@twilit ivy Yeah they actually had the trashcan as a static prop for a while. Then they added it as a jbeam for the pigeon and made it standalone. Mine is better tho lol. Once I can figure out the closing mechanism - I’m gonna give it some better pbr textures and call it done.

no you need a good internet connection and seeing what computer you have i doubt you have more than 100mbps, and you also cant install external mods or keep the mods you installed between sessions so it wouldnt be good

I’m tryna engine swap the etki engine into the grand marshal, I’ve got engine and trans showing, it drives, I’m at the stage of tinkering with nodes and getting the engine alignment right however my driveshaft has turned invisible at some point and I’m not sure how to resolve this? I hope I’m not too vague with my description if so I apologise

Hey guys I am fixing configurations of a modpack so I am asking do I need to unpack the mod pack for saving and everything or it does save automatically without unpacking
its good practice (and faster) to do any changes while its unpacked
Actually I unpacked an old public mod pack and it only unpacked few cars
You don’t need it unpacked, but either way any changes you make whilst its unpacked or not will save in your userfolder and youll have to merge it in your mod folder

Since I am updating the cars from a mod pack , so will overwrite save the mod updates in the mod pack or will I have to send it to the mod pack

I mean I am fixing some configurations of broken mods . Now I overwrite the fixed ones ober original ones. So does it get saved in the mod pack

So.
If you want to put new configs in a mod, make them ingame, copy the config file and preview file from your userfolder>modname into your userfolder>mods>unpacked>mod>vehicles>modname. Then they will be in the mod

Look its like there is a config of a police of Chevy corvette which had no tires. I fixed it and wrote the same name as the old one in the search bar of config and did overwrite. Now the fixed one appeared int my user configuration. So is the updated one saved in the m or do I have to to take the one from the user mod to mod pack folder

Hello there guys 🙂 after playing since day one and lurking the forums for years, I've started modding a bit.
Currently I'm working on a skin for LJ's Signia, but unfortunately I'm having issues with the base color map and after hours of trial and error I can't figure out where the issue is. Some advice would be greatly appreciated 🙂
So onward to the actual issue.. For some reason the basecolor map is slightly affected by the primary and secondary color (tertiary color doesn't matter appearently) but I don't know why. UVs are set correctly, materials look fine, color values on the masking layer are all clean white. Do you have any tips?

Honestly it looks great. My main hope would be to import (into blender) vehicle GLTF exports (from the game) and then re-export them as 3D models much more easily

So why does a lightbar disapier when i move it? i have one of maxies lightbars on the t series and before i move it i see it but once i move the nodes it just disaperas. i do still see the lights and all but no bar.
Are you moving the mesh and the jbeam at the same time? If the mesh is to far away they like to act up
You can use pos arguments on the flexbodies. Look at the docs im not on my pc rn but its explained pretty well.

See how the lighbarmount high has pos arguments use those for all the flexbodies and move them to line up with the jbeam after it is aligned.
So use the pos in flex bodys and move that into the nodes than make final adjustments?

i’ve been messing with suspension tuning and noticed camber/caster in beam seem to be applied by moving the lower arm pivots instead of through the strut top/steering axis like irl. i checked vanilla cars and they do the same. is that just the standard way beam handles alignment, or is there a proper way to set it up more realistically? sorry if i'm missing something/misunderstood anything

its the position of your nodes thats the problem
you need to move them

anyone know how i can change supercharger smoke location? i added a supercharger to an engine that would normally not have a supercharger and only uses turbos, and the supercharger works properly but the smoke comes out of the hood instead of the exhausts

make sure the parts slot cata names are matching what the engine sub selection is searching for

"Please pack your mods inside specific folder instead of main zip file. For example "/vehicles/pickup". If you leave files in main zip folder or add another folder before "/vehicles", your mod won't work properly."

guys I need some help with the skin making, I did the steps from beamNG documentation all but the texture cooker. My skin and material appears in the material window, but is not related to the car so it does not apply. How can I solve that?
folders are correct, checked twice. So it should appear as a car material. I can select the skin from vehicle part config
by what I understand the skin is not applying to the car, the car is using the main skin even if the part configuration my custom skin is selected. Must be something with the json or jbeam file

in the console I'm seeing the error:

You need to get the model from the legrans dae and place it in your mod
ah, ok, for some reason I thought I could get it to reference it directly from the game's files without needing to copy it

So you just click the object you want then hit file export then dae. In the right side menu you would click selection only and then in the geometry tab click triangulate and apply modifiers.

That’s it. one node is roughly a kg and u change them but it can cause instability like shaking or explode if u change one single one to much. u can check total value if u do crtl+n till there total weight in top left.

Tbh I’m not to sure. it is 100% possible but some of the beam values might need changing but depends on how many parts u want to do. like a lot of parts with lil valves changed eached or some main parts and a lot more lowerd but first option would probably be longer

Hey guys, trying my hardest to get the automatic vehicle tester running, because I have some configs I'm trying to make .info files for from a modded vehicle, and I for the life of me CANNOT get this to work.
put both of these in your userfolder (i.e. directly inside current)
edit the json to refer to the vehicle and config you want
then launch the game, and as soon as it loads into the main menu, press ~ to open the console and paste the command from the txt

nah it's all good, the same vehicles/(vehicle) folder in your user folder where the configs themselves are saved

though in the interest of reducing mod size, you can choose to scale them as small as 500x281 (vanilla thumbnail resolution) and make them jpegs too

assuming you're just taking screenshots instead of using the showroom's thumbnail generator, you can just resize them in an external program like paint dot net or gimp (or even ms paint, but its jpeg compression won't be the most efficient)

Can anyone help me out? trying to make a custom livery for the d-series, but when i try loading it in the game, it doesn't show. Just shows a basic color that I can change. it shows up as the correct name and all is selectable liveries, but just doesn't load anything

the color map works off RGB
first color is R, second is G, third is B
so having grey doesnt mean much to the game

Best to use blender to grab the mesh of that engine into that other car .dae then use the same jbeam of that first car where you grabbed the mesh from into that new car and yeah chatgpt can help too

you are using the UV map of the bx body so you need to adjust your spoiler to it ( basically pick a part thats just plain color like the trunk hood doors or whatever and scale the uv to 0 and put it there)

ok the first thing is to apply all transforms, just make sure its all set and then if it doesnt work, try using the node offset in the jbeam file

you need to cut along the edges of the mesh and then join it in those same edges, otherwise the thing will not properly shade

How do I get dynamic mirrors to render further away from the vehicle
First pic has the camera further away from the car second pic is closer
im pretty sure its done on purpose because dynamic mirrors are very performance heavy

well checking the 2 lua files that are called mirror, they dont contain anything related to distance so overriding this is probably not possible or even worth the hassle
especially because it just halfs the fps in some scenarios so your mod would be unusable for a lot of people

Most of a jbeam controllers slots and all. And a material generator that auto exports all the images you used as png and makes the mat file for you full principledbsdf support
