This is possible , however it will require a few things. I may have some time tomorrow evening to discuss.
Just keep in mind, that when working with 2 different voltages 5v & 8.4v, care must be taken to make sure there are no wiring mistakes, and that the 5v does not bleed over to the Nano or JQ6500 module on the MKXJ board as it will damage them.
I welcome any advice you may have. How do I insure that the 8.4 does NOT bleed over to the Nano or the sound chip?
Ernest
Also, Can I still purchase the Alisha mk x-j boards ? I can't find them on Ebay.
Working on another batch
There should be a few MKXJ boards on eBay now
I’ll be around later this evening , and message you with more info regarding using the 8.4v
In the meatime, can you share some more specifics of what the end goal is with regards to using the 8.4v servo?
Once the changes are made, you will only be able to use 8.4v Servos or Neo-Pixesl, you will not be able to Mix 5v Servos and devices with the 8.4v device you plan to use.
Got it. My purpose is to use a stronger servo rather than the MG90s servo. Thanks
Here is a Pic which should hopefully explain how the "Aux Power" works on the board
Once you have the "power" separated, you can connect the new servo. As long as the new servo is "digital" and follows the same PWM (code) standard, it should work the same as the smaller MG90s servo.
By default the code is set to move the servo a total of 140 degrees from open to close position. Since Digital servos are designed to move a full 180 degrees, this means you still have 40 degrees of motion to adjust if needed .
