it doesn't work perfectly fine tbh its a nightmare, one of my main gripes with my mac

you either need to leave it charging or download a secondary app like amphetamine or use built-in caffeine from terminal

and even then, you have to baby it or it will go crazy (e.g., if i unplug a monitor from the mac in clamshell mode when running amphetamine, the whole app shuts down and i need to reopen the mac and restart the whole process). such a pain, i could continually rant about this lol

in terms of performance, theres no issue though, if that is what you are wondering. works great

you shouldn't need to worry about the battery too much on newer macs

they have a system in place where they only draw the necessary amount of charge, they essentially self-regulate. so if you leave it plugged it, it won't be drawing more power and ruining the battery life

I think if you give amphetamine special perms to bypass this it will continue to work even in clamshell mode. I was keeping my mac on with it for a while as a mini server, worked perfectly, no monitor attached or anything. it didn't even require the mac to be plugged in, worked on battery just as well if I remember correctly

Idk who asked but they deleted their message before I could respond to why I have two calculators that do the same thing, my casio fx-991es is currently on the verge of death and it keeps turning off mid calculations so I use my casio fx-82MS calculator (which doesn’t have nearly as much functions as the 991es) as a backup since I have finals.. The casio fx-82MS is really different from the 991es, so I practice on it just in case my 991es dies 🥲

I’m getting a new calculator soon though! Hopefully no more dying mid final exam
