I think you are referring to '73 because of the oil crisis and the government throttling the auto industry into making "economical" cars that were better for the environment. The only thing that happened in '72 is that most car manufacturers in the US fully switched to net horsepower ratings. Gross SAE HP ratings would be the bare engine's power. So no mufflers, no alternators, no emissions tech or anything. No external accessories at all. The engines between '72 and '73 stayed pretty much the same, apart from the very laissez-faire way that horsepower was calculated in '72

The official devs use a lot of the premade smart mats that come with substance painter. They use metal scratched for skidplates and I believe the metal brushed for most of the metal shit. So it should be hella easy to texture them.

Yes, this is one thing I must agree with. Having the dials seperated by a piece of plastic with a sort of vaporwave pattern on it would feel more like a car of the era, as little screens would be realistically cheaper, and save space. The whole screen in your design would be like a small TV, with the big boxy part behind it. Again, just a suggestion. The original design does look very futuristic.
