#Thoughts on how to mask this for painting

Hey everyone. So I'm trying to finish up this guitar I've been working on, and I'm not quite sure how to approach painting it. I want to paint the inside of it, but also want to permanently attach the black faceplate and fill the gap around the edge so it looks seamless.

My question is what would be the best approach? I'm thinking I'll have to paint the inside and clearcoat it before I attach the faceplate so I am able to cover everything, but I haven't been able to think up a way to keep the inside all covered and clean while I'm filling, sanding, and painting the outside. Any ideas are welcome!

I do have some thoughts.

  1. for a seamless look paint the inside of both parts and glue or weld them. Stuff all the holes with foam or something similar, then paint the outside.
  2. create a fake binding by painting both parts on the inside and outside and then glue them. Then mask the top along the glue seam and mask the side to only leave a 5-10mm gap. Paint in a contrasting color.

BTW, how do you plan to attach the bridge?

Thanks for the input! #1 is the route I'm wanting to go, I'm just nervous about not being able to get the foam or whatever back out once I have the faceplate glued down.

For the bridge my plan is to drill some holes where it needs to go that are just a little smaller and use a soldering iron to sink the bushings into place, essentially like a large threaded insert. I printed the center section nearly solid to give the whole thing more weight, so I'm not too overly concerned about there being enough material to work with

@severe sand Any update on this? I‘m so interested in seeing how it turns out.

Just a thought...
You want to paint, assemble, then somehow block the inside cavity to keep it clean. The real problem is getting whatever blocker back out again when done. Right? I have that correct?
How about putting a large plastic trash bag in the cavity then inflating it? Do your exterior work. Then blast it all with compressed air to clear out any dust. Then let the air out of the bag and pull it out through one of the holes.
