you must never unpack mods unless you're going to modify them and even then that's the wrong folder of where unpacked mods go
jusdt leave them as zips

look honest answer, it's kinda hard to help when you're just meshslapping things together, another full car every couple of days it seems. it would be a much better idea to do some smaller project first (new parts for existing cars) with scratch jbeams, to learn the basics of it

normally i use bastion as base but since this i try with expiremental what if i use Vivace as base (due to hatchback) and use bastion front suspension
I honestly wish that there's a way that you can copy the location of one thing in blunder then put the coordinates scale and everything into the new model and have it go to that exact same spot and be the exact same rotation and everything even scale as the old model that you copied.
the suspension that i used is copied from bastion and relocated in Model S and i applied transform all
and speaking of small projects air suspension fixed to not interfere with other vanilla additional functions (i.e. openable window in vanilla car)
what y’all think about the material of these door handles? similar to reality?
some chrome trim from some vanilla might help

This may not look like much, but this is one of the first, if not THE first third party map mod that was ever released for BeamNG... and I found the old files and got it working again 😄 (only a small problem with distant textures on the trees remains) Its over 10 years old!

beam would be 9/10 graphics with bettter skyboxes and less grainy shadows

beam can look very pretty but it just suffers from very strange issues graphicly
anti aliasing is all and there is a mod to fix that and a mod to fix skyboxes
yeah the anti-aliasing needs a buff but overall I'd say the graphics can be quite good
there are issues from maps but thats very map dependant, game engine wise the graphics suffice just fine minus the aliasing
and also the super grainy shadows and ambient occlusion, or how terribly optimized the actual lighting is

I have a rtx1650 and a ryzen 5 5600 and the fps is as unsteady as possible
other games I'll get low fps in, its still a steady low fps
maybe its something to do with the lods in beam idk
well what map are you using, because the only way the steadyness is relevant is if its like two comparable scenarios

- you have a 4gb gpu which is almost useless for any modern game. i guarantee you get a better gpu and the game will run fine. The game is also built on a game engine older than assetto corsa so beam nd devs themselves are modifying something older than most of the beam ng players to do things not even thought of at the time it was released

The difference with Vulkan is efficiency really
Any renderer will use both CPU and GPU
Where the CPU handles all the work of dispatching things to the GPU
Vulkan is more complex and talks to the GPU more directly, so it can be better optimized
DX11 struggles because BeamNG's renderer does so much work and it ends up giving the single threaded DX11 renderer a hard time
I think the way Vulkan is implemented it uses more VRAM, I get around 8-10GB of VRAM usage on WCUSA

I've got to appreciate BeamNG (Beam Node Game?) being relativley easy and NOT archaic for anyone outside of BeamNG team to understand, lol. While the documentation is short, as someone who primarily works in Unity, editing cars with .jbeam files was suprisingly easy

I have multiple mods in with the "Race Engine" header, and one is taking priority over the new one I think. That would affect the default, as the old files name isn't different than the default.

From my experience, 3601000 beamSpring, 360 beamDamp, and 21000 beamDeform if you're making crushable elements like the front upper shock tower frame(like two main lower engine frames usually located around the middle)
if the area needs reinforcement because the area falls apart on its own when driving normally / too weak in a crash, turn up the value of beamDeform!
If you feel the area is too wiggly when you're driving, I suggest 7201000 beamSpring, 720 beamdamp, 42000, or 112000(higher for crash reinforcement, turn down if needed) beamdeform setup!
Beam deform only changes how much force it takes to permanently deform a beam not deform in general so it does nothing for support
Yeah! It's useful for controlling the behavior of bend modes, but usually not too useful in terms of normal driving

Also, one thing to note! due to simplified characteristics of the BeamNG Physics engine, the node attached to beams with very-spring prone value properties would completely noclip on its own when in a crash, so be sure to at least keep 1000000 spring to 100 damp ratio to prevent the nodes from being prone to noclipping through everything! if the node still noclips through a wall, turn up the value of beamDamp as high as you could until you meet the sweet spot!(you can still use 0 damping on nodes with no collisions by the way)

Well - if it was based on an actual 3D modyfing tool, where you could easily create connections, and lists of connections. But for all I understood, you need to select each node and connect it with each node in the process

Loading the jbeams doesn't give you anything, because it doesn't load the actual boxes it is based on. Btw did I understood correctly, and such relations are specified only by name, and you don't need to specify correct directory, meaning you cannot have objects with the same name in the whole project at all, or anything?
