Never done anything that tall, but found using a threaded rod in a hand drill and using that as a drill bit let me get the rod through.
I would suggest is having a look at using a drill press, so the drill holes are straight and looking for a long drill bit the same size as the rod, depends on the size of the pieces too.
Or have a look into something like a solder iron that could heat the rod and then push it into the pieces, maybe look for some pipe that will allow you to drill or push the rod in straight.
The other way would be to cut the prices in have so you have semi circle lengths, so cuts the shaft in two, then you could use a dremel etc and carve out a gap, then put them back together.
Either way it will be a lot of work and I wish you luck.
Yeah i debated taking my dremel to the steel threaded bar and cutting it to resemble a self tapping screw. But im unsure how well it would work
Yeah it’s a tough one as one slip and you may end up ruining the print, and drilling it in straight will be a pain as it will no doubt get a wobble factor.
The easiest way would be to trim the spear down to drillable sizes, but that then creates a need to reassemble and refinish.
Right, and at that point i might as well completely reprint with premade holes
Indeed, it’s a case of which is more effort and time used. Maybe reprinting and selling the first print as a display piece is a good plan.
