Hi, folks!
This is my first post on this server. Is it the correct branch to post the question about the best choice of the hardware combinaton for a printer?

Requirements are:

  1. 2 toolboards on 2 IDEX printheads via CAN interface (tmc2209, nema14 or nema17). May be Fly-RRF-36?
  2. 1 external driver for Nema23 on heavy Y-axis, wired direct or via CAN interface. May be DM542?
  3. Main board with 5 drivers for two X and three Z motors (tmc2209, nema17). It has as to have CAN interface to connect to toolboards and external driver mentioned above. Big Dipper?
  4. SBC connection for camera and remote shutdown etc.
  5. Original Duet3D parts are not considered, all kinds of clones are welcome.
  6. Preferred are those which support original rrf3, just to avoid surprises and headache. It’s gonna be a serious machine. It should be stable. ))
  7. Cheaper is better. But reliability (see p. 6) first.
    Thank you!

since you want a nema23, how about the duet3 6hc (clone) for mainboard? sbc is unnecessary.

A super5 pro with an external driver would do, but stm32H7 chips are only running 3.4+ and SBC mode is soon to be added to 3.5rc+, it's relatively cheap, I agree with pfn SBC is unnecessary, you could add a camera and setup remote shutdown in other ways.

well, you don't have to run sbc mode

#

you can still use an sbc, but sbc mode itself is pointless

other than improved transfer speeds/connecting directly for ethernet

#

super5pro and use a 5160 for the port that needs more current

#

don't need external driver

Ok, I pull back and remove the requirement for sbc

#

super5pro had 5 drivers. I connect two fly-rrf-36 via CAN. How to I connect the 8-th driver?

modern glade
#

you need 6 drivers? super8pro then

#

you don't have to populate all 8

#

price wise, super8pro and super5pro are about the same

#

just one supports up to 8, the other 5

ok. thank you! now the important question. I have no experience with original rrf and with gloomyandy ports. I don't know how much more difficult dealing with ports is. So are ports limited somehow? If yes, what would be the cheapest solution on components supporting original rrf?

GG @mortal hinge, you just advanced to level 1!

no limitations, other than being a fork (not-canon)

some things like sbc mode not being available on h7 boards yet, for example
