thx bro
No prob!! Good luck and have fun!
I'm not german but my german is quite okay, whats your question?
I have a small text and I would like to have it read, will that work for you?
@slim topaz
guys anyone is native indonesian? I have a question
Yupp no problem
Ill add you it is easier i think
Don't ask to ask, just ask ^^ https://dontasktoask.com/
Does somebody tell me why my answer is wrong? (bahasa indonesia)
Spanish and Arabic 😶
Should be gaun hitam saya besar, I dont rly know how to explain why thou
oh wait it writes it at the bottom hahaa
i guess in indo when u write "(I/his/her/etc) something" u must reverse it
Like This book is interesting
Is written as buku ini sangat menarik, or something like that
Yes, hiragana is the best to begin with!
Also, keep in mind that some characters are written differently by hand and in text. Those characters are き(ki) and さ (sa). There are also different ways of writing ふ(fu/hu) and そ (so) so it's good to be conscientious of that.
Try your best to get pronunciation of each sound down too! (Unlearning the wrong pronunciation is really difficult). There are a lot of guides out there for everything.
The best textbook series in my opinion is Genki, but they are kinda expensive so I dont think I've ever bought them myself. Taekim's guide to Japanese grammar (you can download a free pdf of it from the website: http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/) is an extensive grammar guide that starts from basic grammar and builds it's way up to more complex stuff. It give a lot of example sentences which are extremely helpful. It also introduces all the words used in the section so you don't have to look up anything.
For kanji, there should be a list of jouyou kanji (common use kanji) which are essentially the most common kanji used by Japanese speakers. You will learn them as you build your vocabulary. Personally, for dictionaries, I use https://jisho.org/ which has different sections for examples sentences, kanji reading, and even conjugations of verbs. Like any dictionary, be sure that the word you are using is the correct word since there are many words that have the same or similar meanings but are used in very different instances.
If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out. You got this and good luck!
Hello!! some who speaks spanish that could help me with this? I don't understand a thing. Thank youuu ❤️ .
Hey! I'm a spanish native speaker. DM me whenever you want!
Hi everyone! I came across this video and I found it really useful. Just wanted to share it with you guys

Stop learning languages and start acquiring them! Jeff Brown is a full-time language instructor and polyglot who guarantees anyone can acquire any language in one year!
Here is my book with more or less the same information. I'll share it for free until I publish it in 2021.

That video is too long, i'd recommend watching this instead. Im sure it explains the whole thing better, good resource though!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8JK8W8dBxk
Language Isn't Math. The reason that traditional language learning programs thrive is that most people haven't been introduced to this basic idea.

"Saya gaun hitam besar" which have the structure S+O doesn't make sense, it's the same like saying i am the big black gown
"Gaun hitam saya besar" which have the structure O+S make more sense because we are explaining that the big black gown belongs to me or the same with "my black gown is big"
(S = subject and O = object)
Omg thank you so much!!
I need help with my korean oral practice
Thinking of learning korean any tips on where to start?
any spanish speakers willing to help me on an exam next monday:’)
An channel to learning japanese with games
Hey all! How do you guys motivate yourself to learn a new language?
I am forced to learn French at school and I can't motivate myself to learn it.
Daily small victories. Learn a new word or two that is relevant to you, create a history around that, and things like that. Have fun learning and you will be speaking it in no time 🙂
Practise in duolingo
I am not a beginner. I am intermediate. If you give me an essay I can understand
That is a great advise!
If you are intermediate in french you can try to watch french youtubers
With subtitles if it's too hard
that is a good idea. I have never thought about it.
Personally I do this but with english youtubers ^^
You can try to watch some videos from "Cyprien" (he is the 2nd most famous french youtuber), he articulates good and all of his videos are subtitled in french
I will check his vids out.
And if you like science you can watch some videos of "Dr Nozman", he generally speaks slowly but they are not subtitled
you can start with talk to me in korean they provide good videos to learn korean.the comprehension is easier than production. I am not really good myself
thank you 🙏
i wish i could help you more but i need myself help🥲
np i'm grateful for any little help i can get ahah
if you can learn hanja it will help you to know were the word come from and make it easier to learn
i did learn a bit already just to dip my toes in the knowledge a little cause i was still choosing a language to learn
oh nice ill check it out thx
im starting to read a little but im never sure of the pronunciation any place i can check?
papago or the naver dictionary can help
i usually just throw it into papago (a korean translator) and click the speak button
but what would make it easier is to check the change of pronociation
thank you so much im just starting and it really helps 😊
its ok when i have time i will send it it to you writen on my computeur
dude youre amazing ahah
have you ever used duolingo? i'm doing the alphabet lessons for now but idk if its the best option for korean
its ok i have to go back to study korean anthropology
sounds fun
I'm interested on learning latin, does anyone have any tips on that? Resources maybe?
bro if u wanna paratic eng go play fortnite and make a friend
games are not the way to go if u want to learn a language properly
dm me if you still need help ^^
I don't want to be mean, I'm just curious and really want to know why: Why do people use duolingo at all? It's one of the worst language learning apps i've seen and yet, its always being talked about in this channel. Is there any reason to this? Like, is it so easy to use the reason why people recommend it? I just want to know about this. Sorry if i seemed rude, it was not my intention ^^
honestly idk i don't usually use it but a lot of people recommended it to me.
i'd guess bc it's easy to navigate and plans ahead for you and not actually for the learning part
Oh ok, thank you so much for answering! ^^
anytime 😊
Hey can anyone recommend me some books for learning Japanese ? btw I am a beginner
i can give you some resources, if you are interested just dm me ^^
Hey guys! Do u know english book, story etc. for beginner?
And i wanna talk with someone who learning english so we can develop our english level, if u wanna, send message to me
hey I just read ur msg , tbh I find your informations quite useful so I searched the genki series
lucky me I found them ( even if Ihad money I couldn't buy them here where I live ) 😂😂 modern problems requires modern solutions
I am on my way learning hiragana characters , I'm almost there nd I just don't wanna have a bad pronnunciation so I think I need the right ressources to begin with 👉 👈 if you may help me
Then don't use genki, its really bad.
WAIT WHAAAAAT???
May i dm you? So i can explain the whole thing better
I just searched up a video for you. I briefly watched it and it should be good! It has all the sounds and pronounces everything for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3VlMGUhtjE
And I recommended Genki to you because it seems to be the favorite series for many Japanese beginners, but that doesn't mean it's the best for every learner.
When I was a child first thing I had learned was this Basic Alphabet あいうえお AIUEO. In this video, you will learn Japanese vowel sounds AIUEO along with usages and intonations in native ways.
Video chapters:
0:14 Introduction
0:48 Learn Japanese alphabet Hiragana, Katakana あいうえお AIUEO in a Chart
3:06 How to pronounce basic vowel AIUEO along with...
sure feel free to dm me
I'll give it a try
ohh thanks

Hey, Folks! I'm learning English and I have a question about a slang. What does mean " Breeze " ? How can help me with that
@fleet spindle it means something will be really easy or simple to do
So, that's right. It's just that I listen a lot of rappers saying "Breeze" so I thought it could mean something else.
Thanks
Breeze means light wind, like a Breeze means that it was an easy task (like the wind going by, that's how I think of it)
Well,I can help you with russian if you want
Hey guys, please can someone help me with english. I would like to practice it with someone
What is the difference between 'various' and 'a variety of' in English?
Let me give you a sentence with each.
Various: "There are various ways in which you can study".
Variety of: "There are/is a variety of ways in which you can study".
By the way, you can say "there is a variety" and you can also say "there are a variety." However, please know that "there are a variety" is closer to the standard. If I were you, I would use "there are a variety". If you'd like to know where this comes from, here's the link: https://thegrammarexchange.infopop.cc/topic/there-is-or-there-are-a-variety
(Reposted from old newsgroup on 3/14/03) Would you say: There is a variety of ways in which a vacation can be spent. or There are a variety of ways in which a vacation can be spent. I say "there is" because it has to agree with "variety" (singular), but some say "there are," or that both ways are correct. What do you think? Diane
Summary: "variety of" and "various" - you can use them interchangeably (so when you want to say "variety of" you can replace it with "various". Same thing with "various", you can replace it with "variety of"). The difference is, of course, the spelling. Another difference is that "variety" is a quality, but "various" is when something has the quality of variety.
I hope this helps you. If anything confused you or if anything was not clear, please say so and myself and other English speakers are more than happy to help.
My best advice is to search for free online textbook PDFs. Just make sure to install trusted antivirus software because some people upload "free textbooks" online when they're not really free textbooks, they're just a way to infect people's devices with a virus. Please be careful.
I’ll keep it in mind ,thanks😊
his text was a couple days ago, I think they got it already.
I personally recommend Memrise. Also, here's this link for some list I found. https://10mag.com/10-of-the-best-free-korean-learning-apps/. Hope this helps.
Thanks for letting me know, it's just that I didn't see anyone mentioning online textbooks and I think they're super useful.
You're welcome.
You're right, online textbooks are great
Not having to worry about shipping time/cost/paper waste is such a privilege
i am going to my korean orale exam i am so stressed
Is anyone here interested in a language exchange? I'm a Brazilian Portuguese native speaker and I'd like to practice my English
here
hi guys, can anyone help me with English? I have a an Advance English test in a few days and I need help with some grammar exercise. I can fluently speak Italian too 🙂 Thanks!
I haven't learned this and my teacher is making me do this for a grade can someone explain these?
you're welcome ^^
For an explanation: Even if "association" usually means a group of people, there is only one group. The conjugation of "to have" in the singular 3rd person in present tense is "has"
Oh Ok that makes sense
I haven't learned anything in lang arts tbh
all we did was read a book
Sadly, that's typically how LA classes go 😪
Most teachers expect you to know the grammar even if you've never been formally taught it
You got this!
Hello i need help translating (Japanese) this sentence in a casual form, "Let's videocall sometimes if you're not busy." Thanks in advance!
Serious inquiries only.
I’m from Paris and I want to improve my English via zoom meeting. I can teach French in return.
I search someone serious to talk minimum 5 day a week.
Warm regards.
Hey guys
I want to practice my speaking skills can someone help me in that?
I can teach Arabic in return if you want to.
@everyone
without CAM is iti okay ?
How about this: 「もし暇な時間があったらビデオ通話しよう!」
Thank you! Is this like the common phrase that Japanese ppl tell their friends?
It would depend on the context. I think most people would just say "Let's talk on the phone when you have time" - and then the details of whether it would be a voice call or a video call could be worked out closer to the time or on the call after it starts (with an app like Line, for example).
Or perhaps more of a question, or a "can I" - like "are you busy Sunday? can I call you?" that kind of thing.
As someone learning the language you might find that easier, too. 「日曜日、暇な時間ある?ならば電話しよう」or something like that
Oh should i just say lets talk on the phone instead? Btw im talking to my younger cousin from Japan, we have video called before.
She doesn't speak English and i talk very little japanese, im from Philippines.
Yeah in that case you could say something like "また電話していい?" (can we talk on the phone again?) - that way it uses the "again" to suggest "like last time", and if she doesn't want to use the video function she will probably say
My Japanese isn't great, but I hope the ideas help. 🙏
Or maybe not "very" little cuz i've been studying Japanese for a year now, but definitely nowhere near pro level. 😅
教えてくれてありがとう 本当に
lol your Japanese is probably better than mine, then 😉 good luck with it! it's great that you have someone to practice with
いえいえ、とんでもない 😎
Should i say また今度 or just また is fine, cuz she might think that i wanna do it right now.
また今度 works, or そのうち might work as well
Which one do u prefer?
maybe また今度
Thanks again! Do u mind if i send you a friend request?
That's a nice idea, but to be honest I don't chat much one-on-one, just the group chats like on this server. Thanks, though! 👍
Oh ok I'll just ping you here next time i have a question if that's okay to you. 😅
Sure 👍 will do my best to help
Hello, im willing to provide free support to anyone willing for pretty much any help about Korean as far as my knowledge helps. (native Korean&English speaker + studying Korean)
Can anyone explain to me the difference in "may " and "can" and when which is used?
Hi ! Does someone who speaks english fluently can read my analysis of documents for my English lessons and tell me if there are grammatical or orthographic mistakes (it is my last score of the year and I must not have a bad grade 😨 ) ?
__If you want I can help you with French __
Thanks !
Here is the analysis 🙂
hello guys
May is used to express a possiblility or ask permission: There may be a storm tomorrow. May I use the bathroom.
Can is used to express ability (something you can do) or to ask for permission in informal situations: I can balance a coin on my head. Can I go to the toilet real quick?
I hope that helps
Thank you, the storm thing helps! Would you say that "the first-formed ion CAN decompose further" or "the first-formed ion MAY decompose further" sounds most correct? I was thinking that "may" only meant asking for permission so I was confused why I thought "may" sounded like a good fit
Maybe your confused with might? As in there might be a storm tomorrow but I am not sure?
@young forge
So I find this quite hard to answer but to me it sounds like this:
CAN decompose further: It has the option of decomposing further, it can "choose" whether it does so or not
MAY decompose further: It might decompose or it might not, That or the formal way of having the option in which way it doesn't make as much sense to me.
I hope this helps at all, do note that I am not an English native speaker. Personally I would go with can i think
Hello, guys, how are you? could someone help me understand why i can read and understand english okay, but i can't speak and write well? I don't understand
I think you should practice to writing, speaking a lot so your english will develop
Maybe you can talk with native person but if you can not do this, you can talk with yourself, i know it is so crazy but it is working
And you can try to write diary
I am not native person but i am learning english, if you want too, we can practice
Ooh! This is very cool. Thanks for your help 🥺🤏
what country are you from? Ah, I'm Taiane. And you? What's your name?
Hello, guys, how are you? could someone help me understand why i can read and understand english okay, but i can't speak and write well? I don't understand
@gusty lotus It is all about practice
A good habit is to talk to you while looking at the mirror
Productive skills are more difficult to master than receptive ones in any language. Keep practicing! Don't give up.
Btw, Is there someone here i can have English conversations with? I can help with your Spanish
u mind helping me with spanish hw :3
Hi everyone, just dropping it here in case someone ever needs it (thought I doubt it lol). If you need help with Dutch (From The Netherlands, Not Deutsch (german) from Germany) Hit me up and I can help out.
Hi @young forge I'm currently checking your document and finding some minor mistakes. I'm not a native English speaker but I am correcting some things that I noticed! I'll send it soon.
@young forge
Oh thank you really much !! That’s really great 👌
as Julio said above productive skills, speaking and writing, are more difficult to master than receptive skills
In order to be able to speak and write better you need to listen and read more so you would have more vocabulary and expressions to use
- try to watch movies and series or listen to podcasts
- try the shadowing method
- practice speaking with natives and write more
Good luck 😄
Thats not really homework, but im looking for someone to talk with in english to improve my talking skills. If anyone wants to help me u can pm me
No problem! I'll send you a private message
it is much more difficult to make sentences than to understand 😄
try to find an online friend and chat with him, or join postcrossing.com and write postcards
Hello everyone !
how are you guys ? and how is your day? wherever you are in the world
Hey i am in france i am so tired and stressed because of finals . And you ?
Hi, can anyone tell me the difference between bessere and besten (german)? Vielen danke.
Surely
"Besten" is basically the superlative from "gut"
"Besser" is the comparative from "gut"
In conclusion using "am Besten" just means "the best" and "Besser" means "better"
My level in French is basic and now I'm stressed
Thanks!!!!
Okayokay
Thanks!!!!!
Okay, thanks. I'll look :)
would someone help me in my english online exam
sure!

I cant seem to move forward or have a progress bc i always forget abt it,, i think memorizing or even understanding on my own is not really effective,,, I used to learn more effevtively whhen communicating with others
wouldn't it simply be jacitis ?
(i'm answering several days late cause I was looking through old messages who's learning latin too)
the resources will depend on what's your native language. I can give you some if you speak French. And I would say the most important thing in latin is grammar. If you know your grammar and have a good dictionnary, nothing can stop you 😉
For basic conversations, we can study or practice together if you want. After a few weeks (maybe a month) I’ll probably get back to proper studying.
it's something like where do i find your essays maracas (i think like the instrument, just look it up) bitches, or by maracas they meant m.ricas which is a slur so don't say it lol (it means f*g)
what means " C'est la première fois que j'entends parler de cette nourriture"
It means "It's the first time I ever heard about this food" : )
there's no literal translation when you're using "maracas" as an insult, it's chilean lang I think; but it means "where can I find your essays Fkng btches" or something like that
gracias!!!!!!
Ohh niceee okay okay I love that!!
Hope it will be helpfull
My camera is a mess sorry
I greatly appreciate your kindness😘
You are my anjel !

I speak Spanish
could you help me practice spanish?
so, when i make an utterance about something in the future that is not true, i would use the futuro de subjuntivo in the main clause, right? But i would use the condicional in the subordinate sentence? @desert tundra
Lets say the sentence is Even if it is going to rain, we would still be going on a camping trip.
Would it be A pesar de que llovere, nos iríamos de camping.? @desert tundra
Speaking??
If you don’t mind, I’m going go DM you
sure pls
yeah or chatting
I could do chatting
itd be "A pesar de que lloverá, iríamos de camping" but yes, the tense is right
so far so good for me 😄
DM whenever you have time and I will answer as soon as I can
ask a more specific question🙂
where do you need help exactly?
sure, DM me if youd like
I can try to help you
Hi, can anyone help me with the meaning of "have at thee"?
Today I have my French speaking test, I'm dead. The only thing I can say is "Je m'appelle"
both "se permite" and "se permiten" are commonly used. Dont know if that helps you though.
Read the statement again
but like base don the text, it says dont carry big equipment? for ur baby
or something like that
why is se permiten wrong in this case
because Grammar XD. Sorry, but idk.
Permiten is wrong because it's followed by a verb. If the sentence didn't have the verb "tomar" then it could be: "No se permiten fotos"
But in this case it does have a verb, so the correct way is: "No se permite tomar fotos"
As a spanish speaker though, I can tell you that most people don't really follow that rule. So it's very likely to hear someone saying it both ways.
Hey guys, could you help with me with my french homework.
Any Korean here??
Or someone who know Korean?
Can you tell what "주야래" means?
You could just search it up, lol. (I know GT is not a accurate, but someone could verify it)
hey, if anyone here speaks Japanese, can you explain when to use kunai and when to use janai
It looks like there are 3 answers that you need: the impact on the family, society, and the country.
I would assume that the impacts on society and the country are similar: There will be lots of waste furniture that they buy.
The impact on the family is that they spend a lot of money.
Also, are Mrs Hajar and Mrs Jahajr different people?
i think is a typo. is the same person hahha
Haha okay, in that case then hopefully my answer will help
yes, thankyou sm!
👍
you mean with the adjective?
い形容詞→くない
な形容詞→じゃない
Could anybody help me with deciphering a spanish text for me please?
It is about the footballer Karim Benzema, and the specific text in question is:
"... las claves de su regreso al combinado galo y su gran momento de forma con el Real Madrid."
What does "combinado galo" translate to in English?
the key to his return to the French national team and his great form with Real Madrid
this is what deepl gives me
@orchid hearth that's what I did and I came here cause It didn't seem accurate
So no not what you were looking for but in my experience it is a pretty good translating engine
do you mind if i dm you?
So combinado galo would mean french team or french national team if I understood it correctly
If I'm not mistaken, combinado means mixed and galo are french people, this in the context of football or soccer means that is a team of french people of different ages (like a team with players from 2002 and 2003)
Interesting, I thought that 'French national team' was 'la selección francesa'
Sure
Again i am not a Spanish speaker so I hope I am not just adding confusion, just saw your question and it didn't seem like anyone was answering. Good luck tho!
That is okay thank you for helping!
Oh that does make a bit of sense I suppose
I have found the phrase used in another context:
"Lemar (Atlético de Madrid), Mendy y Varane (Real Madrid), son los otros jugadores de LaLiga presentes en la lista del combinado galo."
Which suites your second definition perfectly!
It's like @nimble tinsel said, it's like the frech selection
"Lemar, Mendy and Varane are the other La Liga players present in the list from the 'combinado galo' "
Players from different teams that are put into one team "El Diccionario define así “combinado” en su segunda acepción: “Equipo formado por jugadores procedentes de varios clubes”. Y ciertamente en la selección se mezclan futbolistas de distintos clubes, por lo que no se puede decir que quienes usan “combinado” se aparten de la definición académica." It's from this article https://as.com/opinion/2018/06/24/portada/1529794620_735215.html
Álex Grijelmo nos cuenta que la selección española recibe a veces en los diarios y en las narraciones el nombre de "el combinado nacional
I'm sorry for the confusion!! That should be the good definition
So 'combinado' would mean "Team made up of players from various clubs"
Wonderful thank you both very much @nimble tinsel @hollow wing
No prob!!
Good luck learning1
you got the help you wanted? if not I could be of some help

Watch tv shows and anime in english with english subtitles
- read and write in english too, in a journal or something; the more you practice the better
Maybe you should watch videos without subtitles and write what video say
i would advise to talk (even to yourself) every day in english to become more fluent in the sentence forming and the prononciation as well

does anybody have any tips to start learning french?
depends on how long you've had it
I think its the same as learning for spanish, just really try to read the theory in the book to understand it. but most importantly pay alot of attention to your teacher when they give grammar explanations. Thats where alot of people go bad
ok so
i reccomend starting with basic words and grammar, as in he she it us the that done i am you are how are you goodmorning etc etc
^^but in french
At 19:00 UTC
I recommend starting with the free course on language transfer. It teaches how to think in french which I think is the most important thing.

any germans?
Oh hey
i am learning german too. It's pretty similar as my mother language in many things
but i can't remember the vocabs xd
i am german 👀
Sameee
@karmic haven @flat garnet Hello, since you are german do u have any advice on what is the most important to learn in german? Cause i have been studying it for quite a while now but im somewhat lost in what i should focus. Thank you
Are you at an intermediate level?
Maester Luwin said: “Bran, the children of the forest have been gone for thousands of years.”
^is the punctuation correcT?
Looks good to me.
I have to make an english essay, can someone help me correcting it?
pls tell me where to fix it😭😭😭
Well i dnt know but i dnt think so cause i only study on my own and even though i feel like i have already learned some vocabulary I probably cant say im an intermediate yet
What is very important are the articles: Der, Die, Das. Mastering these is the first step to get fluent. But also the tenses. German is known for its many tenses, but you don't have to know them all. The most used are: Present(Gegenwart), Perfect(Perfekt), Past Perfect(Plusquamperfekt) and Future(Futur). The past tense is like never used in german conversations.
Vielen danke!
Can anybody help me in learning Korean language ???
Nah
XD
What
Everybody in this server communicates with English
Maybe you meant that you are searching for an English native speaker xD
Sorry but what's your pfp supposed to be? It looks so weird XD, is it a cat?
hey! there are some korean learning resources in the pinned messages. good luck!!
Just saw the message: I recommend the following Youtubers: Steve Kaufmann, Matt vs Japan, (Steven Krashen). And the Website Ajatt.com (but only the table of Contents, the rest of the Website is pretty unnecessary). I learn french too and let's just say that the Ajatt method did it for me in every way. If there are any Ajatters here, cheers!
What exactly is the ajatt method?
To pur it real short: You basically become a person of that language you wanna learn. So in my case: Im not german anymore, Im french. And I just do french stuff everyday. I avoid german like the plague. Thats the method itself(, but I do that method a bit watered down tbh). There´s a big philosophy behind it. (Going along with french) The focus is listening and reading (consuming in general) as much as possible.
But for more info: Just visit the website, it´s like a big encyclopedia, it´s really good imo
gotcha
Good technique @woven cradle
Antimoon has some great ideas about language study as well, particularly about seeking correction and working on avoiding bad habits from the start.
Did pretty bad for a first draft of my essay does anyone wanna help look over the feedback n give me some pointers?
I think the Antimoon method was one of the inspirations for Ajatt, I think it´s also on the table of Contents.
Yeah it might have been. The approach is a bit different though, I think, between the two.
I think Antimoon has a stronger focus on accuracy, perhaps.
AJATT always seemed more to me about getting people immersed and keeping them motivated. Antimoon seemed more like a couple of guys had done really well with their studies and wanted to share how they did it (whether you're motivated is up to you).
They're both resources worth checking out, for sure.
I didn’t know about these methods, I’ll check them out. Thank you @somber walrus @woven cradle also @inner fjord and @cedar kettle for asking
sure
difference between get on with sth and stick to sth? :/
I get on with my work, [Meaning i will work again after a break]; I stick to my work, [I work only to my work and nothing else]; {Not native speaker but i think this could help}
Can someone help me please
I don't know if I have to use "another" or "an other" in the sentence : "I'd like to know what it's like to live on another/an other planet"
I would understand it as the following, another meaning a second or a third; and an other meaning i have to choose between one and the other. So i would say it depends on what you want to say.
I'd like to know what it's like to live on another planted -> I could switch the planet if i want to.
I'd like to know what it's like to live on an other planet -> I want to know how it is to live on Mars and can not get back
{Not a Native Speaker}
While I believe an other would technically grammatically be correct it would be an old way of saying it Thus I would suggest using another, that sounds more natural
Also if the choice would be between other or another the correct answer would be another because you use another with Singular nouns and other with uncountable and plural nouns e.i. ...live on other planets
Also I am not a native speaker but this is what I found after searching
ok thanks you so much @wary sapphire and @nimble tinsel for your help, it really helped me ^^
Np, you're welcome!
No problem, I am glad to help you
heyy guyys

Any advices how to start with French? I have been learning german in school for 8 years now, and want to add another one. With french i could speak not only in europe, but also in some countries in Africa and in Canada. So it has more potential than german imho. I tried Duolingo and it's super boring / repetitive. Maybe buy some books?
Why French and not any other language?
There's ample resources on YouTube many of which are either native French speakers or are expats living in France/Paris. I'd start there. You can pick up a lot about general culture and language through those channels and how they learnt French beyond a classroom setting.
Do you know what type of learner you are?
well i want some european language, was considering Italian, Spanish and French. Now Italian is beautiful, but useless. Spanish has a lot of use. But between Spanish and French i like French more 😄
what do u mean
Ooooooooooh well yeah! I suppose French would be more useful in general anyway as there are more speakers of French globally than there are Italian. I mean do you learn best through textbook, immersion, watching/listening (like TV), etc etc?
watching / listening is best i think, but i need some basics first. I can watch german videos on youtube after 8 years of studying it and i barely understand them xD

Hey guys
Which one is correct and why pls
B
So it is had since it is in the past tense. Since it is in the past tense it can not be: (A) had be since be is in the present of future.
(C) had being is wrong since being is a person, : you are a human being
(D) had is wrong since it is missing the be form
(B) is the correct answer since both are in the past tense
If anyone has anything to add please do, I am not a native speaker
I got it !! Thanks a lot
Oh no I don’t got it😭 why not D
Why should we use the be form
Or I didn’t get it**
Someone else has to explain it better then, since I can't really tell you why it isn't D
Sorry
Thank u anyway ❤️
You are very welcome!

You can learn Korean/ Japanese easier if you already had studied Japanese/ Korean because both countries use Chinese letters.
I think the grammar systems are also quite similar between these two languages. English sentences are like S + V + O (e.g. I studied English) but Korean/ Japanese are like S + O + V (e.g. I English studied).
Plus, because both languages based on the Chinese letter system, sometimes you can hear similar pronunciation between both languages. (I brought a funny video to prove it)
The difference is that Japanese writes intact Chinese letters, but Korean usually doesn't, so you don't need to learn Chinese letter unless you're gonna be a lawyer, prosecution, or Korean medicine doctor in Korea.

TTMIK (Talk to me in Korean) It’s a website that has a curriculum for Korean. They also have a YouTube channel

Hello, i was looking for advice on how to study and not only how but also what are the important things to study in german. If u have any tip i would appreciate it. Thanks!
the doubt i have is how can i say "redação" in english, like "essay, composition" idk the right
Composition is right
if you meant like writing
Essay may be closer to the meaning
it's like a text for you to express your opinion, give testes, etc, understand?
Oh so, is it for like an argumentative writing?
aaaah so in English, we usually label it as "Argumentative" or "Persuasive" writing
if you're focused on proving your points and showing proofs to support your opinion/facts
like, when will there be a test at school about an argumentative text
oh so, basically is argumentative writing?
If Im understanding what you're asking, yeah
you'll have to write one if the question asks you to choose between what side is right or what side is better
i think that's right, thanks :))
ah sorry @chilly juniper but, do you know something 'bout a proof called IELTS?
Hey! I've been told that it's easier than the TOEFL exam, that's all I know
ahhh, thanks for information

What info do you need? I could ask someone

If lawstudent didnt respond, I assume this is what you need to know about IELTS: https://www.ieltsjacky.com/ielts-task-2.html
I've never had to go through this nor did I have to TOEFL exam so if I'm wrong, you can ignore the link lol
Studying French, having trouble pinning down "arête", can anyone explain this word?
Arête = fish bone (idk if there is a english word for that)
Arrête = Stop
Right, I guess the context confused me, the sentence read "mon visage carré aux arêtes franches"
Square face with "sharp edges"--so the word has multiple meanings, many French words are that way which always confuses me haha
Oh ya indeed in this case it means net and sharp facial features/ jaw edge
Ya I totally realised it each time i'm trying to explain french, stay brave x')
Hiii, does anyone know any discord group for Chinese(mandarin) learners? :)
Oh and any useful resources such as websites/ cartoons/ books lmao basically anything for Chinese?
If anyone if interested in practising French (B1-B2) we can probably work together! DMs open 🙂
Anyone who can help me with GRE English vocabulary ??
If it's not ilegal, I would like to recomend the discord server cave of linguists, it's a server to learn and talk to people in any lenguage, it has sections for each lenguage and you can search for conversation partners to practice whatever your are learning, also they have some writing events (at least in english and spanish)
Do u have the link?, please
I'll share it in private, I think it's not legal to share invitiations to other discords
Thank u!
Can you please share it to me as well? Thank you :)
can you please send it to me too please?
Hey! Can u send me?
Hi guys! Looking for recommendations for short poems. 🙂 Thanks!
Hello 🙂
I am not sure if you would say in this context (see the foto) "cientos de litros de agua" (that's what a friend is saying) or "cientos litros de agua" (this is what I think sounds better) Is there maybe somebody who is from a spanish speaking country and could tell me what you would say?
your friend is right, you are wrong
thanks for the quick respond 👍🏼
Could you send it to me too, please

at the end of the training course, each participant was presented with a ..... of completion
A diploma
B certificate
C qualification
D degree
help me pls
B @hard cedar
mmhh i can't sorry. Just immerse in the language and you'll get it.
Can you help me?
A diploma is for a degree or a course but is just a peace of paper (I´m not totally sure if it's like taht), qualification is uncountable so it can't go with "a" and degree doesn't collocate with "of completion" it would have to go with "on... (something)" . If there is something that isn't clear I can explain it in another way, just let me know
hm?
can u teach them?
can i have a small break?
take a long one no prob lol
