Thank youu!! >_<
Of course!! Which did you want an update on btw haha. “Flush”, “The Waves”, or “The Metamorphosis of Apuleius”
on any tbh because i really want to start reading books xx
Mind for numbers by Barbara Oakley is a great book about studying. It's mainly focused on science, but the advice can be useful in a lot of fields.
Can anyone recommend me a book? Something non-fiction. I have Atomic habits and Deep work on my dad's Kindle so I'll be borrowing it later. If there is something for doctors I'd like that too but doesn't have to be.
Plus I have a book credit on my audible
Anyone can recommend me psychology books? But that these were not empty words, but statistics and research data.
selam
Hi
hey
Can someone recommend me books on english literature most likely short poems with deep meaning?
Frankenstein is actually a very nice/existential/emotional book
if you want you can read Edgar Allan Poe's books they are very interesting (the fall of the house of Usher) I really recommend this one 🙂
The Waves by Virginia Woolf gets pretty poetic as well
For classic poetry, I would say Blake, Sylvia Plath and the one and only Coleridge (so deep he was known to be on drugs to write hehe)
Hey can you recommend me computer science books for beginners
Hey could someone recommend me a good non fiction book (i like things like psychology, self-improvement and nutrition but it doesn't have to be about those things since i like trying new things)? it'd be nice if the book isn't too long since i already have to read 3 books for different classes 🙂
The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron. I haven't read it myself but I do have the audiobook and I hear it's really good with helping you find your inner drive to feel complete in the things that you do
!rank
ill try that then! sry for awnsering so late i was kinda focused lmao
Oh no worries at all haha 💗
heyy does anyone have recommendations on like books about world politics, economy and climate change? i'm looking to widen my knowledge about these topics
There are so many books to choose from but a few that stick out for me are "The Uninhabitable Earth" by David Wallace-Wells, "The Story of More" by Hope Jahren, and "The Sixth: Extinction" by Elizabeth Kolbert
^ and those are just for climate change haha
for politics I haven't been able to read it yet but I hear that "Why Nations Fail" by Daron Acemoglu and James Robinson is good
omgg thankyou so much, i'll definitely read one of these next
@ashen nest The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma
.
And, also The Alchemist by Paulo Choelo
Of course!! No problemo 💗

highly recommended, it's a very interesting book
also 100 years of solitude by Gabriel García Márquez
I'm not too sure if any of you would be interested but some of you may like The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck. It's part of a trilogy, that's the first book. Haven't read the second and third yet, but adored the first, so if you're interested you could give it a try(?)
the power of your subconscious mind by dr. joseph murphy is a good one!
has anyone read "Surely you're joking, Mr Feynman!" by any chance?
Think with full brain
Inner engineering
The power of subconscious mind
The power of now

Alex's adventures in numberland by Alex Bellos is a fantastic book for anyone interested in mathematics.
o, I'll add it to my list,I think it will be interesting to read
I found it to be super useful and fun at the same time.
Tell me what you thought about it if you do read it.
okkok
ooh neat
Another great math book is a mind for numbers by Barbra Oakley
Yess I also read the Story of More - it’s so informative
I recommended that a few days ago lol
You should read it surely if you liked her other books! It's a bit different since it's not fantasy but it's a very good book!
Does anyone take notes on books? How do you do it?
i mostly make short notes on post-it notes and stick them in the pages. also page marks ,different colours for different emotions or themes or quotes .
Oh lol. It’s a really great book though
Have anyone read the "No man is an Island" by jhon donne? I'm thinking to start english poems by it
just in case anyone wanted to know, the rights on 1984 by George Orwell have expired in Canada, that means you can read it online for free. heres a link: https://www.gutenberg.ca/ebooks/orwellg-nineteeneightyfour/orwellg-nineteeneightyfour-00-h.html
It depends on why you are taking notes and what genre it is . I can give you tips from there !
Nonfiction, I want to be able to reference what I read without having to go trhrough the actual book.
Has anyone read "Who Moved My Cheese" By: Spencer Johnson ( If not it is a great book with a great message about change , adapting to change and how change isn't always bad)
Here are some tips ( If you have any questions or need more tips lmk :]) :
1.) Use post it notes and write key details , vocab and the overall summary of the section or chapter. ( you can also do this wherever you see fit not just after every chapter)
2.) Highlight Important vocab and it's definition (use the same color for vocab if you plan to highlight other info)
3.) Color-code your tabs to correspond to favorite quotes, dialogue that makes you laugh, scenes that make you cry, important info, things that relate to one another etc.
4.)Create a Key and use symbols. Use symbols for favorite quotes (underline), favorite passages (asterisks), confusing passages (question mark), funny dialogue (smiley face), etc. ( you can use whatever symbols for whatever you need to remember those were just examples lol)
5.) Write in the margins! ( or add side notes online) If you resonate with the text , write about it on the side.
Thank you
Interesting. I saw someone else using Notion for that too. I don’t like the app much myself, but I might give it another try.
No problem , I added some other tips to the message lol but if you need more just lmk haha
I love the book "Who Moved My Cheese" by Spencer Johnson
I like the book "Don't Sweat the small stuff and It's all small stuff " By: Richard Carlson
The 6 minute diary ( is kinda a book but is more a diary that helps with self-improvement and happiness) is something I have been incorporating daily.

hey guys! i've been wanting to read philosophy for the longest time but it's such a diverse subject, any recommendations about where to begin?
That's a very broad subject haha, are there any specific topics you would be more interested in?
if anyone likes pretty little liars, the book one of us is lying is sooo good
You could perhaps start with an introduction to the history of philosophy if you are not sure which topics or field you're interested to.
ah yes, will do, thank you!
Yesss one of us is lying is literally my favorite book!!
I loved that one too!
One of the best ways to find books is through a goodreads account they give you book suggestions based off of what you have read
I haven’t read the books but i have seen everywhere it’s called Surrounded by psychopaths
The book*
if anyones read 'a clockwork orange', is it a hard read?
it is not hard to read a little bit irritant but it is very hard to watch i think (very very personal opinion)
ah okay thanks
i need to find a text (book, film, short story etc.) to study and compare with seamus heaney's poetry for my english course
the topic is 'world of upheaval' so basically the composer's context and the subject matter of the text has to be influenced by tribulations and tragedy
if anyone has any recommendations that i could study in a short amount of time, it'd be really helpful
thanks : )
i see.... Fahrenheit 451 maybe?
it is more distopia i guess but.. you can take a look
it has a movie too
mm yeah that is a good one, ive dabbled around with it before, so maybe i should revisit the novel

Can anyone recommend any good philosophy books? I have an interest
what kind of topics are you interested in?
Im fairly new but i study western philosophy in school and wanted to go more in depth, particularly ethical thought and meta ethics if that helps :/
oh neat! i took a course on ethics in college. all of the readings were from western philosophy, fyi. We read a bunch of essays out of "Ethical Theory: An Anthology" edited by Russ Shafer-Landau. That has selections from a bunch of classic works (by JS Mill, Kant, Aristotle, etc.), plus a lot of modern essays. I'm no expert but I think that would be a great place to start & branch out from!
looks like its around $30 used on Amazon for the latest edition.
Selamm
how intresting. I really want to study ethic in collage but in my country there are no such department
I will try to read this book but im not sure if my english is that good

Hey I'd like to get into nutrition. I already know a few things by watching documentaries and Youtube but I'd be cool to have a short book to get to know the basics
I second this! I've happened upon books that either go in too much detail or too little, I'd love to get my hands on something that works for a beginner...
🔥🔥

Guys can someone here tell me how can I get into book reading while managing my studies as I have lots of syllabus to study. Any help would be highly appreciated.
tbh it was quiet hard for me to manage that as well. I'd try to start by reading 1 page a day and if you got that for a period of time you'll read 2 pages, then 3 and so on, it'll become a habit then. It's ok to not read 30min a day 5 min are great too! It's good to not overdo it from the start because if you set yourself an easy target it'll be easier to mentain the behavior you want to accomplish. I made it my habit to read a few pages before I got to sleep. Idk if trying that will help you manage the time problem. (kinda hope i didnt f up with this awnser, english isn't my first language:))
make the time for them
nice book sjsjs
do you want more murakami or other authors?

@gleaming juniper There is an ‘English only chat’ rule. The only chat where you can speak another language is in the ‘non-english’ chat. Not following this rule has resulted in you getting a strike. You currently have 1 strike. When you hit 3 strikes, you will be banned from the server, meaning you will not be able to join anymore.
aha gotcha alright great

if you read the web novel, the pictures that accompany each chapter is so beautifully painted. all the paintings look royal and soft with an abundance of details
Am I the only one thinking that milk and honey is... Boring poetry? 😕 I don't understand the fame of this book, some poems appear as statements or fake deep tweets lmao
Yess I love the drawings too! Did you know that they may do a k-drama for the web novel ?
woahhh web novel? May I have the link 🥲
WHAT??? A DRAMA??? OMGGGG
I don't have the link rn but i think you can find it if you search up Remarried Empress lightnovel/webnovel
Ooooh, I'll check it out later!
Has anyone read Calypso by David Sedaris?
Şarkı söylememden dolayı duvarlara vuran komşular sebebiyetiyle arkaplanı biraz kötü olan kilerde çekmek mecburiyetinde kaldım maalesef iyi seyirler
Just started this, has anyone read this or have some thoughts about it?
I see, thank you!
what are you specifically trying to get advice for? I’ve read a lot. I’ll rec u some based on what u r looking for.
Hi, does anyone know some good books about American history?
uhm I have some recs from my history class: A narrative of a revolutionary soldier by Joseph Plumb Martin, Meet you in hell (it’s about the relationship b/w Andrew Carnegie and Clay Frick during the second industrial rev), I’m currently reading the promised land by Nicholas Lemann (for history).
@coral ruin ^
Thanks. I’ll check them out.
whats it about?
I'm still in the beginning, but apparently a guy came from another planet and then the earth is going to be destroyed etc but it is very cynical and funny too
Guys I recommend you to read make it stick by Peter C. Brown. The book teaches you how to study for anything
np : )
basically just ways to study more efficiently
well one was just recommended above called “Make it stick” by Peter C. Brown. But I would highly rec the ones James listed: Deep work by Cal Newport & Atomic Habits by James Clear. My personal ones (not really study related but more about setting habits for it) The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom By Don Miguel Ruiz, and Into the Magic Shop by James R. Doty
@fiery sinew ^
Has anyone got any recs for criminal documentary kinda books?
ohh mary those sound cool
do you have for criminal documentary films?
plus question are you or anyone else here in Law school?
@low ore
Yeaaa I'm literally soo obsessed wit tisss ....Ive seen BuzzFeed truecrime documentaries ...
I wanna take up criminology tho
lol i feel like buzzfeed's unsolved is where this passion for crimes started for many of us
U bet lol
sherlock holmes?
ayy thanks
It was stephanie soo’s crime stories for me lol
اص
hey guys... i started reading 12 rules for life... is someone reading too?
hi
I'd recommend the crime junkie podcasts (they're really good, but some cases they talk about are still unsolved so it might seem anticlimactic at times) as for books on truecrime idrk any, I usually pick up mystery thrillers, fiction ofc (Agatha Christie's books are good)
.
Aitee I'll check it out thankzz
ohh i read the first few chapters 2 years ago and havent gone back to i t
im probably going to pick up the audio book soon in preparation for " 12 more rules for life
@weary herald
Same
But I'll wait a few months until the price drops

thank you very much

i haven't but i rmb watching a booktuber talking about it
any books that I can read for improving my mental health? a bit in a bad place right now
haven't read anything since january also
my fave was probably, into the magic shop by James R. Doty. It’s about looking into yourself. It teaches you how to nurture and love yourself for who you are despite that faults you have in life. It teaches you how to find comfort inside yourself. @gleaming juniper
I second this! crime junkie podcast is the BEST
Has anyone read The Dark Room by R.K Narayan?
have you seen any of the diagrams from his earlier book Maps of Meaning? they're all completely nonsensical and off the wall
LOL i mean once he started using lobsters....
Does someone know an English book - B2 ? But not a love story pls
Any book recommendation for startup?
whats a softcopy?
If James Joyce was alive today, he would be a discord moderator.
he references this book a bit in his lectures but ive never checked it before
lol how so?
The way he would slide into his beloved’s dms (via letters, obviously) is very mod-like. Let me give you some examples:
"My darling little convent-girl"
"My proud blue-eyed queen"
"My little wild-flower of the hedges"
"My dirty little fuc*bird"
your comparison made me chuckle despite my scarce knowledge of his books. well done 😆 @coral ruin
I’m glad you liked my joke.
By the way, if you are even a little bit interested in reading some of his work, I would urge you to read Dubliners. It’s the best introduction to James Joyce, I believe.
its a lot of stuff like
(this isnt a parody btw)
also i would suggest you have a look at some of his old stuff from a community tv station, a lot of it is him saying incel-y stuff while wearing a trench coat and fedora (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeL-Fn0V8iU for example)
What will happen when women aren't able to find desirable partners, and men are no longer will to play the role of husband and father? Agenda Insight Essayist Jordan Peterson finds the future of gender relations bleak.
(sorry for posting so much stuff about jordan peterson/not about books)
haha it seems wild! I only recently discovered the classes he posted online and so far the content seems really interesting
so although he's very established in academic psychology, most of what he's famous for is this sort of self-help/political/mythological stuff, and because he's not so qualified in that, i'd just be careful about what he says (so on this point, he debated this political philosopher called slavoj zizek. a lot of jordan peterson's worldview revolves around the idea of these "post-modern neo-marxists" who are trying to destroy the west or something, and when his opponent zizek challenged him to name even one he wasn't able to)
Oh sure, the fact that some of his ideas are well thought and interesting doesn't mean that I agree with everything he says (and I don't); i'm always cautious about not having too much external jugement before I have my own
The classes that seemed the most interesting are around personnality, and maybe those concerning biblical reading
He seems like he truly cares, his passion itself seems like its driving people to "fix" their lives according to his advice.
oh yeah fair enough haha, he's made some quite well-known blunders in them like claiming that in some art from around the world of snakes that it's depicting DNA through some sort of ancient mysticism
what he didnt realise was the pictures represent them mating and he just imposed the idea of it being dna because ... ? just because
whaa ok ok haha i need to dig more about this guy hahaha
Does anyone know any good books about slavic mythology?
the electronic version of the book (e-book)
ive heard bordiga's quite good ... but ive also heard gramsci is very good especially with his reading of machiavelli, but then apparently the two are opposed in terms of their positions (although ive read only a little of gramsci and none of bordiga so i cant really say) ... would you say their works are at odds?
If anyone’s into romance novels I recommend the author Caroline fyffe
have you read my lady Jane? I recently read it (was in the mood for a light book lol) it's a breezy read, quite funny and has a lil romance too [but it definitely goes way offtrack from the actual historical aspects]
seemed quite similar to fyffe's style
No I haven’t read it. But thanks for the recommendation
Noted☺️
this books are to build habits, get out of procastination, how to be succesful in short, its to upgrade our selves to our best version

watch his personality lectures, they are so good. the ones from 2017 are better because its full body camera. something about learning psychology naturally makes you feel better/do better.
I've been meaning to read 12 rules for life but I am not a big fan of the biblical stories lol
WTF
did anyone else find the beginning of the book deep work difficult to get past and a lil drab? I've been trying to read past all the tech-centric examples without being able to relate to them, does the writing get more diverse?
omg my feelings exactly! I can't seem to bring myself to enjoy it (i am only at the begining too), the writing style is so dry and quite frankly dull... I too hope it gets better ^^
it doesn't loll
stanford encyclopedia of philosophy is usually very good: https://plato.stanford.edu/ but i dont know about any specific books sorry
Aw thank you anyways tho!
np! so unlike wikipedia i tihnk the articles are usually written by one academic by themselves, so it doesnt suffer from some of the problems of wikipedia
sup guys
I'm new here

does anybody have book recommendations on economics for beginners that isn't too dry? (I've been reading deep work and can't seem to grasp my thoughts around the basic economic terms given, so wanted to learn a lil bit abt that)
It will be better if u could specify whether those economic terms and stuffs is any specific Country based or just general, so that others can understand u buddy
it's mainly US-centric
Oh ok buddy 👍👍

Is 48 laws of power good ? and what are ur personal thoughts about it ?
Has anyone read "Lord of the flies" by William Golding?
I started reading it. It seems cool but I will tell you in the future!
i have !! i read it as a school assignment
That book is a little too grim for my liking xD
i personally didn’t like it but it does make you reflect about society
or the lack of it once stuff starts going wrong xD
Wow thank you! I mean, I'm trying to read it but I really can't get over the first chapter. Does is have a better development going through the pages?
yeah, i have to agree with that
the first chapters aren’t too great but there’s a good development
Do you guys prefer hardcover books or books on lets say something like a kindle or ipad
Kindle books for sure
not as heavy to carry around
hardcovers are a pain to hold
Alright, anything else? I'm just doing a survey for class
Yeah hardcovers are definitely difficult to carry around everyday.
When you read outside like I do, carrying an actual book becomes cumbersome
a light ipad or kindle tablet becomes much more practical
Alright, thanks for the advice/response. I'm thinking about picking up a kindle tablet sometime in the near future.
If you need book recommendation, I got ya xD
reading one a week atm
Nice! Do you have the kindle unlimited?
Never went for Kindle Unlimited actually
i'm not exactly too sure what books you get access to with it
Okay, well. If you could send me a message on a few book recommendations I'll check them out! 🙂
Depends on the kind of genre you like
I read a wide range of book genres
I like self-help books a lot.
Do you read fiction at all?
Although, world war 2 books sound interesting. Um hmm
Realistic fiction
alright, I got you. Let me find some of the books on my goodreads account
Alright, thank you so much Alexis. 😁 I'll be on in an hour. It's time to go exercise for the day.
Kk, I have class soon but i'll tag you with the book recommendations 🙂
Oh! What do you think about the Ads-Supported vs no ads? No ads is more expensive but do you know if the ads are bad?
Get the no ads
ads do be a pain
Okay thanks
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Broken Angels by Gemma Liviero
A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
City of Thieves by David Benioff
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro
The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd
The Moor's Account by Laila Lalami
There you go! This should be plenty enough to keep you busy xD
I gotta say hardcover books, I get too distracted with the ipad and constantly procrastinate 😭
What about meeting in the middle and get paperbacks?
they are often soft and not too heavy
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
it's a book i've heard great things about
You're welcome!
any1 know any ebook in croatian about spss 26? thanks
Although I've only searched in English so it might not be that good in Croatian

I started reading this for my thesis on healthcare inequality
It's actually really good.
It looks at how low income limits your access to healthcare and creates a cycle of poverty. (I'm american but in the UK, even the government funded healthcare here is unequal)
Definitely check it out if you have a chance!
Hey, guys, what is this chat about?
as u can see its a book club
lol I just want to know if you recommend books in here, read together or just show each other what you are reading
yeah we just show each other what we are reading
I dont think there is a translated version of this book into english
What is that? It looks terrifying
This is what I am right now. Just started today 🙂
I recently read Uzumaki by Junji Ito . Has anyone read it?
@winter swift Wayyy to scared to read it xD
mostly because of the gross, uncomfortable imagery 😫
Yeah especially in vol 2. The graphic designs were horrifying and the concept of the comic is very creepy
The reason why I read books is to avoid 'seeing' the images on paper
you couldn't get me to read horror manga xD
No, it's not like that..It talks about the dark internet and the facts that you will find there are some shocking facts, but it is worth reading
i found the translated version of it in amazon store u can buy it from there
😆 That was my first horror manga and I am actually looking forward to read more horror and mystery mangas!
I've got some great recommendations for you if you'd like some
Yes please!
Hi has anyone read claudia gray's firebird series
whats that about?
I've just finished "They both die at the end", 10/10 cried like a baby
did they both die at the end
guess we all die in the end.

Eat as many pizza as you can before that happens
yeah
Our body dies, our soul remains for eternity. :3
Oh wow. I read that book a few months back. Had very high expectations but I didn't cry nor felt any emotion. I am not heartless though lol
i do understand that though, the storyline was a bit predictable, i just cry very easily lol
Hey can you please recommend me some?
Yeah me
yeah i read it a long time ago! its a fun manga
Grit
omg i jj read aristotle and dante and i wanted to read that
love the art but it wasnt scary?
It was not scary, but it was creepy because of the artwork esp in vol 2, that pregnant women scene lol
Who is jimmy? On whose name this group is..
james i think
it was vv cool
James Scholz
Ohkay nice...
Well i am also an avid reader. I even have a bookstagram page, so will try to post here regularly!!
I'm reading it. It seems pretty useless to be honest
@leaden marlin
hii readersss
@everyone
what's your ID?
@gisstudreading
nice page
Thanks dude😁
Finished "when breath becomes air", cried while reading the epilogue lol, I'm thinking of an Albert Camus book next, not sure
Reading Outliers from Malcolm Gladwell!
I am reading Atomic Habits (courtesy James) and Rebecca
Ohh nice, when breath becomes air is on my tbr too!
It's a really good book, helped me develop this reading habit hahah, enjoyy
just can be difficult to put into practice because getting rid of bad habits is really hard
Yes I have been thinking how to effectively put it into practice. Though i am only at the passive reading stage, so in good time!
If you're into mythology, give the Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympians series a try..... I'm sure you won't be disappointed
oh god same, just finished it last week, been having an existencial crisis ever since
Me too. 😆 , it kind of ruined my sleep the day I finished it. I'm not sure how exactly to draw inspiration from the story. but it kind of gives you a bit of clarity on whats important
kind of yes, it's just hard to see the smaller details when you know in the grand scheme of things we're just tryna divert from the fact that we all dying slowly but surely (i think i learnt the wrong lesson lol) and this book def implanted that thought in the forefront so that's that
lmao thats the nihilistic sense I got at first too. but Paul didn't try to divert death as most patients would, instead he had much more focus post cancer than he ever did in his life. I think the big idea is "Do not go gentle into the goodnight", you know, like the poem. Embrace death. It's a recurring theme in the books I am reading. Although yes, I can't really come to terms with it as I have an ongoing existential crisis
Thats why I wanna read Albert Camus, its a bit scary but he is regarded as one of the important writers when it comes to nihilistic existentialism.
I feel like he will only strengthen my existential crisis
yep definitely
i want to read flowers for algernon next lol, the neuroscience part of the prev book got me curious, although flowers for algernon is sci-fi
Looks interesting. I'll add it to my list.
The 5 Am club book by Robin sharma is also a good read
it surely is completed it recently
Has anyone read war of art or turning pro by steven pressfield?
I think It is so good book , you should read it!..
on it, just finished acosf (mixed feelings there)
I see :)
It’s been on my to read list since I read the first few pages free on google play books lol I have the physical copy just never got arnd to it yet
That makes me excited to read it tho also I know this a late reply :/
can someone recommend me some spooky or crime podcasts?
i presume you've already listened to crime junkie, if not check it out
i've heard that 'something was wrong' is also a good one but i haven't listened to it myself
I've read war of art, it's great! I read a chapter of it when I need motivation lol
When he talks abt living shadow life its as if he was describing my life. A big void in there which i dont know how to fill
So true. Is turning pro worth a read too? Never actually heard of his other books
Its a small book and same theme. I have actually read turning pro first and war of art half only
haha its okaay, its really good. get to it.
Thanks I’ll check that out. I am new to horror and spooky podcasts
Have anyone read the Alchemist
a very long time ago but never understood the hype around it
Yeah me too. My father loves it but I think I dont have the wisdom to understand it 😃
i read it when i was 14/15 and i didnt enjoy it, maybe i was too young to get the message...
lol that might be it for me as well
i read it a while ago and i really liked it. suspend your disbelief in some parts of it and accept that its also sort of a self help book (which is why i think a lot of people hate it - it's good for your continuous development of personal philosophy and beliefs about the world) there's some obvious problems in it too as there are with so many other kinds of books, its cliche in parts, and by virtue of probably reading it in translation i think some of the intent is probably lost, but i had a lot of fun w it when i read it a few years ago o/
Same
have you read the stranger of camus? I loved it
yeah. It seemed to me weird. The way he "mixed" up elements of the different religions was somehow confusing. But I can say it opened my mind. I had to read it
the alchemist
I just started, I really like it so far. not quite what I expected lol, but i'm glad you brought it up, never heard anyone speak on it. a bit hyped to get back to it
funny thing is i actually saw the book last year in a bojack horseman episode😆
Τo be honest it's the only book of Camus I've read. I just found it at home, calling me to "eat" it🪱
recommend me a book (i like murakami and dan brown so something based on their style)
götür beni gittiğin yere
try adam fawer's books
Anything similar to Osamu Dazai's No Longer Human
and Notes from the Underground by Dostoyevsky
does anybody know what timer James Scholz uses?
I'm 20, and just read it. It was great. Good when you're entering a new life stage.
just finished flowers for algernon, I don't think I'll ever recover from this book
Yes. I think I will wait some years until I pick it up again..
has anyone read black chalk?
indeed it is a heartbreaker. very touching read about intellectual disability
has anyone read 3 women?
Any read the deep?
I love Dostoevsky 😌
Косово је србиај
Re-designing my bookshelf :3
doggy is so cute
Another doggo says hello. 👋🏻
aww
found it 🙂
haha no problem, I saw you struggle yesterday (or the day before i don't remember) and I found the answer after the stream 🙂
Yeah
But still the boy answered:
-I love you because I had a dream, then I met a king, sold crystals, crossed the desert, the tribes went to war, and I came to a well to find out where an alchemist is sitting.
I love you because the whole Universe has cooperated to reach you.
- The Alchemist, Paulo Ceolho, Page 140
Çok ilham verici(it is so inspiring) :)
Cute shelf "Skullcrusher"😆
I improved it by a bit.
Anyone has any suggestions on Adult, romance, thriller books?
for thrillers i'd recommend Dan Brown's books (except digital fortress, that one turned out to be disappointing) you could pick up angels and demons first
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn is also brilliant
Is Gone Girl similar to The Girl on the Train?
Thank you. I will get a Dan Brown's book. Origin sounds cool. I have read The Da Vinci Code and have a copy of it.
i haven't read the latter
oooh yeah i see it now xD
cute bookshelf btw!
Stephen king and Agatha Christie
Ordered the shining from Stephen King. Agatha any good? (I read arthur Conan doyle books, so I suppose the mystery genre is similar)
can anyone suggest me a good book where i can find the cellular respiration fully explained
Agatha christie is better and simpler than sherlock
It is quite similar. Both deal with women and women perspectives. But gone girl has larger twists and the girl on the train was a little difficult to follow, atleast for me
Interesting perspective. Thank you for letting me know. 🙌🏻
if you're trying to learn that concept through textbooks it might feel tedious, you could instead watch lectures from certain youtube channels and make notes for later reference (i used this method for dealing with that chapter) i've linked some through a dm, hope it helps!
Hello, has anyone read Norwegian wood by murakami?
no
no
yes! great book
hello! has anyonr read 'the war of art' by steven pressfield?
no but what´s it about?
it's a self-help book about overcoming procrastination (what the author calls 'resistance') mostly for artists and creative people, but i think it can be useful for everyone, it's quite short to read, i highly recommend it! 💪
Dose anyone have any sad books to recommend ?
I heard “a little life” is incredibly sad and has traumatized some people that have read it lol
i read it during the pandemic
it was not the smartest thing to do
it is incredible sad
Oh okay I’ll read it, it seems interesting I hope I don’t get traumatized 😥 thanks for the recommendation
there's this novella called pinjar by Amrita Pritam, it was originally written in hindi but the english translation is really good as well, oo train to pakistan is also a sad book/novella
i did!
@tiny mural how's it ?
murakami definitely has an unique style, its a bit strange but inna good wai. after reading that one (my first murakamis book) i continued reading his work. would recommend 10/10
@tiny mural okay thankyou :3
anyone read the shining by stephen king
noo because its hard for me to read books thar i have already seen the movie
even thou book are better thar the movies
i already know what is gonna happend
I have read the hindi version!
It's honestly beautiful
Lovely Bones, by Alice Sebold
last day of a death row, by Victor Hugo
Can't recommend it enough!
late to the convo, but for sad books, I recommend 'Still Alice' by Lisa Genova
I personally did not like Lovely Bones, so i did not complete it yet.
it takes you through the protagonist's journey in grappling with early onset Alzheimer's without feeling voyeuristic about it. The author worked with and interviewed with other patients of the disease to ensure her novel's accuracy and respectfulness to their condition and personhood
Nvm, I got it
What is your native Language?
Actually you can find on Internet ( for example:amazon)
Not available here due to the pandemic
Okay maybe I can find pdf book for you
And where are you from
India
Maybe this :)
Thank you🤝

oo thats a lot of leeway to work with!
What type of movies or TV shows do you tend to watch?
faiirrrr. ok well considering the Shadow and Bone tv show is coming out tomorrow, my first thought goes to that or Six of Crows! I loveddddd six of crows but I havent read shadow and bone yet
oh definitely! the six of crows duology is amazing, the writing is beautiful, the world building is on point and the characters are pretty diverse
I can rest easy knowing that lol
