How to make a sequence have every image the maximum size retaining ratio and not leaving the screen?

I have a lot of images, that are all different sizes and formats. How do I make it so that each image is sized to the maximum it can without leaving the screen, and without being stretched to a square?

you can precomp all and add detail preserving upscale effect

select fit to comp height

and width

It still stretches it even with the Detail-preserving Upscale effect

And it created a new Comp which I don't want

Like here, it's a wide image, but because it stretches it, it becomes a square
