#good EDM production software for free.

actually there are a lot of open source alternatives for most programs nowadays
Honestly, there are no good "free" DAW. Your best bet is to save up for a Standard version of Ableton. Suite is nice, but not necessary. I also would not recommend using cracked programs or software.
If you are only going to buy one, buy Ableton. FL is great as a starter DAW, but you will eventually outgrow it, and you might as well start on the DAW that will grow with you.
I also would not recommend using cracked programs or software.
Why
Because it's cracked and can be corrupted or messed up. Plus, ethically, if you expect to (eventually) get paid for your music, you should be writing on legit software. Same thing with the tracks you DJ. Pay for your music.

But if, for now, you don't really expect to get paid for your music?
Don't think I'd get big $$$ from 7 monthly listeners or whatever
I have been in the industry for 24 years. I have paid for my software and music for years, even when I wasn't making anything.
once I got enough money from the music I made I'd pay for software
but otherwise no, not gonna lose money on doing the thing I love????
Buying software and music is not wasting money. As a producer, you know how much time and effort goes into making a track. When you download, you are basically telling that songwriter that their time is worthless to you.
I agree with the music part, you should reconsider downloading music or whatever
But I disagree with the software part
'Cause if I can't get money with my songs I make with your software, you ain't getting money either
It's the same with software. A lot of time and effort went into the development of the program. You want to use the product of their hard work, right? Pay for the time they spent making it.
I'm not just gonna work for negative money
But you aren't.
I want them to get a share of my income, but I don't want to pay for them when I make nothing
If my songs don't do well I am
I get where you are coming from, at the same time, someone had to spend a lot of time and effort to make that program or plugin.
Exactly why I'd agree to pay a share of the money I make from my songs
Of course there's no way they can guarantee that though
So maybe I just crack the software and use the donate button?
Honestly don't find this very unethical
I just hate the idea of working on something and ending up with less money than you initially started with, that is all
The best way I can describe it is this: If you are building a house, you need a hammer. You purchase the hammer before using it to build the house.
From an industry standard, your viewpoint is very ethically skewed. In professional circles even if you are not actively earning money you pay for your samples and software.
The difference here is that when you're building a house, you're gaining material property. You know exactly what you're gonna get.
Ethically skewed in what direction? I think what I'm saying is pretty ethical. I don't want to work to lose money. If I get really successful and popular, the developers of the company get a share of my success.
You can't tell me what to do, I know it's not legal to pirate software, yet I'm still gonna do it. Is it really unethical when you don't earn money with it, though?
Again, I feel like giving them like 10% of your income in the form of donations is a much better idea than just paying the same amount per month. Otherwise they earn the same amount from Hardwell and from some student in large dept with a passion for music, and I feel like that's not really fair.
Yes
You do you. It is viewed as unprofessional in the industry to not pay for your samples or software.
I'm fine with being labelled unprofessional.
so, the only software i know that is acceptable and free is lmms
Vital is a great free alternative to Serum. I use it on every single one of my tracks!
Also LABS has some good orchestral stuff too!
Audacity is free
