so by "actual transparency" i'm referring to the premulalpha thing
disabling that doesn't prevent you from using an opacity mask
you just need to specify "alphaTest": true in the "main" section of the material below the stages

has anyone faced the issue with the texture cooker that instead of converting your PNG into a DDS BC7 it'll convert it to a DDS BC3?
it's converting the texture fine, except for these blocky artifacts around edges, I tried manually exporting to DDS (BC7), but then it's not compressed at all, and the colors are washed out (I'm guessing it's reading it as linear instead of sRGB when it is sRGB).
I"m also guessing that it's using heavy compression because the DDS file is almost 15 times smaller than the one exported from blender
I recommend you to join the official modding discord. The people there are more mature and knowledged to answer any such more in depth questions

Then you might have to do it manually (but in the materials still put in .PNG! That fixed my colors being washed out once)
You can see that vanilla materials reference .PNG textures even tho no vehicle has them like that

it did help to detect the format better and stop logging errors like when I had ".dds", but I did patch work for now lol

the color textures can be pretty weird, i usually darken the material a bit inside the material editor
Have you used the in-game material editor? That might tell you what's going on, it recently got info log/warnings

I see now. So they are basically linked together? I will admit, as I play on my MacBook. The repository definitely makes installing mods a super easy process. I did do ONE mod from modland which I was warned about so I haven’t touched it since then. Luckily the mod has not caused any issues for me after over a month of installation.

Zeits graphics tool is okay, might not be the best option for lower end pcs idk.
Otherwise not much graphically, you can get reshade, but its controversial whether it looks better, and it does affect performance

Working a lot better now. Sorted out the majority of the bugs and it can be enabled on a per-object basis. This video showcases drop in polys and draw calls. Can't seem to get over 60 fps with fraps.
unless you do some custom scripts. The only way is using occlusion zones, but it only works on terrain
You could always have a far distant LOD be a microscopic plane, not quite the same but still

The issue is not the distant cases but occluded objects 😞 if i have a giant tall building hiding a lot of street signs even if they are correctly instances the polycount goes up and performance decreases. Although i can also make waterplanes reduce their planar reflections to save performance too
As now i have like 3 issues being the creation of cubemaps in a grid pattern in various tod and dynamic change to that cubemap - i assume both of those would require some lua stuff
Occlusion culling (I assume that could even use depth data to be done idk anything about this)
dynamic enablement of lights and changing material values when night
All of those would require scripting i assume. And I don't know a droplet of it so it will be a challenge

you can define a "slots" section in the main jbeam file/section that all the cars' jbeam files/sections can inherit using "slotType"

i'm sure beam doesn't assign core per car, but from what i've heard/ read over the last 10 years is that beam has problem using multiple cores for same car.
Well yea i mean your running physics sims at 2000fps per car if you try stuffing multiple on the same core it doesnt like it. especially if you have a shit cpu like i do lol

Hey all, I managed to get some custom meshes in for the AgentY dummy mod, but when inspecting the jbeams ingame, they are still using the dummy/stuntman beams. I can't seem to import them into blender to edit them either. Does anyone have any advice?

the usual process is to make a high poly model and then bake the details as texture onto a low poly model

The custom mesh and existing jbeams don't particularly align, so it causes tears in the mesh and strange deforms

this is a very basic quick video that shows what it is. But on a basic cube. Its a bit more complicated on more complicated objects as you have to UV unwrap them good, and you can run into various issues. This vid only shows normal map baking.

you obviously won't bake the engine to a cube, you will bake it to a much lower poly engine. But this video was very to the point of what baking is, thats why i linked it

things like engines are hard surface modelling, you don't really use sculpt for that

Why am i asking this? Because i am working on a project using flowgraph in order to create a custom mission. But i need help in a specific part which is the mission objectives. I have asked everywhere and i could not find a further answer which lead me to a huge road block of my project 😔... Is there a proper way to insert a modded vehicle (more of a prop but I'd guess it should work in a similar way since it's defined as a vehicle) in natural traffic generation (so it getting loaded and unloaded properly)?
I wanted to have a specific vehicle spawn like 5% of the time (with the percentage being adjustable in my UI app or at least have ability to toggle the spawnability of it) and tried getting map nodes (map.getMap().nodes) and then finding a node N meters ahead of player and spawning the vehicle on it (with core_vehicles.spawnNewVehicle()). This ended up causing stuttering every time I tried spawning one (could be just inefficient finding of a spawn position on my end) and even though I then used gameplay_traffic.insertTraffic() it still didn't despawn naturally nor did I see new ones getting spawned in. In another attempt I tried modifying a traffic group and calling gameplay_traffic.setupTraffic() after and that did spawn one/some at first but then after driving around for like 10 minutes I didn't see my vehicle get spawned again even once while default ones were despawning and spawning.

I’ve narrowed it down to “if a config uses a vanilla wheel, it WONT spawn the mod tires. If it uses a modded wheel, it will spawn the modded tires”
Figured it out. Beamng was just being stupid, telling me had the tire mod when, in fact, I did not
Doesn’t explain why a different mods tire isn’t working but that one I assume is just being tricky rn with all the recent additions to that mod

As long as its a power of 2 resolution it should be fine. Check the material editor to see what the skin.material shows

I'd guess that front frame crossmember isn't liking the new frame for some reason. I assume you can't move the nodes because of tge suspension mounts so maybe try reducing beam damp on some beams there and it will go away

It also helps to turn on beam visulisation and put the game in slowmotion until you see in what direction they are jittering in, that usually shows what beams are at fault

Checkout /lua/vehicle/particlefilter.lua thats how the game spawns particles when a node connects with the ground

one benefit of kissMP is that it goes directly into mod folder, so its very easy to install and delete, and i think it doesn't break each update

yeah, surprisingly i could handle it even with a weak pc, but everything had to be dropped to lowest tho, and one was running 30fps and other 60fps

Hey guys I have an issue where on the BeamNG Website my config pack has all the configs from the 2 updates, but when I get it from the ingame repo and unpack the file it only has the configs from the first update, any idea why?

Yes uhh like 2 weeks ago I posted an update and i've been getting word that the config pack is missing some configs sooo i decided to test it myself by removing my original vehicle files and it turns out despite it saying the mod is in the 1.1 update it only has the configs from the 1.0 update

For the server you can use windows media protocol or whatever its called to get song title name and duration
