#Most emotional electronic music you've listened to?

There's this notion that electronic music is devoid of feeling and emotion, probably to do with the fact that people aren't actually playing physical instruments. I think that's really stupid. What are some of the more emotional electronic songs you've listened to?

Mine are probably these two:

this song always fills me with a weird nostalgic feeling of christmas when i was a child

#

it’s a hard feeling to describe but it kinda feels like dread. its a great song with an upbeat attitude but i always feel like something is wrong whenever i hear it..

What do you exactly expect from “emotional”. Having a hardtime coming up with anything specific because everything has a feeling so it feels like anything works.

this is definitely not gonna be the greatest in-depth thinking but the first person i thought of that made 'emotional electronic' music was definitely avicii. i used to produce a lot of edm back then and he undoubtedly inspired most of those works (which are probably long gone now) as i always had wanted to let listeners simply feel, while also getting into the zone when it came to the musicality of a song. i believe he's one of many other e(d)m artists who have debunked that concept and rather proved it otherwise but that's just my two cents.

Ryuichi sakamoto dedicated this album over the feelings of his cancer returning

#

even without that context its a very bleak sounding album

its almost a collab album w basically all the greatest ambient artists

#

Dysonence, Tim Hecker, Grouper, Celer, Hakobune, Conv, Pausal

#

all worked on it

gilded coral
#

my point is that they didn't

narrow stag

o ok

gilded coral
#

thats what I've heard anyway

#

I think they're just sampled

#

it's a common occurrence on Spotify

#

tiny artists adding huge artists as featured

#

so they could show up in their "Appeared On" sections

#

it happened with merzbow, c418, and a bunch of other big names

I completely agree with you on Halcyon and On and On... in fact many songs from Orbital have that "emotional" aspect that leaves you reflecting on your life when you finish.

With that being said, I'm here to contribute some songs to the thread:

https://open.spotify.com/track/2CH4mc6qWAI3ejAdqpON9B?si=c2aabf5388a5407e
Orbital's "Belfast" is near the end of their 1st self-titled and I have always found this song to be so captivating after the duo basically destroys you with the big beat style of the 90s...

Squarepusher's "Tommib Help Buss" is a quick song off of Ultravisitor, a much more personal and down to earth album from Tom that makes me feel happy to be alive and grateful for the people and things around me... Definitely gives me christmas vibes whenever I play it

https://open.spotify.com/track/21Phj46KeUHOWyZW9A9b7P?si=1b4de617263949d7
Possibly Aphex Twin's most notable song to date outside of Avril 14th and On, Alberto Balsalm gives me empty shopping mall vibes and additionally gives me the reminder that everything will be okay and to always keep pushing forward despite whatever adversity that you have. Similar things can be said about #3 (as mentioned by Meapers)

Burial's magnum opus "Archangel" is definitely the definite sad track for me in terms of dubstep and reminds me to of course, never be alone and that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Autechre's "Garbage" EP is definitely one of their greatest releases to date and often goes unnoticed outside of the duo's unbelievable albums later in their career. "VLetrmx" is the last song on this EP and for a group notable for leaving emotion out of their music, it leaves me to reflect on my life and all the struggles that I've gone through along with where I've ended up now.

I wish that the rest of Ultravisitor was like Tommib, but it unfortunately isn't which is why that track stands out in particular on the album
