Hey! handWave

Important parts are formatted in bold.

Let's talk about the role!
I'm looking for a long-term editor, who'll help me create awesome YouTube videos for years to come. The first two months will include us spending time ensuring that you can replicate my current editing style and perhaps even making it better! After that, we'll start uploading videos and growing together!

So, who are you looking for?
Ideally, I would like an editor who wants to grow with me, but doesn't take the job too professionally - I want a friend who'll help me out in making awesome videos for awesome viewers. blobMeow

I mentioned before that I want to spend the first several weeks making sure that your editing style fits the current one on the channel, this is because I don't want any dramatic change to the videos we've currently got going. In order to do this, it'd be great we were in the same or similar time zone. I'm from the UK (GMT = UTC/BST = UTC+1), at the time of writing this it's 18:44. It's important, that I'll be able to contact you between <t:1688313600:t> and <t:1688331600:t> (your time), however I'll try to be available as much as possible outside those hours. handPeace

This also means I'm not looking for a seasoned editor, y'all are welcomed but I find that experienced editors have a hard time getting accustomed to the channel's style (it's not hard style, rather they like to add too much to it) but hey, if you know you can adapt, you're more than welcomed!

I'm looking for someone who likes to ask questions this might sound a little cheesy but I do think it's important that you understand everything that's going on in and out the video and channel. I'll try be as active and open as I can be to answer all your question as soon as I can!

Money. handMoney
Alright, so when it comes to the finances, I should make it clear that one of the reasons why I want to make a channel is to make passive income to aid me while I work part-time jobs, work on my personal projects and study at university. However, why make money now when you can make even more money later, right? I've done editing work, I know how hard it is but at the same time, I don't really have the money to splash about. It's for this reason, I've developed a financial plan which I hope you'll appreciate:

So, as soon as you complete your first video, I'll be paying you on a per-video duration basis. This means, you may get X amount on a 1 minute video and Y amount on a 10 minute video (where Y is bigger than X). But, I'm sure you're looking for the numbers here so let me give to you.

Right off the bat? £1 per video minute. Now, this (personally) is terrible pricing, actually if you look at my current channel status, a large majority of my videos are a minute a long and it takes me ~an hour to edit each video (you can easily shorten this editing time). Definitely not worth it for you but, the first thing I'd like to change to my channel is the length of the video.

So, one thing I want to mention is I like data and I definitely look at my analytics, in a little while I'll be talking about how I intend to grow my channel so stay tuned for that but as of now: I want to increase the length of my videos to 10 minutes as this will increase watch time. Now, this is important to you for two reasons. For starters, that means you'll get be getting £10 per video (on average, because a video could be 9 minutes and 30 seconds or 12 minutes and 17 seconds) but it's also important because, after channel is monetized, you'll earn 100% of the channels pay.

That either sounds like clickbait or doesn't mean much to you so let me explain: to be monetized you need 3,000 hours of watch time in the

#

span of 12 months, since I intend to upload once a week that's 58 hours of watch time per video, and to do that (with 10 minutes per video) we'll need ~350 views to be monetized. To be clear, that is a very easy number to reach as my recent videos already hit over 200 views and I'm not doing anything special yet. This means monetization is certain. So, we get monetized meaning we average 350 views per video, according to Influencer Market Hub (I'll do more research on this if you want more accurate data) rates can range from $0.10 to $0.30 per video view and this'll average to $0.018 per ad view. Based on this, for 350 views the channel (and thus you) will earn $6.30 (or £4.96 - I'm from the UK). I'll pay the difference so in this case, I'd pay you £5.04 (assuming it's a 10 minute video). Eventually, the channel will make enough money I won't have to pay you the difference (~700 views on avg), and soon after you'll be making more than the guaranteed minimum I've set out (being £1 per video minute).

However, of course I can't give you %100 forever blobGrin . I'll need to upgrade my equipment at some point, hire people for thumbnails, content writing, etc, and as I said this will ideally make a little passive income for myself. So, once the channel makes over £35 per video (using the same data as above, this'd imply each video gets on average 2.5k views). Then, I'll pay you £35 from the channel and keep the difference, so if the video makes £50, I'll pay you £35 and keep the remaining £15.

Of course, as the channel grows even further and makes, say, £1000 per video, it'd be quite ridiculous to continue giving you £35 compared to my... £965 so we'll figure things out, it's not a smart idea to pay based off percentage forever and I'll have to set-up a cap at some point. A quick google search states "YouTube video editors charge around $375 (~£300) for video editing per video".

Eventually, I may have a finance team so I don't want to make promises now I can't keep later.
If you can't tell, I like numbers so if you want an even deeper dive into the data, feel free to ask. But talking about numbers, I also like analytics...

How will the channel grow?
So, as of now, I make content for a game with a large audience and small competition. It's called "Bomber Friends", there are YouTubers who literally record and upload gameplay of the game and get over 10k views per video. I want to make high quality, edited videos that are fun and interesting, informative whilst still being enjoyable to watch and overall just good videos. So, it would seem like a no-brainer for current viewers of the game to watch some of our content, quite a couple have already!

You know I like numbers but I also just like learning more on the ins and outs of how YouTube works. Even if I'm not the next Mr Beast, I feel like I know YouTube a little bit more than the next person, and I've spotted a gap in the market so: right now my thoughts are: "might as well give it go". I have many content ideas that I want to try out and I think my viewers will really enjoy them so I don't really see how my channel won't grow! However, if I can't see it, that doesn't mean you can't so I'm always willing to hear criticism, so if see any flaws in my plan tell them to my face! There's nothing wrong with fixing mistakes before they become problems!

But, I don't want to make content on Bomber Friends forever, I've never liked being tied to doing one thing so there will become a point in time when the channel makes a slow but smooth transition into playing other games, however that's quite a bit down the line. In the meantime, I want to just grow the channel to the point where I can influence the other Bomber Friends creators create high quality content for the game just like I will!

Payments will be made using Paypal or Debit!

Why should I work for you?

There's probably better choices out there, but I'll state a few benefits of working with me compared to some others.

For starters, you can be as flexible as you want with the equipment you use, the time spent, etc. As long as the videos are great it doesn't really matter! I did state, the I do want you to be in the same/similar time zone so that we can communicate without long response times but that's kind of the only requirement. When it comes to equipment, use what you want, I'll try get myself the same editing software as you to help out in any way I can.

You don't need a portfolio - I mean, it'd be nice if you had one, but since I'd like you to edit in the same style as me, as long as you know how the tools of your editing software works, the videos you've made in the past doesn't really matter as of now.

Moving on to the kind of cheesy stuff, I don't really want a customer-client relationship here, I don't mind jumping into a game of Among Us on the side or talking about whatever, just as long as the video is made by the end of week. Like I said at the absolute start, I want a long-term editor who I could call a friend. I don't feel the need to make things too professional. So, I guess if you're tired of the professionalism, this might also be a benefit ig. blobMeow

And, one final reason to work with me is that I will provide all the assets you'll ever need!

Alright, here's a link to my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@TigerYT-Main/videos
And here's a link to an yet-to-be released channel that will be more similar to the videos you and I will make: https://youtu.be/w0ESIPMK1aM

Thanks for reading all of this, I'm Tiger, and if you're interested in working with me just send me a DM (mention the word "editor" in the message so I know what the DM's about).

TL;DR
Alrighty, the main takeaways of this are the following:

  • I'm looking for a long-term editor, we're talking several months to years.
  • The first two months will ideally be us working together to ensure you can make videos that fit the current editing style.
  • You must be able to respond quickly, my time zone is UTC+0 or UTC+1 (during the summer: like right now).
  • Available at some points between: <t:1688313600:t> and <t:1688331600:t> (your time)
  • Feel free to ask questions about editing, the channel, finances or just me as a person.
  • Talking about money, initially, you'll be paid per video for £1 per minute (~£10 per video).
  • You'll never be paid below this, even after the channel is monetized.
  • Monetization will occur at ~350 views per video and we're currently on ~200 (with no effort put in).
  • After monetization, you'll earn 100% of the money the channel makes off ads until the channel makes £35 a video,
  • When the channel gets ~700 views per video, you'll start to earn more than £10 a video.
  • At the £35 mark, you'll be paid a "reasonable" amount that varies as the channel grows and caps at around £300 but it's way too early to make any promises on the financial plan after £35/video.
  • I've studied, am studying and will continue to study YouTube and my channel's analytics to ensure growth (and because it's fun for me).
  • I'm making content for a game with a large audience and small competition.
  • See the full post for more information but in short, as long as we keep uploading awesome videos, there's no doubt the channel will grow.
  • Feel free to edit how you want (end result should look like current content - initially: we'll improve on it in the future), when you want, etc, as long as the videos are great it doesn't matter.
  • No portfolio necessary.
  • I don't want a professional relationship.
  • I'll prove any an all assets you made need.
