Yes but it only does so indirectly
A good way to memorize it is angiotensin II is part of your renin angiotensin aldosterone system which wants to INCREASE blood pressure
it does so by vasoconstriction, stimulating aldosterone (which increases sodium and water reabsorption), increasing epithelial sodium channels directly (increasing water reabsorption) and lastly increasing ADH because there are are AT1 receptors in the brain.
that's the way I understood it^ i'm still only studying for step 1
hey nas 👋 no, angiotensin II will not decrease blood osmolarity... so if somone has vomiting or hemorrhage( or any cause of losing water and electrolytes) or call it volume, then the body will do everything to retain that volume(water and electrolytes) so yes angiotensin II will be activated and will stimulate ADH too ( to not letting water go out thru urine, we need that water) but at the same time angiotensin II will activate aldosterone to reabsorb the sodium and not letting it go out too bec the body already in need of that water and Na TOO (to increase osmolarity of blood)...BUT if someone is in the desert and has no access to water (dehydrated) = his blood is hyperosmolar= concentrated with the Na bec no water to dilute it, do you think the body will activate angiotensin II? No, that will lead to adding more Na to blood and the body don't need it, but in case of dehydration or hyperosmolarity of blood, the brain has receptors telling him that we need more water, so these receptors will send signals to pituitary gland in brain to stimulate ADH hormone to stop the kidney from excreting that precious water in the urine for now, and reabsorb it. but only ADH will be stimulated not the RAAS system, we don't need Na in case of hyperosmolarity states
@blissful jolt and @proud sable tysm for your answers
Now yes in acute decompenstaed HF
We don't give acute beta blockers
For digxoin, it takes long times for it to take effect
So usually it's not given in acute decompenstaed HF
But if the patient was already on digxoin, it's okay they can continue using it
I see, so then our main med for acute hfref would be iv loop diuretics and maybe something to decrease overload and preload like a nitro?
thank you btw that makes sense
Yeah true
Treatment involves
-Oxygenation and ventilation
-diuretics
-Nitrates
-and we may give inotropic agents like dobutamine
And sorry for giving a late respond
Didn't see the message
Diuretics are great drugs they can massively reduce oedema and nitrates are always a drug to be given in case of problems related to heart , even some nitrates, others such as nimodipine are still used as best drugs for heart related issues
Whenever any q related to heart comes i always envision all the most common drugs used in it and then i segregate what drugs are given for this particular problem of heart , it becomes much easier
can anyone clarify my understanding of how cortisol interacts with the liver?
cortisol acts directly on the liver by activating genes responsible for taking the amino acids and glycerol to form glucose (gluconeogenesis). Thus, cortisol is responsible for increasing blood glucose levels, pushing our physiology toward a hyperglycemic state.
- glycogenesis also occurs.
- cortisol also increases sensitivity to adrenergic receptors of the liver. thus, when norepinephrine binds to the liver the glycogenolysis pathway, the process where glycogen is broken into glucose, is enhanced. this results in an increase in blood glucose! For this reason, cortisol is known to contribute indirectly to an increase in blood glucose in the liver, as it amplifies the glycogenolysis pathway by increasing receptor sensitivity and driving glycogenesis, a process that increases the amount of glycogen available for use in glycogenolysis.
it just seems counterintuitive that cortisol stimulates glycogenesis, but simultaneously indirectly augments the glycogenolysis pathway that ultimately drives an increase in blood glucose
Cortisol both stimulates glycogenesis and glycogenolysis. It promotes glycogen synthase in the liver to ensure glucose is stored as glycogen in times of low stress so it can be mobilized when needed. SIMULTANEOUSLY it can also indirectly augment glycogenolysis by enhancing the effects of epinephrine and glucagon during periods of fasting or stress. The latter two hormones activate glycogen phosphorylase responsible for breaking glycogen into glucose, and this esp. happens during stress.
overall think of cortisol as catabolic though
gotcha gotcha
very interesting process
Is anyone taking step one or took step one?
I'm stressing TF out atm lol idk if my scores are just luck or not
3 months out nbme 30 I got 57 (lol), nbme 25 I got 63, nbme 26 I got 67, nbme 28 I got 71 and nbme 29 I got 74 I know I'm on a goold upward trend but at the same time when I review my questions I get stressed that I might have just picked the right answer by guessing
prof slides and lots of revision
Guys i need your help
Guys anyone of you got into MIT , Harvard , Yale , Penn , Princeton etc (world's top universites) . if so please dm me . i need your help.
Is anyone here studies/works in the Biomedical Engineering field?
Hi, what is the best way to memorize, since I have the anatomy exam in 14 days, I have to memorize everything, do you have any tips?
Understand first , I loved Sam Webster (on YouTube ) when I was learning anatomy and then repetition and memorization. Drawing it out also helps so much especially for blood supply & venous drainage
Also pictures and imgs are key literally pretend like a you’re a kid looking through a picture book
Hi, I also have a question I struggle with reading an ECG and don’t really understand the whole concept of leads, does anyone have any tips for me
hiii 🫂 so I'm not sure what is exactly your level and tbh I studied EKG many years ago ☹️ and now we don't use calculation, like we dont actually calculate the number of squares to see if there is short or prolonged PR and els....but from ur q, I think you're missing the basic, so I'll try to explain that according to what I learned from dr. Rayan(bnb) long time ago, also I will share a file that might help u hopfully
we have 12 leads EKG, and it is 12 bec there is 12 different recording of electrical activity in the heart, the leads each have a name
look at that pic, lead I , II, III always showing in the left side
then comes leads avr, avl, avf..... followed by v leads = v1, v2, v3, v4, v5, v6
at the bottom of the EKG there is often one or more leads we call it ( rythm strips).. it usually lead II and in that pic, u can see lead II and v1 at the bottom( and these are multiple QRS recorded in a row to make it easier and better for the the physician to read the heart rhythm( itis like a brief)
also there is expanded lead II at the top so we can see the p wave and other things more clearly
When they put the electrodes on the chest and connected it to wires then to the recording machine, u know that each electrode placed on different places, bec the electrical activity in the heart moving in lots of different directions, but what we want is the sum of that electrical activity in the left ventricle
if u look at that heat, u can see the position of each lead, also look at the line with he arrow ( \ ) it showing that each lead observe the electrical activity from defferent view.. and thats why normally lead II show QRS pointing upward, and QRS of avr lead pointing downward
bc avr lead looking at the electrical activity going away from it so qrs will be pointed downward.. now first thing i look for quickly when i request EKG is the QRS of avr lead, if it is upward, then that means that they put the leads incorrectly and they should repeat it.
u can just imagine those leads like persons looking at a car(electrical activity of the heart) , so person avr will see the car moving away from him, but person lead I looking at the car coming towrds him
so if u know the normal EKG, then u will definitely pick any abnormality
and I will share this file it might help or maybe not
ooops! it's not in my phone😁 , I will share it later maybe sorry
Thank you so much, this was such a nice simple explanation- I know feel like I understand the basics better. Now, like for reading EKG do you just memorize how an EKG looks in each heart disease. Like STEMI, you’ll see ST elevation, atrial flutter you see the anarachic EKG, etc or do you use a different method?
@dry ridge we need to start paying our tuition fees to filiz 😭😭 she explained an entire lecture in 5 min
LITERALLY - i understood NOTHING in the EKG class (the professors forget were not cardiologists as well 😭)
awww🥺 I'm so glad you understood my explanation, honestly, it’s hard to explain EKG from my perspective 😁 ...now regarding to your q about memorizing the abnormalities on EKG, you memorize them for sure but you have to know the anatomical locations for each wave then memorize them and that would be much easier and will make so much sense
like for example: you know that the P wave represent the electrical activity that comes from the original signal or impulse from SA node and associated with atrial contraction, so it will make sense to u if any abnormality of the p wave like absent p wave or if it altered, that means the cardiac impulse originates from outside the SA node (abnormal) .. That's an easy example of how u should know the anatomical locations
Could you guys please suggest me a good book for studying microbiology and infections diseases
We kindly thank her for her non profitable efforts
Thank you so much Filiz! - you’re amazing
sketchy micro
i have question for medical students :
do you memorize lectures directly or just read it many times in different days with understanding and practicing question after reading it
I personally write them on a copy book, draw the figures, explain non understandable terms. When finishing the lect, only then I start Raw reciting.
Write only understandable and easy to grasp information even if you have to rephrase it to your language
hey guys can someone help me in finding a research topic which is easy as a beginner
There is something i do is called "kohra kagaz test" in which i just open up a blank paper and write down all the things i remember, well you wont be able to retain more than 50% but then do 1 more time to part which is left and done
Make sure to comprise it in 1 oage

Good trick actually
Isnt it called blurting?
What is blurting
Its the exact same thing you told
does this stuff actually work? I've heard agent 247 yapping about this stuff
Lol i see what agent you talkin about
Well yea it kinda means active recalling
that nishant jindal dude

Can someone tell why i am having headaches like in the back of my head
Is kt beacuse of accumulation of gas from fapping
Just go for a walk or run
Hey, are there biohackers, chiropractors, integrative medicine doctors here?
I am fond of these fields of medicine, I live and study in Moscow, I would like to exchange experience!
does anyone here has a goob understanding on electro-physiology ? i kinda need some help
is someone taking anatomy and physiology 2 or someone who has taken it before? i need help with heart anatomy
Hii, does anyone know how to differentiate between free, omental and mesocolic taenia coli in a quick way? Practical exam upcoming
translate it into latin term, like free taenia is taenia libera- is it free from any attachments,
then taenia omentalis is located where the greater omentum atteches - on the colon transcersum
taenia coli/mesocolica - it is located where mesocolon attaches to the colon
thank you!!
Let that monster rest bro
any US med school students here?
i just failed my vital sign exam
Its fine. Just practice better for next time. Its unrealistic to think just bcoz you are a med student you cant fail a exam
attempt number 1
this isn't help but a confession i hate how some diseases names are so dated they dont make sense anymore
the etymology is crazy
Tomorrow I have the physiology and anatomy exam. I can't explain how scared I am. My heart is beating fast, and I cry from time to time. I like it, but I hate it at the same time.
u have got it
what unit is it
like what is the topic
I just finished studying heart. I plan to teach it as my main subject. But I've already been warned that they make you relate it to everything. So I'm missing urinary, digestive, respiratory, and endocrine studies. My fear is that if I don't pass, I can't take new subjects.
Anyone here preparing for medical entrance exam dm me...
We can crack exam together 👊🏼
to all medical student please can u recommend for me any good telegram channels for me as a 2nd year medical student to find study material please
lichen planus should be renamed it doesn't resemble its' morphology anymore
in simple terms what does each letter of the qrs complex represent ?
I got littmann ii classic pediatric stethoscope as a gift can I use it for older patients ?
damnn i am struggling with it right now
i hate dermatology
i love derma but the theory books don't resemble real cases AT ALL 😭
i feel like I am spinning in circles :DD everything soo similar :DDd
for real dermatology you need a dermatologist on stand by all the time to actually understand it
it do be like dat sometimes
im on cardio rotation now the only thing im scared of is my examiners
cardiologist have really big heads hope it doest get to him when i say something stupid
everyday when i wake up i listen to my heartbeat to remember what a normal one sounds like 😭
i liked cardio, we had great doctor who teaches us
dammn i was scared too
our doctor isn't bad i guess but the examiners are known to be pretty annoying
i already forget all sounds :DDD
i feel you :DDDD
yeah but enjoy your dermatology it's really fun genuinly might consider it as a specialty
or psychiatry
also it's pretty good life balance keep that in mind
life work balance yes yes :DDDD
but i was thinking about these earlier now i am not sure if I want dermatology or psychiatry either
you're also stuck on both ?
i agreee i mean it ironically but yea :DDD
naaaah i already gave up on them
what are you thinking now
endocrinology, maybe reumatologyy, or some pediadrics, little surgery but not sure
soooo hard
oh...
ohh........
well
i can't say i enjoy these
except maybe pediatrics but i haven't done it yet
my uncle is a pediatric kids are awesome when they're not talking
heheh yea kids are fine but annoying
yeah i think i'll enjoy it when i get to it
where do you study?
wooooowww are you not sick from the water hehe
cooooool i wish that short too
naaaah i heard people love egypt, nice people they say
where are you from?
it's not bad but pretty challenging
india?
no i'm middle eastern

i did nothing
i will use simpler english sorry
😭
i am sad that i cant speak properly or understand :DDD
your english is honestly just fine
dont be polite
ok your english is barely understandable
no problem that was sarcastic i actually dont think your english is that bad
you can bestow medical knowledge on me and i can bestow english knowledge upon you
hahahha
it's only fair
do you think so?
mhm nothing wrong with exchanging knowledge
ahh you think i can help you with medicine?
blah blah just say you're bad at embryou
i only study it on exam day
😮
i had a really good histology teacher
cool
my favorite subject is physiology but i never had a good teacher for it
at some point i started learning it by my own
me too
me too, but too much :DDD
sing 😳
i can sing but not well
you'd like my singing maybe if you're deaf
i always wanted to learn an instrument but never had the chance to

what's your favorite book
if u find it i want it aswell please
Could someone help me understand how complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) and hyperalgesia occur as a neuropathic pain condition?
I'm reading some reference materials and bibliographies, but I still can't understand them
im stupid but as far as i know after a nerve injury nerves could become overly sensitive amplyphing pain
reasoning behind stuff like this is usually theoretical as far as i know which makes up a huge portion of medicine so think of it as a theory more than a fact that that is how it works
heyy @proud sable
It’s actually a complex topic so u are not alone in this. I saw ur question few days ago and I told myself to stay away hahahaha cuz it’s actually can’t be fully explained in just few lines but I will try my best.
Also Kenye west, you are very smart person
Hyperalgesia
Is a sign or feature. And it is one of the signs of CRPS. You say that the patient has hyperalgesia if you do pinprick and the patient exaggerates the feeling of the pain. Normally we feel the pain of pinprick and we might just say OOUCH 😁 but if the patient screams loudly then it’s HYPER-algesia. But still we need to know why he has that sign right? So it is not a disease in itself
Complex regional pain syndrome,
from it's name is a syndrome, which means : many signs and symptoms that occure together.
I'll give you a case and I think it's the best way to keep it in our mind
a man was moving his furniture in his office then he hit something and he felt a stab in his right knee, but there was no immediate deformity or swelling or any severe pain and he was walking normally. then after 2 weeks he started to feel severe pain on his Rt.knee, and could hardly walk, he said that even placing blanket or any clothing on his knee will make severe pain and discomfort, so that what brings him to the clinic, then they gave him strong pain med......
but over 2 months he starts to have swelling, increase temperature, and sweating around it, and skin spots but the left knee was normal.. they did the pinprick test= positive, which is one of the signs. but there are more signs..
The reason of this syndrome they think is that due to injury--->inflammatory chemicals and pain peptides(protiens) released by peripheral nerves----->increase sensetivity to sympathetic nerves---> then abnormal response and sensation to pain.
so they call it complex cuz there is a gap of time between the injury then the appearance of signs and autonomic symptoms.
can any of the homies explain the importance of the juxtglomerular apparatus? is it a point of contact between blood vessels, convuluted distal tubules, and Bowman's capsule, functioning to regulate blood filtrate via a feedback loop?
I don't think bowman's capsule part of it, but i am not sure tho..
yes it is point of contact of blood vessels afferent art(has juxtaglomerular cells) + DCT(has macula densa cells) and of course the main cells mesengial cells...
and yes u are right it helps to regulated bl. pr. and GFR.
like in case of hypotention= there will be decrease delivery of Nacl to macula densa cells and that will stimulate RAAS ,
then RAAS will increases GFR and bl.pr
I have a picture in my book but Im not home now, if u didn't get it, I can send it here to help memorization
This is what I also found in my studies, I'm glad you can confirm that I studied right hahaha , thank you very much for your help, Filiz!
You know, Initially when I watched only few clips of the show House I thought dr. house had CRPS. but after i watched the series, I discovered that his condition was actually different, cuz patients with crps become desperate from the pain even light touch, and some lose control and become addicted to pain meds, even nerve block, ketamine infusions don't help sometimes
do eosinophils cause histamine release resulting in vasodilation and leakiness of capillaries?
or just basophils and mast cells?
it’s going to primarily be basophils and mast cells that release histamine. eosinophils may interact with mast cells to trigger the release of histamine, during something like a parasitic infection. but they don’t actually release it directly
I don't know about eosinophils and basophils, all I know is that the main source of histamine is the mast cells
eosinophils are involved in allergic responses but do not directly cause histamine release
thank u guys
I also watched it...for the sake learning some medical knowledge....but then I ended up having a urge to see the romantic aspect of the series 😂
Wait, does the show actually have a romantic side?
no but... at some point , the female doc started having feelings for house... that one
how do yall memorise sm in short time?
every line has like 3 things i gotta remember minimum
but have super less time
help pls 😭
Depends on how much time you got , if it's very short time and a lot of chapters , sacrifice some of them, ask your classmates what are the important chapters you should focus on, and do spaced repetition, for example try to memorize one paragraph , then move to another one , after finishing it , try to recall the first paragraph by writing it , and the information you didn't recall, rewrite them with another color and yk those should be the one you focus on , this is what helps me when I have very short time left for my exams
okay so this is an entrance exam
so im not in a sch so no classmates 😭
ive about 20 days and 32 chapters
voluntarily did this to urself
gl man
i would suggest u surf the internet for pre made anki or quizlet decks
Then go back to the old entrance exams and see what they focus on
Good day, everyone. I am currently working on a research assignment and I am seeking insights specifically related to Malaysia. If there are any Malaysian individuals here who would be willing to have a brief chat, I would greatly appreciate your time and assistance.
🙏 May I ask, what are the most well-known or commonly used herbal food supplements in your country? Thank you in advance for your time and help!
Does someone here use remnotes?
I find good doctor better, it feels more medically accurate
Also please help me with this question and its explanation
If you want a chart i have made one on how mast cell releases histamine and other allergants
hiiiiiiii
hope everything is going good with you🫂
So the answer is choice 2
I remember this subject from usmle step1
But why
I didnt get this q
Wait this is step 1 q then why they are asking it in my licensing test 😭😭
Yeah i guess i am not sleeping a lot
One day sleep, one day awake
My brain is going brrrrrr
Yes it is even in FA book
How are you filiz senpai
Let me explain the q hahaha
Omg my exam is just a no negative marks exam why they are adding q from usmle 😭
Im doing fine 😢
They hate you so much,, that’s why
How to study 21 hours a day
They do
They asked one q
Which component is most likely to affect the eye
Which is present in the environment
And they gave meckels diverticulum on adult
Wait! So you already done with the exam?
Yeah and i failed by 1 marks
😂😂😂😭😭😭
I am again preparing for it
So thats why i have to study 20 hours for the last 3-4 months i have left
I know it sounds crazy but i got a lot of stuff to cover
I actually passed my other licensing test for graduation so i mean it was not easy to prepare both exams together
Ohhhh no worries please, it’s okay, the problem is that the studying will never end

Yeah can you give me tips
On how to study 20 hours
I mean i know its not good for health but i got no choice
Until 3 months
Omg! I don’t know actually hahah
I swear that i already finished school
😭😭😭
Oh actually i found that answer
Its in first aid 😭😭
Because my licensing exam is to start internship and i was thinking to read first aid during residency exam
U know that I finished med school in my home country and i even started my specialty there, but then I had to do usmle exams in usa so I can get into residency program here😭 so imagine i studied the double
😭😭😭
I’m sorry I am so slow with typing, first I am not home , second I’m already so slow hahah
Its fine no issues maam
Actually i might prepare for usmle or maybe amc
If i crack my country’s exam in first go or maybe one year drop, but i dont i will opt for these options
step one is so stressful but believe me its doable
I studied chinese and passed the very difficult language test, i can speak mandarian but i think its no use lol
Yes my seniors cracked it they just said 6 months of preparation and you can crack it
thats awesome, u can work along studying for usmle as a medical interpreter, u just need to take a certification online
Fun fact my uni suddenly imposed it even though they said that they wont put it to for us during internship
Yup trying to get that once i pass my licensing exam
it depends actually
They are saying that because they already studied 19 subjects
After that they passed the test i am giving
And then they passed step 1
So it was double preperation
They did this 3 months before my licensing test, if we dont pass it we couldnt graduate lol
everything is doable, but as i said step 1 is so hard and stessful
Yeah 😭😭😭😭
noooo dont cry 😭
My prof got low marks in step 1 and then he passed in step 2 but he got rejected from hospitals i think 10-12 years ago
wait, so u don't want me to explain the q , as i understood u found it in FA book
So this is what i fear 😭
Oh i got the q
I will ask you more questions 😭😭 which are crazy
BUT WHY HAHAHAHA
You are my sensei
Doctor Filiz
Also you are experienced
thats in FA book
too
Yeah
First aid is great book
Too bad i got so much less time lol
😭😭😭
yeah but u need memorization
Yeah
Thats why i am going 20 hours daily
One day a sleep cycle of 6 hours and another day whole nighters
This is my plan for next 2 months
Feels like jumping from 5th floor of my dormitory
😂😂😂😂
believe i am also strugling now, i thought that i dont have to study
We have to study till death 😂😂😭😭😭
My mother is senior nurse and she still studies and if i mess up she destroys me 😭😭😭
u crying a lot hahahaha
my mom was a physician but actually she was forcing me to not study a lot hahahah
One thing i have observed , i slept very regularly like 7 hours 3 months ago studied properly, after some time i forgot everything, sleep also is good but if revision is not done its all 0
Oh my mom also says that sometimes but also forces me
So thats why i am planning to go all insane for 3 months because i just cant
revision revision revision is the key
Yup and i did none
I forgot almost everything lol
studying without revision means no studying at all
I gotta redo my syllabus in 20-25 days and revise two subjects together
I thought i will do q banks and it would be good , i was wrong though
like dont focus on ivermectin drug and those things hahahah
Do you recommend studying 2 subjects together if i am going 20 hours
Yeah 😭
so what I was doing
is if i study for example, pulmonary physiology, then i feel myself stuck, then I switch in the night to something easy or watching vedios
but also everyone is different
Oh thats d way
maybe I am stupid
I study like micro for maybe 12 hours then 2 hours q banks, then 6 hours surgery
so dont take everything i say
No no you are right
omg
I got no option i am literally forcing myself
micro is easy to forget, same as pharma
Thats why i am studying pharma daily
Just 1 hour
so if u keep studying them for 12 hours u gonna forget the next day
Yup i know
Rn i am just trying to read it
Because i never studied micro properly
In my med school i just studied virology only rest i studied 3 days before exam
so i thing 6 hours micro then 6 hours something like pathophysio that needs more understanding than memorization
So i have 0 knowledge in that subject
Ok doneee 👍
What about other 8 hours
but keep studying the way that u feel comfortable with
Done
as i said studying without early revision is nothng at all
Wht i am doing is basically picking up one subject that i forgot and in remaining 5-6 hours i am revising random subject eg pediatrics
Thats why i am doomed
So i have to pull 20 hours for 3 months to save myself
no you are not
obviously u are so smart
I mean 😭😭😭
I gotta tryhard
you can do it
3 months of complete butchering of my health lol
if someone else was able to do it
My brother also did the same for 1 year for his google examination
then u can
He studied 20 hours and had 2 kidney stones 12 mm each
You are my inspiration
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH
My sensei
I dk how he did that till this date i find it very very surprising
Wait, look, you study and do ur part, but the rest is depending on other things so dont blame youself
Yeahhh sensei
I am on the job
Whatever is present rn in future i will focus on that
Thank u so much sensei Filiz
maybe there is no future ha
😁
Yeah i can only make goals for the future
I am so stupid dont say sensi 😭
But for the present i got the time rn which i can use
No no you are intelligent
You are a doc sensei
I can call you laoshi also
NOOOO i swear i am not
No no see intelligence = hardwork
You are both
I have none of these but thanks
you too
thia is my cat lulu
Oh nicee i lover cats
I see cats i feed them
OMG
THANK YOU SO MUCH, you just made my day
No problem sensei
I got my cats from the shelter, they were about to authonize lulu( her name was ethel) because she was so sick and they said that they should put her down
😭😭
but I told them, I want to try with her
now I have her for 4 years
she is so healthy and happy cat
Sensei you are a very gentle person
it turned out that she has just allergy from specific type of fish food, i didn't even take her to see a vet
My mother never allowed me to keep cats so i always fed the stray cats , they always used to come to my house daily for 2 years . After i left to china, all of them never came back 😭😭😭
Oooooo
This one
its okay, maybe ur mom afraid or she doesn't want u to get somthing
She actually dosent like animals
But its fine since its her house lol 😂😭
ohhh thats why
hahahahahahahahahhaah
Also my brother was not allowed to keep dog in his own house
So he is so mad that he is working more hard to get promoted to a higher position in google so he can keep a caretaker 24/7 for his own dog
I wish him and you and ur mom the best
Cant fight with my parents now both are suffering from hypothyroidism and hypertension
fight is normal hahaha
Thank you so much sensei you too i hope your family and you both remain in pink of their health
no i mean even if u do
Yeah haha i mean my brothers way of showing anger is getting more successful 😂😂😭😭😭
Yeah its daily fight lol
For small reasons like i skipped eating fruits😂😂😂
Sensei i will go i need to go to my hospital which is 3 hours far away from my location, i wanna cry and die both and smile also
please gooo
i mean
So sorry sensei , i will tease you a lot from now on
Here with my q and my anxiety
oh no worries but to be honest i started to forget a lot of things since i did step 1 and 2 long time ago
cliniical life is different
Dont worry sensei you still sre very very intelligent
completely different that what we have studied
Yushhh😭
I hate u 😭
😂😂😂😂
take care and wish u to pass all the tests
Thank you sensei i hope i see you on top of your department 😎😎
oh god
Hehe
hey i know its medic help channel but it's open to everyone in the server, so i deleted your messages since those pictures might get some people a bit sensitive
i dont think we should be posting any photo that includes blood, rash, or anything like that
Oh yeah my bad really sorry
I agree i am sorry, can i post things without blood and photos like normal q bank
its okay😄
oh yes you can! just be careful with the photos hahah
Yup no photos only just word base questions
Like these
Answer is 3 years , a baby is riding a tricycle which means he/she is more than 12 months , going up the stairs suggest 2year but going up and down is 2years + . Another finding of building 9 block and using pen to glitter = answer 3 years

Cerebellum marrow and prepladder long videos at beggining and rr at last month before exams, u should prepare for neet pg study your books also but 80% focus on preparing for competitive exam even it is far away u should do it, i see people struggling for 10 years in neet pg in my prev server. Do daily 50 mcqs all custom module , mcq is best to learn pharma, preeti maam for path and mucro or first aid book is a beast for both these
what even happened
I got crazy about a paper I could not find, got all my books and papers off the library
Yo guys anyone know someone who Studies medicine in australia (pref. Melbourne) and could help me out with applying for phd there? How can i find out if the Supervisor is cool for example?
It looks like my room when i was done with my second year finals
My room condition rn lol for my graduation exam
Daaaamn I kinda like that
i kinda miss this chaos from when i was a student haha
exams would finish and i remember feeling so free
(that feeling kind of goes away when there's not an exam marking a finish line, so to speak)
❤️❤️
Yeah the hell days over and sleeping for the whole day felt so good 😭😭😭 talking to your parents properly and seeing the sky 😭😭
I miss those years 😭😭 especially first year where we have to identify dissected parts and our teacher scolded us it was so funny lol

Hello, I am a second year medical student and I am struggling a bit with lectures. I find myself taking hours to finish studying a lecture only to find out next day I cannot remember most stuff the next day. How can I avoid that? I mainly study by annotating and asking myself while reading the slides. I tried anki, but making cards take a long time and when reviewing, my card speed is about 3 cards per minute. I would welcome any advice on how to speed up things a little bit.
it's hypocritical for me to say because i do the same and suffer the same, but cram studying something one time isn't going to keep most of that in your memory the next day
making flash cards is actually a method of studying on it's own, it's basically the same thing as making notes 🙂 but spaced repetition is the whole point of flash cards, reviewing it at longer intervals over the course of a week or month to force your brain to realize "i'm seeing this often, i should remember it" - eventually, the topics you've seen multiple times will come back faster, you'll be doing cards at a faster rate, and you can make the judgement to rate the terms you know as "easy" so that you see them less which gives you more room to do newer cards
if it takes too long to do, ask your classmates if they made any flash cards, look on google, or use AI the way it's intended to be used: make a list of terms and definitions, and ask chatgpt to turn them into an anki deck
keep in mind that in order for spaced repetition to work, you cannot leave studying to the last minute like i just did... my finals in three days
spaced repetition works better the longer you do it for
remember, it seems you just started using these flash cards, you can't expect speed when you haven't developed the momentum yet
I am afraid it is too late 🥲, My finals begin in like 2 weeks (which sounds like a lot compared to 3 days) but the amount of material I still have to go through is insane. Hopefully I will be able to finish.
Yeah, I will try to stick with flashcards and build some momentum with them. They are better than just writing notes, only to rarely look at them.
Thanks for the advice and best of luck for your finals, you got this!
knowing some things is better than knowing nothing - you don't only have 2 weeks, you have 2 entire weeks!
choose what appears to be the most important terms based on how you remember their frequency in being brought up in your lecture and homework, and prioritize those in your flash cards instead of every term
flash cards unfortunately don't work for what i'm learning, i need to do entire cases
but one of my friends has only just started his semester and has to memorize two hundred terms by the end of his class, and that's what i would recommend him too
This is really helpful, because when making my flashcards, I tend to try to cover every sentence in the material. I go through everything thoroughly and it takes away a lot of the time that I could be spending on stuff that are actually important, but I get this impulse of "leave no man behind" and try to cover every little thing.
is anyone here studying to be a paramedic?
same - and it oftentimes is hard to sort out what is important and what is not, and when you don't know, you tend to just go for everything... I have a hard time with it too, but I know that being able to prioritize what's important is an extremely valuable time-saving skill that people need to develop at some point

Hello! I m a first year medical student. I have recently started reviewing my anatomy n physiology books but I barely have covered any topics. I somehow passed my exams but I genuinely want to study these subjects during my break. I realized that mindmaps are a better way to remember for me. But I m finding it hard to group the topics n overall making a mindmap.
??? you pass your exams and you want to continue studynig ? In my place i would enjoy holidays
Idk how to do that either 🥲
yo i might need some help from the medics or anyone whom knows something about the heart
i have been noticing that during hot weather, my heart tends to feel heavy in my chest? like today i was sitting outside and it happened, when i get up, i feel dizzy and feel like i am about to fall. The day before i was working in the garden, again during high temps (here its about 25 degrees) and i got a very painfull ache towards my chest. Like some sort of stab-feeling? in combination with the heaviness feeling.
any help is welcome!
in my youth years, the school doctor noticed an irregular beat in my heart. i did not get followed through since he thought it got to do with "growing up". there also was a sheer rustle at that time.
oh and an insane weight loss. 5kg in 2 weeks, when im just sitting in my room studying.
go to gym, find gf or go in montains
Thanks for the ideas 💙
how did you pass the exams so soon?
I didn't pass them 'soon'. But I had studied the topics most frequently asked in the exam. I wanted to review my books thoroughly one last time.
oh it was test format ? not verbal exam
where the pain progres. Does it go in chin or arms or armpit lef or rigth ?
Yeah verbal too. They were asking some common questions.
Spread over the whole chest
you should check your doctor for EKG, rapid movements when you get up is normal, but the stabing pain can be dangerous mainly when you are hydrated.
for anatomy is best when you draw and imagine the structeres. Physiology too draw as possible and feymann technique. MInd maps i find too time consuming. and you need lots of practise soo
I indeed drew some diagrams for anatomy. Feynmann technique I should search. Yeah mind map are indeed taking a lot of time. That's why I typed here to find if someone does it too for understanding their process to do it.
yeah i tried it but did not work. check the youtube you will find this dude he is doctor he know everything about mind maps
what I found most efective is when i ask my self what is macropahge for example , but it can be harder word like epistaxis .... and find picture of it or draw it
Does someone have any advice for remembering the types of functional fibers(GVE,GVA, PVE, etc.) each branch of each cranial nerve has, like some mnemotechnics or whatnot?
what's your q? but to be honest i'm a baby student (year 2) so i don't know but if i can try to help T°T?
(good luck i hope you'll find someone more able to me T°T)
I did not study pharmacology the whole year and now that i have 2 months for exams .. i am regretting everything 😭
Hello everyone! I am having a difficult time choosing between dentistry and pharmaceuticals studies. Can someone help me? Your knowledge, thoughts and experience on either fields can be very helpful!
you are not alone, I was lazy studying patology thougth semester now it so fc hard to study it all. But we will do it. All we can do is doing aur best more we can not do
yo if you want be more indepedepnt you should definitly go to dentristy easy exams more time to study, 5 years,
Oh that’s a great advantage that dentistry has. However does it have better job opportunities?
i study medicine but i have friend who are dentist, It really depent where you will live, but once you have your own ambulance with patients you are golden. before that is not that hard to ge job i think
plus you can specialize in variety fields
Oh I see. Thank you so much for the info!
hello ! i'm also in med but i have a lot of friends in pharma or dentist, but i think it also depends on you geographical zone. In my country, you're as independent as a dentist as a pharm, but more responsability as a dentist (for more or less the same study time), dentist can also be more lucrative if it's what you're looking for! But i think the best is that you go ask some student from the schools you can go and contact some real dentist/pharm! In France for instance we have a good "alumni" system where you can contact student easily, and for the pro, at least in pharma, i'm sure they'll be very happy to tell you if you go to the drugstore in a no rush time ehhe
but thought decision, good luck, but i'm sure you'll find hapiness anyways eheh
I see! This was very helpful! I will do what you suggested! Thank you so much !
Have a good day!
Should be 5 imo… corresponding A, T, G, C and U, considering both DNA and RNA (T in DNA, U in case of RNA)
Yep but answer key says 8
that’s why idk
Oh lmao, i get it now, they said “by considering the three parts of a nucleotide” ….that means they want us to consider the sugar component too haha… so deoxyribose and ribose..that’s why the ans is 8
Ohhhhhhh so it’s Adenine, guanine, thymine or uracil, cytosine, deoxyribose, ribose and the phosphate group.?
Yeah like
The nucleotides in DNA would look like: A/T/G/C-Deoxyribose-PO4
in RNA: A/U/G/C-Ribose-PO4
so 8 DIFFERENT nucleotides
Dermatology teachers are the absolute worst they never know what they’re talking about
There is great mind maps that have already been made and available it possibly won’t cover your entire subject but gives you a general understanding that laser focusing on your curriculum won’t give you
I checked those out but they were really confusing.
Can you share some with me pls?
I wanna check some out
I prefer making my own
i don't have any but a quick google search and you'll find a lot or youtube videos where they summarize the entire subject is also an option
Hey everyone, I'm a senior in dental school and planning to pursue my specialty in Germany. Do you know anyone who is in dental school there or planning to go? cause i have some questions :)
How to get them
Hii guys! So I'm a graduated physician from Brazil currently pursueing to enter the Anesthesiology residency. So if anyone needs help with med school or just want to talk about clinical stuff, my DMs are open 🙂
"A(n) decrease in the glomerular filtraton rate of the kidneys results in a(n) increase in the selective reabsorption of different compounds."
can someone clarify/verify the following? ^ I previously assumed that there is a linear relationship between such absorption and GFR, but no?
or is it just that a sheer reduction in the time of contents undergoing glomerular filtration results in an increased duration of time being exposed to vasa recta capillaries?
thx in advance
I would disagree. Low GFR means kidneys don’t filter as well/kidney function is low. Selective réabsorption would insinuate a beneficial thing but low GFR is a bad thing
Idk if what I’m saying makes sense
this is my approximate reasoning... so i agree.
update: here is a snippet from a textbook
so yea, inc. GFR = inc. re-absorption. the statement i mentioned in my op was from a pre-made anki deck
Anyone is studying ophthalmology?
Me
But at an undergraduate level tho
could any of you please help with the diagnosis of this hematology Q please? it's so unspecific, most people i know are stumped and cant reach a conclusion!
lol sorry late reply but if i were you I'd go through the anking deck!! best way to review and consolidate year 1 and year 2 subjects 🙂
Thanks for the reply. I will check it out this year.
Hi everyone, I'm a physio student and I am having trouble understanding the key differences between a radiculopathy vs radicular pain?
Radicular pain is a symptom,
While radiculopathy is a condition in which the nerve root dysfunctions
The suffixe "pathy" in medecine means disease
Oh that makes way more sense when you put it like that, thank you!
@quick coral you're welcome ! Good luck
If anyone is a dermatologist please hit me up i need some help with some derma terms

hii, can anyone explain to me how the process of the kidney works? how does the kidney process hormones? (sorry if sound a bit strange, english is not my first language jajaja)

you mean blood pressure ?
or filration ? cuz kidney have lots of functions. generaly the specific type cell have receptors which secrete hormones when stimulates
Ahhh okok but, how do they secrete the hormones???
a very common example concerns the juxtaglomerular cells.. when the afferent arteriole experiences constriction (low bp), resulting in a decreased perfusion rate, the juxtaglomerular cells cleave prorenin to renin (the active form) to increase bp via the RAAS. renin, the "initiator" of this cascade, eventually gives rise to angiotensin II and aldosterone that exert their different, but related, effects on the kidney, and at different locations.
i'm sorta kinda (really) making assumptions that u are familiar with how the kidneys work, so forgive me if not
likewise, I understand that English isn't your first language, thus making it challenging for you to ask a precise, unambiguous question
ohhh thak youu, now it makes more sense to me hahaha
yea np.. for more precise "mechanisms," I suggest u peruse the literature or pickup a medical-grade physiology textbook like Costanzo, though the former is advised!
can someone explain how bicarbonate levels fluctuate in response to DKA and why
i assume its concentration decreases--excreted in the kidneys, as H+ rises? and a given physician would administer bicarb to drive the production of CO2, resulting in an increased respiratory rate?
but what about if the patient is under cardiac arrest
hi guys I'm a pharmacy student in my last year (bachelor) and curretnly writing my thesis. it's about antibiotic resistance in cancer patients AND THE STRUGGLE IS REAL. i have about 20 pages rn but i have no idea how to continue. my biggest issue is the structuring of chapters. i feel like nothing makes sense anymore and I'm really stuck and have writers block or something 💀 I'd be happy if someone can give me feedback or help a little with the structuring. i just need to get into the flow again 😭 THANKS
Send it over I needed some bedtime reading anyway
Cardiac arrest will result into cardiac version aka change in anatomical structure of heart, we might see oedema also , we have to reduce the pressure on kidneys so we use drugs that block certain hormonal release like Aliskiren and many others. Also for understanding the conc part you gotta go deep in metabolic chapter, where metabolic acidosis respiratory acidosis anion gap etc are taught because it will solve not only dka concept for you but other concepts for other diseases like vomiting metabolic and all

Would anyone have a good pharmacology textbook recommendation? Something that explains mechanisms of action simply
Quick question what foods can i eat if i have extremely high cholesterol?
hi! please be careful when asking for advice online and always refer to professionals for advice related to health
Vegetables mostly, avoid too much meat, cheese, and alcohol
Prefer eating fish
it depends on your dietary needs
I reckon learn & understand the mechanism of action and then just do active recall so you don't forget it
Most of the time, lot of fish instead of meat for omega 3 is enough to reduce cholesterol
And vegetables to prevent eating to much fat
This is already enough for the big majority of people
Sedentary or sportive ones
Which type of pathology xD
I study about cell pathology from the beginning
Like what is inflammation and what his type and so on…
@grave tusk
Hmmm I see
Usually, starting to learn these things by using the mode learning of chatgpt sounds to be a good idea 🙂
I used some prompts in ChatGPT and I saw some videos about pathology and it seems to me hard
Like if you tell me to choose Neuroanatomy or pathology. I would choose neuroanatomy
So I asked you guys if there any tips
hi i am looking for a free sources to get medical books pdf
does anyone have access to Sage Journals?
you can try medflix 2.0 on telegram
yes, I can send it through
Just take into account piracy laws of your country
Also libgen is one of the best sources for books
I reckon try getting it from ur uni website
cause they usually have an online copy
Allright thank you so much 🫡
i dont think this is about med
Hi everybody! I'm medical student from Kazakhstan. Can anyone explain what do you study in pathology? In our system we study pathological anatomy and pathophysiology separately. And another question, what does a pathology doctor do? Thanks for the answers
Hi! Are there any doctors from Germany here? I have some questions. Thanks
Or medical students
i studied all my life by writing lessons at school then reading it again at home .... now when i went to the medschool i found my self rewriting all my pdf lecturers then reading it from my notebook because it better for me to memorise the things with my hand writing and i also started passing the exams and not failing at it .......... is this how my brain work or am just not used to studying using by printer or pc screen
am asking this because writing takes sooooo much time
i'd say the belief that "this is how my brain works" restricts u to that frame of kind, therefore preventing you from expanding to other learning modalities
but if it isn't broken, and u manage to acquire all the required information, why fix it?
i can just only imagine how long it takes u to write everything out, though
Yes our teachers always gives us workbook whee only 10% info is added like images so we dont waste time making diagrams and have spatial memory, try using ipad with your pdfs, or some other tablet drag the images to your notes area and you will have much better spatial and recall memory.
Use ai to make questions for yourself on your competitive exam pattern . It helped me massively in med school especially during scheduled test in our internship. Trust me brother start doing it because lots of things are inage based and you need to see the image with the notes .
Even laptop is also fine. A small mini printer is best for physical notes if you dont like tech, i bought one in china and it worked wonderfully and is dirt cheap and is smaller than my hands, so its portable for you in library also.
If you don’t like that also try using textbooks, let say u study congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis, you need to see xray photo, you cant make one, go to your book see where the page is and mark it and in your notes (page no) this is tidious process.
I will still prefer the mini printer as stickers also come with it you can stick the diagrams on your notes . No ink is required and u can put a tape on your stickers so it doesn’t vanish with time
Hey, i'm looking forward to talk to you, since you're in Xiamen,
Do send me a friend request,
cheers mate

can cold water and sore throat go together?

Hey everyone, I'm not a med student but I'm writing something for school about neural plasticity. I had a question about gray and white matter. Basically so far my understanding is that the majority of gray matter is neurons, and the white matter is the synapses aka the connections with the myelin layer and stuff. I don't quite understand: is the white matter 100% synapses and gray matter 100% neurons or do both have neurons AND synapses in them? Thanks in advance for the help (image is of a brain)
Cause idk if the white matter where all snypases it just seems hella long going from the shell of the brain to the center
Hey Angry
!! Wishing you the best in your school🫂
Regarding to neurons, so first, one neuron has 3 parts
1- cell body 2- dendrite 3-axon...
it is like head with hair (cellbody and dendrites) and tail (axon)..
The cell body with the denderites of the neuron is located in the gray matter of the brain, not the whole neuron. And the axon part located in the white matter of the brain.
The synapses mostly happen in the gray matter because, denderites synapses with another denderites of other neuron there.. then the information will travel from denderites to cell body of neuron to the axon( in white matter) then to its destination, so axons in white matter is just travelling or taking the info rapidly from and to the brain, rarely synapses occure in white matter... Also axons can be so long to reach to the foot for example, like it's 1-1.5 meter.
I drew something that might help
so I drew this bug and a foot about to step on it to show how the brain makes the body move by only 2 neurons, one neuron from the eye and other from the brain..First the eye (sensor) sees the bug then sends info to the brain. In the brain’s gray matter, you have the neuron cell bodies with their dendrites (like little hairs). That’s where synapses happen then denderite will take the info to cell body.
Once the decision to step on the bug is made, the signal travels down the long axon (the white matter) then into the peripheral nerves and finally to the muscle fibers of the foot. That’s why the foot moves.
but i didn't draw the neuron from the eye tho

I have to qualify licensing test here but i am seeing australia or america lets seee
Hahahah nice it is actually imp to do so
My teacher also taught the same way filiz maam explained
Oh but why to qualify the license? You’re not in your home country?
USA is actually really good!! I have a positive experience here. I don’t really get why some ppl say bad things about it, but it is really good
You mean your teacher explained it or you say explain? hahaha sorry I am dumb☹️ but anyway good luck ❤️
I have to qualify my home country one first, i am in my country rn, china suffering is over thank god . I dont even want to study there anymore and nor recommend anyone to study there. I went there to study medicine but it felt like i was studying language course which wont be helpful to me ever in my whole life. We were promised for english course, we got it, but then they forced us to pass such a difficult language test (even internship was forced) that would make us speak and write fluent chinese that too during mid internship, suddenly in one day bypassing their own law. I sweat so much to pass that test, but failed my licensing exam with 3 marks because of no time to study. Also 15-20 peeps in my university cant get their degree even after passing home country test why? Because they cant pass language test of china. Its harder than anatomy. The amount of rules they change overnight is insane . Luckily i escaped 😭😭 and got my degree also @proud sable maam🥹🥹🥹
Maybe due to recent things going on thats why but judging the whole country on such things is not cool and we are doctors so these political things don’t matter to us and shouldnt matter to us, also the salary of doctors in usa is the best in the whole world. The work culture and ethics are also the best. Even certain hospital provide free 250 dollar card every month which can be used to eat food, free macbook and research material 😭😭🥹🥹🥹 so i dk why people complain
Both 🤣🤣🤣 he explained and then asked us to explain it in osce kind of examination 🤣🤣🤣 thank you maam you tooo ❤️ its so nice to talk to you after such long time 🥹
Also maam if you see from my profile you can figure it out i am ready now 🤣
I’m really glad you got your degree after everything you went through there. YOU DESERVE IT💪
Oh I was talking from a different perspective tho, not about salary or financial stuff haha
HAHAHAHAH fake it until you make it
Thank u ma’am 🥹🥹
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I understood now
😂😂😂 yeah 😎😎 luckily there is no restriction on j1 visa so I can still enter 😎
yea people here in the US simply don't realize how good their lives are in comparison to other countries, which ur comments only justify this statement...
Yes , atleast in usa doctors have to follow strict ethics They wont scold u in front of everyone and in my country as well as china, you get scolded hard and treat like slaves until your residency. In china one resident came 5 sec late , she was openly scolded by the director so badly in front of everyone. She was walking behind the group of her colleagues and she was about to cry and then she has to work 70-90 hours a week, get scolded to get paid like peanuts. Oh yes also the patients are over emotional here so they can beat you , so u gotta be master of conversation here .
wow.. yea I'm definitely interested in your experience
I have no idea how med is in other countries
Its fairly more strict here i mean people here think they are better than u especially in asia where they think they are the best so your seniors will bully you , till this date i have 2 seniors close to me rest nobody deserves my attention for being a tryhard bully 。Mess with the professor and gg he/she will never pass you so you have to face bullying from them and become their slave, but they also have insane amount of knowledge. Its same in china also where i saw two doctors fighting openly. But there is one thing that chinese and indian docs have lots of clinical skill due to heavy load of patients . They have very vast knowledge . The knowledge bullying thing is so much here that you also become a knowledge bully like your seniors and bully your juniors
Everyone is jealous of you if you perform really good i dk why people cant focus on their own lives. The pay is good i dont say its low its actually good , the medical entrance exam is very hard here to enter med school as well as residency but i feel usmle is the hardest because in asia cramming heavy amount of material matters whereas in usmle concepts matter. Also in 90% asian countries doctors dont know how to speak english . There were like 3% chinese doctor who actually spoke good english , 2% belonged from private hospital , so as a foreign student its hard to study under such doctors
Also especially china where the language is harder than medicine and i believe doctors should know english at all cost, this is what i believe
Oh one more thing @reef yacht the medical scam, you cant do anything about it. So my friend had small navicular fracture in china, first we were asked to pay lots of money for appointment which is bs , doctor asked him to pay 10000 yuan aka 1404 us dollars and wanted my friend to stay in hospital for 10 days, just for navicular bone fracture? If it was not a medical student he/she would get scammed. Luckily my friend went to his professor and the professor recognized us and he just added small cast worth 300 yuan aka 41 usd and my friend recovered in 3 months easily. Now same with another lady whose baby was declared dead and money was extracted ,later she found out her baby was not dead. I broke my hand one time, our uni forced us to buy insuarance every semester but i was never paid anything nor my friends who had bigger injury, even my friend here who had navicular bone fracture no refunds. Oh also patients are too emotional here so they beat doctors mostly surgeons , saw a patient grabbing collar of senior surgeon in china, Its the same in korea , japan mainly , russia and many other asian countries. This is problem with healthcare here. 🥲 thats why many docs you will see in america are immigrants mostly from asian countries because their skill is much respected in america .
Does anyone have that usmle V12 anki desk
thank you for the insight, bro. I know this may be entirely anecdotal, but it has definitely left a lasting impression on me and will likely influence my future interactions and thought processes
No problem brother 😄
Go to medicalstudyzone.com and u will find it
Mostly not the latest but older version
hello!
I have no clue if this is the respective channel to pose this question, but here I go:
I have to write a paper where a certain philosophical stance/theory is being linked/compared to a respective scientific point of view regarding the topic of the paper.
I have chosen for time, and more precisely: time-consciousness.
As of philosophical frame-work I intend to use Husserls' account of time-consciousness.
As of the scientific frame-work I was thinking about making use of the current debat in neurological frameworks regarding how people perceive time, but also objects.
Now my question is if anyone has/had a course about neuropsychology/neurology where this topic was being discussed or if someone has the knowledge of this topic from a scientific point of view.
Any type of help is welcome!
[What I have found is neurophenomenology from Francisco Varela, which is quite outdated, therefore my question.]
Yeah thanks got it
Should I take creatine when I'm old? Like 40 plus. And how much l theanine should I consume if I don't use it at all?
Please refrain from seeking medical advice online! Its always best to consult your local healthcare provider
We cant say it we dont have your reports , we dont know about your genetics neither max people here are md docs , max peep in this chat are students so the advice can be wrong. Also creatinine depends on your kidney function test aka kft . Its better you visit a doctor or consult a doctor on authentic medical apps for less cost .
I had neurology but i never wrote a paper on neurology, although i am doing my research in psychiatry

Hey everyone! 👋
I’m originally from South Asia and living in the U.S. right now. I finally managed to save up about $16k to start an LPN program — classes are Monday through Thursday from 4–10 pm, and 2 of those days include lab. On top of that, I’ll be working 40 hours every weekend (Friday–Sunday), so I’m trying to figure out how to balance everything without burning out.
For those who’ve been through nursing school or similar programs:
• How did you manage studying while working full-time weekends?
• Any tips for memorizing fundamentals like A&P, skills, meds, etc.?
• What helped you stay organized and not fall behind?
• Any tricks, apps, or routines that really helped you succeed?
I’m motivated and ready to grind — just hoping to learn from your experiences to set myself up the right way to help others and growing myself at the same time. Thanks in advance for any advice you can share! 🙏💪
Halo guys
anki for a&p
in the US
LPN programs aren't too bad
start studying early
so go to class prepared
Thank you
Brother add me i wanna tell you something

Thank uuu
Hey doctors, what's the best reference to master EKG interpretation ? and best books for cardiology ?
For me, mainly just practising interpreting EKG based on theoretical study. So, after studying I used to do practice ECG's while I always had a normal reference EKG besides me. This really taught me to find the suble differences and to differentiatie between normal - abnormal even if subtle.
Sometimes, just googling helped. Often, I used en.ecgpedia.org (originally in Dutch, but it's also translated) and videos.
Important for EKG's is to have a steady sequence in your interpretation, e.g. rythm and regularity -> bpm -> heart axis -> intervals (PR, ST, QRS, QT, R) -> segments -> wave progressions ....
We got the practice ECG's from the professor, not sure what sources could provide practise questions though... Someone else would maybe know that.
hope this helps!
py dev ?
you can see dr deepak marwah , he has some free videos on youtube, its really good
you want book i can send you one book with really crisp and concize info about ekg
Hello everyone, I have a question about failure in medical school. For those who have failed, how did you deal with it, and how did you use that failure to achieve success? thanks
https://litfl.com/ecg-library/
For practice ques
if you sleep 7 to 8 hours then that is pretty natural, and you should never try to sleep less because it will hurt your focus. however if you sleep more like 10 hours or so then that maybe a 1 time thing or it maybe a more serious issue
a general rule of tumb that i always use is to ALWAYS wake up at the same time. even better sleep at the same time. because that sets your circadian rythem, and try to get sun light in the morning as soon as you wake up (get sun on your eyes but dont stare lol) because that basically signals to your brain that it is wake up time so your monkey brain stops releasing melatonin and the cortisol levels rise. and it helps locking in your circadian rhythem. it also raises the dopamine baseline for the day
this works best within the first 30-60 minutess after waking up, and if there is no sun outside its still really benifetial, even on a cloudy day. because it signals to your brain that its wake up time
hey , How do yall go about anki in the 2 weeks leading up to exams ( changing settings , ... ) ,

hello! psychology major here. in psychological terms, the term variable means anything that can change and that change can be observed. theres usually 2 kinds of variables used in the experimental method but thats a different topic altogether.
the sentence you shared talks about what makes the experimental method in psychology different from other methods, which is the fact that the experimenter can control the variable.
in terms of the sentence structure, the subject in the sentence is 'the ability to exercise precise control over a variable', verb is 'distinguishes' and object is 'the experimental method'. sometimes in sentences there isnt just one subject word but rather a phrase (group of words) that become the subject. i hope that makes sense!
also, feel free to dm or ping me if you need help with anything psychology related :) id be happy to help
does anyone know how to differentiate chicken's duodenum, jejunum, ileum. colon and cecum through histology? is it possible?
Not sure how chickens work, but here's an overview for small intestine differention in humans:
thank you. its kinda like pig's intestine.
and i just found out that chicken's intestine can't be differentiated by histology

salamu alaikum, idk if you got an answer but failure in medical school doesnt mean failure in life. if you still want to study medicine and become a doctor, (im sure you know this) you can still try in another country if you can finance it.
i fought so hard to get into med school .i thought this was my purpose in life and i would rather die than not get into med school. while it is something special, i learned with time that it doesnt define me and certainly is not something i would want to do all the time because i have so many other interests. so if i would fail, i would cry and probably have to deal with disappointed family but in the end i would start something else. i think the mental pressure is the worst part of it because we think if we dont live according to the standard of hussle mentality, we are not good enough and give ourselves the "failure" stamp. but i mean, as long as you live, you have the chance to do anything really. it needs time and patience and money and definitely confidence.
hi, is there anyone who has studied outside and knows what to do to get accepted as a resident in autralia/ new zealand? how long does it take aporximately and what are the costs?🇳🇿
can someone please briefly explain why LH is low following fertilization if it is responsible for stimulating the corpus luteum, which gives rise to progesterone
like i understand that hcg eventually takes over
but progesterone remaining super high despite baseline LH kinda conflicts w my understanding.. there has to be something wrong w my knowledge lmfao
ah wait, is it the residual effects of LH that maintain the corpus luteum, but these levels dec. in expectation that fertizliation occurs, which hcg will then compensate for the absent LH?
high progesterone causes negative feedback loop in pituitary, LH goes bye bye
da embryo produces hcg which is an lh analog, that maintains luteum instead of LH
I didn't stop trying and I gave myself no other issue. Dont take the next best thing. As long as you entering med school is "technically possible", then it's possible, keep trying. In many years, you wont even think of the failures as such, but as steps you had to go through to succeed
yes, but LH is responsible for giving rise to progesterone initally, right?
but ty for a reply
Initially
Hello, can I ask questions and recommendations about health here?
you can, but i highly suggest you seek professional medical care for real life cases
