thanks
i know D flip flop but how that sequence output Im unable to simulate it on Ltspice
this is goood
yea lmaoo
Ight gl Bro I'm on to next sess bye
btw 11th class 1st chap?
I'm revising
ohh which class btw? @humble lance
Anyone have advice on how to study better for exams? I have always struggled retaining information.
I tend to write dozens of pages of notes, yet my exam grades are rarely over 85%
Im still working on it
this is like 1/20th of the part completed lmao
see if it could help
I normally use a mental palace, it helps a lot
mental palace? @coarse charm
though I have practiced for some time so I think it's more effective now than ever
a place in your mind where you can store information
normally with the power of association
so, to associate something with an image or something?
you can associate information with a place, like, using your kitchen knives to store the capitals of countries
oh, never heard of this
using outdoors to remember your market list
it's almost infinite
you have to practice though
it gets kinda hard, but it is worth it imo
does not sound like it is easy to master
i will research, sounds interesting
cause my method rn isnt working
I think it is, yes
but I mean, I have fun doing it
because it makes my brain productive asf
and I'm doing other things with it
like creating 3d spaces and simulations in my head
though it's a hard process
but fun anyways
bro idunno if my brain is powerful enough for that
we all have the power, fren
just have to get to that point huh
I mean you can do whatever you want with it, I like to experiment with it because it will help in my field in the future (drawing)
so you can use a 2d space, simply
like a 2d top to bottom vision of your house
and store things there
or another really familiar place
and connect things there with the things you want to remember
i genuinely do not understand
cause if i wanted to associate things with objects i wouldnt remember
example: birthdays
I know 10 exact birthday dates of my friends
I associate things about them with the numbers of their birthdays
don't you know whee your knives are? the kitchen ones
sure, yes
or the place you normally in the fridge where you store your eggs
that's the first step
so, i create a mental map ?
yes
i see
open this place whenever you can and every time you see the place/object, you will associate with the information
for example, my friend Felipe
he has a crown that I associated the day, 25. 25 rubies in his crown
there are 3 on the front part, they are very green (green is because he really likes cathulhu)
3/25
3 is the month
25 is the day
nah it's ok
I stored this on "paintings" in my palace
and now I have mental paintings of my friends in strange poses/situations to remember their birthdays, kek
you can do it fren
thanku, i appreciate u explaining
can someone whose good at maths please help me
#math-help I guess
Someone want to learn chinese here? need a partner
Mandarin?
guys i need serious help (please help me ) i want to help the world to become a better place and help the humans to become better i want to leave a mark in this world before i die i want someone like me to help each other through this journey everything is disappointing for me the people around me my family all is the wrong with me or with them ?
well, i get what you are going through, but hear me out, for the past 2 years i have learnt so many lessons about dissapointment, pessimism, and if there’s one thing i want to do to restart that would be to stop feeling powerless and negative. Take a word by a stranger, we all want the world to be a better place, so let’s start by smiling a bit more, be positive, let’s have faith, have hope in small things (they always say baby steps u know). So my answer is, nothing is wrong with you, or, with your family. It’s just the pile of work and the flow of life is kinda rough right now. There’s gonna be ups and downs, my friend
thank you alot ❤️ u r right
guys real question my parents never rlly taught me anything abt personal finance what’s considered a “decent” FICO credit score?
i found this chart that sums it up pretty well
hmm appreciate it
ill do some more research into it
its strange turning 18 and having to take personal responsibility of my finances
i feel you. i turned 18 earlier this year and im only just starting to learn about everything its so confusing ahahaha
i wish theyd taught me more in high school like i appreciate learning taylor series and integrals but how do i file a w-2 statement 😭
I feel that 😭. I live alone and its not going well in terms of personal finances 💀😂.
Does anyone have any helpful tips?
like im so busy it makes me so impulsive when buying. I want to pay more attention to where i put my money.
i try to find coupons on everything, i don't order food i try to make my own meals unless the delivery service is giving me coupons and i know i can save, for meals i generally just do rice and seasoned chicken (u can find tysons chicken in the frozen aisle at most chain supermarkets for 9.99 or cheaper ive seen 7.99), rice is self explanatory and for seasoning i just do lemon and pepper so that gets me through the eating portion of personal finances
in terms of wifi i split it with my roommates we have an unlimited plan, phone bill i'm on my slowest data plan but i rarely leave the house unless its for work so i'm almost always using wifi on the phone, subscription services i split with my roommates too (spotify, netflix)
Such a simple tip but so useful 😭 thanks
My mom pays for my phone bill sometimes so im kinda okay with that. Wifi too.
and i made a rulebook for myself on stuff i wouldnt buy so 1. designer clothes 2. no big name brands 3. if u can find the same thing without the logo on it for cheaper buy that 4. 1 pair for formal shoes, 1 pair of tennis/running shoes and 1 pair for everyday shoes that ive been wearing for 2 years 💀
theres so many places where you just see money go out the window so i really try to save where i can
This is a good idea
and ill invest around 30% of my paycheck every month into my roth ira and my investment account
its really small steps but im hoping it pays off in the future
yeaa aha crypto profits from the start of the year are keeping my rent payments afloat for the next few years
Thats really good!
im mostly trying to build my portfolio and make sure i'll have enough to pay the short term capital gains tax
short term financial gains are taxed sooo highly in the us
I think its worse in Canada 😭
but not for students so im okay for now
but my brother is a software engineer and he literally gets taxed like 50%
taxes in general make me want to barf
hate how we get taxed the most while the richest people in the world have gotten away with paying nothing in taxes some years
Ok then u guys haven’t visited india yet
Facts
Whats it like?
i've visited new delhi before but thats it
I still dont how the tax system in here
Like the govt changed 5 years back they introduced gst earlier we used have around a lot of diff taxes
oh wow
U guys still in schools or college?

What is pcm😂
Ok 😂
Idk how it works outside but here it does 😂
Which subject did u opt in school?
Pcm-physics chem maths
I'm applying to college right now i had to work last year to support family because of covid
Oh i see
Hope all goes good for u jad
yea same!
Is SAT difficult??
but im hopefully planning on studying quantitative economics
ur doing good. Its hard times.
thanks yall ❤️
its not a test of intelligence its more a test of how well you prepared and how lucky you get with the questions they give you
so really practice and repetition are your best friends for that exam
Okk
@outer sundial r u in university?
Not rn i am preparing for my entrance
ah i see good luck
Yea i really need that 😂
U will be fine. I mean im not sure what the sats r like but im sure u will be okay 😂
Canada 🇨🇦
Good choice 😂
I am thinking of coming to Canada
😂😂😂
Yea i think i will after my exam
But my parents are quite afraid here cuz of my habits and behaviour so still in the process
Like study habits? Or like in general?
Like they think i will get into drugs kinda
Yeaah srslyyyy I haven’t even thought abt that but after listening to them i might
True
I haven’t even drank ever
😂😂
I mean if u do or u dont it’s whatever.
Weeds legal here 😂
Trueeee😂👌
Why not?
I don’t really care to. Neither do my friends honestly.
Woow great 👍🏻
😂 thanks
Ok need to go ttyl
Last question 😂 but do u work? Or have like side hustles? Other than investing?
yeah aha im a host at a restaurant at night and i invest during the day
hi guys can you recommend app to iphone which track how much time i spent to study/work/sleep/... daily?
Stopwatch (and then write down the readings on a journal or sth),
And for sleep specifically, see the time before sleeping, note it down, and after waking up, note the time again..
Stopwatch (and then write down the readings on a journal or sth),
And for sleep specifically, see the time before sleeping, note it down, and after waking up, note the time again..
@rare island
thank you, I do, but I want it to be keep in one place and output graphics and look better than excel
Ohh, sorry idk about that..
But there must be some sort of app for that
Ig they're called management apps or sth
how do i study without getting distracted?
When u feel sleepy drink water,,you can eat snacks if u like
Try changing study methods,if u r doing sums and now u r feeling distracted then try reading theories.most importantly keep the phone away
You can do it!!✌🏻
Guyz thing is, i literally take too long to finish a chap and even after im done, i hardly retain anything i just studied
Any advice?
try feyman's tecnique pretend to explain someone and use a paper it helps me make stupid stories to retain a lot of words that are inter-connected
also i need your help i have this school project in which i am supposed to conduct a survey so would you guys mind filling it https://forms.gle/qowjyvTjKz2kzb6C9
Yes but i still take too long
No matter what i do
what are you studying? because i would suggest not to focus on time, it actually makes it harder (in my opinion) to retain informations. To retains infos i would recommand you read and focus on understanding the matter first and then separating different parts of the chapter and make little notes
Im giving this exam that's equivalent to the gcse's In the uk.
I see
i had to look up what was the gcse lol, for science related courses try and find passed years subjects
is it only multiple choice questions?
Switch off your mobile phone
Go into a silent room
Motivate yourself
See James scholz and think if he can study around 10-12 hours daily without getting distracted then why can't you
Take a small pocket diary and write your tasks that you have decide to do for the particular day and don't sleep or move your task, cuz you will have a lot of backlog and stuff in the end , which will pressurise you
If you can't go for long sitting hours then you can just divide your time
Like if you want to study for 6 hours then you can divide it as 3 hrs in the morning and 3 hrs in the evening or 2 hrs time period
And ya one more whenever you are getting distracted think about your goal , think about why are you studying and control your desired as much as you can
And at the end reward yourself after you have finished the tasks
This what I do to study well with concentration
thank you so much!
thank you very much!
Anytime 😁
Hello... if someone wants to join a study session, feel free to join https://hours.zone/invite/dCZhxWqpw. it's really productive
hiya, does anyone have some tips as to what kinds of things we can do like some paid internships or projects(online) and how to find opportunities?
At the end of the day, Book 1/10th of the time u spent on studies today and revise all that u studied during the day
Use Flowcharts
Make flowchart of each topic and revise them daily after 2nd or 4th revision it would take just 10mins for whole chap even ngl
Make small Flowchart of the whole chapter once u r done then revise them weekly, Repeat for the year
Can you expand on that?
Flowchart will actually help u to connect previous topics to the upcoming ones so u gonna retain for sure, Good luck!
Nope
I see...
ig asking about opportunities so as they result in better college resume
Cool ill do that tysm!
np
in 11th rn?
10th
Well, here the colleges are required to provide you some sort of a apprenticeship program and as a nifty motivation for companies to hire you for the time your payment is also excluded from taxation. Depending on the thing you want to do, usually a portfolio of projects is a good way to start. @lyric stump
Notes that i used in 10th grade
hope they help
Yeah I mean like if we want to do some paid projects, how can we start on that. For example where do we find resources such as websites where we can go job hunting and also like if you’re a first year student what kinds of things you can do in your summer break
My college will provide an apprenticeship program at the end of third year
OH! Dude! TYSmm -
What kind of work you're looking for if I may ask? IT? Design?
I’m doing engineering so we’ve been taugh softwares for 3D modelling such as solidworks, then python, arduino chips, data handling and analysis and a lot of chemistry and maths. Basic first year knowledge
So I’m wondering if i want an internship or just a project what can i do
np
btw the retaining problem is in sst?
cuz i had the same prblm too
Well, I would say look for short positions as data analytic. As I understand it (second year of software engineering) in the IT field, experience is the key for actual job you want to do, so don't be extremely picky about the job market at the moment.
Not sure if you can get into freelance with your current skills but perhaps they need 3d artists and modellers somewhere for short term
Try to ask your profs about possible jobs that use the things they taught you, perhaps they can have a few connections to link you up, then scan the market for something
And as an advice from myself, if the job looks a bit too high for your current skills, apply anyway, in my experience those descriptions are usually inflated and if need be you can pick up a specific technology in a week max
@young umbra well i made flowcharts for civics and eco u can make like these for every chap u study also after a week i could revise this whole pdf in around 30mins so uk more revision gradually take less time
i had the same retaining prblm but flowchart trick solved all revise em daily Good luck!!
Woah I see, thank you so much for your advice❤️I’ll definitely look into all you’ve said
No problem! Second year of software engineering so I can really relate to what you wrote :)
Ah I see! I’ll be going into second year in September so wanted to do something productive till then
Don't wait for the proffs to teach you everything you need to know, it's better to have some goal ahead of time, have a general idea of what interests you in particular and try to see what such a person needs and wants. Here for the first two years of college everything is like "a little bit of everything" so it's hard to go deep into a specific topic if you don't work a bit for yourself on it
You Dutch?
Hey guys I need sm help with HTML
"pls don't judge me ik it's so easy "
do We have to always put the elements of a form in the part defined by <form> </form> ?
if you're working with just HTML forms? yes
if you're using some front end library or framework that handles the data state, then no
No no, i am studying in the UK
I did not think of that😨 Thank you!

Eye opening video, imo
should i study the same subject all day long or switch up subjects in time intervals?
I would say stick to the same one all day
Your brain can get confused with which concepts belong to which subject
Focussing on a single subject also makes it easier to get into the flow state
@young umbra Why do you think schools have you do multiple subjects in a semester?
Because you need a variety of knowledge, and time management is a big part of growing up
You can't just do one subject in a single semester
But there's multiple days in a week
yeah variety makes sense
And schools are not really made for how the brain functions best
They are stuck in the past
Like im thinking of either learning programming first then calculus or both at the same time
its kind of confusing
thank you for the input and help
If you do want to do multiple subjects in a single day, try to get some time between them before switching
So your brain can process what you learnt
❤️
Guys I need help ,can someone share their their sketchy account with me,I want to watch paeds
you what
?
my friend is good at every subject but doesn't have interest in any of it...any advice on how he should decide on his college path
can someone help me program an alphabet soup in c #? :,)
Anyone know how the Discovery Program in NYC works? Because this year I’m taking them online.
He needs drive but mostly he needs to grow up... Part of being a functional adult is doing stuff you don't like
But for his college path I recommend to either really think about what interests him and trying to find a path that matches that, or going for a high quality degree (Something in IT or Engineering) to fall back on until he does find what interests him
please help with this
what do you mean by rate of natural increase how is it different from the general population growth rate
feaking demonic
same
Driver issue maybe
Does any student of medical here who can share sketchys account with me?It'll be a great favour please. ANYBODY HAVING IT CAN TEXT ME

Has anyone written a peer reviewd research paper
It's my first time and i have no idea how to go about it
I feel like i seek validation for my actions, i guess its insecurity, like theres a "right" amount of work I should be doing in the build up to my exam, like if i'm not doing as much as him/her I won't achieve, maybe I don't belong in this discord, it makes me uncomfortable
i don't know if it's any help but i'm sure a lot of people feel the same way
It is quite normal to compare yourself to other people in order to know where you stand. You can use this pressure in a positive way to improve yourself in your own way. But you shouldn't judge yourself. You can't beat everyone and doing as much as everyone. But you can put more work in it than yourself from yesterday
@verbal rune
._. thankyou
Good evening everyone, I'm having a hard time getting down to work.
At first it was fine, but by dint of associating negative emotions (anger, frustration ...) I am "afraid" to revise, and I therefore procrastinate.
I am already more than a month to postpone it, but just seeing the file of my classes makes me feel bad.
I think I lost confidence in my ability to work and I think I just found out that it was just the "fear of failure", the fear of trying and then giving up again, I think I did. 'Self-sabotages in a way by procrastinating because I know it takes effort and I don't have confidence in my ability to keep the effort going for the long haul.
I would like to have your opinion and your advice on this please guys.
Sorry if it's poorly written, I used google translate.
Thank you for your answers in advance
I hope I wrote this in the right(or good?) channel too lol
Best advice, is to get started
Download telegram and search it m pretty sure ull find all stsuff for free
Do anything you can. Five minutes of work is better than no minutes of work
Often the hardest part is starting. The longer you wait, the bigger that mountain becomes. But you can never climb it unless you start. So try to do at least 5 minutes of work every day. You'll see that once you get started, you will be more comfortable tackling the rest of the work
It's a psychological trick where your brain will think "I already started, might as well do some more work"
And if you don't do more than 5 minutes of work, at least you gave it a shot
Today I got there.
But I was interrupted, and eventually I slumped over my phone and didn't touch it again. At one point, I hovered my mouse over the review folder, then felt uncomfortable, and didn't click ...
Man, I know that feeling
It's scary when you feel like you can't win anyway
But you'll fail for sure if you don't do anything
And we both know you'll feel better having at least tried than not at all
Yeah you're right
Tonight I will try to get back to it even if I don't have much time.
Besides that I'm reading Carol Dweck's book on the growth mindset, I think it can help me a lot.
Anyway thank you very much for your messages
You're welcome!
Taak a look at a concept called "Locus of Control"
It helped me get my shit together a lot
Thanks !
❤️
Anybody wants to do a 1 hr study session rn
@carmine chasm yeah all the stuff was available there but it got removed because of some copyright issue
hey guys, whats the best way to practice for an english conversation (for an interview) by myself?
if u know what kind of questions or topics to expect, id say prepare some answers or have some things in the back of your mind to fall back on
Anyone else struggle maintaining a set schedule for yourself when your mental health gets in your way? Makes me feel powerless in my own actions.
Yes! Especially when you where on a good tangent and suddenly you can not do it anymore. When I feel like my schedule is too much for me to handle at the moment I actively decide to take half or the entire day off, this way you feel in control of your well-being. (for stress sophrology might help)
so I've been doing about 8/9 hours average per day in the last week and a half. i've been feeling a little fatigued tho... i do get the 7/8 hours of sleep every night. will I get burned out even with full nights of sleep? i feel hella shitty taking a break
It might be burn out, especially if you drastically increased your work hours. So you should not feel guilty if you decrease the number of worked hours and take breathers so you can feel more energized. It also helps to exercise and have a hobby, they help you destress and take your mind off things
if your having fun doing it i don't think so, but if you feel shit after it, you will.
thanks you 🙂
well...to be fair I am not hating it. idk what's wrong with me. very abnormal. but yh thanks got it
goodluckkk
This is great advice imo. Scheduling free time makes you productive even though you're taking time off. Scheduling free time is not the same as procrastinating, even though a lot of people think it is
In President Truman speech, what language techniques does he use in : 'We thank god that it has come to us, instead of to our enemies, and we pray that he may guide us so we may use it in his ways and for his purposes'. I know its some biblical or religious thing but idk what its called
help
Guys, how can I study for knowledge and self-mastery instead of studying for grades. I want to shift my mindset to literally not care about my grades or anything.
Hey guys, is it appropriate here to post a link for the survey that i made for my own project and stuff? If i needed to collect some data for the analysis.
try to build interest in subjects
An example How i build interest :
like i had a chapter in chemistry in which i studied how the charge on an electron was calculated "it was found out by an experiment named Millikan Oil drop experiment performed by robert millikan and harvey fletcher Later on Millikan got a noble for the same" this was written in my textbook but the thing is when i researched what were the contributions given by both i found out mainly Harvey fletcher did the experiment and not millikan but only millikan got noble y tho? lmao so i searched about it and FOund an newspaper article from June 1982 which kinda described the situation which happened and later on wiki i found out the secret deal that happened b/w the 2 hahahhaha
ask a peep they will let uk and pls do tell me about it too i also need to do the same lmao
im scared of pinging peep cause its written in rules that i can only do it "if there's an emergency"
oh haha then u can dm them they do reply
Reality is that while studying for a subject you're not interested in... all you will care about is the grade
But you can make the studying more intrinsically motivated by thinking about your desired future and what your degree will do to make that a reality
For me it helps to think that no matter if I do something with my degree or not, I will know that that piece of paper shows I have a certain level of intelligence and critical thinking
So it will help me in the future nonetheless
It also helps to make knowledge gathering your goal... Like with other important parts of your life (i.e. health and finances) diversification is the key to success
Once you find subjects that truly interest you, you can go deep and master it
grades are a good way to motivate urself
@candid zenith @grand ember yeah yall can send surveys
thaaaank you
thx
I Always try but I have a french exam soon called the baccalauréat and I need to memorize like 14 texts it is so draining to just memorize stuff you won't ever use again
hmmm....in this case u need to memorize stuff just for a test tbh making flascards and cramming would be more preferrable imo rather than building interest lmao
with apps like anki?
You can record yourself saying the words and translations and just put that in repeat
In what sense? Do you need to memorize it?
u know the laptop james has on his desk on top of some books with the arrow pointing at it saying discord..? is he in a study room in the discord when he sreams? if yes in which one
Hi guys, I'm trying to focus more in school and tbh I don't really take notes that much and when I do they're messy and unorganized and I don't retain much knowledge from them. Is there any tips you guys can give me for efficient note taking?
I'm really trying to pick up my studying and I feel like notes is probably a good place to start fixing
The best way i've found to take notes is to rewrite the notes in your own words the same day as you had the class. You will still have most of the information in your head so you can make the notes look good and also study the material right away
As you take notes more often, you become more and more efficient
Maybe take a day to develop a system for yourself
Ah I see Thank you very much
one of my main problems with note taking is just how slow I am at it
Make a list of symbols you will use a lot
I just feel left behind in classes when I take notes
This will improve with time
everyone is different. what I might find effective you may not. and at the start it's about fail and error. put the time and work in and you'll find what works best for you. they don't have to be perfect and neat and all that - as long as you understand them and u didn't just copy stuff down you should be good. also there are specifications that tell you exactly what you should know for the exam. most times some textbooks have extra info and such. make sure you covered everything that's on the spec and then you can build on it. start from inwards towards the outwards if that makes sense with the middle as the testable information you will see in the exam most likely. what I do is also practice exam papers with the markschemes and whne i get stuff wrong repeatedly add that specific line of answer into my notes (the markchemes in my exams are oddly specific). make sure u consolidate them too. it's really about showing up and getting them done in order to best understand the leaning technique for you. it will become more efficient and less of a struggle to go about it
Never try to 1:1 write what the teacher is showing since it will slow you down and keep you from actively listening
Do your classes use powerpoint slides?
Yes
My teacher posts them every morning
should I make notes from the class and then from the slide?
Then I recommend not really focusing on what is on the slides (for the note taking in class), but rather writing down what the teacher says as much in your own words and maybe writing down the slide numbers next to the text
What the teacher says you can't really listen to again, but you can always look back at the slides
In general theres two rules to every class:
- The teacher is always right
- If that's not the case, refer to rule 1
True true
Meaning, the teacher will talk about what's most important
I see
I try to summarize as much as I can in the form of lists, and then rewrite it into a coherent story after class
So making a list like
- This
- And this
- And like this
And then write it in sentences when I get home like I do now.
But really, practice makes perfect
❤️
Take an hour or so to create a bit of a system
Use different symbols for differents types of information
If you want, I can send a pic of my notes later
If you remind me in an hour or so
Either is good!
Alright sweet man
This how it starts out, the notes I take during class
This is what I make of it at home
I hope that helps! @atomic thorn
No explain what the author wanted to say with each sentence. I will have the text in front of me when doing the test
@atomic thorn In addition to what was said before, it helps to read the slides or the course material before, to get a general idea. I find it helps with note taking during class, since the information is not so new, and you're not overwhelmed
I see that makes sense
most of the time I don't really get much material before classes in online school as there's no textbooks
But thank you though it'll help when I return to in person
you can always talk to your professors and request additional material, or at least say something along the lines of this idea
Yeah true, I'll do that. Thank you!
@young umbra Yooo
I managed to revise.
It was at work lol, there was nothing to do so I was like "Why don't you get my phone out and try to study? I have absolutely nothing to lose" then I learned my whole lesson on my cell phone.
Ditto last night, following your advice I revised 5 minutes on my bed (I feel motivated when I sleep, because usually I know that I'm not going to do anything so I feel myself growing wings, except that there I did something, it's quite weird actually)
My dude, that's awesome!
Congrats 😊
Dont try to make em good and beautiful atlast u hv to read them also more time should be emphasized on learning rather than noting
i must say u a legend Mr WatPatat the amount of good advice I have seen you give in this discord is awesome
I see we have a Peaky Blinder among us. I won't fuck with you then
@atomic thorn i take notes w/ just pencil and i write the imp info w/ black pen so i could revise black pen headings in the last min try this might help u out
😊 thank you, I really appreciate that!
I have messed up a lot, and don't want others to make the same mistakes
oh this discord is lucky to have you. we appreciate it man
emphasize on learning do atleast 3 revisions of notes of previous lecture b4 attending nxt and make em dirty nobody cares atlast u only hv to read them 😌
u need to learn translation of each sentence?
where to find low fi ambience music?
Check out #useful-links
Otherwise youtube
serch on yt
ty
Yeah kind-of like: Metaphors, the meaning of the sentence, what the author wants to say, etc
But the real question is, is it patat or friet
Thank you!!
Should I place more of an emphasis on main concepts and leave out little details or do both have their place in my notebook?
Come onnnn... What kind of question is this?
It's obviously Patat
Friet is too sophisticated
Fair enough lol
Late to the party but the thing that helped me recall information is using an audio recorder app for the lectures. I'll do my best to take notes and then go over my notes again later while listening to the recording in case I missed anything. Its been a life saver.
Ahhh thanks that's a really good Idea! I'll try that out but with OBS or something for online classes.
What i did for my french test was that i used to write the English translation of every sentence on the top of each french sentence and i managed to understand what 40-60% of the words mean cuz of same type of adjectives/verbs r used in many sentences so they start to make sense after sometime (i didnt knew bout anki at that time)
But with Anki i would say write the french sentence on one side of card and write the english translation on the other side
@maiden lintel if u hv less time like a 2-3 days or so then this one is better imo but if u hv a lot of time like 3-4 weeks then go for anki
if u gotta score max possible marks then u gotta cover maximum possible RELEVANT info lol
yea so cover each and every RELEVANT detail and if ur notes seem too long to review after then make another short notes covering all the important concepts
Like from a particular concept u got 4-5 questions in last 3 years question papers then its a main/important concept give more time to it and do add them in ur short notes
also try attempting more questions cuz testing is even more imp than learning ngl
Prevent recording lectures if u do procrastinate easily cuz i tried recording lectures and i hv never reviewed them afterwards lmao if u wnna record and u r a windows user then press (Windows+G) on ur keyboard during class and record
anyone good at data structures and algorithm?
specially in tress and graphs
No I think you don't understand it is a national french exam in France. There is no translations or stuff like that
so its like a french exam in which u need to write answers in french too?
it's like he is French and it is his native language
just like we in Romania also have the bacalaureat and we solve it in our language
Unless you have the exact words or meanings provided beforehand for each sentence, I doubt you can use flashcards to study for literature. It is best to understand concepts. I don't know the rules for this topic, but for example, for lines 10-13 you can write about the emphasis the author poses on the feelings of the character, asking rethorical questions about love, trying to find meaning in the actions of his love interest
ohh gotcha thx
oh hello there fellow Romanian! sper ca ai o zi bunaaa
Yeah exactly you explained it better than me
are you studying for the oral presentation or the writing part>?
because when i passed the bac I had previously written a card per text (and i had about 20) you should focus on the writters and the era they wrote in
know what type of style it is (like naturalisme, surréalisme,...)
hey, i really am in a bad place. i didn't studied quite well this year and the past, i know one thing or other about some subjects, and somehow passes until now. i want to study everything and put myself back in place so i can focus and give my best to try and do better, i feel really bad about what i did (i'm the first year of high school), i might fail some subjects this semester (i'm from brazil so we can go to recuperation), how can i learn most of the content that i lost?
hey! i would recommend focusing on not failing first, even if that means memorizing a lot. after that, you can use your vacation and weekends to go back and study the content you lost. if your school allows it, ask your teachers if you can go to recuperation and recover grades, or even do some projects and essays. more over, i am also from brazil, and i am in my first year of high school as well. at least in my school, we review all the content we learned on past years during our years of high school (as preparation for enem), so even if i forgot something, i will be learning it again. check if your school does that too, and if it does, then dont worry a lot, youre gonna see it all again. if it doesnt, use your vacation and weekends to learn the lost content.
yes, i'm studying to the next essays i will have (and nice to see we have another brazilian, haha), i have some tomorrow and i will try my best, i know most of the content
but i don't have much time to learn that much
so i can't organize it quite well
i need to study portuguese, literature, math and physics, but the time is too short, how can i organize this much content?
Need life advice brother, soon i will have new laptop and i want to learn new skill seriously so i can get good job, i will learn english and mandarin language but i need other skill to learn as well such as coding, but i dont what language should i learn for coding
is it a lot of content? how much time do you have?
you can start with any language really. i started with c++ because i found a great video class for it, but you can try python and see if you like it
I hear people say python more easier than c++ but i want to challenge my self and dedicate on it, do u think its possible to learn c++ first?
portuguese i know everything (just need to revise, i have until this friday), literature i couldn't quite get it (i only know the theory part, i'm afraid of having to relate subjects, also until friday), math i know 50% (until next Wednesday) and physics i know nothing (also next Wednesday)
i think i will have time, but struggle to believe in myself ):
totally possible! w3schools is a great website that has a bunch of tutorials on it, and you can look for some youtube videos as well. i also use a site for practicing, thehuxley. it has a bunch of exercises on c++ and some other languages
well, you have a lot of time lol. focus on portuguese and literature first, solve some exercises on both. after you studied them, go to math and physics, look at the theory and go over exercises again. even if you dont believe in yourself, make a run for it, i am sure you will be able to do it. make a to-do list to track your progress and focus on topics you suck at. btw, only read what will be on your exams, and if you have time, go over past exams of the subjects
oh, yes, thank you. but how do i even start pshysic...? that's my major problem
do you know what will be on the exam? like, the modules or pages?
yes, i know which are the subjects, but in physics i have to study since the base
and i missed the base
also, on literature, i have some parts that i don't get it, and is nowhere to be found what i can do with the information, i already talked to my teacher, but i can't help myself from worrying
well, you have a lot of time for physics, so you may want to watch some videos on the subjects (even the basics) and take notes of the formulas. you can put all formulas and basics on a post-it note (if you want i can send you a photo of how i did it), and solve as much exercises as possible. exercises will save your life, the theory is not enough alone. on literature, try searching info online, you may find exercises, videos and you can even expand your knowledge there
oral version where I need to learn 14 texts
you can also ask friends about the parts you didnt get. dont be stuck to your textbook
any physics geek in the house?
yes, please, i would really appreciate if u could send me the photo
need help with Quantum mechanics problemsI posted on #science-help
ehr... my friends are worse than me in most of these subjects
but that calms me down, thank you!
i would really like to receive the photo so i can have some notion of how to do it
wait let me see if i can send it to your dms (i couldnt)
i have them all over my wall so i can look at it every time i need to
thank you so much! : )
i have them for chemistry, math and physics. it doesnt take long to write them too :)
if it's not a problem, could i ask if you know literature? i would really like some help in that part
i mean, what are you studying in literature?
can i dm you? i don't know how to write this in english
Or should i stick with html, css, javascript because i have little basic about it 🤔
i am not sure lol. which one do you like more?
serious question but how do people pay attention to lectures? I can't help but zone out no matter how much i try (maybe because I have adhd). But does anyone have any tips. Does background music help?
Add me as your friend kohi, i would like to ask more at dm
Help me solving this problems. Can any onr help me solving it and explaining it line by line
you can ask me now, my dm is open

HELP!!!!!!!
i can't dooooo this naymoreeeeee
how do i focus when my mind doesn't want to?! any tipssss
Take a break, consider pomodoro method
it has nothing to do with my phone or whatever. a wall is anough to keep me away from any form of concentration
Go outside, take a walk or something
okay yes that sounds like a good enough idea. cheers
Good luck!
heyy, i'm 16 years old and i started studying pytho, but idk which way should i go, if anyone could give me some advice i would appreciate it. I'm thinking about, back, data science, AI and Software engineer, I'm very lost 😄
it's really hard but if it's pre recorded i would suggest watching it 20minutes by 20minutes and doing small breaks in between, for live lectures if you can try to participate as much as possible and if not question everything that is being said (it challenges your brain and make you retain information faster)
These r really good tips! I will try this thanks
hey guys i just kinda had a general question. i prefer handwriting and not typing. the problem with this is that my hand hurts a lot, and i would like to hear what you guys do if you have the same problem. i know taking a break should help, but sometimes i'm kinda tight on time so taking a break isn't feasible and, with that logic, massages aren't too feasible either. what do you guys advise? thanks in advance.
Do you write with a ballpoint pen?
In high school I switched over to an old fountain pen I found, with fountain pens you glide over the paper and don't have to press or squeeze your hand to keep the grip tight - Worked wonders for me. No more hand cramps and could write a lot
For writing speed though it might come recommended to consider electronic writing as it is much faster, and then format your notes clearly with manual writing on paper - Reinforces the notes you have and might help you make better notes/new connections when you think over how you want to write them
Yes, I write with a ballpoint pen.
To get the ink and everything just seems a bit weird to me.
also ig it could leak
and i spill everything lol
but thanks for the advice.
do any of you wear pain relief patches when writing? a friend of mine does that but idk how i feel about it
just seems costly to wear one every single day and keep buying them
also what do you guys think of the carpal tunnel wrist braces? do they do anything for you?
You have cartridges, you don't need to get a bottle of ink
It's just plug it in and it works!
okay I've had a shit study day... if anyone wants to share their iNsPiRaTIoNAL quotes please feel free to do so. a little broken (overly dramatic) soul would appreciate it rn :))
Okay, I don't have a quote for you, just a few words. I think you shouldn't overdo yourself and learn to appreciate such failures too. These bad days when you cannot concentrate very well are the ones that are important. Every step is necessary and most of all you are not a robot. Get rest and heal and the next day you go on. I wouldn't put too much pressure on myself to learn perfectly. Distractions are normal and common. But maybe meditation can help you.
Thank you 🙆♀️ yeah… after hanging outside for a bit my head is much more clear.. I suppose I did push through a bad day… yes thank you so much for the affirmations ❤️
what's the best and fastest way to learn vocabulary? got a test tomorrow
We've all been there! It's normal. If you want to stay in the same ballpark as calculus, but get a bit more daily applicable knowledge... I suggest going for business economics
Or you could challenge yourself even more and go for something you think you will have a hard time with. You'd be surprised how much you're capable of
i'd go for drawing. It's not easy though
by drawing you can also train your photographic memory (if you're into that type of stuff)
there's plenty of youtube videos on where/how to start. Most of them teach you basic geometry and how to apply it in your drawings (making the drawing as abstract as possible with shapes and working with them) and there's also videos on how to train on your own. Also reading manga/comics really helps as well and studying the authors' drawing skills and implementing that into your drawings
🙏
Hello I am new to the discord channel and I was wondering if anyone could give any advice about being disciplined and finding purpose

why my room smells (im a dude if that needed)
Do you have dirty clothes laying around, when was the last time you changed your bedsheets, do you have dishes laying about, is the trash can emptied, when was the last time you vacuumed? All those things can cause your room to smell.
Time for a spring cleaning!
idk how i feel about it still. but thanks.
Oh, and open the windows to let some fresh air in after all this, too!
I do have dirty clothes, I haven't change bed sheet since spirn g I believe. The trahs not empty, last timed vacumme maybe begin of this month. OR maybe my room not smell, it just got a scent to it. Yeh that's it just a scent of well grown man.
Anyone got problem like to a certain time in a day you don't feel like studying at all. Like for me around 8pm. When my class finish and parents home just wanna chill urghhhh. Maybe also I got ahead of school work a bit loll
hii does anyone know hoe to use after effects for free? its really expensive here in my country.
Perhaps consider lightworks?
It's a free alternative
Hi. How do you guys find the motivation and will to go for a morning run or just working out everyday ? Thank you 😕
Incorporating it as part of your routine, also starting off slow, not jumping to 7 days 2x per day immediately. Just build it up and try to enjoy being outside or doing something active. Doing it with a partner helps with accountability as well, and picking a sport that interests you has tremendous benefits for you actually showing up
I'm writing a bachelor thesis and got a comment on this sentence:
As such, this thesis can restrict itself to pure strategies.
the comment was
Please, rephrase the last sentence. The thesis is not a creature, so it cannot restrict itself. Either use passive tense or say that you restricted it.
Can someone explain what passive tense is here?
"The thesis is restricted to pure strategies"?
I am not a native english speaker so I looked it up with this source
https://www.perfect-english-grammar.com/passive.html
Looks like the sentence I am responding to is correct
Perhaps "this" instead of "the" though, like the first setnecne, since you are referring to the thesis the reader is reading,
okay, thank you
The most direct way to rephrase your sentence would be "as such, this thesis can be restricted to pure strategies", but yours is also using passive tense and is correct
hello
…Darkness my old friend
so um... I guess James ain't going live... sad times
i was looking for a boost or something
Motivation must come from within my friend! Maybe watch an old stream if you're struggling
I'm going to have my college entrance exam next week! I'm kinda nervous. Only 10% of the applicants will be admitted. Do you have any tips on how or what will I review? I'm going to take the electrical engineering course 😬
Note to self: Don’t use the pomodoro method when you’re reading a book. You’ll get focused on the timer than reading. Focus on the book, and finish at your own pace when you’re reading. You don’t need a timer for that.
A intellectual someone said to other, " natalie, people on internet are gonna call you lot of names but coward is not gonna be one of them." It stuck with me. People I know have a formed opinion of me and i dont want inauthentic to be one of them.
Authentic as in i do what i say i will, if it goes against my morals i dont do it
great advice! if you want to set a minimum for reading, I recommend setting an amount of pages as a goal
My reading "pomodoro" sessions are 10 - 25 pages
My reading pomodoro session is falling asleep lmao, some days it takes me 20 pages and some days 3 hahahah
help I'm in test.
I have to mark the correct option:
What parts of the atom come together in a chemical bond?
protons
electrons
neutrons
although im not in chemistry i would say electrons
Hahah that's nice
Wish I could fall asleep while reading
lights off, a kindle and being completely exhausted its all you need
I will mark that option and let it be what it has to be
a simple thank you would have been enough
If the answer is ok I appreciate it, but in advance thanks in case I forget
yeah that's fine, thank you very much men
I need some help regarding me not being motivated to study (sorry if this channel isn't for this kind of problems). Ever since I started classes this year, I've found myself not studying for any exam. I eliminated all distractions, I tried some methods but I always find myself doing anything else but studying and then I end up paying the price (bad notes, no motivation, etc) all my friends get their ass to study the whole day if necessary but I simply can't and I would love to be able to do that for me, my family and my future. Is there anyone who felt this way? How did you overcome it? Thanks in advance!
Anyone here play soccer ?
Can you share some soccer clips you may have ?
It’s for a project
Also if you don’t mind me sharing them
It doesn’t matter if they’re good or bad
As long as they’re soccer related
(Football ⚽️)
I’m on the same boat
Some time, I’m filling this way.(do you speak French, this way It would be easier for me to explain it to you in a different chat , if not I will overcome my difficulties to express myself in English)😂💪💪💪
Sorry, I'm not french.. Paris is just my artist name 😅
but im happy to know you guys feel me
So to overcome it in my perspective, firstly you have to clean your desk and the room like that you won’t be distracted, secondly use the best chair you have ( don’t be in your bed or in a sofa), thirdly take off every think that gives you time ( in this way, you will not be stress) , and finally tell yourself that you won’t do anything else without finishing your task. Don’t forget to make pauses( sleep, read ....) habitually when I’m working I’m feeling better than when I’m chilling , it’ just super hard to push ourselves into studying . ☺️☺️( and also you can motivate yourself with your own work, what I mean is that you can put every task that you have done visible.
Like putting your exercise done in front of you you will have the sensation of satisfaction
And sorry for my bad English please correct my mistakes( like that I will improve)😁
I really appreciate your help, I'll definitely try this method you recommended me. Really thankful ❤️
your english's pretty good, some minor grammar errors but I had no problem understanding what you were saying, keep it up 💪

Anybody know how to find the issue number of an article in link springer?
It happens exactly the same
i am going to print this
Can someone help me with my practical work in English I am from Latin America and I do not understand anything, I can give accounts of disney plus, origin, hbo, chunchiroll as a reward
Sup?
Don't need any rewards, but willing to help
Will go to bed soon, though

Anyone here uses Anki?
anyone that has done the SAT yet and gotten a really good score, could you share ur study plan w me via dms, it would be really helpful for me and my studying ! 🙃😁
I do, what's up
These video lectures, are they by your teachers?
Then I would recommend those
Since it's the material your teachers find important
In my opinion that would be most time efficient
Good luck!

what's the sequence of nitrogenous bases in the mRNA formed from the previous dna segment?
anyone here who's studying marketing? im struggling
How effective is it in the long term? Like for an exam next year... Can it be used to replace notes? I'm uncertain if I should be making notes as well as flashcards, apart from practicing, of course.
It works great but it doesn't replace notes
But it's a great tool to remember specific terms or concepts (You can input pictures as well for example)
So work with both, and use it to practice recall. Recalling something strengthens the memory and makes it easier for your brain to use
Word of advice though, be honest with the cards, there's spaced repetition and if you get it wrong don't click the "right" button because you'll just shoot yourself in the foot
Okay. Thanks a lot!!! I watched a couple of videos saying ditch the notes.
Great that I got a first hand advice though. Will work with both now.
Noted
Got it. Got no competition in learning. Will be practicing memorization honestly
Re-organizing notes are great for finding new links between concepts so I would definetly recommend still taking notes!
hey guys i'm new here nice to meet everyone here :))
i just need a help that recently due to covid my finals got cancelled and after that i took a break from studying well but i somehow lost all my motivation to study further for my college entrance exams and i need to start studying soon
can anyone help me or suggest me how can i gather some motivation now....
thank you soo much in advance :))
feel free dm me 🙂
Set small goals. Do 30 min sessions maybe do sessions with music. Small targets like i will only study 2 hrs today. Once in rhythm then go strong
Go on pinterest and make a vision board! I made 5 year vision board and every-time I feel like slacking I keep adding to it 🙂
Do you like dark academia?
i'll definitely try this
okay i should give it a try
Oh and try a change of scenery! Many places up here are opening up now like the local library and coffee shops. I love working in coffee shops as cheezy as that sounds.
I like both light and dark academia 🙂
I was cleaning up my PC a bit and I found a note I wrote about a couple of helpful youtube videos.
Hope this helps someone
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8SehiX7Bjc - ELASTIC HABITS - By making it easier to start a habit, by having different levels of difficulty, you make it easier to create the habit in the first place. It’s better do a little every day than only doing well every now and then. The lowest difficulty needs to be something you can do every day, no matter how long or bad that day was. Even when doing the lowest difficulty, you’re still making progress. Succes is a game of inches.
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VNmIxkyHd8 - BIG ROCKS FIRST - By filling your day with tasks that aren’t important, you can’t spend that time and energy on those tasks that really matter. It’s important to identify your most important task and work on that one first. For a student that would be studying for an exam or homework. After completing this single most important task, you can start to work on the second most important task. And then work on lesser and lesser important tasks. This is basically Eat That Frog!, so it’s also important to focus on that singular task until finishing it.
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ckj33-567g0 - TWO ROADS - This is basically an anecdote on how your choices have consequences. There are two versions of yourself, the ideal and the worst version. Every decision you make takes you closer to either one of those versions of yourself. Eating some chocolate everyday is only 300 kcal per day, but in a year that could add up to 10kg.
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZhoeSaPF-k - LOCUS OF CONTROL - ‘’This is the degree to which you believe you have control over your life.’’ There are two types of Locus, external and internal. With an external locus of control, you believe that factors outside of your control are what make you do well or not. With an internal locus of control, you believe that you are the one that controls how well you do in life.
Thanks Wat! Great links
Umm.. a person who is like the topper of the class (sorry I am a bit bad at English)
No problem
Studying habits are personal, but I guess it all starts with smart planning and doing work every day instead of just the week before exams for example
Many small rocks make a big hill and takes a lot less effort than creating a hill with only big rocks, if that makes sense
Also focusing on things you find hard instead of things you find easy engages your brain more and helps speed the learning process along
So do what's hard everyday and revise it ?
Not only do what's hard
And concentrate on other subjects too
Let's say you take a maths course
And you find addition (1 + 1) incredibly easy
But you find exponentation (8 to the power of 2) hard
Then optimally you should spend more time on the exponentation calculations than on the addition ones
To optimize even more you should switch up the exponentation with a little of addition and some algebra for example, by not repeating 1 thing your brain gets some time off to process
Hmm so spend time on what's hard and give less time on what you know
Yes
And be sure to take breaks, the connections in your brain are made when you rest
Pomodoro timers come highly recommended (https://pomofocus.io/) is a great tool to help you study
There's also a lot of books in the #book-recommendations channel which can help optimize and explain the studying process, books like "Atomic Habits", "A mind for numbers", and "Make it stick" for example can help provide insight in the world of studying
So read these books they are really helpful, use pomodoros, follow a time table, give some breaks, spend time on what's hard more than what you know and sleep
Yep
What works for someone else might not necessarily work for you, try to explore what works for you and you'll be golden
I tried some but eventually ended up getting addicted
Addicted to books?
I used to follow pomodoros but in the breaks I used to play games
And it used to go pretty long
Ah in that sense
Try rewarding yourself with playing a game after you've done studying, and use your breaks for doing things you don't have to focus on so intensely
Taking a walk for example, or getting some food or reading a few pages
Fair enough
Is just one example
Yeah sure
When you take a break for 10 minutes why not listen to the E-book
Because people say traditional is much better
And when you take a big break go for a walk for example
Reading can be nice and relaxing but there's more than 1 way to enjoy books, listening to them is perfectly fine
Oh then I can listen to them because I relax through art or watch yt I can avoid yt and try listening to books
Yes for example, art and youtube are also fine but with youtube especially it's hard to turn it off once the break is over
Try to find something you can turn off and go back to work when you need to
Yes , so pomodoro, listen to e books , time table, breaks like walking or art , spend time on what's hard and less time on what you know and sleep
And can I add revisions?
Yes, if that works for you!
Yes, it's your schedule my friend
Whatever works best for you
Thank you for your advice it will really help me becoming better
No problem, best of luck!
Thank you
Hello, what channel would be the best for python help?
thanks!, i just posted my problem in that channel

Guys anyone have like chemistry books that teach every thing about chemistry from zero ?
12/20 done , lets gooo!
chemistry for dummies, it has a few parts though
Good enough cause my school dont teach chemistry so im trying to learn it more on my own
do you have a pdf of this books?
I get that a lot about what I say
Everything? Interesting. I never understood Organic in my entire life
Help, how i can sleep early guys?
Hi Kev!
That depends on a lot of factors
But mostly it's about good sleep habits
Ooo had the same problem. Um I forced myself to wake up at a fixed time for a couple of days (at this point it takes a lot of effort) and because i was so tired it was easier for me to fall asleep earlier than usual. Also making the room dark and lowering the temperature can help. You’ll have to try a couple of times. The app ‘Alarm’ James uses also helps some I heard (not me personally)
This is a way to do it, but it tanks your productivity and critical thinking for days maybe even weeks
Good for you Sir
Science recommends shifting your bedtime not more than 15 minutes in either direction when you want to work towards a new bedtime/wake up time
Yup true
What are your sleep habits like? What do you do before going to bed? How many hours of sleep do you get in general? Do you have a specific bedtime? Do you stay in bed long after waking up? Do you snooze your alarm?
I sleep at around 2 am
I force sleep at 00.30 and didnt work, i sleep 6-8 hours and usually wake up at 09.00 -10.00 am
Falling asleep is one of those rare activities that the more effort you physically put into it, the harder it will be
Agreed, its easier for me to sleep if i do work out but i dont today :(
Your body has a hard time falling asleep when stressed, because your brain interprets that as being in danger
Feeling annoyed/disappointed because of not falling asleep is considered stress by your brain
Do you feel rested when you wake up?
If less than 7, i feel tired
Another bad habit, sometime i fall asleep around 8 pm then woke up again around 10 after that i cant sleep😂
Hmm
That means that also your quality of sleep is not so great
How old are you?
The easiest way to fix your sleep is consistency
21 today😂😂
But if you want we can go a little deeper and I can maybe help you more
Oh damn, dude. Happy birthday!
Maybe i should try to stay awake for 24 hour so i can sleep faster😂
Thanks!
Definitely don't do that
lack of sleep takes multiple days to recover from
Do you want to take this to the DM's so I can ask some more questions?
Or do you want more basic adivce?
Va bene
you can never recover lost sleep. just a random tip. naps don't pay back what you've lost
thanks a lot for sharing it! I love it!
This. People often say "I'll make it up in the weekend" But the only way to pay back a sleep debt is consistency
nods while drinking coffeee at midnight
There is no such thing as a sleep bank. skipping sleep one night and doubling it the other night is not a thing. Sleep is all about a certain substance that builds up in your body/brain that makes you feel tired, sleeping gets rid of/deals with this substance. And while naps don't "pay back" the sleep you've lost short naps (20-30 mins) can really help you if you need to concentrate; you can better sleep 30 mins and be concentrated for the next 60 - 90 mins then try and concentrate for 120 mins while constantly fighting back sleep and missing stuff.
HAHAHAAH Nice
@somber sierra so 👉 👈 you up for such sessions 90/30
Also, naps are nothing to be ashamed about!!
I often take naps if i went to bed late and am working on school in the afternoon, it makes concentrating so much easier
The book Why We Sleep is a great book to read
It's written also in a way to help you fall asleep
Naps are great, but they need to be short. And the misconception is that you need to sleep during a nap, but this is not the case
You ideally should get up right before you fall asleep
HAha as in forest? 😛
A famous painter used to sit in his chair holding a key with a plate on the floor. When he would fall asleep, the key would fall on the plate and wake him up
That I do not know about, I know that I do sleep with my naps but I am someone that is asleep fast
Yh
Naps are not about sleeping, they are about resting
"painter Salvador Dali was the most innovative. He unpacked his napping technique in his memoir "50 Secrets of Magic Craftsmanship." The Spanish master would sit in a tall-backed chair with a key (preferably a skeleton) in hand, held over an upside-down plate."
90 min learning and naps
Oh, what a life would that be haha
Barbara oakley talked abt that
@dawn forge I can start a 90 mins rn if you want, if that helps you
@somber sierra dude yess
Hmm, I would say that most people still sleep with naps, I personally wouldn't try napping if i woudln't be able to sleep because then a nap for me wouldn't be the kind of rest I need
Will you be up for 2 such sessions?
Depends on the time I go to bed
It's 9PM already for Twan
Ohh yes of course
@young umbra irish?
Don't hurt my feelings
ben niet duits 😂
haha heeerlijk
😛
But this is a English only chat
But we should probably switch to general if we want to talk random stuff 😛
Yea, exams are in about 3 days
The best chance you have of passing is to get enough sleep, so your brain can retain the information
It needs sleep to transform short term memory into long term
But if you really want to, caffeine is your friend
But you will crash hard and you feel extremely tired
Your brain will have a hard time functioning during your exam
Thing is it's a memory based exam, and there's still alot of parts I haven't covered yet
Study as much as you can, but get sleep
And study the most important information before sleep
And make sure you take breaks as well
While you sleep you process and retain the information you have read/studied
I'm in this weird state when I'm working at night and sleeping in the morning
How can I reset my sleep cycle??
You will have to become consistent with a regular sleeping pattern again
But it might be that you're a night owl... Night owls are more productive at night and fall asleep later
Unfortunately the world is not made for night owls
I have a test in 17 days and I have to start using anki again. My current intervals are 15 1440 8640, what should I change them to?
hello!
I had a question about passive to active voice
I have an assignemnt which asks
Im not sure exactly how to change it to be active.
Any ideas? Thanks!
The active version of it would be:
“The teacher always answers the students' questions.”
In an actively voiced sentence, the subject performs an action. In a passively voiced sentence, it’s the opposite; an action is performed by a subject.
I don’t know if this helps, English isn’t really my best subject.
Thank you!
I wrote that
Choose the correct ones now. Won't be a trouble to change
@brittle wind I forgot where I did from😂
Under the Welcome section on the left you can see the roles channel @ivory night
So I’m getting a tad overwhelmed by the content. I am supposed to finish it in a month and I am going as quickly as I can but I really can’t put in more than 9h of revision per day average. So I need to resort to something else. And quickly. I assume I am not the first student faced with this issue in this Discord so um any tips? Or experiences that you want to share on the matter. It’s history so so there is no fixed amount of information you need to know but to write a top level essay you do need to be very well read in the topic assessed
I personally think that learning 9 hours a day is definitely enough and you should be careful not to learn too much and fall into a burnout hole. If you say to yourself that there is no real goal to finish, do as much as you can, but no more. Sleep, rest, movements and relaxation are things that help you learn things as well. Stress and pressure that you impose on yourself tend not to help you. It is better to make a learning concept that you can use as a guide. Try to make a plan in which you can do whatever you want this month. I wish you all success!
ahh yes you are right. i can only do my best after all...thank you. and i'll watch out for those burnouts. thanks 👍
What personally are helping me too is the mindset of peace. You should say to yourself like "okay I'm stressed and i have anxiety about failing (or something else) but that feeling itself is completely normal. Give your stress a hug and say to yourself "its okay to be stressed." Rest a little bit and go on. Don't focus too much of the stress itself because that makes it scarier. When you make peace with the stress and anxiety that can help you too. Accept the feeling but don't let it guide you.
oooo i'll try that too hm thank youuu😁
So if you're at the limit of time able to spend on studying, then it's time to look into ways to make your studying time more efficient
How often do you take breaks, what do you do during breaks?
How do you study?
My dad has been sick for a while so it's getting really hard for me to focus on studies. My exam is on Aug 24 so I can't afford to be too lazy either
My situation is slightly different but those are kind helpful words.
Sorry to hear that... i wish you all luck and the power to come trough this tough situation! keep it up and your future-you will thank you for being strong and for moving on. ✨ @empty oar
does anyone can explain utilitarianism in detailed, reading on internet still confuses me because of their different ideas.
I'm so sad to hear this, just know that it is alright to feel this way, so don't be too hard on yourself! I wish that your father would get better soon. And also, every little bit of work pays off, so good luck!
Thank you, appreciate the kind words!
Ahh I do about 9/10 blocks of 50 minutes per day average. I normally aim for 11 but sometimes I only do like 8. So I do 5 blocks in the morning from 7am to 12 (although I make the last one an hour) and then I have 30 minutes/1 hour break. Depends on how I am feeling. And then I do the rest and take another when I really need to. And during breaks I hand out with the fam or talk to people - I have a rule of not watching yt or anything like that until I finish all the studying. And my studying techniques I would say are pretty good. It took me a while to get to them. So my exam is sometime in october. Probably at the end. So I have more thna a month but I need a month to dedicate solely to essay practice. I need a lot of death. Those are also the moments some content really falls into place because you get to a very analytical point. I guess i need to be asking myself those questions… but um I am out of ideas. I think I need to accept I can’t have the perfect formula to this situation and I just need to keep going. I don’t have all the answers to have things perfectly in order. I am just estimating a lot of things… okay sorry for writing so much. I do feel better after writing this danke
Im glad it helps!😊 You can send messages like this anytime if it helps you process stuff
It sounds to me like you're putting a lot of unneeded pressure on yourself, you seem te be doing great
Something that really helps me with these kinds of feelings is this small sentence:
Do good, not perfect
‘Do good not perfect. ‘ Very wise indeed. Thank you very much. I’ll keep that in mind :))
Hi, I am looking for ways to enhance my productivity. It would be great if you guys contribute your ideas. For now, I am also looking for stationery that enhances ones productivity, like color coded notes making, flashcards etc. Pls comment if you have any suggestions. 🤓 🙂
Thanks for this. I recently came to some flaws in my prep too. For last 50 days, I have managed to study 490+ hrs, with 67 hours of burnout phases. Usually during these burnout phases, all I do is feel overwhelmed of the tasks at hand and beat myself up for not doing more. Imagine 67 hrs of just cribbing. I feel it would be better for my productivity to enjoy the process than be unsatisfied every time. Yet to hack that status of mind.
Your mental health is very important while studying. Just like an injury makes it harder to workout, mental strain makes it harder to learn
You'er human and you have only 24 hours in a day, just like the rest of us. We can't be perfect and striving for it will only set you up for unnecessary stress
500 hours is a LOT, be proud of that
Someone who was a veteran in the exam I am about to take told me, they had to study for nearly 15hrs/100+ hrs a week to get it. It has made an impression on my mind. I have made suffering synonymous to success 😅 Also, I get concerned as I feel as, while I am slowly getting into that many hours of study(I see good change in my performances) I am also losing out on 30+ hrs that any other high performer would be hacking weekly. Imagine the loss! The patience here, comes in handy. But, sometimes the mind just retaliates. I am in a process to make it more fun to do things and enjoy rather than dreading it!😇
Thanks. I will try to make the next 500 more enjoyable! 😀
Never compare yourself with others! Other people might be studying twice as long as you, but retain the same amount as you do. There's so many factors at play.
Me, for example, I have sever ADHD. So I need about 3 - 4 times as much time to study for an exam, but I only need half of the time to finish an assignment
Sometimes it's worth it to suffer for a short while, to really push out every last drop... but this is never a sustainable thing. Your mind is pretty elastic, but it can break
Allow yourself peace of mind and know the world won't end if you don't everything perfect. I wholeheartedly agree with you trying to find more enjoyment in your studying. This is something you do to make your life easier and more eventful, not so you can suffer
I agree, I need that fine balance approach, to get the best out of my mind. I will find sustainable ways which suit me personally, and not be destructive. I wish well for you too brother, thanks for your replies, it made my day better

So question. How do I know if I am burning outtttttt lovely people
I thought I recognise burnouts but I’m not so sure anymoe
Are you taking twice as long to finish your tasks? Trouble focusing for periods you're accustomed to already? Procrastinating? Do you find it harder to retain/recall information while studying?
How long do you sleep btw? Take a look at what you're eating as well. People tend to overlook their diet.
The focus part hell yes. Procrastinating nah. And twice as long yes because of the focusinh. Well maybe not twice as long but longer than usual. As for sleep I aim for 8 each night and nearly every time I get them. Although I’ll admit for a couple of nights I experienced insomnia..? But that was last week. Since then I slept quite well… And i have a healthy diet. Hmm I think those nights might be catching up with me now even if I had some good nights recently. Thank you
Hi guys, let's go study! And HAPPY PRIDE DAY ❤️
Lets study :3
Hİi
FUDGE YEAHHHHHHHHH
