Me 👋🏼 ~
Lmao
- Dudes, did you hear that? He told me to fuck off when I say nicely.
- Yeah, I heard. He is looking down on you. haha
- So you could kill me, but you're pretending not to know because I'm worse than lower animals?
- You fucking bastard go crazy to die !!
It is hard to translate due to some slang and swear words.
Ahh ty ty ty ty
My interpretation is a bit different. From what I understand, the third line should be:
So you say you could kill me but I don't see it because I'm less than animals?
The speaker is saying that the other person thinks of him(speaker) as less than animals and so they don't even know the fact that the person(X speaker) can kill the speaker. I guess it would really depend on the context? The text is worded weirdly...
ayo my english is dogshit, does the semicolon make sense here?
This snippet is used at the beginning of the song in the lyrics
“Skin is, skin, is
Skin black, my skin is black
My, black, my skin is yellow”
which sets up the main idea of the song; race.
Uh
I was given this as a practice work what are some tips to get a 5 out 5 for this text. Also is there a text version of a 5 out of 5 paper, i found one but it was written pdf and it was hard to read
Hi I signed up for the iETLS exam level B2 in
1 month, do you guys have any idea for me to improve my english effectively ?
If you want some IELTS excercises, I recommend the one which is published by cambridge, the blue&black cover one. I think its content is quite similar with the original IELTS exam
yea I found it. (Although I didnt finish the whole book before I take IELTS :P

Is anyone taking French
hello, I think you would use regular colon like this :
Hi everyone, can someone please help me with my homework?
It's about english, but idk if I wrong or the page is wrong
https://es.liveworksheets.com/worksheets/en/English_as_a_Second_Language_(ESL)/Grammar/Apostrophe_'s_and_contractions_xe8493xs
Hallo from Germany everyone! 😊
My situation:
I’ve been studying Japanese for two semesters, but sadly the course for this semester was full.
This means that I will have to self study on my own if I want to continue.
Yet I am worried about my motivation.
My plan:
Is there anyone who is also studying Japanese and would be open to meeting up once a week and quiz each other on vocabulary?
Extra information:
Oh one more thing: I can read Hiragana and Katakana, but I would not be able to help you with Kanji.
U need help in a specific number or u need the whole thing? Maybe i can help im not native but i consider myself fluent
I only need help in the section of apostrophe s
U don't need to be a native, I'm 90% sure that the page is wrong, the thing I want is that you confirm my theory
well u are right, i just tried to answer and it gave me 0/100 and im pretty sure that i have most of them right
Anyway these were my answers in case it helps you
im not sure of the possession ones if im being honest tho but i think that is how it is
i can do those but it is gonna say it is wrong as well no matter what i write for what i am seeing
Below there is a button
For confirm your answers
Yes
I think the page is wrong so don't worry
Thanks a lot
no problem : )
For anyone who's taken the Official Thai Proficiency Test, what does it consist of? Like the JPLT theres 5 different test based of fluency and it's all multiple choice so idk if it's similar or not
สำหรับใครที่สอบวัดระดับภาษาไทยอย่างเป็นทางการแล้วประกอบด้วยอะไรบ้าง? เช่นเดียวกับ JPLT มีการทดสอบ 5 แบบที่แตกต่างกันตามความคล่องแคล่วและเป็นแบบปรนัยทั้งหมด ดังนั้นฉันไม่รู้ว่ามันคล้ายกันหรือไม่
Anyone taking french GCSE or just in general french?
I'm a French teacher
@balmy bobcat DM me if you need anything!
thanks
Guys can u help with 6
It is a bit hard to read
is there anyone here who is learning multiple languages at the same time??
yes
can you give me any tips? for example, what is your routine or how do u organize everything and so on
tbh, i dont really have a special routine. usually i just keep the study process of them seperated (mornings are for one of them, the evenings are for the other). first of all, i make one of them a priority (the one that i know the worst) and spend more time on it. then, i just split the days between the rest
Maybe check out a youtuber called Lindie Botes who has a lot of content on language learning and multiple languages at the same time ; but spoiler alert it involves organisation and planning, (and not having goals so ambitious that you can't reach them and ultimately give up because you could'nt match such high expectations). It also means assessing what your level is in each languages and how close they are to each other :if you learn roman languages like french and italian at the same time, it might be easy on some part since these languages can be similar but tricky to differenciate and isolate each language with it's own particularities, grammar points and culture.
im studying 3 languages in school
fortunately we speak all of them at home
hey i'm french so i can help you 😉
thanks
@balmy bobcati'm french too
Cool
Hey guys, have someone twisters in english for children?
yeah this sentence is grammatically correct
it might make more sense to say "I'm not as pessimistic as I used to be." (also theres no r in pessimistic btw!)
- consider ""straight long black hair""
- oversized
- clothes cannot be slim..try using something else..
- as i used to be (ending)
Hi everyone ! I'm French, so if you have any question or if you need help, feel free to ask me !
- Is it like the rule when you have some adjectives stay together? I dont remember thay much but it may be OPINION -SIZE -AGE -SHAPE -COLOR -ORIGIN -MATERIAL -USAGE
yes there is a rule
i dont remember it much u can check the web..

Someone who speaks spanish ?
yes
to want is querer and wanting will be estar + queriendo
to live is vivir, it will be used as an infinitive
im not sure if its the correct one or not
las familias estan queriendo vivir en el campo
How do you describe flowers in a public garden using one of the descriptive devices? doesn't have to be too long but I don't really have any idea
hi
I want to improve my English grammar
Idk how to use (is-are)
EX: I said yesterday(If there is ads in the website) and that was wrong
What am I supposed to study in the grammar
ok so for something like “there are ads” (a subject complement if you like specific terms lol), you look at the noun after “this [be verb]”. if it is plural (like the word ads), use “are”. if it is singular, use “is”
thanks 💀
thank you
what about when I want to ask or this change the rules
EX: are (you) okay?
ohhhh
nvm Ill do my searches thanks
heyyy so i need some spanish help because google is explaining this terribly:
does nuestr@ relate to the person that is possessing the the 'thing' or relating to the thing?
This is a video that breaks down the method I used to achieve basic fluency in Spanish in 44 days. I took Spanish in High School over a decade ago so my Spanish knowledge was very basic. This video includes several tips and exercises that you can incorporate into your own language learning routine.
I created a similar method to learn French. Ch...
Idk if that was helpful but I got this vedio but not watching it
I don't speak spanish
e.g: if 'our' relates to two women would it be nuestra? or does it depend on the thing that they possess?
lmao
it depends on the people you are referring to with the word “our”. so the first one lol
so if it was two women, but you were referring to un perro, for example, it would still be "nuestra perro"?
yup
'is' is used when the subject is singular (eg: he is here)
'are' is used when the subject is plural (eg: we are here)
depends on the person who is saying those lines, if the grp has 1 man and 2 women, it'll be nuestro instead of nuestra
feminine words r used only when all of em r women
Hello I need help with a short text in English, I wanted to know if it is well written
hiiii do you still need help?
hey! is anyone good with prepositions, if so, can someone please check my answers.
I don't have enough confidence to stay it's perfect, but IMHO it should be near perfect
thanks
if any of you want to learn english, i know a good podcast where they speak english and you can learn a lot 🙂 https://juliankratzer.substack.com/p/episode-1-exercise?r=p16rc&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&utm_source=
Listen now (33 min) | A discussion about working out and sports with two interesting guests!
hii i think i can help you with this
yes please
native here, your exapmle should be "nuestro perro". "Nuestra" should be if the dog was female (perra). So yeah, it applies to the gender of the object, not the individual
sorry if it's a little late ^^
narrate:
“This swan is so white,” he thought, “and I am so black. This swan must be the happiest bird in the
world.”
I wasnt the one who asked but thanks for the explanation cause i read that and i just thought it sounded really weird but since im not native didnt want to induce anyone in mistake
can someone help with sanskrit @everyone
till 3 years ago, I had been studying it for 6 years. Now I don't remember anything coz i was out of touch
Hi !
Please don't ping all 7500+ online members of this server. 😕
Just ask your question, and somebody will most likely read it and answer. If not, that means nobody's able to help you. That's it
者 means person (in relation to status/type of person)
e.g. 翻訳者 (translator), 医者 (doctor), 若者 (young person)
身 means person (position)
e.g. 出身 (persons origin), 身長 (persons height/stature), 身上 (a persons background)
you can tell the differences if you look at the meaning of the specific kanji and look up a bunch of vocabulary the kanji is in. hope that helps :)
hellloo anyone here learning Korean?

learn the 1000 most common kanji
duolingo
Hey!
Is there anyone who knows Russian to please help me put some expressions into English
I'd be appreciate))
Hi everyone can someone tell me what is the difference between (bend) and (bent) please?
Well, I'm native Russian speaker, but resources... I don't know... but you can read (if you not yet) «Fluent in 3 months» by Benny Lewis. This book is suitable for every language. And Duolingo of course
Okaaayy thanks for ur help
Using a language is the best way to learn it anyway, so... Just try to watch some videos, movies, read newspapers, books etc. It is the language environment that is important here.
But this still requires minimal grammar, so start with it: verb tenses, declension...
If you want I can try to messaging with you in Russian (or in my poor English 😃 )
And I am very interested in the reason why you decided to learn Russian
:)
Actually I asked for my friends cuz he doesn't have a discord's account and he doesn't know where can he learn Russian
Okay, understood
But my offer is still valid even for your friend))
Well, i need to go to bed now. So goodbye, have a great morning/day/evening/night
(Time around the world sooo different)
Okay, thanks to you :) My spirits improved a lot, even though I had a little disrupted my sleep pattern
Goodbye!
Дороу :) ✌️
do you have a great german podcast?
Try "Niklas und Konsorten"
I belive I know him
Hi !
(To) bend is the verb (it's irregular)
Bent is the past participle and the past simple of "bend"
Hi thanks
хеллоу хаха
bend is a verb and bent is an adjective
Thank You 🙂

i think this might help ya: https://allthingslinguistic.com/post/143133795554/how-to-remember-the-ipa-consonant-chart

Hey does anybody have something for english essays?
like what?
Like what comes in one or a already finished one that I could read through
related to a specific topic ?
Globalisation and Consumerism
you can search the web once..
also check NCERTs of class 10 economics
I will try that, thank you
i wouldnt recommend ncert cuz most of the stuff is outdated and is only focused on india
but they might get an idea of how and what to write
they dont need data
@nova sinew wt exactly r u searching for in 'Globalisation and Consumerism'?
tbh, ncert is shit
doesnt hv anything theoretical and practical as such, its just a textbook for namesake
this is a good read: https://pubs.aeaweb.org/doi/pdfplus/10.1257/jep.20.2.145
We need to find out the world of work and consumerisn and what globalisation is but also how it affects the planet and what we can do against it
Thank you very much :3
Ohkk, for this topic u can focus on the immigration and braindrain
Then talk bout the factors related to globalization that affect the economy and why are they caused
After, that you can give ur opinions (if asked) and possible solutions for it
To make ur essay solid, add a lot of facts and sources to support ur arguments (could be graphs or news links etc.)

I will have to describe a picture and have a conversation with someone about tourism. It also would be pretty helpful for me to have someone i could go to to ask questions about spanish and maybe even talk to but if i wont find anybody that would be ok too :)
I'm native I could help you with your doubts
That would be great! :) I will make sure to contact you whenever i need help! Is it ok if i add you as a friend? If not then that's totally fine too ofc

Sorry this is a little late, but if you want an explanation but when you're using those 3 just try and think of "much" as being many or several, like "many thanks" for "muchos gracias" and "muy" as being "very". Muchos being to a high degree numerically and Muy being to a high degree conceptually like "very good"
Dunz know if phrased that well but yea, that's what helped me through Spanish
Muy
Muchas gracias*
I don't take Spanish anymore so I don't keep up with studying it much, I knew the part I said enough to get a good grade but I never understood when to use muchos vs muchas
Could you explain the difference for usage in that case?
(I only studied up to American high school Spanish II so my knowledge is not very in depth)
muchos is masculine and muchas is feminine, about how to know the gender of a word, ending with 'o' usually refers to masculine and words ending with 'a' to feminine, although there are quite a lot of exceptions
Oh okay, so Gracia is the base term for thanks that makes Gracias, so the feminine term is used
Thank you
Hello, I need help with German. Send me a message in the direct if you want to help me.

it'll be mis right? (possessive pronouns)
Yes i think so

Grammar help, please.
"...we are looking for performers to execute the event as memorable as possible."
Is this correct? Should it be memorable or memorably?
memorable is an adj whereas memorably is an adverb
it'll be memorable
cuz u r describing the event, the way u want it to be
Okay. Thank you!!!
hey can anyone send some spanish - A2 lvl grammar worksheets for practice? it'll be rly helpful

Can someone plz check my answers
isnt it pidieron in b?
ellos me pidieron creo pero no se
also in the last one idk i would write tenia instead of tuvo but i might be wrong dnt have spanish classes for 3 years now
@lethal fog
np, if u do put tenia instead then i think u also need to change the previous verb tense tho eran muy jovenes los dos cause if u put fueron its like saying they have been young and it dsnt sound good. I truly hope im not inducing u in error, if any spanish native can confirm what i just said i would appreciate it
i mean the fueron depends how u interpretate it i think
Good idea.
Assuming that you need the ones marked with a circle,
b) ... me pidieron un préstamo...
k) ...ustedes montaron en caballo?
l) ... hermana tuvo un niño hace poco
sorry to bother but assuming ur fluent in spanish can u confirm whether is right what i said in my last message above please?
it is correct, using "tuvo" doesnt sound good to me, idk the reason behind it, like, the explanation/concept behind it, but "tenía" is the right one
alright thanks thats also what i though but was afraid of inducing in error
the i) for SaKa when she reads it
me
@lethal fog @atomic topaz @tawny sedge In Spanish we never use "tuvo X años", always "tenía X años" when describing an past situation, this is because the past perfect simple is ONLY for finished actions in the past
but please, be careful because you can find "la mujer tuvo 20 años de mala suerte" which is a completely different structure that is finished "tener + something"
alright thanks ah maybe kinda dumb question but havent studied in spanish in three years which one is the past perfect simple tuvo o tenia?
past perfect simple is tuvo, and past imperfect simple is tenía
muchas gracias : )
hey does anyone know french
i am stuck on something
how do you say "the organisers should make more effort..." in the conditional tense of devoir
"Les organisateurs devraient faire plus d'efforts"
if it's conditional present
"Les organisateurs auraient dû faire plus d'efforts" for past conditional
(there's another form of the past conditional but it's not very used so i don't think it's necessary here)
Thanks I think I got it
Ohkk thx
hey @bronze meteor sorry to disturb you but could you confirm my answers? (FYI: This is a PYQ)
a) nacio
b) eran
c) era
d) aprendio
e) sono
a) nació
b) eran
c) --- (empty) "hablaba" is correct
d) aprendió
e) soñaba
why would e) be imperfect?
because a dream about your future is something you have during your life, so it's not over yet
oh okay, gracias!
Anyone preparing for ielts

can anyone vet my essay paragraph ^^;
Our current lifestyles are environmentally unsustainable. How far is this true?
Our perpetual desire for convenience in life causes us to adopt some environmentally-unfriendly habits that can worsen air quality for now and future generations. Due to the fast-paced environment and the bustling economic scene in most developed countries, many city dwellers seek swiftness and effortlessness in life to save their precious time. In addition, humanity’s over-reliance on technology may have made many more lazy and hence favour convenience. Such ways of living can be seen in many commuters’ quotidian modes of transportation as many choose private transportation over the more environmentally green public transportation. According to a Statistical’s Global Consumer Survey in 2019, more than half of Korean commuters chose private vehicles as their commonly used mode of transportation due to less walking time and faster arrival time despite the efficient Korea transport system. Besides our modes of commute, many of our shopping habits such as our thoughtless overuse of plastic bags also exacerbate air pollution. Due to the availability and hassle-free characteristics of plastic bags, many of us neglect using reusable bags and carelessly overconsume plastic bags. However, our selfish actions for the sake of mere convenience can aggravate air pollution as private vehicles such as cars can produce 100g more CO2 per km more than public transport such as buses and the burning of 1kg of plastic bags can emit a staggering 6kg of CO2. As we continue to choose such environment-degrading habits, air quality will be worsened, affecting the livelihood of even the future generations. Due to the adverse health repercussions of air pollution such as causing serious illnesses like bronchitis and pneumonia, air pollution can hinder our day to day actions, making life less enjoyable. Therefore, our current lifestyles are environmentally unsustainable.

Is grammar important for the English lesson or should reading and listening be done?
hi does anyone have any tips for cramming for Spanish? I’m taking the clep test soon.
yt vids for the grammar topics and solve as many worksheets as you can
yea a bit, but reading and listening will help you with the sentence structure
but practicing grammar will only make you better
Language learners talk alot about immersion learning (for japanese) but how are you supposed to read Kanji when the only thing you do is listen to japanese stuff?
Sorry but i'm still confused on how you learn and memorise hiragana's, katakana's and kanji's through immersion
Hi who is learning Russian or would anyone like to help with learning English?
in university we get taught kana in the first two weeks, after that the profs expect us to read it fluently. we learn 20 kanji and their readings in a week and exchange the kana parts with the kanji after awhile. so if we learned in lection 1 that its ''ともだち'' then in lection 2 we learn a new Kanji and replace it like ''友だち'' and so on.
idk how self learners do it though
many games/apps have a lot of katakana ( maps/character names) which can help a lot
Kanji can be a tough to read as a beginner but if you know what word ( in eng ) comes in that particular place you can simply just search up the kanji fr it
No but I mean I should learn how to read kana and gana before all this
could you please explain what you mean by 'before all this' ? 🥺 do you want to start out with something different besides hiragana and katakana first?
i learnt hiragana and katakana through duolingo
i read several mangas and articles containing furigana to polish my hiragana and katakana reading
Aight I see thanks for your help ^^
Hi u russian?
No Problem
All the best n happy learning
Not exactly a immersion learner but here is what i do since kanji is too boring to study:
I have a twitter account where i only follow Japanese people with my specific interests
For example for me it is vocaloid/utaite music and art
I basically try to read these peoples tweets and guess the kanji based on the context and then search it up (use kaku app on android a screen dictionary)
By seeing that kanji many times i end up recognizing and then memorizing it
I also learn words and phrases with this
Basically I use dictionary to learn new stuff that are in my interests
School method of learning seems harder to me so yes
Also for hiragana and katakana i recommend you just sit through japanesepod101s alphabet lessons on yt
They give some good examples to remember
French
I'm thinking of freelancing my learning for languages, are there any resouces to help with spanish, french, or japanese?
awesome~ which level? I study for HSK 4
HSK2, HSK3 soon
awesome! 加油!哈哈哈
add oil !!
hii
can someone give a couple of examples when "issue" and "problem" are used? I tried to find a normal explanation for the difference between them, but in the end I just got confused 😕
here ?
okay no problem where ?
hmm
Study room 21
I don’t have a computer which is pretty dumb so excuse the back to back stuff the back to back
ok
alright what
I can’t pull up my screen?!
darn I need someone to change it for me
That’s alright I guess I’ll just send the answers here
La fille vient de travailler
it's like for who but idk if there is a proper translation
yeah x)
est-ce que
no dont say that you are good
woo thanks
could someone explain what does "he is a unit of negative output" means
context ?
it seems like a metaphor being used as a way to say he slacks or brings a negative outcome around him?
description of a time millionaire
just my guess at least
thanks
give me
there’s so many questions. Once I finish the 20 questions I gotta do about 60 more..
ohhh man xD
sorry for taking your time of the day
dont worried
ok I am doing a few questions to make this go faster
np

woo
i can also help if you have something to do
francais ?
yeah
Quel
what verb means to take?
Pendre
100
well probably xD (idk)
well it's one of the evolution of latin i think
cent is a prefix in century meaning 100, cent is a Latin word I think
yes french derived mostly from a spoken form of latin
parler
yes if you say so
yes parler
porkbun you should say which one you think first before asking for people to do your homework...

i studied the evolution of french language hehe
wooooo
I am french
I’ll try next time thanks
me too
oh nice
what do they mean when they ask this question?
I think it may be ecoute but
idk what they’re asking
écouté
brick do you know anything about Creole
the verb -er is the infinitive; the "passé composé" is a form of the past tense which has two parts
my mother’s side of the family speaks it and it has some French in it, she never taught me creole though
woah thanks
unfortunately no, creole is only part french
That’s actually a really helpful way of explaining it
ah
first verb is an auxilière "etre" or "avoir" plus the participe passé
there are usually verbs in -er, verbs in -ir, and the 3rd group which is a mashup of every other endings lol
usually I have my mom help me with this but she is out at the moment 😭
oh yes I got 2 more questions
ok now I’m very confused?
C
The easier questions I got was like about traditional stuff but I don’t understand the grammar in French
this is passé composé
guys let porkbun think before answering hahah
As well as masculine and feminine nouns?
sorry...........
no I’m sorry 😭
verbs and nouns*
so you have to conjugate the verb with the noun
sorry about that
bun bun what is the noun in the sentence
but it's even more complicated in this tense
in French the noun comes before the verb right?
usuaklly yes
il
ok is it masculine or feminine, is it plural or singular
Masculine
and idk if it’s plural or singular
I keep forgetting the definition of those two words mb
same as in english
singular is one personn
ok so singular right
plural is multiple
ooh ok
il is "he"
so the singular 3rd person form doesn't have an <s> with verbs
it's not exactly like that
ils is masculine and elles is feminine and they both mean they
and is that mainly for the singular form of the masculine and feminine nouns?
oh I eman plural
just for il
no plural can have the <s> but it's more complicated than that unfortunately
oh man
plural for "they" usually have an <ent> ending
oh yeah I see that in one of the examples I’m looking at
but you shoudl learn all the terminaison with the pronouns
“Ils veulent”
the wha huh
yes yes
idk how to say it in english
the verb ending ahahah
it's a particule of grammar that comes around when you conjugate verbs for some tenses
thanks
oh ty
ooh this reminds me of the time I was studying Japanese particles
but in that way you clearly see it's very close to latin
(french not japanese haha)
I might study Latin later on if I ever stay interested in Catholicism hm
French is complicated even for French people
good luck
true
you are going to suffer in Latin if you already struggle with french; good luck buddy
what is an easier way to remember aigu and grave and to not mix it up?
ok so what do you think
thanks 😭
I’m thinking grave?
when you say aigu, it makes the sound of the accent (it's like if it'd be égu (DONT WRITE AIGU LIKE THAT))
is aigu for only A’s?
aigu is going up , grave is going down
oh wiat it’s not
just like the sound
ooh ok ok
nope
if a sound is "aigu" it's high, if it's "grave" it's low
I only remember circumflex cause the word flex reminds me of 💪
And the accent mark kinds looks like a 💪
this porkbun
ooh
so my answer would be aigu
and e is the only vowel that can have an accent aigu
well i never saw á in french lmao
BUT there's é and è and they're different
pronounciation is different too
é is more "closed" and è is more vocal
(it has to do with how much you open your mouth to pronounce it)
ooh ok ty
ok so on this one I’m aware she is spelling her name out, but that is the other stuff before it and what does it mean
and if it’s wrong may someone use it in its correct form of a sentence
I believe it’s B??
yes
"dis" is the verb "dire", to say; and "épeler" is the infinitive form of the verb "to spell"
ooh ty
so how come the answer wasnt c if it’s relating to spelling out her name
or maybe it was and I pressed the wrong one
because of the infinitive form, it's better to answer the question with the same verb, which is "s'écrire" and in B it's precisely that
écrire means to write
oh wow just learned about consonants
if C was " épelle" or "épelez" comme ça; it would have been correct too
oh that’s interesting
because it is in the imperative form; but that's a bit too far ig for the moment
for the first time I feel like I’m actually understanding French
Usually I jsut remember stuff without knowing the meaning behind it
like with this question I just remembered it started with a Ç
ye understanding how the language works is wayyy better than just memorizing it
From what I’ve heard it comes from German and Latin
yeah I remember trying to do that with Japanese
and tbh I still only just memorize it
but after this I think I might look back at it
for the first time this is fun
Ça va bien (if I said that right)
latin of course german has had influences with the Frank domination (sorry my wifi is crap)
spanish and italian are roman languages so they come with Latin influences, and ebglish is way too remote to be considered an influence
yeah cause Greek and Latin are the influences on English
nah it began in the 5th century but there were alot of invasions and multiple "goths" influences in the culture
I have a question and it’s not elaborating on who I’m giving the gesture/greet to. Like if it’s a stranger or someone I’m friends with?
kiss
ooh
noooo*
lol
formally is handshake
bisou bien baveux
you’re lucky I haven’t pressed the answer box hm
if you are friends then its "la bise"
sorry
I knew it wasn’t hug, I’d feel uncomfortable too if someone hugged me as a greet 😭
covid is a perfect excuse not to get those anymore hehe
😭
tu fais 2 ou 3 bises ?
2
wha huh
french people thing
the number of "kisses" depends on the region
yup
i'm not revealing more things about myself
my apologies
I just remembered a movie where they had two French people from the opposite sides who didn’t understand each other’s accents
by opposite sides idk how to word it
regions I guess
haha ye it can happen, especially with north/south accents, and the quebec ones
there is a big difference beetween marseille and the chti
100 more questions 😔
ooh that’s interesting
even french student don't have this much homeworks
wait what?
no
you guys also use the @ sign?
yes
oh thank god
and it has to do with gmail or hotmail or things like that
they also say you guys write phone numbers with 2 digits per section rather than three
Like uh if I put 21-43-82 or something like that
while in America is 920-829-7392 (and yes I put in something random)
no it starts with 06, 07, 05
and 01
ooh ok ok
and there are 10 digits
do you guys also have the first numbers in phone numbers based off of the region or something like that you live in?
not realy
it's more like 06 and 07 are for personnal phones, 01 is for home phones or companies/ administrative phones, and 05 is usually commercial calls
and 09 too
that’s smart wow
I think it’s only different in the us because of how big the country is population wise
oh but indeed 03 is for the north usually and so on
good luck!
ty
I was today years old when I learned cat noir meant black cat

Hey guys if anybody needs help with german - I am your man! 😄
Hello, is anyone here Japanese? I want to translate a word.
guys can someone help me with my " homewortk "
It is not a homework . It is just something I wrote
and just want to make sure if what I wrote is good or not
U can look up the word on jisho.org or u can use deepL translate
( im not japanese, i hv been studying jp fr a few months )
hi, i'm Japanese
yeah sure
@lost echo can u explain this translation?
i can!
"echar de menos"+ somthing = to miss something // "echar de menos a"+ someone = to miss someone, it uses the conjugations of the verb "echar" the rest stays the same format
He echado de menos a mi familia en vacaciones = I missed my family during vacations
Echo de menos la comida de mi país = I miss the food of my country
thx a lot gon!
wts the meaning of ¨Neurálgica¨, i cant find it
¨central o neurálgica de la educacion¨
"neurálgica" is related to medicine but it is also used to refer something really important "centro neurálgico"
for example, the CERN is a really important place for quantum physics, so you could say " El CERN es el centro neurálgico de la física cuantica"
ohkk, thx!
baguette here, what's your question 🙂
mmh can you give an exmaple that you are struggling with?
okay sure
so the phrase says ''si cette fanaisson persiste, les organes se dessechent et la plante meurt'', et je dois exprimer cette phrase avec une autre methode en utilisant en+participe present, plus specifiquement, en+persistant
let me search "fanaisson" i'm not sure it's a word
oh really
ah it is a word but it's not very used haha i had to check
and it's fanaison i think
oh i was probably wrong when writing it lol
is it right to say ''en persistant cette fanaison, etc etc''
mon prof a dit que ca etait fauc
faux*
mmh it's tricky, you could say, "en persistant, cette fanaison desseche les organes et fait mourir la plante" and that is correct, but are you sure you have to use en+ persistant?
it could also be in a sentence like "c'est en persistant que la fanaison dessèche les organes et fait mourir la plante"
yeah it's tricky because we're already expressing l'hypothese en utilisant ''si''
i think the first phrase makes sense
omg i think i got it, merci beacoup :D vous m'avez sauver la vie
oh bien sure
"en persistant cette fanaison peut dessécher les organes et faire mourir la plante"
or pourrait
so i can say ''c'est persistant que la fanasion peut dessecher les organes et faire mourir la plant" since the second phrase made so much sense
it depends on the probability of the 'fanaison' having a definite impact on the plant
you can use "c'est en" but it is not necessary in the sentence i just used
oh i made a mistake i forgot the ''en''
actually i had a hard time understanding this method of expressing hypothsis since we didn't do no example on it
and the difference between "peut" and "pourrait" is the one you make with "can" and "could"
pourrait is much better i think
ye it's more hypothetical ^^
got it! i'll go write it down now and see my teacher's opinion, thanks so much for your help !
no problem 🙂 glad i could help
"nunca flata pan recien hecho" (accent on recien)
wt does this sentence mean? @bronze meteor
recien is like just made, fresh
so it is: fresh bread never lacks
or something like that
ohkk, thx again!
If somebody wants to learn german and is good in basic maths, i would love to exchange knowledge! 🙂

How do you learn a foreign language grammar?
I am not an expert but this is my POV on it. English is my foreign language and I learned (still learning though) it by listening a lot to it, using it, and studying new words day by day. I am at the point where I don't need to go to English classes anymore, but with that mindset I'll fall behind others, so I continue to learn new things day by day. But lets take as an example the German language. It's harder to learn because there is a lot of grammar in it, and all that. If you are studying the language at school like I am, you HAVE TO study it on time. If you fall behind with a language it will be really really hard to come back. I know it from personal experience. This school year is my last year of studying German, so that'd be a problem less xD. If you don't study it in a school, I really don't know, maybe buy a course or hire someone to teach you. Get yourself a dictionary, listen to the language. I wrote about vocabulary as well, which is helpful with grammar as well. I hope I helped you. If you need any more help write to me...
Thanks! ❤️
I would choose in vii) a) visitaba, the rest I think are okay
could you explain me the reason
like u r implying that he visited the palace for a certain period of time on a regular basis and then finally the royals accepted his req?
But when you say visitó, you are implying that he only when once when in fact he went several times
oh okay, cool thx!
Hey people, I hope y'all are good.
Is there anyone who can take a look on my english work ?
DM me in case you can

I need hielp with english speaking skills on Chill Out, if there's someone who would like to talk about anything.
thank you so much :)
How can I get free german books?
Can someone olz check my answers
the d is "quisimos", everything else is correct
why though?
cuz siempre is an indicator for imperfecto
i really dont know the grammatical reason behind, I am a native so for me it just sounds wrong
this site explains it really well https://www.dummies.com/languages/spanish/conjugating-the-irregular-spanish-verb-querer-to-want/
Spanish verbs fall into different groups, and each group is conjugated a little differently. If you’re going to master Spanish verbs like querer, you need to be able to identify which group a verb belongs to: regular (follows regular conjugation rules for -ar, -er, and -ir verbs), stem-changing (morphs depending on how you use it […]
Never say always nor never with spanish, there are exceptions to the exceptions
oh god, now im freaking out
i hv an exam day after
welp my teacher just sent me the AK
nope, this AK is from the board (she didnt make it)
well she is a C2 lvl
Tell her that answer is not right, it doesn't sound good and is weird..,
she did not set the paper, out board (administration authority) did
she cant do anything bout it
Oh, right!! My only advise fot your exam then is for you to follow the grammar theory
cool thx a lot! i'll keep in mind bout wt u said
If you have any more questions, we are here
uwu thx for ur support!
HELLO! I just finished a short script and I was wondering if anyone can think of a title to help me!

Does anyone know Urdu or Arabic? I need to learn a sentence for a best friends birthday
@torpid scroll
yes i am very profound in urdu
i can read arabic but i dont understand anything from it
Here! I could help with Arabic
Omg thank you so much~ Is “Salgirah Mubarak” a common way to say “Happy birthday” in Urdu
I’m trying to learn how to say them in both Arabic and Urdu, however i want to make sure im using Up-To date terms and the correct term as well
"salgirah" is more like anniversary
i think you can use
""janamdin mubarak""
janamdin = bday
That is exactly why i came here, thank you so Much❤️
There’s so many resources that aren’t correct ;((
yeah
specially for indian languages
What is the difference between "efficacy" and efficiency?
I was told Janamdin mubarak is Hindi- I’m so confused
salgirah mubarak - urdu
janamdin mubarak - hindi
Thank you <<33 i wanted to verify
здарова
Привет
Я живу во Франции но на самом деле я русский
Hey guys, can any native English speaker or somebody that is good at english proofread my Culture Paper? It´s about 2 Pages and counts as 20% of my grade. Knowledge about how to properly quote a online source is welcomed too! 🙂 Thank you in advance ❤️
hindi and urdu have common origins and have many many common words
Yeah i did research and it seems Urdu and Hindi are quite familiar in certain things
yes yes
so janamdi will be more appropriate as to "salgirah"
Even to a very close friend, whom is younger?
yeah
coz
salgirah= anniversary
I want to say Happy Birthday
there so such proper thing as "happy birthday" tho
even we say "happy birthday" only
Im assuming Salgirah and Janamdin both have the same common meaning- just used differently depending on context
kinda yes
but janamdin actually means birthday
coz
janam=birth
din=day
salgirah mubarak is spot on, janamdin mubarak would be a little more formal and weird if its ur friend
janamdin is used in diffrent context like when ur referring to ur actual birth date
salgirah mubarak means--> salgirah means birthday and mubarak means blessed
so you could say "app kou salgirah mubarak ho". technically if its informal and ur besties u could say "tumhe salgirah mubarak ho" but it sounds kinda weird and saying "app kou salgirah mubarak ho" is much more polite and cute in a way
its similar to like how theres a difference in informal or formal birthday wish in korean
but it really doesnt matter!
Hola! Hi! can someone tell me what do they mean by ''contrato social'' in this peace of text? La crisis de América Latina plantea en algunos países una necesidad de reformular el contrato social, lo cual es "una buena oportunidad para evitar el surgimiento de opciones populistas, que las va a haber de todos los colores", sostiene Malamud.
el contrato social hace referencia al conjunto de derechos y deberes de lo ciudadanos
The social contract usually refers to the overall rights and duties of the citizens of a country
Hi guys! Do you know good English textbooks? And what is the best way to learn languages in your opinion?
Try Duolingo. Also Word power made easy by norman lewis is a good book to refer to
Thank you!
i think it depends on ur mothertongue, we used to learn english with the red line and green line textbooks in germany, which were pretty good

Hi looking for language buddy I can talk in french about my day and can correct me, I can help back with Spanish and English ^___^
Hey did sbd read crooked letter crooked letter here and can that person explain me the book sometime?
honestly i'd do everything to work on my french, i'm trying to get fluent but ye
maybe we can work on it together
Hi french speakers,
i just heard someone say "les personnes qui ont beaucoup de confiance en elles"
and then someone else said "les personnes qui ont beaucoup de confiance en eux"
My question is: "personnes" is grammatically feminine, so the technically correct pronoun would be "elles" right? But is it more natural/common to say "eux"?
you guessed right, the correct way to say the sentence is "les personnes qui ont beaucoup confiance en elles-même" (note that it's more common to avoid the "de confiance", as the "avoir confiance en soi" type of construction, and say "elles-mêmes" rather than just "elles" which signifies "themselves" and not just "they")
ok merci bien 🙏
yea!
but it's a grammatical error that speakers make, because technically "gens" is feminine haha
(french language 🤌 )
sorry hahaha
