Can anyone help?
whats your start command?
Npm run start
What's the start script command
And make sure you don't have a PORT manually set in your service variables
Look at the service variables, and make sure there's no PORT in the railway UI
You're not supposed to be listening on port 80
Ah alright
Is this in the docs anywhere also can I ask?
This specific error message isn't in the docs, but the docs do tell you to listen on $PORT
And its building :)
Yep thanks aleks
Oh shiiit ah ok
Sorry I just started using Railway today like 3 hrs ago
No worries
np! welcome aboard.
Looks easier than spinning up and setting up a shite digitalocean droplet every time for my clients sites 😭
Thanks!
That is very true
Probably significantly less expensive as well.
Might even be free 😉
Well I pay 6 a month on the bottom tier
But I run into so many issues like ram etc 😭
Right now when setting up a new droplet I have to:
Update packages, install nvm, install node, install git, install mdb, configure it all etc
Quite a pain
But yeah wow it's working, thanks!
woohoo
Is the speed gonna be faster than a DO Droplet?
Like where is the nearest server gonna be if I'm in the UK?
they are in us west1
Ahh that isn't too good :(
so yeah increased latency since you likely has a droplet in your region
Yeah on the DO Droplet it's super fast
Like 10ms or something
Railway is easier to use for sure, but it's not that usable if it's not in the same region... is there going to be more region support soon?
pain 😭
current eta is end of q1 2023, but thats just an eta
Wait I'm a bit of a noob, when does Q1 end?
Oh so not that far away
but please dont get your hopes up, its purely an eta
Yeah ok
Ok well if by that time or close to that time Europe or London is added, I'll hop right aboard - but for now I think I might have to stay with DO and keep paining myself with NGINX configs etc 😭
Lmao talking about your competitor is illegal!!!
nah we are cool with fly
Fair enough :)
Well, if the EU/UK support comes I'll be coming right back ;)
But alright, thanks a lot - at least I don't have to use DO now :D
Have a lovely rest of your day @static yew and @calm osprey
thank you and you too!
https://hop.io is cool too
Hop enables you to deploy and scale high-bandwidth realtime apps with ease
Thanks! You too!
Oh my god @calm osprey fly.io has an outage but I didn't realise so I just tried setting up an app for testing on their platform for like an hour and it kept failing and that's why 😭
welp that sucks, guess you have to stay on your VPS for a little longer
and yes hop.io is cool but they only have 1 region (us east)
iirc they're getting more
so are we 😉
and there's also minimum which doesn't exist yet
fair point
^ that's why I recommended them
hey us-east is closer to uk than us-west tho
Yeah so as soon as you get Europe or UK support, I will instantly be moving over
But yeah my VPS is fine for now, it's just new clients will make me wanna cry when deploying (around an hour or 2 of unpaid DevOps work 💀)
I too have manually managed VPS's it's not fun
