you need to import mods here, no need to unzip them, theress normally a shortcut in Documents but you can also press "open Mod Folder" in the mod menu under the mods manager tab to open it, simply drag it into the folder, and you should be good to go

Technically you can not use 3D models, textures, jbeams... unless you have a Licence that allows Redistribution of the files. i dont think theres any racing game that allows use of their models

If the mod is free, its still ilegal, but no one cares since you arent making money of something that isnt yours
If the mod is paid, its also ilegal, but people care, because you are making money off of Assets you didnt make, which is wrong.

if you want to use models you need to check the licence they are under allows Redistributing, they might also require Credit, if its something paid, you need to also have Commercial rights

I'll explain, I took an example from many authors of paid mods, everyone takes a ready-made model from various games and an existing machine, I don't see any particular problems with this, many games use models from other games and there are no problems with this, my only mistake is that I didn't credits the authors

well if you're not too worried about crashing, and super high textures @stray beacon has a shitload of free mods on his website (his dc is in his bio, u can find a link to his website in there), if you want super high quality stuff I would reccomend Nix and Bandito, however they are both paid. I can provide server links in dms. If you want Australian wheeling stuff, GXL Mods has the best value paid mods for Beamng in my opinion. RCC (Rough Country Crawling) also has an exceptionally good value patreon stuffed with hardcore buggies and normal cars too - but like x10 better wheeling quality than the devs rock crawlers

Also if you want like desert/prerunner stuff, BDR (Beam Desert Racing) and @waxen lichen can provide, BDR has exceptionally detailed stuff on their patreon

The second one is about cars. I saw that the car database in the game is really restricted. So we have to download some car models right ? Here’s the thing : I love using the first person while driving, is the interior of downloaded cars often well made ? Or is it a bunch of pixels ?

Graphics are good, especially if you get CKs skybox which makes the sky look real.

Some modded cars are good, as long as you stay on here https://www.beamng.com/threads/the-irl-cars-mod-list-for-v0-37-22-11-2025-update.102506/ and dont go near any third party virusheaps like modland etc.

Beamngs the best car sim by a long shot imo, the physics combined with the maps and moddability, combined with the fact the base game doesn’t have an ingame currency - which means you can drive whatever vehicles you want whenever however.

frame budget can be adjusted while trading off accuracy. but for now I use a raymarched rendering with 16 steps, so takes around 1-2ms (guessing, not sure exactly atm.), I didn't do any profiling yet but this version is a bit expensive

• patreons and other paid sites. Here you can but mods people make and sell. Sometimes can be dodgy or low quality
