#Game Crash to black screen

Your GPU is definitely running a little hot, possibly crashing because of it.
Running 'a little hot'?
Look at the small margin between GPU Temperature and GPU Thermal Limit.
I'd say it runs way too hot!
It's not only drivers that increase the temperature of the GPU.
It's also the amount of work the GPU has to do (actually, it mostly is).
Now when you update your drivers, and the game detects functions in your driver that weren't in the previous version of the driver, but can be used by the game, it WILL use them (unless specifically told otherwise).
Hence more load on the GPU, hence a higher GPU temperature.
And as I said, seen how close you are to the Thermal Limit, there's not a whole lot of wiggle room.
@storm rock The temperatures in the screenshot you posted, are those idle temperatures? Or when playing Icarus?
playing icarus
As said, very little margin till failure.
I had the same issue on my RTX 3070
In the end I took off the side of the PC case, and put a big fan right in front of the video card to keep it cool enough to play Icarus...
Yeah, I was trying not to be too dramatic, but indeed, it's running at max temp.
Although for many cards, it simply bottlenecks performance through throttling, but also in some cases can cause instability.
@storm rock are you using any form of GPU OC through an application like MSI Afterburner?
no, i dont use oc tools
i set settings on textures now from epic to high and i have 76 degrees
and post processing from epic to high
Yeah, my 3070 crashed my PC as well when running too hot.
No throttling to try and get the temp down, but just freezing / crashing.
When you're that close to the Thermal Limit, I'm afraid you went past throttle already, and it's just cutting out in order to prevent damaging the video card...
Do you see a difference in crash frequency? By keeping the settings low this may work for now, but there may be something wrong with the GPU itself, if you have warranty on it still, I would claim it.
it do not crash now.....
