yesterday i loaded up this game for the first time about a year, i had no issues, but today, i get about 5 minutes in and it insta crashes. i tried turning off AV to see if that's causing it, i tried 2 different saves, same result, i have 2 mods installed and neither would be the reason for this crashing, this never used to happen, i cant understand what has happened in the past 12 hours for this to happen.

Verify gamefiles update/remove mods. (Don't ever say a mod won't do something because they will effect things you dont think they should)
nuts to that, what else you got, i tried removing mods/ resinstall game, deleted all files, same result
what is it saying when you try to start the game?
it starts up alright, but after about 5 minutes crash town, just micro freezes and crashes, as i said in my opening comment, it works for about 5 minutes stops and then crashes. i'm reinstalling with a clean install YET AGAIN, if it does it this time, then we are done here, i dont get it, everything was fine yesterday, i've cleaned out all files related to this game, so if it doesnt work this time,,,
that doesnt tell us anything. if it gives a error message, crash report or nothing at all those can point in the direction of whats going on.
well that's it, we are done here, just clean install, not even 1 minute and it crashed no mods, fresh install, barely got out of the drop ship and it crashed. well it was good while it lasted.
Well if you want a fix you have to work with people. We are just players tryng to help you. With some real information you can get some real help. Others including myself run the game 0 issues. Choice is yours, money is spent. Have some patience and fix it or decide you lost the money.
I would have suggest changing your drivers immediately to Studios as Game Ready have had many issues.
Again if you want help it there, if you want to throw attitude then uninstall and good luck to you. Nothing wrong with the game overall does work so choose.
Question:
When you un-installed the game, did you check the steamapps Icarus subfolder (or wherever you installed the game) to make sure there's no files left behind?
If there are 'alien' files in that directory (files that didn't come with the game itself, quite often but not exclusively a result of mods) that are causing issues, they won't be removed by un-installing the game (after all, they don't belong to the game, so the installer won't touch them when un-installing the game) - a Steam File verify will also not touch those files (again, because they're not part of the game files).
And if they're not removed, they'll still be there after the un-install and will cause issues again right away after re-installing the game.
After un-installing the game, please make sure that folder is empty (manually delete any remaining files if necessary) before installing the game again.
And obviously after re-installing the game do your checks before installing any mods.
