you'll still need a "Dummy" engine due to stuff in the base game that (at least the last time I checked) requires an engine to be present. the Electric Citybus is a good example; it uses the hybrid system but doesn't have a functional engine or a fuel tank

personally i would suggest using it. a version from a different developer saved my butt once when i was modding an .ISO file for an android phone OS, which 42 lines ultimately failed and the compiler automatically stopped it before it screwed up layout transitions.
