need to fix the uv map in a 3d modelling program
the material might have a suffix like .001 in the blender material menu. open the material menu and find the correct material, dont just manually remove the .001 as that will break the other meshes
the name is good
need more context, not sure exactly what is wrong as it appears to be several issues
that is the mesh, not the material
no worries, should be a quick one to fix. just correct the material and export again

That guy's videos are really good! I suggest taking fillman86's tutorial and BeamNG Boy's tutorial too, because that's exactly what I did!
this isn't the best structure, but I'd suggest watching it first, then trying yourself whilst looking at time stamps to get what you need. If there's requirements for it, I can make follow up videos too.

I have a mesh that basically forms a closed in room as part of the map. I set the environment to night time and I'm trying to use point lights to light it up but it looks really weird. The paint on the vehicles seems really flat and the shading seems wrong. What do I need to do to make it look better?
as opposed to how it looks if I set it to day but reduce the brightness of the sunsky and set it to include in lightmap:

hello guys, im new i want to learn modding vehicles because of my dream cars that are not in game or mods and believe that other players would like it, but im stupid and dont know how to do models, coding or something else, i want to ask if someone could help me with it and by time i could learn and do it by myself, if someone would like to help dm me please i would appreciate it

yea its comlicated to get started if you have no knoledge at all but it comes quick once you get the hang of it

Nope. It seems that outside of the model the thing floats fine. I realised I had a part of the mesh covering the water that was hidden in blender. The normal was flipped so didn't see it from the top. Vehicle was colliding with that and sinking but after deleting that part of the mesh it is fine now.

well for the jbeami believe i used blender to move it to it's new location and same for the mesh then i changed the nodes that were missing and changed or added them to the rear
so the back is almost identical to the front

the only nodemove and offset was the nodemove in hte frame for suspension and in the hub for trackwidth

In game it looks like theres a blurry sticker or the back of a iphone intop of the phone but i know its not supposed to look like that

go in blender and see if those faces are specificly assigned to that material
Its just a very dark shade of the color

Yea there were 2 addons, the main jbeam and the second one, but only 1 of them would import

You find it in the materials file for your mod, which you've no doubt made yourself. It's the glow values for a particular material - you can change the colour and lower the glow there.

We have a sphere which is combined with the vehicle bounding box. It's set up in one of the camera.lua files. Search for the function isCameraInside(player, camPos)

You can calculate that manually in vehicle lua if needed as well

I tried to create a map, I wanted to use a pixel-perfect texture something like 16x16 pixels (like minecraft), but it was blurry. I also tried modifying the material’s .json file by adding the line:
"filterMode": "Point"
but it didn’t work to.
soi, i upscale the texture to 4K, but this drastically decreased performance.
Do you have any other solutions?
i want to put all my skins in the same mod folder so i just have 1 mod for all of the skins. do i have to make a folder in the mod folder (mods > "skin pack name" > vehicles > "vehicles i made the skins for" (vivace, bolide, ....) > "all the skins for that vehicle" > skin PNG / .jbeam files) and then zip everything? i tried other methods but none worked out.

how do i save textures? every time i restart my game my headlight textures dissapear
the textures arent in the local vehicle folder
cause they are saved in .33/vehicles/vehicle name, if you've edited them in material editor and saved them that way you then need to take that from there and place it in your /mods/unpacked/vehiclename
is it the main materials file in there that i need to put in my mods folder?
everything from the folder named under your vehicle

Very different, even though it is a small bar hoop, the jbeam is the exact same as the offroad bumper, cuz i ain’t edited yet

nope i dont think you can do that
idk if theres a way to increase grip only in snow in the jbeam of a tire but the way beamng works snowchains arent a posibility
the tire nodes are proceduraly generated so dont have actual node names and i dont think you can attach anything to them
and the chains in themselves are too small so i dont know how youd make the jbeam small enough to not be overly big, but big enough to actualy do something
and theres no proper snow/ice simulation in beamng, you cant grip a flat surface (since esentially the vanilla game ice is just a slippery road material)
I'm thinking of adding a weigh station to a map I'm making. Would there be any way to build it into the map, rather than have players spawn their own? I assume it would be possible using Lua in some way, but I'm not sure how to go about adding Lua scripts to a map either.
you can actually add the weight object from vehicle selector in asset manager in world editor then save world and it'll spawn when you load in map

yes but i think it would just cause instabilities since a colision triangle spinning at high speeds coming in contact with a body panel just seems like a good way to explode

probably won't happen, mods take a great deal of time and man modders are self testers anyways. Don't need to send a unfinished mod to a random person to have it then reuploaded to mod land (not saying that you would but thats what happens)
My point is if you need a LOW TIER pc user to give honest feedback im your guy till I a stronger set of graphics or something

a hoop is the top part, the things that protect the lights and grille

not really much jbeam to show, here are the steps i took:
- make the bumper in blender
- create a meshlap jbeam and reference that bar (works fine)
- in the jbeam file, create slot called "hoops"
why create slot? for a bumper thats already has a slot
- copy and paste that jbeam bar file, change slot type to "hoops", remove all slots, rename and reference another blender part, a hoop
because i want a slot underneath the bumper, I want one bar, with different hoop options
this part would show up in part config, when I select it it just pauses game and gives "instability" warning
so the jbeam is the same as bumper is what your saying

so you have two overlapping jbeams
You should never skip parts.
Jbeam is the skeleton for the mesh to follow. It is physical and if you overlap it, it will collide within itself.
you can use the jbeam tool for blender
instead you need to move the nodes so they are the basic simple shape of your model
yea know how to jbeam, however haven't gotten to it yet. just wanted to try the slot creation first, I will see if I can fix it later

you can tab over to the saved vehicles in the map
which is, not ideal. Any way to prevent that?

not an expert or anything but im pretty sure gas stations have triggers (like invisible ones in world editor)
so you might need to place those too
i recall reading somewhere long ago that gas stations have to be defined in a file manually somewhere
you need the gameplay area and the icon thingie as well, but then also define it somehow in some file

Probably a node issue in the jbeam you made. Try checking the console for errors
It doesn't work because beamng is in fullscreen. That's why it isn't working for me.
I used the Bull bar J-Beam and I just modified the names
The shape shows no texture, but someone else has helped me fix it so should be good when i try later

if you have never made a mod before... you will find it extremely hard. Unless you are an experienced modder, choose on of the others to start with. Car parts are useful to help build up knowledge on how to create a simple meshlap car oneday

Look at all your lod models and see which one is missing a material in blender

Hello! I have a mod (not the creator) that has a steering wheel that is rotating off center, I wanted to center it before it drives me crazy.
Could someone help me locate where this is defined?
I have tried to alter all the values on baseRotation, rotation, translation etc but those seems to be unrelated to the "center" placement of it.
Was hoping I could find some simple x,y,z I could change.

No problem
If you need help with how to actually move the origin, it is pretty simple
You just need to load the .dae into blender, head over to options at the top right and check Origins
Then you can select the steering wheel mesh, hit G and then Z
Then you can overwrite the .dae file

Probably is being put in place by the JBeam, in this case I would position it (in blender) by the Y axis rather than the Z axis
General location in the blender scene doesn't matter
Just the location relative to the origin (orange dot)

Do I need to reload the game in any different way for this? I have moved it around and exported it, but it does not look like it changed anything. Usually when I have changed the files a CTRL + R have been enough to reload file changes

Check the objects materials name in blender, if it has .001 or something like that behind it, rename it to remove that bit

Question, I liked the brake callipers on the Scintilla, so I added it to another vehicle and placed them where they are supposed to sit (physically), everything works great, but, if I do not load the Scintilla in once during the playtime, it will be invisible. Likely the way I did is not how you are supposed to do it, can I add anything to make them load or do I need to copy the assets over to the other car as well? Best would probably to add it properly with new names and such

Okay so im trying to make a simple map with the roads architect. I made a few roads but they didnt have the road texture and it was still dirt. So I looked at a video where a guy used the terrain painter to put the road surface on the road. BUT I underestimated how hard it would be to figure out how to use the terrain painter and accidentally painted the whole world asphalt but still with the dirt grip 🙃
I was just working off the plain island so I think I had to import the road material/texture? And some how replaced the whole world with it.
Also how do I make my world show up In the freeroam world select menu? I created a new folder in levels but I have to load a map, open editor and open my map through there

Quick question. Is there a way to increase/change at all the amount of particles kicked in the air by the Ground Model for my map? The area I am creating either doesnt use, or has very little, dust palliative for gravel roads, and the teensy tiny bit of dust being kicked up as I drive along is really throwing me off lol. Dirt road particles are way better, but I need the gravel ground model specifically for its handling and sfx.
(For contrast, here's a gravel road from my dashcam in this area.)

Okay I think I have a better idea of what I did, it becomes a much bigger pain to remove the intersection if you attach a road to it.
Im restarting making all the roads since my save has that bugged intersection stuck there and plus i know more about how to use it better

Yeah you should rename it, but it shouldnt really cause issues as long as its not in the common directory. The issue that would happen would just be that the game sees duplicates and gives an error afaik.

I use a 3km-large decal as a blueprint of my roads, last I opened the map it was showing even from afar, but now it only show up if I reduce the size to around 30-40m large

Paint.net/Gimp/Photoshop for the textures
And any text editor for the .jbeam and .json files (I'd recommend something like Visual Studio Code or Notepad++, but even the standard notepad app built into Windows will do the trick)

I personally use Paint.net, since for Gimp I think you'd need an extra plugin to edit .dds files

Why do you have cached.dts files but if thoses .dds files are anywhere listed in a material file they would need to be remapped

ohhh yea id say check all of your materials and see which ones use the .dds files and then remap them once you move them to a new folder

Yep, the techdemo uses materials.cs which someone else told me to put in the shapes folder
So I just leave those files there, put the dts files in shapes, and it should work

months later and I figured out that this is a result of the VS Code plugin they've made. If I have the curser on a node in vs code, then it'll highlight in the game

I'd suggest making the texture 512x512 or so, where each 32x32 area is one colour to make it look like a single pixel
