#Attaching armor together with pieces of leather belts?

Hey everyone. Long lurker here.

I'm finally working on putting my Iron Man Modular Armor together. I'm trying to solve my biggest hang up on my project.

I'm trying to find a way to hook things like the shoulders to the torso with something other than nylon webbing clasps like you see on life jackets. I don't trust glue just holding the webbing to the plastic.

Has anyone tried these screws used for leatherworking? I was considering heating them into the plastic, the using a leather strap to hold pieces together.

I don't know. Just a thought. Just trying to find the most durable way possible to attach everything .

I have used chicago screws for attaching stuff to leather which are the same thing basically but are flat on both sides. They work great for semi permanent applications but would be a royal PITA on something that isn't going to stay together during transport or storage.

I have had good luck using a combination of buckles, magnetic purse clasps, and velcro on my WIP mk85.

I guess if I go further down this route I should just get large size threaded inserts

Threaded inserts can be nice if you have somethjng that you may be taking on and off. But like zombie is saying unless you planned to use threaded inserts in the first place and your part has enough material to actually hold the insert in then you can't really use them.

Also for armor you wouldn't be screwing on shoulders or other pieces of the armor when you go to wear it. You want it that you can relatively easily put it on and take it off whether it be by yourself or if you need help. Alot of people will just make a harness with straps and buckles and then you have buckles attached to the inside of your armor pieces to attach to the harness.

I bought heavy duty button snap pieces and 3d printed these little square pieces with a hole in the middle. Half of the button snap pieces would go into the printed square, the other half would go into the strap. Then I would hot glue the square piece with half the button snap to the part and then weld it the part with a soldering iron. It holds much better than just glueing the straps to the parts. I could take some pics and could send you the square part file.
