Hello guys.....I'm trying to find a better term for "Stereotypes in Men"
or the word to address the stereotyping specifically on males ?
Hello. I dont think there is another term for "Stereotypes in Men" other than male stereotypes. There is this term called "the Man Box" that you can use in certain situations. it refers to a set of stereotypical rules, expectations and behaviors on what makes a man "manly" and what "manly" behavior should look like.
a general term for the man box is Hegemonic Masculinity
oHhh i see I also considering thats that the case.... Thanks for the answer.....though I now have to revise my paper
i have no idea if it counts as a social science thing but
i kinda need people to answer this thingie for maybe future projects
and like yeah
ill get no info other than the answers

[INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS/INTERNATIONAL POLITICS/INTERNATIOANL STUDIES]
is anybody familiar with Japan's public diplomacy history/timeline, specifically in the context of Japan's sports diplomacy? e.g. Tokyo Olympics 2020, 1964 Olympics
if anybody is familiar with it, please enlighten me useful sources around these topics. thank you!
in general how should one study for history exams on a specific unit? (im taking apush and its been kinda confusing on how to find a successful study method)
read the chapter thoroughly and make notes side by side
for dates, you can use excel and put all dates in once and then sort them
It's been a while since I've taken history, and I've got no experience with apush, but it should still be generally applicable.
-
Develop a strong timeline of events. This is by far the most important thing when writing a history essay. You want to be able to continually explain how one event impacted another. For example, you may need to understand how conscription in the first world war in the USA and Britain lead to more women in the workforce, which in turn lead to women demanding more rights, eventually leading to suffrage for women. There isn't a quick way to do this, but it's the most fun in my opinion. You will eventually be able to form links between all of the major events and people, and be able to explain why A->B->C.
-
You're going to need to bring along lots of primary and secondary sources. In modern history you generally want a 50/50 split, in ancient history aim for a 75/25 split of primary/secondary. A great place to start is at the bottom of wikipedia pages, or sources at the back of a textbook. For ancient history in particular, there are books that exist for each civilisation that will be your bible for primary sources - they'll have a particular artefact or poem or written history, followed by a paragraph explaining what the source is and why it's important.
-
Now you're gonna have to piece them together. One popular technique for this is to get a large piece of paper and write out a complete timeline with links between events, and sources for each of those events. I wasn't a huge fan of this, I kept a lot of it in my head most of the time, and listened to Khan Academy videos to constantly remind myself of timelines (I can still remember much of the Vietnam War video 4 years on!). Now you've just got to structure your essay, which is the easiest step if you're well prepared. Write essays and hand them into your teacher for feedback and ask for good examples of essays. If you're got steps 1 and 2 down, you're gonna have an easy time!

In the field of international politics, diplomacy has various forms and sports is one of them.It is a common way of conducting the sports diplomacy to add some sports element in diplomatic activities or to directly use sports events as a diplomatic means.Since the end of WWII,on the basis of its special identity and international status,Japan has...

does anyone know the answer, what does examining everyday objects from ancient greek world reveal about these societies that texts cannot?
You'd want to bring up the fact that most of the surviving texts from ancient greece don't accurately describe everyday life. For the most part they're mythology, literature/philosophy, or histories.
thank you very much🛐
im very confused on an assignment 🥲 if anyone knows how to read journal articles, could you lend me a quick minute?
we are supposed to read an adolescent development journal article, and just basically see if the authors hypotheses were supported or not. however there are no Hypothesis section in this article... only an introduction to most of the key concepts and thats it. plus they are tackling 4 semi separated problem so im not even sure if im supposed to be looking for 4 hypotheses?
"per capita consumption of steel"
what does it mean
Best I can do: The amount of steel consumed by an individual that was produced by a given entity like a country or maybe company in a specific time-frame
Per capita consumption means the use of goods and services by each individual per annum
Per capita consumption of steel is basically steel used by each person of that particular country that yr
it probably just means "total steel consumed" divided by "total number of people"

Anyone know about conflict theory and deviance that could help explain it?
hey, so I am going to be giving an architecture exam and the required subjects in high school for it are physics and maths, my school doesn't allow us to take that those two with history and the exam has a history section as well, the syllabus is this-
For the historical section, the questions may concern such topics as the aspects characterizing twentieth-century history and the current world (industrialization and post-industrial society; the acquisition of fundamental rights; new subjects and movements; the welfare state and its crisis; processes of globalization and conflicts across the world), The test aims to check consistent general criteria of chronological knowledge with regard to key figures and phenomena of historical importance (over the course of ancient history, the early and late medieval period, the modern age and the contemporary age). This general historical/chronological knowledge will also be tested by way of verifying knowledge closely linked to specific artistic and architectural events (works of architecture or artistic movements)...
i was wondering if you guys knew any books/sites where I can cover these topics and what should I be reading,, also sorry for long msg id rlly appreciate the help 🙂

hi there, i hope this helps a little but in journal articles, some writers dont often implicitly say their hypothesis (?) some just kind of write it in between the lines? this is just something my lecturer is currently teaching us in classes because we are learning how to write a journal article

Quick tip: If you want to find a study or article you do not have access to do this
Put the name of the study in the search bar (has to be google)
Then put a space and end with "filetype:pdf" all in one.
Ex. "Role of Sport in International Relations: National Rebirth and Renewal filteype:pdf"
This filters through PDF results and will 99% of the times give you the study
Thank you so much!! I didnt know it would work like that! Will surely try that hack soon!

hi guys! could anyone explain the concept of regression in psychology pleasee? because i can't really grasp the definition
Regression is often described as a reaction/defense mechanism that causes someone return to a past developmental stage. For example a teenager might start wetting the bed again after visiting the hospital. This is a child regressing to a past stage where he wet the bed. This is especially important potent in child psychology.
ohhhh okay tysm!!! I think I needed an example to understand it😁
Anybody know how to prepare for a critical thinking exam? Its basically about arguments, premise, conclusion, ladder of inference, inductive and deductive reasoning and stuff. Have my exam on the 8th if someone can help.
Hi, sorry, this is incorrect, or at least not the most common use of the word regression in psychology literature. Though the word "regression" can be used in the way described by intro, it is likely not what you are referring to. Regression is a type of statistical analysis that is used to estimate the strength of the relationship between variables. It is similar to correlation, but is more sophisticated. Linear regression is the foundation of most statistics used in psychology.
Yeah two regressions but I think she would’ve corrected me if she was anywhere near statistics but thanks for clarifying
Adding to cmoore's reply about regression in statistics, regression analysis is also used to know the direction of the relationship. In some relationship cases, variable A might be the one that causes the variable B, or vice versa. Variable B might be the one causing A. If you've done the regression analysis, then you'll be able to determine is it A that is causing B, or is it B that is causing A.

There are many ethical issues about which people hold very strong
opinions—abortion, gun control, and the death penalty, to name a
few. If you were a team member on a project with someone whom you
knew held an opinion different from yours on one of these issues,
would it affect your ability to work effectively with this person? Why or
why not?
anyone here know anything about philosophy and Sir Francis Bacon?
Hey! could anyone refer me to books and academic articles on international space law?
hi all, high school economics question: what is the simple formula for aggregate supply?? I only remember aggregate demand (AD = C + I + G +X -M) and google is giving me various answers that look way too complicated
can anyone here thats studying poli sci or history tell me how they study? im trying to use digital flashcards atm is that a good choice? it feels like it takes a lot of time just to make them
hi there, I am currently doing 12 units of social sciences for my HSC (I'm not sure if that means anything to you) but I have found that the best way to study is to use digital flashcards to remember facts, and to continually practice analysis so that you have a deep understanding of the conceptual basis. for history in particular I use cards to memorise dates, names, statistics and historians; then I constantly do practice essay questions. It takes a lot of time to make them, but if you use them correctly then the facts become imbedded in your long term memory and your analysis is always detailed
thank you for that!!
anyone doing an economics major in university? i’m a year one student struggling 😭
what are you struggling with ? :)
well im struggling in general its a microeconomics course and I was wondering if i could turn to anyone here for help? :0

Im on my third year of studying economic science, if you need any help you can DM me
Thaaaanks Isaac! 😊
As a STEM guy my understanding social science is being socialize! 🦅 now please elaborate what actually social science really is? How they impact etc etc!
Hi i am graduating for poli sci this year, and one things that has helped me is mind mapping . so you take the central theme and from it you draw out the key aspects that you have to remember ,once this is done i create a very simple story, so simple that i can explain it to a child
this may not be related to social sciences, but how do you manage to keep up, memorize, and survive History classes. I personally cannot bear them, in my country, its all memorization (which is probably the same case in all other countries), especially with the fact that i have an exam tommorow and ended up procrastinating till 8 PM. What are your stratergies to studying and memorizing tedious subjects like these????
I can completely relate to you. The process I use can be time consiming, but it does the job so I hope it helps some. I usually take regular notes on the chapter(s) assigned. then I watch a few crashcourse videos on youtube. These videos help me so much and sumarize a lot of what your reading into main points. After that I rewrite my notes and simplify them. By now, you've gone over your notes about 3 times and most of the essential info sticks. You could also try to use mnemonics if you want to memorize rather than analyze. Heres the link to the crashcourse youtube channel. (https://www.youtube.com/c/crashcourse) They cover many topics, but history wise i think they mainly focus on american history (im not sure if thats what your studying or not😅 ). Best of luck on your exam!

well social science is a VERY broad term and can encompass just about everything (history, geography, psychology, sociology, economics , politics , ig stuff like law aswell etc.) and I think GENERALLY these subjects helps us get a better understanding of the world around us but thats just how i see it
Thanks a lot for your valuable explanation.
I'm working on a small psychology project for my club, do anyone know how to counter the bandwagon?

Basically, if we are a leader who's country is about to enter a democracy, which regime is better: parliamentary, semi-presidential or presidential?
ah yes, I sure didn't think of the obvious 😄
depends of the context of the country, presidential is better for the leader because powers are very separated, so there is a greater stability for the president, but people have more opportunity to express themselves in a semi-presidential or parliamentary regime, so if the leader is supported by a great majority, these maybe better as here, people will be more represented and it is the general idea of what a democracy is (I'm far from being an expert, this is just some memory from my lectures)
can anyone download this and send it to me here ASAP?

hii hii! is anyone here familiar with Rawls' Theory of Justice as Fairness? i'm kinda lost on his 2nd principle : (
It's the principle of equality of chances, which aims to counterbalance the effect of the "social lotery" (basically no one deserve to be born in a rich/poor family etc). For him, this social lotery have a very big impact on how someone is going to live his life, according to the social context he comes from. So, the main institution for the equality of chances is school. But, the idea of equality of chances is insufficient, as there are not only differences among individuals based on the family context, there is also a "natural lotery" wich is the unequal distribution of natural faculties (intelligence for example)
Hi i remember i watched a lot of videos on yt last year to study that, if u look it up maybe u can find something useful

hey thanku sm. yeah i needed this.
No problem, good luck with your orientation/decision! 🙂
Hey,
does anyone know where to find good sources for history assignments?
There are lots of jobs you could get with a undergraduate degree in sociology that any other major could get (like HR or secretarial jobs). But the ones that are more specific to sociology are things like: nonprofits; public policy/government; social work; law; or academia (I.e. getting advanced degrees in sociology and becoming a professor). I’m sure there are lots others but sociology isn’t my field. Here’s another list: https://www.utm.utoronto.ca/careers/careers-by-major-sociology#sample job listings
thankyou for this !! it's rlly helpful💌
Due to translation I don't understand what u are looking for. Can you describe what you mean?
Sorry about that, I need to write 12-15 pages about the question "patterns of legitimation of Spain's slave-system" (Idk if that's a good translation) and I don't really know where to find valid information.
You can search up sources like Google Scholar, WorldCat or any university's library if you have access to it
You can also watch out for the references in wikipedia, articles and stuff. There often is relevant literature with valid informations.
Ok, thanks a lot!
You can use serious Youtube Videos or documentaries about that topic to get into it. Sometimes it helps with figuring out helpful keywords to look for.
Serious Channels also have references. 👍

hello does anyone know what marginal nationalism is
Hello...I would like to know if you already got an answer. Cause I got the aame question as yours.
i actually havent sadge
im assuming that its the nationalism that promotes nation dtate like patriotism and unlike the aggresive and expansionist nationalisms such as chauvinism
"It refers to the nationalistic movement characteristic of border territories and populations such as Alsace, Lorraine, Silesia, Schleswig, the Saar and the Rhineland, the Italo-Austrian and Swiss frontier, and similar strategic areas in Europe."
You can read more here: https://www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/pdf/10.1086/217296
Presumably, it means nationalist movements taking place at the literal margins of a politically organized community/state\

I think 10hrs a day is excessive. That leaves little to no room for other important aspects of life : rest, social life, sports, ...

guys i need a help regarding how to memorize long paragraphs
It's big task
But first you should understand what the paragraph is actually about
Then split it in points like 1), 2), 3)....
Then you can underline key words and try to make sentences on your own using those words.
I prefer not memorizing each and every ans from any book or answer books instead try to write what you know.
Also u can make a story of the ans to remember or you can remember difficult words using some items
For example 'calcareus' is exoskeleton on phylum echinodermata (it's from classification of animal kingdom bio)
Now if I want to remember 'calcareus' word ill split it CAL (calculator) CARE (eng word careing) US (we..us..)
In this way I can remember the word and it's spelling too
This sounds childish but that's how I remember half of book and its fun
And when I try to remember big paragraph of ans sometimes I make actions like I am teaching a 2yrs old kid it's fun and easy
For ex, loaloa is animal example on roundworms (same topic in bio)
I do hand wave cause loaloa sounds like wave ...and yeah hehe

hi guys! is there anyone who can help me with my microeconomics problem set?
hey i someone capeable to explain the bretton woods system to me?
You need to write a policy proposition as if you were the comission ? In any case, I suggest you looking one real example up, it's very long but you can get the structure and what it consists in
anyone knows the answer {w explanation pls 😦 }
polska gurom🇵🇱
Hi
hey any cbse humanities student?
I might be late but from what i read 💀 normative influence in is conformity to a group because you want to be liked and information influence is confirmity because on the basis of information provided to you, wether you think its right or wrong. Normative behaviour leads to group think nd group polarisation occurs under informational influence...i think
This is the simplest way i could explaim. There are other phenomenon in confirmity. Like ppl want to confirm to norms because of social inhibition or when we operate on social modes where we assume other person has more knowledge about the topic than we do
✋🐧 yes!
thank you soo much ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ

I think this quote is refering to the Milgram experiment where subjects would give electric shock to people because they were told to do so by an authority figure. They even increased the intensity of these shocks when the authority figure told them to increase it, knowing well that this would severely harm or kill the person. So the exp usually tells us how people can do 'bad' things just because an authority figure told them to do it even if it is something against their own moral values and judgement.

Hello ! Anyone from class 12 humanities here ?? INDIA I wish to have a study buddy for like a month till the exams are over

can anyone help me find the difference between morphological and deriviational errors during reading duties for patients with dyslexia?
Any one doing psychology here
About what ?
I picked the course for next term, that is the reason why am asking.
let me know if I can help u
i can try! but derivation is part of morphology, im not sure if ure asking about differences between those two...?
i got a quick question what is the real point of studying history?
me bro
general knowledge. except that there is no real point.
The main point is to study the past to learn why things happen in the present. That’s the mayor benefit of studying history. I’ll give you an example: the way the Spanish colonized Latin America was very different from how the British did in North America, hence the big development difference on the present between this two regions.
Things like that make history vital for other social sciences.
I guess that by studying history you can learn from others mistakes and successes. The way that its usually taught in schools doesn't really do this though, so I think it kinda has to be self taught. That being said though, I think the great part of history is that it gives context that mere statistics and hard science cannot, and you can apply the things you learn in your own life. History is pretty vast, there's absolutely a ton of things you can learn from.
I mean basically all the things I have learnt from history is don't go into politics lol but I'll say sure
did anyone do a malcolm vs martin dbq?
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vYGfYDV8QzGcTH0QNEnFbGN6N7GhQz2B/view
its for apush and im having trouble with it lol
Not sure but the answer you chose was about a compliance technique while the question is about an obedience study by milgram as someone else previously explained. Idk which of these answer will be the correct one tho
hi i have language science exams but i can't understand how it works is there someone who can give me tips ?
Does anyone here do politics at university?
@fast lagoon alright
What are the topics in your syllabus??
It was the introduction to language sciences
yes
does anyone know how to read like two books in one night? like fast reading for 500 pages, i have no choice
it depends on the books you need to read, can you tell us a bit about them? I am asking because the process differs from let's say fiction and scientific literature
law literature, i'm using acrobat to read them for me, couldn't think of anything elsd
it's allright with acrobat, like it's just a reading medium
and if you want to read a lot and fast you need to read smart not hard
go to the glossary of the book, and scan throught the chapters
you'll see stuff like introductions to chapters, you can focus on introductions since they sum up the contents of the chapter itself
then while reading a chapter or a part of the book and you encounter a quote like "Machiavelli said that...." 9/10 times you can skip over that because it's just an oppinion about the subject at hand and not required for the understanding of the chapter itself
you have a tool in adobe reader called highlight, you can use that to highlight the most important part of the page
keep in mind that the most important part of the page sometimes it's just a sentence which describes the whole page as a whole
if you want an example of all of this you can send me the name of the book you need to read and I'll try to show you my method in action
it was a good idea
Slavery Abolition Act, (1833), in British history, act of Parliament that abolished slavery in most British colonies, freeing more than 800,000 enslaved Africans in the Caribbean and South Africa as well as a small number in Canada. It received Royal Assent on August 28, 1833, and took effect on August 1, 1834.
