Hello! While mixing and recording every now and then one of the playing tracks on my XDJ-XZ's will lag, slow down and make an awful digitised artifacting noise, all in about 1 or 2 seconds, then carry on playing but completely out of the beat I set. At first I thought this could be an issue with master tempo as XZ's have historically had this issue, but the issue persisted even after I turned master tempo off. Any one got any idea whats going on? It's ruining any recording where it happens as the sound plays through the master and throws off the beat.
#Trouble with XDJ-XZ having cpu-overload-like lag/slow down/atrifacting during playback on one track

Two recorded examples of this happening
in "glitch2" it happens around 13 seconds, in "glitch1" it happens at 4 seconds

assuming you are using it in standalone not connected to a laptop?
It's all in standalone, forgot to mention
ah... yeah ... apart from making sure the firmware is up to date there is probably not much you can do about that
i updated to the latest firmware last week, it so annoying because i cant predict when its happening and can ruin performances ๐
although I have had a lot of time using XDJ-XZs and never had this issue, so that's interesting
might it be worth taking it into a shop for repair?
my issue is i don't even know whats wrong with it
yeah I feel like it could be a faulty unit
oh dear, i've not even paid it off yet hahah
i do have insurance on it however
not manufacturer, just my own insurance for music equipment
Sounds like the filter knob, has there ever been liquid spilt? try Deoxit or similar
i wouldnt know how to get in there, but i've not spilled anything, though i did use it at a big event where drinks were all around, others used the decks for around 7 hours (my set was 1 hour), but i didnt notice any spillage on there after
just noticed too when this happens, the waveform on the xz's seems to zoom in for the duration of the slowdown then zoom back out when it returns to speed
very weird

So, is it a software fault or hardware? try and factory reset the unit
del + master tempo, and power cycle
thats what im scratching my head about tbh, in "glitch1", when i fader out the previous track, that track on the waveform seems to zoom in then a red message saying "out of range" pops up, found this when i was trying to recreate the issue with master temp and sync on
that message appears over the track name of the one i just faded out
im wondering if the cpu/glitch thing occurs when it runs into whatever error is happening there
I'd use it with your DJ software, and see if any midi crawl is happening on any pots or sliders, deoxit if it is
after this is zooms back out quickly and keeps playing
Service mode may find the fault, Deck 1 tempo + memory and power on holding them down while it boots
The rotary encoder will cycle through the tests
Which tests do you think might be relevant?
... but I think it'll be the rotary encoder itself faulty,
the pots and sliders, buttons etc, anything that can stick due to a drink spill
ahh good bc that's the expensive one
Tbf some of the colour fx filter pots are stiffer than others
I said that one bc that does the zoom, you said it zoomed in. that looked like an encoder spamming the cpu
I've noticed it does that whenever it seems to run "out of range" with bpm
And I think sometimes when it does that we get the glitchy sound
Does sound like a sticky situation
Like song 1 fades out, and song 2 (which was entering a breakdown) had the slowdown happen
