So I’ve been trying to follow this TikTok video I saw to make a doom the dark ages helmet but I can’t figure out how to get the black spot weathering look on the green areas. I bought the closest shade of green to the one in the video but idk how to make it look weathered like in the photo and video. Anyone know by any chance how I can achieve this?

That guy sprayed green base and then used dark green and black airbrushed to create shadows and spots in the finish, then did a weathering pass with either blackwash acrylic or oil paints. The steel weathering he shows in the video, but doesnt show his pass of burnt sienna weathering in it.

# brisk flare I tried doing 3 coats of blackwash and this is what I was able to do. I also loo...

All airbrushes will clog if you dont spray them right, cheap or not. Trick is to thin your paint so its about milk consistency and after spraying a full cup worth of paint, spray a half cup of water through it to clear any gunk from the nozzle. Using a 0.5mm vs a 0.35 will also help.

The harbor freight special, master airbrush, etc are good enough for props airbrush work. If you want to dabble in minis or freehand painting you want something at least an iwata neo level and you can get seriously professional quality from an iwata CS level.

I have several airbrushes, paashe, harder and steinbeck infinity and some cheap chinese ones that cost like 10 bucks. the chinese ones are just as good as the infinity for props work, the infinity can spray thinner lines etc, somewhat better control, for miniatures and modelkits.

Like @buoyant zealot says: reduce (thin) the paint enough and it won't clogg and don't try to cover the color in 1 go, better spray few layers more reduced. and keep your airbrush clean. i put my airbrushes in a sonic cleaner every time i change color or stop the work.
