The BEST pga prop for round 1
Luke List Over 68.5 strokes
We don’t have much to go off of this week, the course has never been played, so I tried to find the most mispriced line based off the players around them.
Luke list is the worst projected golfer with a 68.5 line according to datagolf (also is worse than some of the 69 lines). The consensus also seems to be that the best golfers should be slightly favored to go under 68.5 strokes.
List is 120-1 this week, compared to some of his fellow 68.5 line golfers that are in the 20-40/1 range, that’s more than .5-1 strokes of a difference. We’re nearing the territory of if you had a head to head matchup with list and power/kitayama, the latter 2 would be almost 2-1 favorites, despite having the same line.
The morning group is gonna have consistently 5mph winds tomorrow, and lists late afternoon tee time has him in line to face entirely 8-14 mph winds. On a course that is very scoreable but can certainly punish you with the new setting and odd terrain, I think it’s fair to expect one or too really bad shots that can tank his score from a golfer with lots of highs and lots of lows that usually both show up during every round.
Lastly List is in terrible form, missing the cut in 5 of his last 6 events, only making it in a course he’s the defending champion on, while still having an uninspiring finish. Hes averaged 1.2 lost strokes PER ROUND over his last 20 rounds, and that’s while playing in mostly 2nd tier bad field pga events.
There is no reason for this line to not be 69.5.
Harder to put into words golf stuff than nfl/esports bc it’s usually based off a lot less concrete stuff but I don’t think list will have the same line as these guys tomorrow
