You'll become familiar with the concept of independent events, or that one event in no way affects what happens in the second event. Keep in mind, too, that the sum of the probabilities of all the possible events should equal 1.

hi, i need help doing a question, its permutations and combinations. An urn contains twenty chips, numbered 1 through 20. Two are drawn simultaneously. The number of ways that the numbers on the two chips will differ by more than 2 (i.e. |chip1 - chip2| > 2) is -

i know the question is similar, and i did 20C2 as well and i got 190, although i cannot figure out how they got 153 as the number of ways in which the number on the 2 chips will differ by 2 to be 153.

This may be a weird question, but i genuinely need some input, i've been working on this for way too long and nothing is making sense.

For an investigation in school, i chose optimization of packaging material. there are loads of investigations that are out there, that optimize packaging material of simple 3D shapes like cuboids, cylinders and cones. However, i wanted to go a step further and graph containers to obtain a piecewise function, use the surface area formula to calculate the surface area of solids of revolution.

Because this is optimization, i won't find a "value" for the surface area, rather a function, where i find the optimal value of x that will minimize the surface area and maximize the volume (which is fixed). therefore, equate the first derivative to the surface area function to 0, calculate the optimal value of x, and then, to determine whether its a minima or maxima, use the second derivative

my question is- does this make sense? because ive done some calculations and literally nothing is working

hihi, i can shed some light, so initially you wanna plug in h for 0 to see what happens. you'll get 0/0, which is an indeterminate case. you can use l'hopitals rule which allows you to take the derivative of the numerator and denominator with respect to h, and then evaluate it at h=0. you should get -1/x^2

x1 - 2x2 <= 0 ???

pastel geode

1/2x as x goes to infinitely small would be 1/a super large number which in the limiting case is just 0. e^2x when x goes to negative infinity would be 1/e^super large power which is also 0, so the entire thing simplifies to 2/4 which is 1/2. Zeytek is also correct 👍 👍

stone raft

well it has been a long time so i might be kind of rusty but i am happy to try to help

formal forge
stone raft
#

if you know the angle

#

then

#

you can simply do sin(35.91) = 1.15/x

#

and then you can find the hypotenuse

#

which is x

formal forge
#

dont u have to do

#

pythagorean theorem?

stone raft
#

yes thats also a possible application here

#

but since the topic is supposedly trig? you can use trigonometry to find as well

#

😄

formal forge
#

it said i got it wrong

#

lol

stone raft
#

?

#

which one

formal forge
#

the hyp

#

cause the angle is

#

39

stone raft
#

are you sure the angle is right

formal forge
#

its 39

stone raft
#

let me check that one

#

ok yes the angle is 39 degrees

#

can you tell me what you put

#

in as your answer

formal forge
#

39/1.15

#

33.91

stone raft
#

ok hold on that would not be right

#

do you know sine

#

?

#

ok

#

so

#

because the angle is 39

#

right

#

and the sine of 39 degrees would be opposite side over hypotenuse

#

so do you know how sine is defined

#

?

#

ok

#

so from your sohcahtoa

#

definition

#

sine would be opposite / hypotenuse

#

soh

#

like the equation would be

#

1.15/x=sin(39)

#

because 1.15 is the opposite side

#

x is hyp

#

and sin(39) is by definition 1.15/x

#

well

#

cos

#

would be

#

sohcahtoa

#

so adjacent over hypotenuse

#

so cos(39) would have to be equal to the adjacent side

#

which is 1.42

#

/ x

#

1.42/x=cos(39)

For the following exercises, find functions f (x) and g(x) so the given function can be expressed as h(x) = f (g(x)).
h(x) = 4/(x + 2)2
h(x) = 4 + x(1/3)
h(x) = (1/(2x - 3))(1/3)

Its really asking you to break the h(x) function into 2 parts, for example. Imagine h(x)=4x²+4x+1. You could think about breaking it into g(x) = 2x and f(x) = (x+1)², since when you plug 2x into f(x) you'll get 4x²+4x+1. Now you have to think the same kind of stuff but for the function provided by the question

helloo o/ i have a quadratic function and all the info i'm given is that it has a point that intersects with the x-Axis at (-2,0) with the tangent line y=9x+18, and another point at (8,-10) with the tangent line y=-11x+78. How am i supposed to use this to find the derivative of the function?
