if you really enjoy the material you're studying or if you have a teacher that makes the content enjoyable you may end up kinda liking the work but it won't feel like you're having fun otherwise.

Making a fun schedule have helped me, there’s to work and time for rest. Rewards yourself after the work brings the temporary motivation you need for the task. But this just works if you decide to do the first step, accomplish the task with discipline. Or just find different places to study or little things that help you and make you enjoy it as other things.

bit late but as a both video and textbook enjoyer perhaps i can help.
think of textbooks as the material of the videos that you like. those videos don't come out of thin air. it's probably a diluted version of a textbook with nice visuals and explanation.
it also means some interesting details might not make it into videos but is present in textbooks.
that's the main reason why i like some textbooks. if you like the subject, you'll probably like the interesting details, history, reasoning, proofs etc. there's sooo many stuff that don't even get mention in the lecture based off the textbook. sometimes there are even great jokes and puns.

id say millennials can do it bec they dont have yt vids back then so they have built their focus by trying to read books despite them not wanting it (bec its the only available resource before). now with the advent of internet, younger generation (us Gen Zs) havent built up that stonk focus unlike millennials do which made it hard for us to read large texts. for me, i have a push pull relationship with reading in general. i noticed that i can read big chunks of texts whenever i restrict my screen time & try to enjoy hard activities (one of them are reading) and then by doing this tru time i somehow learned how to focus (tho whenever i go back to binge watching stuff, its quite hard for me to go back in that focused state. i usually use the ‘opportunity’ of deadline of exams/schoolwork to induce some kind of anxiety to go in this focused flow state. its also sufficed to say that keeping yourself out of distractions during reading is an essential part of this process. it will be weird and upl feel uneasy without your phone for a while but u need to push tru it. trust the process & know that everything will gets better with time. hope this helps! u got this! 💪

Since we are here, I want to present my problem. I am in the fourth year of the College of Engineering (Mechatronics), I only have a year left to graduate. My problem here is that it seems that I will graduate late because of my bad grades (here there is a problem), I studied in every way you might expect (not exaggerating). I tried to study 23 hours a day, I tried to study a smaller number and in an effective way, the problem is that I understand the scientific subject to the extent that I explain to my colleagues and in the end (F), I also asked my smart friends about their methods of study, the matter is literally heavy (you can imagine that I have a year’s work subject in it 50/60 and I failed it at the end ((I will take it again this term:(. )),so I hope someone has a solution to my problem to present it. I am currently suffering to the point that I am thinking of withdrawing from the university

Failed a test, even though I had a fine understanding of the subject we were tested on

It can be many things

1. you need to be studying what the teacher wants and will bring in the exam, and leave learning for another time xd
2. take notes on what the profs point out to be important. the notes should be exclusive to what the prof talks about during the lecs
3. filter info. you don't need to study everything, just take notes and study those. study daily too, the moment the semester starts. everyday when you get back home before you forget what u learned in class.
4. review what you already learned using your notes to minimize review time. you will forget stuff in a matter of days, so review often. if you think you are sure you really know it still days after study, self-test. always self-test, and you will get how you actually perform during tests, and find what you failed at and relearn that. tests also force you to active recall information, which has been proven to work well.
5. if you still forget, then it's time to make flashcards on anki. it needs to be a direct 1 to 1 question and answer. you can also use cloze. anki will aid you in memory, so trust the process.

To be honest, I don't have a particular solution to your problem, but what I can suggest is learning based on Solo's taxonomy and using active recall. I understand that engineering is a difficult subject--that learning and answering problems can be frustrating at times. Your decision to withdraw from university depends on you, but I hope you do well and do your best. Good luck, mate

you know the knowledge is cumulative and if you don't have a decent understanding of the prior knowledge it's more difficult to work with the harder new stuff.
you might want to get to basics again if it's needed maybe it'll flip a switch or two and help with current problems

take a piece of paper and write what you know like you're explaining it to someone who doesn't know
then pretend to be that someone and ask questions, poke holes in your logic
then reiterate and edit what you wrote, adding onto it
im sure that, even tho you think you know, you don't know know xD you know?
this is called the Feyman technique, and you can look it up to learn more about it

other people have already given ways to help so i just wanna remind you to not be so hard on yourself. it must be demotivating asf when you've tried so many things and yet still manage to score terribly :sadcat: hugs and cookies 4u. if the tips youve received dont help, maybe you can talk to a therapist about it and see if you have a learning disability? because very often we dont realise we have one till much later in life. all in all, pls be kind to yourself and i wish you the best of luck <3
