I'm really hoping the volume of the default sounds and music gets increased to match most mods. It really annoys me that they're like, only 25% of the volume of mods or something like that. It's to the point that I made my own mod with modified versions of the default sounds, though the only change is an increase in volume. Couldn't get it to match without the audio breaking in Audacity, though.

Mostly unrelated, but apparently standard Opera has a similar issue with some of its themes? Like, Midsommar's music is significantly quieter than Interstellar's, to the point that I can barely hear it. I dunno how I'd get that info to the devs of that version of Opera, though.

I've been using Opera GX since release. I know a lot of people are averse to change, and some criticism might get brushed off with "you'll get used to it", but no, the new UI looks like an AliExpress RGB keyboard. It went from gamer-friendly to straight-up cartoonish. GX needs to tone it down. I game a lot, but I'm also a functional adult.
This made me switch browsers. ✌️

I recently had a time when I was at school and the teacher thought I was playing games on my laptop (which I wasn't doing) and then my teacher told me to open my browser (opera GX) and when I opened it it automatically went to gx corner and my teacher thought it was a game and then I had to stay after school.

(PC) Add a setting to remove sponsored suggestions in the search bar. It makes the search feature unnecessarily frustrating when I type 3 letters and it auto-suggests a site I've never been to before. But 1, 2, 4, etc. letters provide the correct autofill to sites I always use.

Yeah its more of a suggestion than a question of if. hence posting in suggestions.
Normal Opera has a linux version and id rather not have to go through the trouble of creating my own browser in the style of opera GX just to get those features to work on linux.

recently ive been getting an issue on twitch where i get constant frame drops every 5 seconds and ive been bashing my head trying to figure out how to fix this. ive turn on and off acceleration, disabled and uninstalled all extensions, turned off and on RGX mode, turned off low latency mode, turned off adblocker, just about everything under the sun besides messing with configs. i saw @raven bobcat mentioned it has something to do with streamers with bitrates above 6k and from what i tested this seems to be pretty accurate. i dont have this issue with any other browser (tried chrome, firefox, edge), only operagx lags this way and its super frustrating because i love the browser but i cant force myself to keep using this if there is no clear fix. especially since ive had this issue with my old computer not long ago. mind you ive had opera for little over 2 months on my new pc and never ran into the issue until recently.

its not a super big issue and people wouldnt have to use it often but when i try to transfer my opera gx setup (bookmarks, speed dial, etc.) i found my custom speed dial images and names do not save despite the background exporting just fine.

its just a small nitpick but i figured it was worth mentioning there should be a way to keep my speed dial's custom names and images when doing the transfer feature!

Bug/Suggestion:

Allow the muting of the later split screen tabs. Currently, even when right clicking on the right side, it will mute the left tab in the split screen... which makes it a chore to unsplit, mute, then re-split.

Hi Opera GX Team!
First of all, thank you for the amazing browser and especially the built-in music player – it’s super convenient.

I wanted to suggest adding a volume control/slider inside the music player. Right now, the player is great for controlling play/pause and switching tracks, but the volume can only be adjusted globally from the system. A separate slider inside the GX music player would make it much more practical, especially when switching between YouTube Music, Spotify, or other services.

This small addition would improve usability a lot and make the music player feel complete. Thanks for considering this suggestion!

Keep up the great work, Opera GX keeps getting better with every update!

On Opera GX, the YouTube video player area looks slightly smaller compared to Microsoft Edge or Chrome (not fullscreen, but the normal view with recommendations on the side). On Edge, the video feels a bit larger and fits better. Could this be optimized for Opera GX so the video size matches other browsers?

The tab snoozing feature is great and I wish to keep it on but sometimes it get annoying. I don't wish to disable it completely either so, Add a "Exclude from tab snoozing" option for individual tabs/tab islands.

Hi there, I've been using Opera GX since it was launched and I would really appreciate it if you guys could make the sidebar dividers optional rather than remove it altogether?

It's a big enough change that I think more than a few users would be grateful for, or please make it a flag or something so it's customizable

Suggestion: Quit offering the regular Opera randomly on Opera GX.

I'm not gonna use the regular Opera when I find GX to be the better Opera flavour and this is beginning to be quite annoying.

just like the turn off background music and turn on background music toggles, add a toggle for muting/unmuting background music, that seems way more useful, simpler, and intuitive than it literally turning it off, this has so many more use cases

examples: mute opera gx background music when hass.agent reports active window "call of duty",
mute/unmute opera gx background music when door opens/closes so you can talk to someone with your headphones on.

issue with current toggle: when it literally turns background music off, you cant unmute it simply by clicking the button in the sidebar, you have to manually go into settings and turn on the background music feature

I recommend doing a "per-tab volume slider", default value 50 out of a range from 0-100

A lot of friends (me included) were talking about how some websites have different volumes, some twitch streams are too low (or loud) on the maximum (or minimum) volume settings, how spotify, youtube music and apple music (and some other browser music players) have different volumes, etc.

Could be on that menu that appears when right clicking a tab, just above (or below) the "mute tab" or "mute other tabs" options, so it stays coherent. Could also appear when clicking the "audio" icon on tabs that are playing sound

about: mods and local modification of browser

there are many things possible with mods, however they cant be done through ui, we have to learn to code, maybe let users do everything mods can do using ui, like mods can change background to webm, let users do that natively, bg music, app icon, fonts, cursor these are things which can be easily done through ui, though its locked behind code wall. i know not all mods features can be easily converted to ui but im confident these ones can plus a few more.

Just update Browsers Assistant: Aria AI.

  1. Add voice recognition/voice inputs.
  2. add feature to control browser, like open websites with voice command.
  3. Add feature to access other Aria's features based on voice inputs.

reasons. This will improve over all control and also expand browser for users who's may have disability. Also, it would allow to make some actions without need to sit right in front of pc/laptop.
I mean, imagine you need book the tickets for sport or music festival. While you busy working on other stuffs.

Now need to clarify, that other AI's like Siri from apple already able do that. So over all this would be only bringing this feature to opera, not try invent.

Other thing, voice input while using chat GPT. That would be something nice in general. And Aria may act as middle man, a bridge between other Ai's and browsers users.

Freezing happens like 80% of the time at the first launch. It will be fine after 5-6 minutes and starts normally but until then its just this blank window. Also freezes on the first download of the day. I wanted to download a funny meme from twitter with right click save image as and after i selected the download location and the download started the browser just froze. What should I do? (if I delete the history and the cache it helps but I've never have to do that with chrome in the last 10 years)

Hello, I think GX (or possibly Opera in general) needs an advanced PDF thing that will be able to edit PDF files, like appending text, accession these links or something even further. Is it possible? Can I help with this (I don't know whether I'm allowed to)? This idea has arisen some times already, so it will be helpful. Moreover, GX seems as fully equipped browser, so this bit would bring this concept to a completion. Not to mention, this feature is used by some competitors...

Heavy on this. Companies need to stop shoving their AI down our throats by default. I'm deeply disappointed that they have jumped on the AI train. Its a browser. it takes 5 seconds to kill the planet on someone elses dime rather than have AI built into GX. I wish there was more consumers could do against Ai other than simply not use it. They do not need to compete with these immoral AI browsers popping up.

hello, i just updated the browser minutes ago and for some reason, after the update when the browser rebooted, i lost all the tabs which were open prior to the update, this is recurring thing that i have noticed whenever i update the browser after its already running and it causes a major loss of data, because there were a lot of work/research related tabs opened in separate workspaces (>30 tabs), it is not possible for me remember everything that was on, now its kinda impossible for me to find the exact things that were open previously because it didnt even mention or create an instance in the browser history that these many tabs where closed just now. its empty, please look into a solution for this issue

Feature Request: Password Manager for GX Mobile

I know I've not been the only one who has requested it but I'm not sure if anyone else in this server has. It would be so much easier on many people if there was a password manager either in the mobile version of the browser or having a separate app that is related to the browser to manage all the passwords saved on it, similarly to how Firefox and Chrome do it. Being able to access your passwords from the palm of your hand rather than having to continuously check your tab on your computer has many advantages; of course there are the disadvantages, but those have easy/proper solutions.

1 - it doesn't work on my phone as well
2 - I've already got GX on PC, including passwords and having more than one browser can be a hassle for some, me included, or they would simply prefer having or using only one browser
3 - like I said before, I am not the only one who would like to have this feature, I may be the only who voiced it here (I'm not certain about that yet) but there are many people on different sites who have wished for this, one of these include Reddit and I can even send the links if you wish to see

Correction:
1 - neither of those browsers work well on neither my phone nor my pc which was one of the few reasons that I've switched to using Opera GX

No idea if someone from staff is checking this channel, but UX suggestion for GX Corner: right now the carousels can’t be dragged directly — only the slider works, and it’s really inconvenient to move back and forth that way. Suggestion: How about a GPU and a Disk I/O Limiter:
You see, we already have a CPU, Ram and Network limiter, I honestly think it fits, because limiting Disk usage also improves read and write speeds on other tasks, and prevents SSD thrashing, and the GPU Limiter would prevent VRAM spikes, I honestly think its genius because we already have limiters, and I think it fits.

Suggestions: CPU Cores limiter and Opera GX support 8k polling rate on a mouse without mouse flicks, fix wean u put your mouse on 8k polling rate it gives you mouse flicks. Wean I play browser games like Krunker I get mouse flicks if I put my mouse on 8k polling and a CPU limiter to limit ur cpu to a certain ammount of cores.

I'm almost certainly the only one, but I tend to find myself constantly clicking to keep the music at its highest point, and it gets really annoying really fast. I always end up turning off the music eventually because of that. On top of that, more than a few mods end up combining multiple completely separate songs into one track, not realizing that it's all for one track (I guess).

TL;DR: Can we get the option to choose what parts of a song are playing?

I know that OperaGX can tell if i set it at default window or not, because everytime i set your browser as a background, Twitch often pause a stream i was listening too, the issue is, girl streamer often moan when talking, and it help me focus on aiming in Overwatch (not Valorant, i swear), so.. for the sake of my rank, can you not tracking my browser if it's default window or not?

I use Opera GX for studying and often need to create notes while browsing. It would be incredibly helpful to have a feature that allows me to place personal notes directly on a website.

Idea:
Allow users to create sticky notes that stay visible on the page while browsing.

Suggested functionality:

  • Place notes anywhere on a webpage.
  • Notes remain fixed on the screen while scrolling.
  • Ability to edit notes (text, color, shape, etc.).
  • Option to add multiple notes on the same page.
  • Ability to delete or move notes easily.

Hotkey suggestion:
Shift + Ctrl + S to quickly create a new note.

This feature would make studying and organizing information much easier when working with multiple sources.

Hey Opera GX team—first off, massive props. This browser just flows. The sidebar with Twitch, Discord, and X pinned right there? Saves me so much hassle—no more alt-tabbing mid-game. Those subtle sounds when I pin or close tabs? Super satisfying without being loud. Dark theme is crisp, and that red glow on the active tab? Great—I never lose my spot anymore. Add better mod documentation. Make it more clear what each item does and how to add it. Right now the documentation is very limited and I'm considering writing my own documentation to make it more clear.

Helpful things I think everyone would benefit from knowing

(I already know these)

  • What each color corresponds to (accent and secondary base)
  • Which features are actually supported currently and which are not (ex. switch is a supported sound but important click is not)

Also update the documentation. Things have been added and changed (browser pop-up, icons, etc) but have not been documented in the github documentation. Adding these updates would make modding a lot easier to get into. Thanks!

Oh hey, another suggestion came to mind! Thank Firefox for this one.

Give us an easy way to completely disable all AI features, present and future, within the browser.

Having to go into the flags every once in a while just to ensure it's all gone is a massive pain, especially when you have all three Operas installed for different purposes like I do (One for regular browsing with the Frutiger Aero theme, GX as my primary, especially while gaming, and Air for schoolwork). Firefox already added a single switch to their browser settings that does this, and it's such a godsend! But feature-wise, I still prefer the Opera Browsers.

There's no workspace extensions on Firefox that function exactly like the workspaces on Opera, and in terms of customization, Firefox needs the GX Mods extension to compete. At that point, the only thing it has over Opera GX is the fact that sounds can play in most websites, like hovering over a video on YouTube. I just prefer Opera for most things, and yet I've always considered switching away because most of its few shortcomings are nearly dealbreakers. If they don't get fixed, I may indeed bail on this browser and its siblings, but I don't want to.

Insta ban beggars, start making rooms accessible only if you picked up a role, make some roles as a reward if you keep being active, like a trusted or regular role, that way you'll get some of the trolls and beggars out and you'll see who wants to support you for real. a few suggestions for the discord server:

create a better categorization of the text channels, e.g. german specific channels have their own sub category
create application forms for mod and other positions. it's needed to reduce random people with no experience
more emojis than that logo, don't know what kind but just reaction emojis in general
improve the role assignment. maybe use a bot that's specified toward role assignment
increase the amount of local language channels. i've noticed the occasional asian user and it might be nice to include language channels for them too.
create voice channels. this can be in coordination with the first suggestion
only put the slowmode to use where it's really needed.
improve interactions between staff and user
the back-alley category is a bit too general imo.
create more roles so people can be shown what they want to see. e.g. i don't want to see the #715201230669873232 or #717263025685659688 channels

@quaint saffron well no, it doesn't because you're limited to seeing 6 games at a time. even just adding the ability to scroll left and right would work so you could see everything. the platform selection is cool but if you want to see more than one platform you pretty much always have to go through each one individually. just making it so that you select which platforms you want and then scrolling sideways to see every deal would be an improvement. same with the other 2 sections i mentioned. The release calendar used to have this feature too but got removed for some reason.

I of course understand everything, the server just opened, but I had to test it at least.
Short list of problems

  1. MEE6 does not see the rest of the chat rooms and therefore can not charge levels. You can disable unnecessary commands by going to the bot's website, which is done in 2 clicks.
  2. The role of the muted are configured. To configure them, go to the channel's permissions and make sure that the mute role can't send messages. Also, the role must be placed over all users, so that it does not overlap with other roles.
  3. Some bots are simply not needed and therefore useless. I can recommend such bots as: Auttaja (a great bot for moderation), Unbelievable (a good entertainment bot). Grovny and Ruthum bots are suitable for music (the names may not be accurate). (For setting up bots, you can contact me. I will be happy to help you, as I have a lot of experience setting them up.)
  4. there Are not enough voice channels. You can create a separate category where there will be channels for each country.

It is currently only possible to select and adjust an area yourself and then save it as a screenshot. So here my suggestion: Click on the camera and move the mouse pointer over the website, which automatically recognizes certain areas/elements of a website ( for example a photo ). This makes it possible to take better screenshots of certain areas because it avoids small border on the edge of a screenshot. Firefox has such a function. You can mute the entire browser on volume mixer when you rclick on speaker icon on task bar, or you can mute a tab individually on the icon beside the tab that has sounds playing, but a mute all tab button or probably including it when you rclick on the opera icon in taskbar will also be great.

New "Force Dark Pages" option There is a problem with some sites where dark pages become light when this option is on. Something that would be very useful is to be able to add exceptions from sites where the option will work, this would help to avoid turning the option on and off.

hmm i guess the browser registers it like you're typing alot of letters when you hold a key even if you're not on a textbox, every letter ticks. its either you disable the typing sounds or i guess hear the ticks 😄 but yeah, those sounds should not exist if you're not on a text box.

Example: You have 10 different tabs open and 4 of them are some chords for music, 2 for GMail, 3 for research and 1 is a video on YouTube. Then you can divide them into groups so you don't lose track of them by coloring them and leaving a little more space between groups of tabs.

Well, that edit didn't go so well. So to somewhat repeat my previous suggestion;

I understand why there is a cooldown on the #715201454889238649 channel, seeing as this discord (as should've been predicted) was spammed to death, which the quick and dirty solution was to put a slowmode in these channels. But, there are waaaaaaaay better ways to deal with this.

Such as having a bot for creating support tickets. Here is a butchered link, which hopefully works, if it breaks rules, then, well at least i tried to help.

What i tried to edit in, was a link to the bot i spoke of, I've been on the receiving end as a client, and it was very user-friendly. You guys just need to set it up on your end.

Another propostion about Workspaces : why don't you make a system to separate workspaces... I mean : if I want to consutl my e-mails on the "work" workspace, and that I want to use the same mails client in another workspace, I have to disconnect from the first one to get connected into the second one...
It's stupid if the workspaces function is added to enhance the efficiency... No ? So you could consider that each workspace is a "private tab", using his own cookies.

I really like the addition of the workspaces but wanted to double down on a proposition I saw: allow the ability for certain workspaces to be isolated from other workspaces. In other words, each workspace would be able to be set so that it uses different user accounts (like gmail), bookmarks, history, etc. It would be similar to a person using two different browsers or computer accounts...but all within the Opera GX browser. I would personally find this helpful as a college student and could imagine that it would be very useful for those who use their computer for work.
