Hey, I’m modeling a 1978–80 Monte Carlo street stock body.
I’m working from side reference images and trying to keep the body mostly flat for a race car (no subdivision).

I’m stuck on outlining / placing the main edge loops for the side body panels — especially the beltline, lower rocker area, and how many horizontal loops I should have.

I’m not sure if my current vertex layout is correct or if I’m over-complicating it.

Should this side panel be mostly one flat surface with only a few horizontal loops, or should I be following the reference shading more closely?

Screenshots attached — any guidance on clean edge flow for race car bodies would help a lot.

le mans is a very high-speed track, could be an aero issue (especially through the porsche curves)

in your dae, i think the geometry center isnt set correctly

to do so, import in blender where the fan is and right click, center to geometry and you should have an orange dot in the middle of your fan

then, re-export your dae, it should be good (i've never done that, so its not as precise as it should be)

You know the dream engine pack is good but like the LT1 and 455 are weird

They sound amazing and perform great but if you're using arcade shifting the game is constantly riding the clutch. If you're not flooring it all the time or you're crawling up a hill the clutch will overheat in a matter of like 10 seconds.

Apparently the Barstow IV could have originally been named like The Estelle IV, to line up with the Estelle being the mustang (the Barstow looks more like a gran Torino to me) but Lucas said no for whatever reason.
