[WIP] Subaru XT

The Subaru XT was a coupe produced from 1985 to 1991, sold in the US and general export markets as the XT, in Japan as the Alcyone and in Australia and New Zealand as the Vortex. The XT was available in either FWD or AWD and was originally powered by either an EA82 or a turbocharged EA82T H4 until 1988 when the turbo was dropped and a new 6 cylinder model was added powered by the ER27 H6. This model was sold in the US as the XT6, in Japan as the Alcyone VX and in Australia and New Zealand as the Vortex ZZ6. The XT is known for being likely the weirdest Subaru ever produced with a boat load of quirky features including pop up headlights, an asymmetric steering wheels, digital gauges. It designed primarily with aerodynamics in mind with every little thing being considered from the flush door handles to the plastic air flap in front on of the wheels to the depth of the trunk. This lead to a drag coefficient of 0.29, the lowest of any car in production at the time of its release.

The XT is my favourite car so I've always had plans to make it and have actually attempted to a few times before but I never really had the skills till now, perfect timing to make it after the RUSH too because all the coding for things like the digidash and adjustable ride hieght is already done to base it on. This mod will probably be my most in depth mod so far and I will try be as accurate to the real car as I can without having the real thing in front of me to use as reference (unless I buy one while making it 🙃). Nearly every production part available to XT irl will be included, factory and custom, along with my own ideas.

i like having fictional and real cars mixed, its like the world if i also got the chance to be a car manufacturer back in the day and thinking about competition and whatnot

but things are cooler if they actually exist

like when I play any car game the cars I usually use are the ones I have had experiences with, and because I have sat in one or seen one irl they have a sort of sentimental-ness to them

true, one of the reasons why I prefer lore vehicles that somewhat resemble specific IRL models, as coming up with a truly original vehicle, and coming up with the history and all is not all that easy, it is also fun to parody certain IRL cars GTA style, as well as adding bodystyles/engines that never existed, but should probably have😛

though there are other ways you could go about that, such as simply having a debadged model with generic chassis code for the name, like a lot of old Japanese video games did

the brumby uses torsion bar suspension afaik and the xt has coilovers in the rear, the front should be the same

the real = free lore = paid I doubt is in the literal sense, rather LJs original creations will be paid, whereas mods depicting real life vehicles are free

but hopefully you get the idea this is considered a 'real' car, despite whatever badging it may have and will be free, as opposed to the 'lore' cars like the RUSH and Signia

same car, but for export markets, they changed the name for some reason

and yeah in the japanese market the car retained the Alcyone nameplate through its whole life

it was supposed to end production in 89, and thats also why theres almost no 1990 ones

Some sort of bad news about this mod, im gonna hold off on it until i buy a real xt

1. My wagon engine is an EA71 which doesnt have the same suspension as EA82 cars so i cant really use it for scanning
2. Im gonna but an xt soon anyway since its my dream car and im moving to a place with more space for more cars, my driveways full lol, so why not wait till then
3. Itll mean everything will be almost identical to the real car which i would love including sounds

hopefully 3 or 4 months

doesn't mean i wont be making a free real car though, i have something lined up to do in the mean time once the dynamos done

a smaller scoped real car, somewhere between this and the silvia in terms of planned parts and configs

ill reveal when i start modelling it
