anyway to simply explain syntax, see how removing the inverted commas at gearRatios causes the error? that's because the computer is percieving it as an open inverted comma and causing a syntax error

this is the etk_transmission.jbeam straight from the k series files, not the one included in the V10 mod
oh wait my bad, apparently the etkk_transmission jbeam has more than just the 5m, it is also overwriting various other things
and yeah the 5m has a mismatched slot type
double k for this while the v10 has 1 k

also you should remove the etk_transmission folder from your mod, to save overwriting files

I have a suspicion etk_transmission is a common slotType for vanilla etk models
as I'm pretty sure there's no HMT support for Lucas's mod

It'll be using the default modern etk transmission slot, which the HMT mod also uses
so maybe i should change the slottype on the transmission and engine to etkk

the flexbody and the name in blender match
so idk what else could be causing it to be invisible
okay now it has a unique slottype for the transmission
the model has the _k suffix so won't work with the "vanilla" jbeam, you'll need to copy the jbeam over, give it a unique name and change the flexbody data
so just adding _k to "etkk_transmission" wont work ?

check this, I've copied and pasted the 5M transmission jbeam, added _V10 to differentiate from the normal 5 speed, added (V10) just for significance and updated the flexbody name to match yours

found the problem, the engine jbeam has nodes that the transmission relies on to spawn, however the group assigned to the engine was for the modern etk, not Lucas's one

i wanted to try to do v swap to conceal in ccf2 but i afraid if i do the original author will take it down. (if i planned to do)

you need to save texture material first after naming it
then you can put the textures in

Yea, all model faces have an orientation and if they’re not oriented correctly it can do odd shading stuff
You can check it in blender by pressing the two circle button on the top left of the viewport in edit mode
Anything red is inside and blue is outside, if it’s the issue select what’s wrong and hit shift+n

Very interesting observation; You are implying that the majority of sales are driven singlehandedly by minors, which I don't doubt to be true - But that seems to ruin the fun for the rest of us. Contradictory, I assume that a large majority of revenue comes entirely from beamng.tech licensing, in which case the game itself matters very little.
I actually hadn't thought about the fact that the rating would be the reason the developers would refrain from adding humanoids - A very highly requested feature, I might add. Hilariously, it's apparently already in the game - But cannot be released for reasons like that it would ruin the rating.

Where did you find that information? I find it very difficult to find any information on Beamng apart from the update trailers, and the occasional tease on the forums. All the Beamng.Tech videos are hidden.

I like to think I "invested" in the game back in 2012 or '13, and it seems like the .Tech branch got far more love. I understand BeamNG has come far, but we have barely gotten a car per year on average, and there still isn't a fledged-out career-mode.

Edit: Decided to remove it after a closer look, seems to be veryyy early in development, with temporary jbeam and a model that is not a good fit for beam modding yet
Entirely true, but not how it started out, and sad to see the "game" part of the game that we were sold, isn't getting any attention.

and the teasers (nearly) every tuesday, starting weeks before an update is released
They employ nearly a hundred people - I'd happily fund it further if it meant getting more updates. I am an adult now. I barely play the game, because I grew up before it released. I think I'm entirely within my right to say that a game that hasn't come out of early access for 13 years and counting, isn't getting the attention it deserves.
Entirely possible but, it's mixed in with the IP it's self. I'm not saying it's 100% but, when dealing with companies I'm sure things get tricky.
imo its an extreme stretch to call an early access game "unreleased" when it is for sale, let alone beamng where its in a far better state than 90% of early access games

It's been in early access for 13 years. And its in a better state than 90% of early access games in part because:
- Most early-access games are rugpulls or made by developers who do it as a hobby.
- The game has had 13 years of development time.
also those 100 people wont all be developers, there are other departments as well

I understand your defensive stance, but I bought this game way before it was even on Steam - And we are only a little closer to that fabled career mode than we were back then.

Also, early access is not a released state. It's a state where you can fund games you believe in, hoping they turn out the way you want. It's generally terrible practice.

early access games should be purchased with the understanding that it may never get finished or may not be the product you initially purchased when its done

I dont doubt that the developers would take offense to the notion that they didn't do enough. And I'm sure that if they didn't have a great marketing team, they might very well have been bankrupt now. The 'game'-part never took off - But the BeamNG.Tech did, which is funding development.
I have tried the Python library, and it's incredible. The new MatLab-integration is interesting as well. I'm sure it would be fun as an engineering student.
All I'm saying is that the "game"-part hasn't really advanced much - Or rather, very quickly, at least.
Interesting comparison, since Minecraft hadn't changed until recently, long after Microsoft purchased it. All of Notch's original plans went away, and it was only recently when Microsoft decided to update it.

I didn't bother reading your further discussions, but the "Game" I was referring to was BeamNG.Drive, whereas the other partr is BeamNG.Tech - not the different aspects of BeamNG.Drive. It's a softbody physics-simulator, sold as a game on Steam.

Hello everyone i have edited the Utah map in WorldEditor and now it doesn't show as a map, it just shows an an auxillary debug map with the "template logo" thumbnail. I've tried verifying my game files and uninstalling and reinstalling the game and it still is doing this. Can anyone help?

You might not be motivated because you're building on a flat boring plane, use the terrain painter to plan out some rivers and topography. Make some terrain variation first before you build on it.

You would just copy the sunroof jbeam, change the names so it doesn't overwrite the original, and change the flexbody to the one you make in blender
Look up how to add a part for beam ng on youtube there a few good tutorials that you can follow rather than trying to do it with someone typing out the instructions
