Anyone know of a mod that allows drivetrain swaps for any car
theres one which allows you to add AWD drivetrains to most vehicles (grand marshall, 200bx etc) but ive forgotten the name of it, i think its called something like "AWD driveshaft conversions" but if you search for driveshaft you might be able to find it

it's not a mod. it's technically vanilla that hasn't been release, if it ever will be. It's just made by the devs as an experiment to what the game engine can provide

Don't know where to put this, but I wanted to suggest a side project for anyone that wants to do it. I don't know how hard beamng modding is as I've never done it before, or how busy modders are, but I think it would be nice to have a '79 Camaro and have a Ghost Camaro variant to go with it. I don't really know any stats, but I can look them up if needed.

and then they would compare each others work, and improve on them
I'm not sure what you're expecting but that's kind of it. There's way no you can both work on the same file from different locations. So just break up the work amongst your partners and deal with the upload times.

So I've been trying to figure out why the ffb is so brutal at low speeds and while drifting. What I came to was the fact that the wheels don't have near the resolution that would be adequate for proper feeling. Now, I feel that the tires could be changed into a different type of dynamic simulation to replicate real world feel while maintaining system performance. I don't have enough familiarization with beam's game engine though to see if it could be implemented. Any thoughts from someone that actually knows this game? 😂
What do you mean man? I'd say it's more down to wheel settings, never really had an issue myself
@worn tree to get proper wheel feel you have to turn your damper settings and center spring settings all the way off, and turn off smoothing, but anything under 10mph or when you reach steering lock on a car that has drift angle, your wheel starts to stutter like crazy and try to kill itself, idk if those are exactly related or if the drifting has more to do with the deformation of the suspension but I'm gonna try to get a clip of what I am talking about
well that didn't work as planned, anyways, when the car is rolling slow you can see the tires bouncing over every node, which is to be expected based on how they are set up, I'm just trying to find a way to remedy this and make it smoother so the option to have a more raw input is possible, I'm looking for realism, not necessarily if it feels good, it feels very real when it is sliding at mid angle but anything straight is very off

It's a shame to "bash" any mod that isn't perfect, it doesn't really motivate to mod the game and push new modders into the game.
If I take again the example of Mudrunner, many mods are not perfect but I had much more fun with them than with the last Beamng mods that came out because they try things and add interesting content, the last one I had a lot of fun with in beamng is the capsule bus which is also not perfect but very cool. Feel like that overcritisizing the mods of others just push for less "conceptual" mods and more basic regular simpler mods.
Probably also why a lot of mods are private, because the creators don't want to face groups of people that will criticise everything that's not perfect, it's a shame because we don't have access to this interesting content then.

TLDR: It will get it in time, when I update it from material.cs to the newer materials format.
I have nerve issues in my wrists that I got 2 years ago, this limits the amount of time I can spend doing repetitive activities at a computer (such as modelling &jbeam) . Since that makes me slower (and pain kills motivation), my options were to either leave the R20 on the repo as it was, or upload something less complete earlier. One option leaves people with the sub-optimal (compared to the version I had on my PC) R20 for longer, the other gives people something to do and more options for play now. Both are valid depending on personal priorities.
With that said, I genuinely do very much appreciate the feedback and I do shuffle my priorities based upon it. Without it its impossible to know what people actually want. For example, as obvious as it sounds, I had no idea people wanted the monster truck to be able to crush things. It was brought up with me, and now there is a config in the mod for it. Reviews kept stating the car was ugly, it now has a facelift. Its not lost on me that the R21 could have been more, but it exists now, and thats more than before.
To give a further example, the R21 also doesn't have skinning support. It should have it, the R20 has it. But I decided to cut it from my goals for this release in order to make the release happen.
Once the new super car comes out, just know imma do a LWBK on it :)

Called air suspension, looks nicer, wider track of wheel allowing bigger wheels for more grip, also front splitter adds downforce, also stickers are 5+ hp
Lmao, wider track width means nothing when the car is in that state. I was talking about the two wires that connect the splitter to the front of the car, not the splitter itself. But, judjing by your name, there's no way I can convince you otherwise
Dude air suspension that low isn’t good I agree, but air suspension allows the car to be higher or lower, the two wires are really high quality and strong it’s LWBK one of the best type of Bodykits out there, many splitters have those two wires it helps to be more intact and not fall of easily, also wide track helps with cornering

I think you need to rename the "toxic" file to "wendover.skin.toxic.dds"
Just to be safe, I'll help you convert the materials file to JSON
Download the attachment, replace all mentions of "SKINNAME" with "toxic" and when it asks for the baseColor map, and the provided map says "vehicles/wendover/SKINNAME/wendover_skin_SKINNAME.png", replace that with "vehicles/wendover/toxic/wendover_skin_toxic.dds",

Go to edit mode → Normals → recalculate Outside
Use the modifier „WeightedNormal“ and try around with its settings

I have no clue on JBeam or any of that jazz, which always cancels anything I make. I don't know advanced Blender though, only messing about with other people's stuff really xD

Hey, thank you man! What I personally did was highlight some of the mesh from the original fenders, and press Shift D to duplicate. Then, I joined those 2 parts together and joined them so they are separate from everything else. From there, I modified them to fit. It's very difficult to do it without using parts of the original game mesh, and personally this is how I got a better fit. It's taken a lot of time, but the front part you see here is actually the rear that has been duplicated, but cut and changed manually. I believe you would use a Plane if you wanted to make your own 🙂

also the decals fade way to early which seems to be related to the size of each decal
So looks like the player have to drive slowly to get a beautiful line of the oil

depending on vehicle speed alter the amount of decals placed

I'm still undecided on what to put on the "Trip" tab (2nd - in ETS/ATS it shows distance remaining, cargo, ETA etc.) and the "Vehicle" tab (3rd - in ETS/ATS it shows truck, trailer and cargo damage. Could just show vehicle damage but seems a bit of a waste of an entire tab)
GPS, trip, vehicle data, along with showing speed, damage, fuel, gear and temp, day and time
So far, the stats work, it's just damage doesn't work as a % as I can't find out total_beams. And I haven't worked out the navigation yet
so it'll save space by having alot of info in just one UI element? nice

** - Odometer partially works, need to add reset button and persistency. Still need to calculate instant/average fuel consumption and distance until empty.
And of course general ui fixes so it looks better, it is a bit rough in places

Recode has been completed, mostly back to where the original was functionally.
Working on adding the UI for configurations, and still want to work out if I can make an <a> link or button that can open an external website in the user's browser (so far no luck with it). Configuration itself works though, I can now change between MPH/KPH, F/C and 12/24 hour time, as well as the threshold where the fuel level is set to red (ie. 10%)

no, apart from FR17 there arent any good F1 mods yet, Genesis F2 is a decent one but its kinda messed up (fuel tank explodes when you spawn it and screen doesnt work) cherrier f320 is probably your best choice apart from, well, fr17
and even cherrier f320 is kinda broken, screen also doesnt work
