so then I had to grind for 2 months, and so i went all in and learnt all that i could, got into the best shape of my life and just got the most out of the summer break

august began, and i went to the FINAL ROUND of the first company that visited our campus, but got rejected

and somehow it just started a process i HATED, i ended up screwing up the next 2 interviews

in the mean time, my wallet got stolen, my bank account froze so i basically had NO MONEY to spend for a week, my suitcase got stolen and i got REALLY sick

all this in september

you'll definitely speedrun learning the essentials that way, but most people are probably going to give up on linux entirely if that's their first experience

luckily most major distros have very user friendly GUI installers now to get started quickly and VMs can always be thrown up to experiment with stuff like arch and gentoo to really get into the weeds

I disagree, I much more think that gentoo would be a better start! Jokes aside Linux mint is much more ideal to persuade people onto Linux because it’s not as difficult as arch snd it doesn’t baby you nearly as much as Ubuntu. Just my opinion though.

I still think Linux mint is still too close to the mainstream operating systems available. Ubuntu and mint still spoonfeed the person into using the OS like they always have been before, so the person might not even be bothered to learn the core fundamentals and do the dirty work. BUT that doesn’t necessarily mean they should try and do some LFS type shi either, I personally think getting stuck, breaking your system, tryna find out what went wrong is the best way to learn.

If you use linux for any amount of time, the person will use the terminal eventually, ubuntu makes the terminal scary and gives you millions of ways to avoid it, mint doesn't hide the terminal from you. but at the base level (as a linux power user) base debian will always be the best distro and serve the best job for every person
