any NEET-UG 2022 aspirant here?
i'll be tested on the krebs cycle + proteinogenic amino acids tmrw for biochem, but i've been procrastinating.. any tips for useful resources to memorize fast?
you definitely have to test music videos on YouTube and stuff, like especially for the Krebs cycle you can found so much music about it, and it's helpful for both understand and learn xD
and for biochem uhm I don't know what's proteinogenic means but if it's about learning the AA personally I made out story out of the schemes of the molecule, and so it helps me learn + it's funny (it's already late sourri but gud luck! even if I'm sure you don't need it eheh)
thank you soooo much!! this is very helpful
Wow love it ty u helped me too
Oh y'all are medical students too?

check if your university has an account in the site the paper was published, most universities have them so you can legally read them. Otherwise, copy and paste the link in scihub

hi hi! is there some kind of waiver or paper that a patient may sign (as an option) if they want to have the transfusion to preserve their health, given that they aren't allowed to have blood or blood product transfusions because of their religion?
advance directive (legal document that explains how i want my medical decision to be made/not made if im unable to do so)
but if im conscious and could make my own decisions, a verbal consent should do
thanks!
are you familiar with the medical liability waiver?
a document used to gain the patients consent?
not too sure as i dont know much medical stuff, just like to do research from time to time so correct me if im wrong!
oh yea, i was thinking if it would be advisable to have that waiver signed instead of having the verbal consent only
thanks a lot : )
A verbal consent is where a patient states their consent to a procedure verbally but does not sign any written form
i think both can serve to deny treatment by patients but the medical liability waiver protects the doctors or nurses in question
no problem!
Hey guys, if any of you is a 2022 neet aspirant please let me know. We have a gc where we can help each other regarding the same. Can't wait to see you, cheers!

A 51-year-old patient showed up at the emergency with epigastric abdominal pain. He vomitted some fluid that look like gallbladder fluid. Physical examination showed tachycardia and a fever, blood pressure at 170/90mmHg. He was sweating and felt better when he lied down. I think he have acute cholecystitis, but I can't tell that cholecystitis sign on the x-ray.
alright good now all we need now is a radiologist

I gotta write an essay for bio medical waste management and some practical solutions for it...... I need some practical ways and solutions
b?
why?
I think it's meningitis. So ı will choose A.
I also agree with A, meningitis
It could be meningitis. You must put empirical antibiotics. Before proceeding with the lumbar puncture, the absence of intracranial hypertension (physical examination or CT) must be ensured.
Which is tougher, medical school or prison?
hey is it good to take modafinil for study?
I have a bump on the side of my foot. It hurts whenever I accidentally hit on something or when I press it. Is this something serious ?
Go see a doctor

Exaclty on the lower side of my foot . Near the sole
Your neighbor has a 15-month toddler, Joshua, who is described as “very active”. Tonight, a few minutes ago he fell and hit his “front teeth”. Mom runs over to you as there appears to be much bleeding. As you take a look at your screaming neighbour you note that the bleeding has stopped.
-
What advice can you offer to mom for her child at this time?
this exact thing happened to me when I was about 4 years old. I was watching a movie with my baby bro in my lap and he swung his big head at me and clunked my front teeth. I would tell the mom to console her child but stay calm so the child wont freak out. they pick up on things like that. since its nightime and the bleeding stopped I would wait till the morning to take the child to the dentist to take a look just in case. However if the child seems to be in a lot of pain that doesnt subside, I would take the child to the hospital or a 24 hr dental clinic. in my case my mom took me to the dentist and hadd to get my front 2 teeth readjusted
Notability…been using it for 3 years
yeah i agree, i realise that often times some children don't even register the pain until they see the worried faces around. I was also wondering if there is any sort of way to like preserve the tooth and reattach?
probably im too late but its a pneumoperitoneum! U can see air below the diaphragms
be careful next time 😉
I've been having this issue with retaining what I learn and I end up wasting time relearning. I have heard about spaced repetition and active recall recently and while I found it better than how I've been studying, when it comes to huge topics that I have to revise on it gets tricky. How does one approach information to remember it better?
Especially when it comes to remembering basic structures and course work of blood vessels? Nerve pathways and branches
hey there hope you're doing fine ? I'm looking for any doc about foetal macrosomia if anyone can help i'd be thankful ❤️

Uhh guys, how does blood loss affect the oxyhemoglobin curve ? (edit: oxyhemoglobin dissociation curve, sorry my bad)
Good afternoon everyone. im currently applying for medical school but want to study abroad in the U.K(immigrate). i have so much questions that im confused about. if anyone can assist me into answering them(privately) , it would be help me so much. Id appreciate it dearly.
<@&717391911132069929>
Hmm here’s what I think. So when there is blood loss, there is decrease O2 carrying capacity so this causes hypoxia in the patient and 2,3- bisphosphoglycerate or diphosphoglycertae increases in hypoxia. And this shift the ODC to the right so that there is less affinity of Hb towards O2 and more O2 can be released to overcome the hypoxia.

When amino acid are synthesised?
Your question is not clear
I mean they are synthesised (when we need them)
There is some essential amino acids which our bodies can't make
So we take them from food
And there is non-essential amino acids which our body can make on its own
You're right 🤣
The problem was there: if the body use amino-acids for proteins, and when proteins are degraded amino-acids go back to their form, why we need to synthesise them instead of using always the same?
The answer is that amino-acids are used for derived compounds too, that don't preserve amino-acids original structure (so they're not "reusable") I guess.
Thank you anyway, sorry for the dumb question
No problem buddy
Any doc in here?
Me
Every night i take 2mg of Noctamid + 10mg of Valium + 1mg of Xanax + 250mg of Depakote... But for a week now I cant find sleep. Is it possible for me to push one of these a bit without taking too much risks? Cause these insomnia doesnt fit at all with the revision i am suppose to do for my finals soon. I search for a short term solution my doc comes back 12 of january and my psychatrist the 8.
Another question, I'm under piracetem medication, 800mg 3times a day i take them for weeks now but doesnt feel much changes while my doc told me that it was supposed to help me since im still not recognized adhd officially. Is there anything to do to help that? I heard about egg yolk things etc... But need more accurate opinion lile the previous question it mich more about curiosity and explanations about the reduction or absence of effect
Welp
It is not possible to answer without knowing your medical history. Any change in medication should be made by your doctor.
Hi!
anyone here able to talk ASAP? :'))
not a med stud but I'm currently working on my final project (cancer hosp).. and there's just some questions google can't seem to answer
hi first year medical student here just some advices and tips to stop procastinating and in general to revise the lessons
Oh! actually I'm a bit unsure about intensive care units zoning 😅
In a smaller hospital, can the normal ICU and PICU be combined?or are there any other restrictions and specifications that makes it hard to do so?
It basically depends on the system and i have never sen these two combined as one unit evan smaller hospitals have PICU and ICU seperate
separate
Guys is anyone here doing study groups / discussions / resource sharing for step 1 prep? Or even just for camaraderie ;-;
Hey I have a problem in understanding some medical term can any one helps me ? 😭

im considering completing a "computer engineering and communications" degree as premed but most people are telling me it's impossible and that it will be too hard.
Do any of you have advice for this? or could share their opinion? im really lost here
Any one study in dental medicine/médecine in algeria/morroco/tunisia..etc
what books are suitable for ICHO? - noobs
hey im a first year student in dental med
in egypt
It's possible, but it depends how much you procrastinate and how much you care of grades.
And.. where do you live? Can you legally do that?
i live in lebanon and legally i can do that but yeah getting good grades will be difficult
i honestly think its better to focus first on your premed
i have some lebanese friends and they told me med school in leb is really difficult
welll its technically difficult everywhere but u get my point its just hard to balance both, however if u reallyy want to
then i think u should at least wait till year 4/3
i really want to 😅
its difficult to judge right now from like the first year
year 4/3 of premed?
isnt it years total in lebanon?
but i have to take additional courses from the first year
6 years *
noo i mean it depends but usually its 7
ah yes with specialization
withiut specialisation
omg
with specialization it can go up to 12 years i think
ok if u have to pick from first year then go ahead it seems like you really want to!
if u have the chance to postpone it then i advice you to do so
ill try not to take many additional courses in the first semester at least
thanks for the advice!
yes it will give u more time to figure out how much time you have left for it including all the med work
anytime!
no im egyptian
ohhh okayy
but i have a lot of lebanese friends
nice to meet youu

Anyone studying physiotherapy?
For people using Anki: do you repeat the whole deck before exam?
Can some1 explain misogynistic signal transduction to me , I searched google but nothing is going inside my stupid brain , pl tag/ping me if. U answer
It’s mitogenic !! Damn auto correct !
Twice at least
Ok, thank you!
So probably I'm not crazy
should we take modafinil or modalert to increase concenteration?
Middle ig
thank you
does anyone here use anki lol i just started using it and i'm so lost ;-; how do i get to study the deck again?
Well you finished the deck for today so you have to wait tomorrow ^^
But make sure to change Deck / Cards settings according to what you are studying, you can find guides out there
i just went on with the "forget" option, would that be fine too? or it would like affect something
The anki algorithm is made so you don't have to do anything except reviewing your cads. Also I don't advise clicking the "Easy" or "Hard" buttons as it make it confusing for it to work like it is intended to
I have more viruses in my head than in my whole body.
can anyone specializing in cardiology let me know what would happen to the heart beat, if the vagus nerve were to be cut? and why?
Did you use Google yet
I did! I'm finding different answers, I needed a credible source
if we want to rotate our eye, does the motor nerves only act? or does the sensory nerves have a part to play?
motor nerves only
Can somebody tell me a good vedio to understand the whole photosynthesis chap
Anyone interested in studying med together ? Making plans todo lists ...etc

Neh you are not late.
Where can i find swedish medical Anki decks? Does any1 know?
What of the following aren't part of immune system?
A. Platelets
B. NK cells
C. Lymphocytes
D. Antibodies
E. Fibroblasts
I would say A or E, but both of them release cytokines and chemokines. Isn't the question ambiguous?
I would say antibodies and fibroblasts. Simply because antibodies are not cells like platelets, NK cells, or lymphocytes (antibodies are proteins). I would say fibroblasts are not considered part of the immune system either because they form connective tissue so they have a support role. That's my opinion 🙂
I agree that this question is rather not specific enough. For me, antibodies are part of the immune system, it's just that they're not cells. And regarding fibroblasts they're not specialized cells of the immune system like lymphocytes, NK cells, neutrophils, etc. which come from cells that generate in the bone marrow. Hope that helps ^^
Thank you! ♥️
I'm really curious that if there's any real enzyme with the similar pH/enzyme activity curve?
i guess its papain(mostly) or bromelain enzyme. they do have variable pH but here as Relative activity is considered it can be taken as constant
Is there anyone who has given plab exam or know stuff about it
Hi guys, any pharmacy/med or chem student can help me organize my lab notebook? im assign to prepare a laboratory diary/notebook for my chemistry classes, and since im a first year student, and this is my first time working in this way, im kinda lost and i dont want to do this wrongly 🤡 any help?

Hi !! That would be cool !! The notebook is for analytic and geral Chem
hello
Anyone interested in psychiatry and could help me out with short case?
Get the carbon copy lab notebook, and use pen only. Write an index in the first 1-2 pages, then write your labs like a scientific paper eg intro, materials (check MSDS for hazards, irritation, toxic, flammable) and methods (the steps), results, conclusion. Take lots of pictures in case you miss something in your notes.
Thank you sm !!!
hey y'all idk if this is the right chat for this but if anyone knows what's a healthy reaction to tattoos could someone let me know if I should call 999 or not?
O need help
I wore so much mask
My nose is half white and half brown
Why did my half nose suddenly become white ?
How much red bull Is enough to make me feel faint?
Too much red bull isn't good, that is for sure! I only use one on a week just before I pass histology class that requires a big amount of work and drawings.
How much Hours/week a med student should put in ?
It definitely depends on what you're doing and what your field of interest is. Although, the general rule is that every hour you put into class is two to three hours of studying. So, I spend five hours in class three days a week. That's 5 x 3 x 2 = 30 hours of studying. Hope that helps :))
were is the breast muscle located
btween the arms
Do you mean the skeletal muscle of the anterior chest?
Someone answer this
Pretty sure this is a channel for med students, not for you to ask questions on your health condition 😅 i'd advise you seeing a doctor
Ask a dermatologist!
Ohh zamn ok

Any Best online site to get notes on bsc nursing 1st yr ?
is anyone here understand HEMOSTASIS and SEPTIC SHOCK
Why do people feel symptoms in right side of body if they hurt left side of brain? Decussatio pyramidum?
Hemostasis the a mechanism of the body that -at least tries to- prevent blood loss. It achieves this by inducing vasoconstriction, aggregation of thrombocytes(platelets) and by coagulation of blood. (Partially also an increase in tissue pressure.)
When someone is septic, they are exhibiting an inflammatory response due to an infection which is so severe it damages healthy tissue. This ultimately results in a septic shock, where the blood pressure is so low that it inadequately delivers blood(~oxygen) to other organs which can cause them to fail.
thnx soooooooo much for help 🥰 🥺

Hello
I was looking in the entry requirements for UCL medical school
For international applications for undergraduate degree programs
I searched for my county and this is what it said
I am confused
Is that mean they accept Jordan qualification?
i wish i could help, when i was in HS i tried to understand many foreign college and even the educational system is totally different and confusing. But what i understood from that is that they only accept A levels qualifications, if i was him i would definitely try to contact them cus they don't actually say if he was accepted or not they only tell you what kind of application they accept
@hot glacier
med students!! what subjects did u take during your first year of pre med and how many?
Don’t they like equalize other countries qualifications to A levels qualifications? If my question makes any sense
is gender unnatural?
What !?
Just 3: Biology, chemistry and russian language
This is relative, countries have different systems
that's why i asked, i just wanna know what everyone did whereever they are.
im doing 5 and its not hard at all so I thought my uni had a problem😅
Here in Brazil there is no pre-med. After leaving high school, u take a test and, if you pass, go to college. There are people who try for years. I tried for 3.5. When entering the first year u start with subjects such as biochemistry, histology, anatomy, cell biology, introduction to the study of medicine, interaction in community health.
thank u so much and can i ask how many years it would take to get the degree/finish?
that's tough
6 years
Quite a long journey

yess, im in my 3rd year of vet school in brazil
hello, i would like someone to help me understand how the licensing thing works in america (for dentists)
hello, i have a question
is thing like Kreb's cycle very important in medic and veterinary?
like comparing to nervous system, respiratory system, digestive system, etc
Hello! Sorry I just opened my discord, mind if I DM you?
polska gurom🇵🇱
What do you exactly need?
I do
Hello Taylor, you'd be surprised, but it can actually come in handy. To give you a good example on where you could use such information, it is good practice to know the Krebs cycle when learning about reproductive physiology. In the male urogenital system the Krebs cycle is pretty important for sperm mobilization as fructose is utilized instead of glucose to generate the energy needed in the sperm. There are modifications reactions done to the fructose to convert it into glucose and if there are some problems going on for those reactions it could cascade into infertility (immobile sperm production). To fully understand, diagnose and treat a patient you have to know a good amount of physiology among other things, and this also involves the Krebs cycle. Hope it helps!
Hi, I'm new to this server, but I would like to know if anyone knows a page where I can practice or use anatomy tests.

Hi. M studying paediatrics currently. First read Neonatology. In that too, read normal first like normal newborn, routine newborn care, low birth weight babies & their management, etc. After that study Growth & Development of babies - normal then abnormal, Anthropometry. Then Nutrition - normally required and disorders due to deficiency. And then at last systemic disorders and abnormalities (system wise)
Thank you!! I will try to study in this way

Thank you so much!!
Thank you so much!!
It will help me a lot
You're welcome, I'm glad it helps!
Nice, was wondering if pacemaker counted or not cause i couldn't recall
Yes it's a medical assist device
Hey, someone in the medical world has heard of the use of modafinil to study and concentrate, and if so, someone who can give me more details, I'm curious about that, I'm about to present the final of anatomy ....
hii! modafinil is mainly used to treat narcolepsy and other types of sleep disorders. it basically reduces sleepiness and is also used to help you stay awake during work hours. but i don’t recommend taking it just to stay concentrated mainly because its used to treat disorders. taking it without doctor’s permission might lead to addiction
i will join
is there a discord channel for med students who study alot everyday that I can join?
lmk if u find one :D
Guy what best drug in FGA for antipsychotic
Is there anyone a bit expérienced got question and im far from able to contect him at the moment
Hi guys
Helooo
any physiotherapists in here? 😁
does drinking more water actually contributes to healthy body and weight loss? (ps: google didnt gave a satisfactory asnwer)
Depends, do you drink it on top of what you normally drink or instead of eaht you'd otherwise drink? If you swap it out the answer is definitely (assuming you don't change any other parts if your diet) since you'd be consuming less sugar and other materials.
did you find any? if you didn't you should probably make one, i'd join
studying
me too! if you guys know of any/create one hit me up please 🙂
meee toooo, im a med student who needs to study alot over this summer
Of course water is the the solvent for the enzymes needed for all biochemical metabolism in the body, drinking more water leads to increase the volume of blood since blood itself is made mostly of water, and with very low concentration of water in the blood it can alter the physiology of most organ and systems especially the kidneys that filter the kidneys into filtrate (urine) to get rid of formed poisons and netrogenous substances. Water keeps mucus lining moist, and cool down the skin when it exposed to dangerous UV radiation by sweat glands.
thanks for the info! appreciate it!
what year y'all in, i'm in 3rd year?
i'm in my final year, just started my 5th month of final year.
what time zone r u guys in?
Pacific
rn i'm GMT-5/Central.
June 2022 Med Study Group
Alright, so I think theres a lot of interest for a medicine focused study group. So how about we just type in a thread in this #medic-help daily.
Goal of the thread/group is to keep everyone accountable daily ish to study! Positive vibes only, and we can type in what study room is the emptiest and we can all study in that study room for the day (prob a diff one daily bc many of them get busy quick lol- whoever wakes up first can decide what study room is the emptiest and we can join that).
We can make it a very open invite to anyone in this chat room—but it is vital imo to keep a core consistent group of people to join daily over the month of June to study medicine. (im super happy to extend this group if it works — but it kinda depends if more than 1 person joins lol)
I hope theres a core group of people that join daily over the month of June ! My goal is to start studying in the morning EST. But anyone can join anytime.
We can call it: June 2022 Med Study Group
Thumbs up if y’all are interested 🙂
(Fun facts: im from Toronto entering final med in sept.)
im in study room 8 !
What is the best way to study Biochemistry?
Flash cards. You need to remember the reactions so you can correlate with many other processes occurring in the body.
Thank you!
flowcharts have also helped me to get an overview of all the different processes
i'd say it depends on how you'll be tested, but drawing out the pathways from memory definitely helps
I'm trying to draw structures without looking from textbook, it helps alot.
And I found out that you should refer to basic and fundamental rules before you start studying, imagine studying lipids metabolism and you even don't know the structure and function of lipids subtypes.
speaking of flowcharts does anyone have like a good flowchart of immunology like of innate and active immunity and the diff cytokines affecting it and shiz
is that helpful at all?
idk if thats anymore helpful
A brief introduction about innate and adaptive immune mechanisms, including Features of Innate and Adaptive Immunity, glossary of cells and molecules involved in the innate and adaptive immune response.
This diagram is fire
If anyone here is majoring in immunology or is just a general Bio student then I suggest the book on Immunology written Philip Dettmer.
https://www.amazon.com/Immune-Kurzgesagt-gorgeously-illustrated-immune/dp/1529360684
Do you have another one for microbiology?
tysm, the visuals are insane wth
hmm I have to look it up on my kindle of i have any I'll post it here.
Ikr it's awesome af
It's beyond the next level
damn this looks so good
What is the title of this book?
Physyology: if K+ concentration outside and inside a cell is the same, the K+ current has a negative reversal potential. TRUE or FALSE?
I'm not sure about this, can someone explain me? Thx
Does your syllabus require you to be able to explain reversal potential? It can be quite complicated if you start looking at it, since it involves thermodynamics if you really want to understand
but the short answer is that the reversal potential for K+ ions is negative (at equilibrium)
I put out the link above, you can check it out.
c?
Ok, thank you!
i would say C is correct
thanks, I agree
Renin -> angiotensin -> aldosterone
When ACE and ARB aren’t working properly to supress aldosterone release, they suggest to use vitamin D + an inhibitor of renin
Why they dont work? The lecturer said they will work for some time and then return to the levels before the treatment. The question is why aldestrone back to the high level after a period of time
Dear God what grade are u in
Second stage
I mean this slide is should be in pharmacology slides not physiology 😅
i would assume its something to do with the receptors not being as sensitive to it after a while but id have to google to find out for sure
i googled about it tbh didnt find good resource that explain it well
if you found one i ll be grateful
are you asking why ACE and ARBs only work for some time or why using vitamin D would only work for a bit?
why ACE and ARBs only work for some time
aliskiren is the good treatment but the fact is it expensive i guess
so they use ACE , ARBs
i cant really find anything online either that isnt behind a paywall 🙃 but i guess one idea would be that if you dont fix whatever underlying problems there are eventually theyll come back ?
like if you're treating hypertension but someone continues to have a bad diet eventually their arteries will clog up more
or something i dont really know lolol
idk i guess there will be some adaptation maybe?
so these blockers wont work after a while
thats what id assume
thank you so much for your time
hope i pass this physiology exam

good luck 💖
They return to pre-treatment levels in 30-40% of patients.
The most favored explanation for aldosterone breakthrough is that non-ACE enzymes are capable of cleaving angiotensin I to angiotensin II, and aldosterone breakthrough is then simply the result of angiotensin II breakthrough.
From medscape. ↑
I don't think they'll be asking something related to that, perhaps what aldosterone breakthrough is, but it feels like something low yield?
Good luck!
So there are other enzymes in addition to ACE will also convert angiotensin I to angiotensin II. ?
thank you so much
Correct
now this make sense !! thank you so much
no problem 😁
Anyone studying chemical engineering???
might sound strange but since the last few days, whenever i listen to 3 newly added songs which are my fav this week, i get a particular smell everytime i listen or sing it by myself, is it just cuz my nose has a particular smell these days due to some reason or is it some psycological reason
If it's only when you listen to the songs, it's psychological I think.
if you associated different senses with different things (like words have colours, songs have smells, names have tastes etc) it could be synesthesia but if this is the only time something like this has happened its probs just psychological or you're noticing the smell of something that's already there more when you're listening to songs you associate with the smell
Could some 1 help me find anion gap and calculated osmols , it's killing me , answers not matching up, damn , so bad with numbers
i think the anion gap is 14.7
I think it depends on the formula you use.
There are 2, (Na+K)-(Cl+HCO3) and Na-(Cl+HCO3). In my experience the second one is more common? So I would say AG is 11 (139-105-23).
By calculated osmols do you mean calculated osmolality?
The formula I know is: 2xNa + Glucose/18 + BUN/2.8.
So it'd be 2x139 + 89/18 + 14/2.8 =
278 + 4.9 + 5 = 287.9
I checked my pocket medicine book and it mentions an equation that takes blood alcohol level into account, but idk how that would fit here because your picture mentions that its < 30.
Thanks ! The dude said AG is 9 , idk how , he just ignored it cuz its in normal range , ( laughed hh -who didnt calculate that ) , so maybe blood alcohol goes into account
Or maybe blood alcohol is given to exclude alcohol intoxication as an answer
I see. Wish I could be of more help.
What's your go to resource
Hey guys. I am currently studying anatomy, but I feel really slow in studying and understanding the structures.. do you have any advice to be a little bit faster?
i hate anatomy bc the only way to learn it really is to memorise stuff so flash cards help, kenhub is a pretty good source for learning but you have to pay for it, https://teachmeanatomy.info/the-basics/ is a good source too and https://www.vhdissector.com/lessons/cadaver-dissection-guide/?fbclid=IwAR2FSUzwrzSkamAR64_00m0mtiZ0z3Pf24FJ8MoDn77AWVMOAB-Ib2mcHZA if you need to learn cadaver stuff
drawing out the structures and labelling them and then trying to draw/label from memory
i also got a friend to draw on a huge piece of paper around the outline of me lying down and then i made post it notes with all the bone names and joint names and practice putting them in the right place and restart whenever you get something wrong or dont know
same could work for muscles
but i was lucky my flatmate studied art so he could draw the bones and muscles for me bc im terrible at drawing 💀
you can also buy anatomy posters and then cover up the labels and have a go naming them from memory and starting from the top whenever you make a mistake
Thank you so much🙏🏻🙏🏻
What if you are studying topographic anatomy?
Is there any japanese medical student here or anyone who is currently living in japan and knows about medical colleges there
Hi, dose any one know the different between adenosine and ATP¿.
Hi
adenosine is a nucleoside made up by adenine bound to a ribose. ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is a nucleoside triphosphate, made up by adenine, ribose, and the triphosphate
Heyy, does anyone know how to prep for nbme exams for General pharmacology and general pathology. I am really struggling with question solving so if you guys know any qbanks for nbme prep, that could really be helpful, thanks!
If any1 is preping for PLAB///usmle , pl dm :)
if you have any body pens or something that washes off you could draw on yourself/a friend
Does anyone has zoom link for usmle library?
anyone here who have suffered from hives?
i have since 3 years.
it comes and go away and then returns back
i have another medical condition along with it
dr says if someone have hives there are chances they have this too
What is Hives?
Ah that's sucks!
Allergies never go away
They always stay with you! U can get medication for it but the effect of it will be temporary
Urticaria
Just avoid food, clothes, and temperature that cause it I meant Live in an area that is neither too hot nor too cold.
After every bath, apply lotion in your whole body! I can recommend u some
And yeh sweat causes hives
And also the main cause of hives is stress too! The more stress u take the more hives reactions u have
Thank you so much 🙏
What food should I avoid?
Have you suffered from them too or are you doctor?
Can hives cause death?
That depends on ur body!
Just don’t eat food that are identified to cause u symptoms.
Nuts , milk, eggs, fish , wheat, soy generally cause hives
Not really!! U just need to be aware that there are higher chances of risk of developing a life threatening condition called anaphylaxis for people with urticaria
But don’t be scared :))
@proud sable study about hives and ur other condition through internet to be aware of them completely! But yeh google can literally make us think that we gonna die next minute anytime we google symptoms/health issues lolol
if you think food might be the cause of ur hives then you can try an elimination diet of the foods @proud sable listed but be aware it usually takes 8 weeks of cutting something out of your diet before you will know if it makes a difference or not (in terms of allergic reaction) and milk is in a lot more things than people think ;-;
and also taking antihistamines can help or using antihistamine creams
Guys you are in which year of study?

@opal ibex 💕
A four-year-old girl weighing approximately 20kg (44lbs) is admitted in shock after an automobile crash. What should be the initial volume bolus of Ringer’s lactate?
- a) 200ml
- b) 400ml?
- c) 440ml
- d) 880ml
I'm extrapolating this from shock from dehydration so take it with a grain of salt. In shock caused by dehydration, you administer 20 ml of LR per kg. So [assuming the same volume applies here] the answer would be 400 ml.
i asked a tutor and thats what they said
thanks guys
so the learning point is 20ml/kg of Ringer's Lactate is the initial bolus regimen for shock?
I saw the Dr prescribing to the patient
afair the regimens are different, perhaps he had both HCV and HIV infection.
i think it's the treatment of HBV the one that shares a couple of drugs with HIV.
Which of the following electrocardiogram changes is/are not found in hypokalemia?

Oh great! Glad I could help.✨ Have a good one ✨

Hey.... Can anyone tell me the difference between Active Site and Binding Site????
The active site is where the enzyme connects to the substrate , and it has two sites , binding site responsible of holding the substrate while the reaction is happening , and the catalytic site responsible for the reaction itself
