Hey, I'm hoping some one can help. I'm trying to increase the number of large parcels that spawn, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what to modify.
I've been digging around the warehouses.deliveryParcels.json but everything I try either breaks it, or does nothing. Despite copying values from an item that spawns tons, I get none.

i need help with jbeaming, i'm using the jbeam addon for blender for some collision fixing, although, when i move the nodes down onto the mesh (lets say the hood for example), it works but in-game the hood gets deformed. i think it could be self collision? or soemthign else i'm not quite sure
and when i move it away from the hood, (to the point where it's not even close to it), the hood goes back to normal and doesn't deform

How can I prevent letting suspension arms mesh disfugure, when theyre essentially just a beam between the chassis and the hub? Currently I have their groups set as hub and chassis, since I couldnt think of another solution
Got it to work for a wishbone, making the nodes on the hub also the nodes of the wishbones, seems to need 3 nodes.

no, mod_info is just for stuff from the repo
The folder and everything in it gets generated when you upload any mod to the repo. It's not needed but contains stuff like mod description and thumbnail, which you upload there seperatly

Is anyone experienced with the jbeam of the steering systems? I currently have a node on my front hub, and the outer part of my steering rack as a node on the chassis (for both sides ofcourse), but I have no clue how to make the steering work properly, and vanilla vehicles arent helping either
I tried setting up rails between the steering chassis nodes, and have 2 nodes connected to the hub glide over those, but couldnt get it to work. Probably skill issue

Heavily depends on what kind of steering linkage your car has, do any of the vanilla cars use a similar setup? Torsion hydros are what are used to actually control the steering of the car, dont think ive seen sliding rails ever get used for this
Difficult to give specific advice with no pictures of the actual linkage setup + examples of whats not working

Thing is they all have subframes
the bruckell nine has a very straight-forward easy to understand steering system, though i doubt your vehicle is solid axle so it cant just be copied over

Hi guys, my goal is to make a mod that implements a calculation of the electric drivetrain using actual currents and voltages. I think currently the electric drivetrain is based on a given torque-rpm table that is provided in the vehicles electricMotor jbeam file (correct me if im wrong).
Im pretty new to this game, but im familiar with coding. Does any one of you know if a lua extension is the right way to approach this? or do you have a better method that i havent explored yet? 🙂

ok so a new powertrain part would be in e.g. "sbr_electric_motor.jbeam"? just so that im on the right track. I thought I'd have to go lower level for that. Don't the files like electricMotor.lua grab the torque table from the jbeam files? And is there a page on the BeamNG docs highlighting all variables that I can use in that engine context?

Hey guys, there's one value I wanna change on a car. particularly on a sway bar. So I need to make my own part that doesn't overwrite the default part but goes in the same slot. What else do I need but the actual part? As far as I can see on the suspension that it goes onto it is referenced at "slots" and anything that would go on a "bx_swaybar_R" slot would be visible. But I added a swaybar jbeam with only name and the changed value but it's not visible.

Never was for me usually since the car spawns with the ref node in the center and some cars ref nodes are off center plus it exports too high because of the suspension on it. At least when i was using it.

all these should be renamed to bx_aftermarket.skin.t6_silver as that is what you defined for globalSkin in the jbeam
this should be changed to vehicles/bx/t6/t6.color.png as that is the file path for and name of your skin

I've redone the oiling system since it wasn't accurate ( your dry sump should not be on top of your engine), I have also remodeled the oil tank, added a catch can and a whole vacuum system for said oil vapours, along with new headers and an ITB system, the old headers are scrapped, since they don't work with the oil pump placement, so I will also need to touch up the turbo stuff
since version 5.0, Blender no longer supports DAE import/export. Maybe I'm missing something and the developers have released some kind of add-on for this?

Looked at how the game does it. You can also look on google and there are some forum posts from a while ago with instructions on how to do them at least the beam side. The beam side is easy. Chopping the audio into usable chunks is the hard part.

Ive been having trouble exporting my own models to beamng. mainly that textures are ignored or changed by beamng, i have a dark green material with max specularity in blender. in beamng its almost just black, and another material which is metal gets ignored completely by beamng so it just shows up as blank, any tips? first two images are blender, last one beamng (for some reason the insulators have no texture at all but ik how to fix that)

BEcause mods take a long time and most paid modders wich are the only ones who are actaully going to do commisions either have a way to contact them about commisions or dont do them at all as you have expactations and time frames. Commisions in beam are very very rare and anyone claiming to know a whole server who do commisions is a scammer because that doesnt exist. Its just well known in the modding sphere that anyone offerring commisions is a scammer.

So goto it’s material editor
Press F11, Go into the material editor, And just remove the texture that shows "no texture", It'll take a good minute to find the part but I think this should put you on the right track.
Oh and make sure to select the car once youre in the material editor

I extracted the rar then convert to a zip then drag that zip into current>mods loc. With the rest of my mods are in zip files But that seems to not work.

As far as I know everything is applied with world reflections already. I think its just a case of me using the wrong colour shades when converting materials, but it only seems to affect certain materials weirdly. I have converted the interior to PBR and that looks fine using the same method, but I am using GIMP so things may be set up differently in that I have no idea about as well, i'm not sure what to change though

If you are doing it via material editor, scroll to the bottom and there should be a selector menu with (no reflections, cubemap select, dynamic cubemap)

@stuck lava best way to make sure everything is up to spec is to check vanilla materials, make sure the roughness and metallic factor are set to 1 (otherwise the texture won't influence correctly) and to check vanilla textures for metallic and roughness values, or to get proper estimates of how they should be
Oh also if you are bored, if you double click one of the sliders that can only do 0-1 you can put any value in it, it generates some interesting results

Yeah it changes colour shades when the reflections are disabled so it is applied. Regarding comparing to vanilla textures, I think that's what the problem is as due to this mod having some pretty strange textures in some files compared to vanilla textures and the fact I'm using GIMP and not photoshop (presuming that's what they use as its what's used in the PBR conversion tutorial) some things seem to be done differently so I can almost never get textures looking exactly like how they look in the tutorial. I tried converting the materials on another old mod and had exactly the same issue which also makes me think its something I've done with the textures rather than something with the original mod itself. I see what you mean by the interesting results also
Remember to use the texture cooker
Color you save as .color.png, black and white as .data.png and normals as .normal.png
The game generates them in the proper format and saves them in user folder/temp/vehicles/yourmod
I already had all the .color.png etc stuff set up but I decided to try and use the textures it generated, it loads a lot quicker but the issue is still there. I also did a load of different variations of materials to see what that did but that just made it worse. I noticed theirs also an issue of the black plastic pieces looking faded out also. I must have done some part of the conversion very wrong lol

First you gotta make a folder for the substance textures u exported
I like to make it in modfile_vehicles_modvehicle_textures. In there i then put a folder called whatever material i made, and inside that i put the material pngs or whatever
Then
Ingame, go to like gridmap or whatever, and open world editor. Then open a material editor window. In that, press add new material, put in the name for the material, the name of the material in blender, then setup where the material json file will be. I put it in the same folder as the texture pngs
Then, create the material
Then, in the tab for that material, switch it to v1.5 pbr, then go and map all the material pngs. Base colour, metallic, normal, roughness, and ambient occlusion. I think thats all u need. I like to turn metallic up to max for metal. Then, go down to the advanced settings tab or whatever its called, turn on reflections to level, then click receive shadows, and i like to enable double sided too
Then press the save button next to the material selection thingo

if you run a custom model that allows you to add extra context, you can probably shove a boatload of documentation and examples and it would probably work better
that's what i've done, but it's something about this library specifically that seems to make it hallucinate lol

Very random, but does anyone know if the Base Detail Map on a material can have transparency? I'm trying to add a logo to a wheel, it has proper alpha and everything, but it works like a multiply blend mode thing, disregarding white and darkening the mat where it's black (because the transparent part is technically black). The logo itself is white.
The documentation states that the base detail map is RGBA, but it doesn't seem to be the case

put your map zip files into either the mods folder if they dont show like that than place that zip into your repo folder directly this should fix your maps not showing up
Putting a zip in repo changes litterally nothing lol. IF it doesnt work in the regular mod folder it wont work in repo either.

Its easiest to have the model at a basic 90 degree angle with the center exactly at 0, 0, 0, then use the rotation/translation in the props section to move it where its actually supposed to be
Its what vanilla cars mostly do
The model will attempt to rotate from its center point, which is probably 0, 0, 0 if you applied transforms, which is why it goes so far away from the car in the screenshot
