If you go to your repo mods folder, go one back and into unpacked, there make a new folder with you mod's name. In that a folder called "vehicles", and then a folder with the car's internal name
Im also gonna copy the front splitter to make the values even out, it should basically be the same process as the spoiler right?

The Scintilla
In a way yes, you can edit the values for air friction of surfaces, which should increase downforce
Ok I don't know the scintilla's internal name rn, but you can find that out by going in the parts selector and choosing "display internal name" (or somethinglike that)
Then it shows you all the part's names, which have the car's internal name at the front
it's called scintilla or supercar or something
If you have that, find your vehicles folder (should be found by going back 2 folders from the repo folder if I remember right), in there are all the cars in zip files, which use said internal name

You can nake the config use parts of other mods, but when you load it you just need to have those mods or it will have missing parts
In this zip, there should be a [car name]_bumper_F.jbeam and a [car name]_wing_jbeam. Might be calles a bit different though
Copy these in your mod, in the car name's folder. Then open them, change the intern part name at the very top, the "name" (which is the ingame name), and then at the bottom, there is a section for triangles, which lists every surface of the part. At the top of those should be a line saying dragcoefficient or something. Increase that number and you should have more downforce if you install that new part

Not really if you need that mod for it to work, but I suggest only sharing your mod to friends privately to avoid problems

No but it will be overwritten if the mod gets updated by the creator

Using parts from other mods in a config, is not 'using' other people's mods, as none of their work is actually included in your mod
Asking permission never hurts but generally you don't really need to, just list them as optional/required mods for users to download alongside your mod, with links to those mods

The config in question would be this one i made for the Scintilla, the only vanilla pars are the wheels, tires and maybe the front fenders and exhaust, the other mods are basically a must 💀
Yeah that'd be fine, just link those other mods if you share your mod publicly. Though if users have to download like 10 mods to get the config to work, that might be a bit much 🙃

One day, I may create a huge 32x32km Aussie map! It would be half Outback, and half country (half of that flat and half of that mountainous) It would have a dual carriageway highway (based off the Hume Highway), and several single carriageway highways, roads, and dirt roads and trails, and there will be three towns (two in the country part, and one in the outback part). There would also be a couple of rivers, and some lakes and creeks. The map will be landlocked with no coastline.
But don't get too exited, as there is no guarantee I'll do it.

in steam\steamapps\common\BeamNG.drive\content\vehicles
in there every zip is one vehicle, but they use intern names, so some older ones are hard to recognize
replaced the .jbeam file name and the internal name too
i still couldnt find the zip files for the cars, i just went in the mod that adds the spoiler and got the .jbeam from there
also ignore the changed author it should be CRGZ i thought changing it would help
oh yea forgot to say that, if the spoiler you are editing os from another mod, then it will not be in the game files

also how does one make car steer more, steering gets progressivley worse with speed but can i make it so that it doesent get affected that much

either you lack front grip, or you have the settings put to decrease steering angle at high speed too much

if you make only one extreme, then you have either oversteer or understeer

found it, in there its the scintilla_bigsplitter.jbeam

in the file, there are 3 parts, first the two side supports and then the splitter itself, you can delete the part of the side ones if you don't plan on changing them

you can leave them, but then you are overwriting the vanilla ones with identical ones. so should the game ever update and change anything, it would overwrite it with the old one. also it's cleaner and less file size

yes, you can copy the jbeam for the nitrous and increase the volume as you wish
Source files from the game core, but only put mods in the dedicated mods folder.
Easiest way is to use the button in the UI.

It always seemed like a shame to me that BeamNG never had motorcycles with decent handling. I just tested out all the plausible ones I could find and they all have severe death wobble issues and general floppiness and instability. Using L-beams and slide nodes on the front fork I've managed to make a stiff and well damped motorcycle. I've gone as fast as 250 where my wheel was exploding without issues and can turn with 60° lean at high speed. The only problem is that I'm forced to use ancient hubwheels with their very crude traction model. I cannot figure out how to make a pressure wheel that can lean at 60° without the tread lifting and a dramatic loss of traction. Hubwheels maintain traction even when they've rotated onto the tire geometry’s edge. I was wondering if anyone would like to point me at mod with pressure wheels like this or could tell me the key to configuring them?
not really many people go deep into tyre/wheel stuff. beam has a pretty poor tyre handling system for cars, bikes are always going to be even further behind in proper handling. you might have to do something outside of just simple value editing etc to get anywhere. might have to consult with one of the guys working on a mod for different tyre handling, there have been a few over the years
Okay, thanks. It didn't occur to me that there were mods that reworked the tires. Things would be different if I could model my own wheels by hand but the complex friction parameters aren't available for regular colliders. Also, I'm pretty sure that the wheels and tires use some kind of specialized simulation so if you modelled your own it would be unstable or too heavy.

"rework" is perhaps a strong word, but yeah. getting too heavy is a real issue due to the limitations of the current jbeam system. you tried the outlaw(?) motorbike mod?

I'm hesitant to bother them because I feel like if they had solved the things I'm interested in they would make sure and mention it in the description. There are a number of motorcycles that are totally adequate for cruising. They just tend to have low top speed and not provide anything close to the level of dynamics fidelity that good BeamNG cars have. Thanks for the tip and I will dig around a bit.
i flick through the thread occasionally, some technical stuff pops up every now and again. seems far less arcadey than the other options from what ive seen. good luck with it, would love to see better bike mods as i have quite a few irl

Is there any mod that just replaces the no texture texture with some green or moss like texture? That it fits to most trees and terrains and isnt bright orange?

in core\art there is the missing placeholder textures
you can probably replace these but should not delete them. othersise missing textures and materials will probably be a big issue

if it shakes without the car moving, then adjust the beamDamp, probably less is better
if it shakes while dirving fast, further adjust the beam stiffniss, or add more beams yourself to connect it better (press ctrl + N ingame to see node names)

@rough iris i changed the tires, surprisingly first try with no errors
apart from the car accidentally doing a wheelie but whoops
However i did test that the spoiler starts to shake when you go above 50-60kmh
and up to 170-190, arround 200+ KMH it stops
its not like, breaking off the car, i dont see any damage but its just shaking

after 7 hours i've finished editing my car (i made it in automation)
i've added 2 mods (one of them i wrote my self)
adaptive brake light (flashing brake light) which took me 7 hours to figure out ;-;
and while figuring it out, i have added the "throttle surge" mod (which i made :D), when turning ignition on the throttle is 1 (100%) and then goes back to 0
ignore the wheelie and crazy acceleration

Hey, I just wanted to come back to say that I really appreciate you informing me of Shaxei’s motorcycle. It turns out that a pre-release version is already available so I just got it and answered my own questions. When you first mentioned it I assumed it was an old abandoned mod but in reality all the information about it is on discord and I had missed it. The rider animation system is quite fun and impressive with features like coming to a stop and leaning on one leg. It has massively better handling than the other motorcycle mods I found. I modified it so that I could directly control the steering angle instead of setting a target lean angle for the controller and it was still very easy to control. It already uses a clever slidenode setup for the front fork with reinforcement to the frame similar to what I came up with. It doesn't seem to use any L-beams. I think that the suspension ought to be a lot stiffer so I intend to quickly add some L-beams and see if it sharpens up the handling. It is able to do extremely steep lean angles. But this is through traction that is over four times higher than what is required for a stoppie. with more realistic traction the low speed stability is terrible and it suffers from the same loss of traction and stability as the outside edge of the tread lifts off the ground.

The search feature on the site is pretty bad, try googling site:beamng.com and then whatever it is you're looking for. That way it will only show results from the official site
There are also 3rd party sites such as Modland, but those feature a lot of low quality / stolen mods, and potentially even malicious content / viruses, so using such sites is not recommended. If you do, use at your own risk, and don't click any suspicious ads or links
Not really true, it's mostly safe - as in, the chances for getting a virus or so are not as big as people make it out to be. Main problem is just that the mods are often super low quality meshslaps, or stolen/leaked

All edits should be in the mods folder, separate from the vanilla game files, and not overwrite the vanilla files in any way (just because they are in a different location, doesn't mean they can't overwrite vanilla files)

Did you edit the Lansdale files directly? If so, delete lansdale.zip from your game files/content/vehicles/, then use Steam to verify game files, after checking the files it will redownload the vanilla lansdale.zip

Okay will do. Yes i copied the Lansdale files and unzipped it, then i made my edits. and uploaded my Dae in. and zipped it. Then overwrote the vanilla lansdale file with it. This is my first try making something
never do this, always copy whatever you edit into a new mod and change all the names so they are different to the vanilla one. i suggest you always make a new mod inside the mods/unpacked folder. To add something to the lansdale for example this would be:
/mods/unpacked/lansdaleMod/vehicles/lansdale/modfile.jbeam
^ lansdaleMod and modfile can be anything you want, as long as it isnt something that is the same as in vanilla. Usually i recommend adding your name or initials.
You also need to rename the part inside the jbeam file

For now I'm not quite sure how you'd go about doing that, for cars you add a population line in the info_configname.json files, but it seems for trailer they put it in the the generic info.json instead, with the population set to 0...?

as in, just taking unmodified exisiting JBEAM and putting your mesh over it, leading to inaccurate collison
if you use existing JBEAM, try to conform it better to your model

How can you apply transforms on a DAE without messsing up the origin?
I just want a rotating part to have the correct origin and also its 0, 0, 0 to be correct
but when i apply transformation it moves the origin to the wrong spot and makes it rotate all incorrect
