Rest of the print is pretty good
But the layers on the top suck
I also have to z step like .8mm before every print and I don’t know how to fix it so I don’t have to do that anymore
what do you mean by this?
if the piece printed, with the poor quality on top or bottom?
its supported by support i assume?
Before every print I have to offset the z axis by .8
Yeah
I’ve just been having tons of issues since I switched to the silent mobo
unfortunately thats how supports work for FDM printers, the surface above support will always be poorer in quality, thats why print orientation matters
Yeah I tried a few different variations of this print
I expected an answer like this I just figured I’d ask
you can try to increase the quality by lowering the support z-height, that will make the support harder to remove though
I’m just gonna sand it and fill it
what printer do you have? if it has abl / crtouch it is normal
trying to make the broken master sword
Just a standard ender 3
I realized a while ago that the firmware I had flashed was the issue
I was told it was correct after research (it was not)
the z axis would get stuck
At a certain level
I fixed that
And now I’m just trying to get it printing how it used too
I bought a BL touch and a duel z axis but I haven’t bothered installing them yet
without ABL you should leave the z-offset at 0 and level the bed
Okay, I’ll try that
Literally the entire time I’ve had the printer I’ve always had to adjust the z offset before prints
Because I don’t know how to fix it 💀
It’s like when I level the bed it’s fine
But when it prints it doesn’t touch the bed
your bed could be wobbly / the springs are loose
So I have to offset it
the springs should be compressed halfway or more
This has been a thing since when I got it (I’ve replaced the springs)
I just sorta deal with it
sounds like a hardware issue,
you replaced witht he yellow springs?
the yellow springs are shorter than the stock springs, you will need to make a couple of small adjustment to the printer when leveling it
try to relevel it and post some pictures here, i'll help you out
Also here’s an example
Alright
So the print will start and I’ll have to adjust the z to like -.7 0r .8
Gonna let this print go first because I’m trying to clean my build plate by just printing a big square
Don’t know if it will work but it sounded like a good idea in my head
Oh awesome
that sucks
Don’t rest know what this means but I know it’s to prevent fires
yes
try running it again, if the error pops up again it is likely your thermistor is broken and needs replacement
it’s happened like once or twice in the last month
could be your thermistor is loose, it is not sitting tight in the hotend
wait, did you have the silicon sock on?, without it the error can trigger as well
then yeah, i would check the thermistor
why
It got fucked up when this happend
Anything I should be looking for
I ordered some new nozzles I’ll try to replace one
it looks good, maybe a cold breeze of air triggered the error
thats why having the silicon sock is important
I do have my window fan on
But it’s like
Always on
So Idunno
Just replaced the nozzle the other one was icky
if I get a clog because I didn’t do it right that’s fine I know how to fix it
I think changing the nozzle like fixed my quality of print issues
The layers are already looking better
print looks good
I’ll send a pic once it’s done
Or like halfway
It’s just a one layered square
Going all over the print bed
I cancelled a couple prints and now I’m paying for it
On a scale of 1/10 how difficult would you rate installing a BL touch
3/4, mount it , plug it into the mainboard, flash the firmware
Mm ok, I thought calibrating it and stuff would be a pain
