how do the anti-lag sounds work in beam?
i made a mod for the cherrier i3 that has anti lag and the anti lag functions but it doesnt produce the popping noises

i went to the engine file and wrote the whole new engine thing stuff

so, if i make a new engine file, i just have to go and move it to "mods" folder right?
not really
you'll need a folder in your mods folder called "unpacked", inside that goes any unzipped mods. so in unpacked, create a folder called whatever you want, for example "Breeks Parts", in that, create a "vehicles" folder, then in that a folder for whatever the codename for the vehicle you're editing is. for example for the d series, its "pickup" then in there you can put your new jbeam file
okey so if i do all that in the exact way. then i name the folder "bolide" i just have to slap the .jbeam file saing the whole engine stats?
oh also seems i duplicated the car files, im truly stupid somehow

this isn't the best structure, but I'd suggest watching it first, then trying yourself whilst looking at time stamps to get what you need. If there's requirements for it, I can make follow up videos too.

That saves everything you change when modding a car yes. And other stuff like car configuration files. Clear cache, and it will delete everything that may be causing problems in the whole “current” folder. If I were you, I would clear cache, and then after, copy and paste your whole current folder somewhere else, then reinstall the game. Then you can put the current folder back in after and itll have all your settings and configs

Yes. Backup your whole current folder somewhere. Then reinstall, and then put back in the current folder, and your settings will be back

Okay so there is a problem now the bison suspension is such that wheels are not spawning in the proper place . Can anyone tell me where to chnage in the suspension jbeam

there's a few reasons for why this will happen. 1 is nodeOffset which is on its slot in the parent part, and 2 is if those nodes are defined again in a child part.
There's other reasons why, but those are normally the main reasons

Um mostly just need to organize everything and make it more readable. You can currently genereat a full jbeam with just a few options ticked but its kinda roughgt and convoluted

Need help from someone who knows map making! Having an issue.
So I made a new map using BeamNG Level Cleanup program to copy and rename East Coast USA to my map name so I could use those assets and textures. I have 100s of hours in this map now and I am to the point of cleanup.
I went to change the info.json file and now it's broken. Everything is the same, all I did was change the description, features, suitablefor, added my custom spawn point, and changed the preview pics.
Didn't change anything aside from the info.json and now my map is showing the grey missing preview image and only has default spawn point.
Before I changed the info.json, there were the stock ECUSA spawn points. I just renamed highway to mine and edited that single spawn point in the info.json.
Any ideas?

Guys I'm new to modding in beamng. Is there a good way to create a new Bruckell Race wheels set in a different color? (Bronze)
I tried changing the DDS files in Gimp, but just can't get a good results. Either the color is off, the roughness or something else, but it doesn't look good. Was wondering if there is an easier way or just need to get better at Gimp
save as .color.png, let the game convert it to dds
you are probably just exporting it wrong
i was exporting it as dds - i'll try to save is as png and see if that gives better results

is it more of their crash physics or their actual modeling/sounds
sounds are good because they're made by someone else, the 3d modeling is poor for beamng standards and the deformation quality is also poor
the models are way too high poly (because they're ripped off games such as csr and carx)

the s650 is pretty bad, and it on top of that it also destroys fps
the fps booster also makes you unable to use any kind of openable so
i run 400 on high graphics* so i wouldn't mind going to medium/ low if i have to

I’m trying to make a fender exit on the bastion using the in game architecture and it’s throwing me for a loop bro. I’ve modeled everything already out just getting the exhaust smoke and everything to come from the right place. It’s really weird the way the exhaust fit that car is set up
I have a R7-7800x3d, 7900xtx, 96gigs of ram, and like 7tb of m.2 space so it makes sense why you’re having issues compared to me
spawning 5 t series in gives me comparable performance loss to one rr car

it needs to make a correct path from engine header node to the last one
thats what i struggle with, the idea was to have the dump come stright off the turbo and point down
also if your enigne has 2 header nodes it might be complicated
unless you have 2 exits
the game sometimes bugs doing 2to1
i wanted to delete it but last time i did it i broke it
the direction the beam between the 2 last exhaust nodes in the chain is what controls the direction
so should i get rid of one of the header nodes to make it easier?

Guys, I've managed to create a new variant of the Bruckell Race wheels which is Bronze - ish. I got the new files in the mod folder, so I've not overwritten any game files, but now all the Bruckell Race wheel variants are bronze.
I have created new jbeam files for the bronze wheels i made, but I don't know how to make them use the custom DDS files. So far I've tried renaming the DDS files from bruckell_wheel_04a_b.color.dds to bruckell_wheel_04a_bronze_b.color.dds. That does fix the original in-game variants, but the new one I made doesn't recognise that it needs to use that name. (im guessing)

even if that specific texture is from another game, native beam textures work the same way
all the parts that share a material (light glass, light internals, engine parts, chassis/body, interior, etc.) are uv unwrapped onto a single square/rectangular area
and the textures are usually "baked" instead of drawn on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texture_mapping#Baking
Well I modeled the light reflectors in a realistic way so the emissive bulbs would make the light reflections look realistic, I also made normal maps for both the headlights and twilight's and baked both the lighting in the housing and glass, I then also baked the glass basecolor with the same technique but with no emissive bulbs and a light gray environment so the unlit glass isn't completely one color, since beaming doesn't have refraction, you need to use this method to make it look like that

Is there an easier way to find files in the game? Currently what I've been doing is just look at all the files and folders under content and hope to find what I'm looking for. Wondering if there is an easier way to find a specific part. For example I'm currently looking for the transmission on the bastion engine.
It does say this on the slots section of the engine ["bastion_transmission","bastion_transmission_8A", "Transmission"] but idk where to go from there
You can open the vechile editor with control + f11 and then click apps and then static then vehicle details i believe then it will show where every jbeam is and model related to it.

Can 100% relate. Probably comes from the fact that the game is complex by nature but the devs try their hardest to make modding easy. So some parts guide you along, while other parts just have to be how they are
I don't know any lua so I usually arrange the slots so that they can't possibly both be installed (as long as I don't depend on vanilla parts). Also if lua uninstalls parts that will also confuse people I think
You can also use components to change one of the jbeams to at least not cause instability (like moving nodes or changing beam values when both are installed). Depends on what your parts actually do ofc

Hey, so I had the delusional idea to create a mod, which allows for a vehicle to adopt multiple Body Styles. I think I found the correct files I had to change and the correct lines of code, but when checking if the mod actually works, literally nothing had changed in-game... I got to the point where I forced an error in the lua file inside the mod and nothing happened in Beam either. Obviously the game isn't reading my files, but does anybody know why?
btw I checked names of the files and they match 1:1, also this is the path to the modded files: current\mods\unpacked\dimbo_multibody\lua\ge\extensions\ui\vehicleSelector
if you are a begginer, i reccomend using VSC since that has a extension that has proper syntax highlighting for jbeam files
or at least use JSON syntax in np++

For example the ETK 800-Series has both Sedan and Wagon bodies. In the vehicle selector it appears only when you click the filter "Wagon". My idea is that it appears with both Sedan and Wagon filters

That's what I initially thought, but adding an array with "Sedan", "Wagon" does not place the vehicle under both Sedan and Wagon categories, instead it creates a new field in the filters called table: 0x02... and then the position of the array in the files.
But either way, I had just not noticed that the 800 is there, and I am sorry

Thats because of the scenetree hierarchy. Objects created within sim groups are relative to them. So when you create your scene and then want to prefab a certain part that is not in the root group then it wont remember the scenetree. The solution is to add it as a child to the same place where you had created the prefab from

I recommend finding a similar mod/default UI app that display similar info and picking apart how it worked.
Although something like the brake thermal app might be easier to reverse engineer if you are just starting out.
